Chapter 20: The Horcrux Talk.
Nico's POV
I got out of bed and changed into a clean set of robes. Then I shook Neville's shoulder.
"Nev, it's time to get up." I whispered. He opened his eyes blearily.
"No. I don't want to." He said, pulling the covers over his head. I sighed and sat on the bed.
"But if you get up now, we might have some alone time before breakfast." I said, pulling down the covers to whisper it in his ear. He looked at me.
"Fine." He got out of bed and walked to the bathroom. I smirked and made my bed.
After a few minutes, Neville came back into the room wrapped in a towel, with wet hair. I looked him in the eyes and winked. He went cherry red. Neville went to his bed and pulled the curtain to get dressed. I smirked and laid back on my bed.
A few minutes later, Neville came over, and sat next to me.
"You dressed?" I asked, eyes still closed.
"Yep." He responded, lying next to me. I smiled as he cuddled me. I ran my hand through his still wet hair. He purred like a cat. That made my smile bigger.
"Well, we'd better head to breakfast." I said, pulling him up. he whined, but came anyway.
On our way out of the dorm, I spotted a new order from the 'high inquisitor of Hogwarts' or whatever her name was.
'No girls are permitted to be within 8 inches of a boy by rule of the Hogwarts high Inquisitor' Is what I made of it. I let out a small laugh.
"Doesn't apply to us Nev, we're gay." I said with a smile leaning over, and giving him a peck on the cheek. We left the deserted common room, and made our way to breakfast.
We sat at the close end of the table, and then hurried off to class.
"That was exhausting!" Neville exclaimed, sitting in one of the armchairs. I sat on the arm of his chair.
"Yes, it has definitely been a long day." I affirmed. I noticed the 'golden trio' staring at us from across the room. I stood. "I'll be right back." I told my boyfriend. I walked over to them.
"What do you want faggot?" Ron glared. I blinked.
"Oh, I didn't realize wizards were homophobic." I said, tilting my head to the side. "Guess you're not much better than the muggles."
"Ron, that was very rude. Apologize to Nico now. We don't have any right to hate on others for their choices." Hermione reprimanded.
"I will not! He's disgusting, and I won't have it!" Ron growled. I sighed, and contemplated my next words very carefully.
"Well, that may be true. I'm sure you see me as disgusting, a freak, a demon." I stated, and turned to Hermione. "I was going to ask if you guys wanted to do our potions homework together, but it seems that Ronald would rather not associate with those who are different." I stated icy.
"I'd love to." Harry said, making both his friends turn and give him strange looks. "I'd also like to talk with you." He said, boring his green eyes into my black ones.
"Sounds good." I nodded, and walked back over to Neville.
"What did you do now Nico?" he asked.
"Why ever would you insinuate I would do anything?" I questioned, throwing a hand to my chest and faking deep hurt. Neville just rolled his eyes.
"So, then why is Harry over here?" he asked, as the speckled teen sat on the floor next to Nev's chair.
"I merely invited him to come do potions homework with us." I said, sitting on the floor as well.
"Alright, tell me what you know about me." Harry demanded, setting his potions homework on the floor.
"Are you sure you're ready for that information?" I asked, pulling my own potions homework from the shadows.
"Yes. Tell me!" he whisper yelled.
"Very well. Do you know what a Horcrux is?" I asked.
"No? what is that?" Harry leaned in.
"A horcrux is a piece of a wizard's soul that has been separated from the whole by a malicious act. Usually murder. The only real reason to make them is that they will keep you from dying if you have one stored safely. However, it leaves the soul in your body very unstable and leads to insanity. The one you call Voldemort made 6 of these such Horcrux's." I answered, staring deep into his eyes.
"Okay? What does this have to do with anything?" Harry questioned.
"Well, you see, the night he tried to kill you, his soul was so depraved that it split again, and a portion of it is actually anchored to your scar. Meaning, Voldemort can come back until you die." I stated, not caring in the slightest what effect this information would have on the teen. He sat there in complete shock for a few moments, just processing what I'd revealed. Neville gasped.
"You mean to kill Moldy-shorts we'd have to kill Harry?" he asked, horrified. Harry jolted.
"Yep. Best part is, the headmaster of this school has been raising Harry here so that when he was told this, he'd sacrifice himself in a heartbeat. Old dumb-old-door has given our little Harry here such a hero complex that even the chance that he could save someone by dying, he'd commit suicide on the spot." I casually informed. I looked into Harry's eyes, and saw the confusion and disbelief. "Am I wrong?" I asked. He didn't respond. Neville looked just as shell-shocked.
"He wouldn't," he whispered. I smirked.
"He would. In a heartbeat. Think about it mi amor; if Harry dies, Dumbass-door can then kill Moldy and be known as the slayer of the dark lord and the avenger of the golden boy. It's a perfect plan. Well, almost perfect. The only thing he forgot to account for was me." I smiled, as Neville blushed at my nickname.
"What can I do?" Harry whispered. Desperation shining through. I looked at him.
"Well, there are a few options. Are you asking what you can do to get rid of the horcrux? What you can do to get rid of the headmaster? Or what you can do to pass your potions test?"
"Both, and the last one I guess." He smiled a little. Good, humor was a sign he was coming to terms with it.
"Well, there are a few ways to get rid of a horcrux. Of course, no one's ever tried them on a human before. There's cursed fire, the sword of Gryffindor, basilisk venom, or a child of the ancient gods. And you happen to be in luck, as at least two of those can be found at Hogwarts." I looked down at my homework as he thought about it.
"I know the sword of Gryffindor is here, but I don't know about the other ones." Harry whispered, mostly to himself I'd wager.
"Great! That means at least three of those are here." I smiled, at his confusion.
"Let me guess, Basilisk venom, and cursed fire?" he asked. I shook my head 'no'.
"Harry Potter, do you swear on the river of Styx that you won't tell another soul, living or dead what I'm about to reveal to you?" I questioned. His face contorted in confusion.
"Sure." He answered. I sighed, and shook my head.
"NO, you have to say I, your name, swear on the river of Styx never to reveal what is said here to another soul living or dead." I stated. He nodded slowly.
"I, Harry Potter, swear on the 'river of Sticks?' to never reveal what is said here to another soul, living or dead." Thunder boomed when he finished making him jump.
"Great, the oath took hold." I nodded slowly, and sighed.
"SO, why did I do that?" he asked.
"Because what I'm about to say is extremely confidential, and no one else is to know about it." I stared deep into his eyes, before running my hand through my hair.
"What exactly are you saying?" he asked, confusion turning into something slightly more sinister.
"I'm saying, Harry Potter, that I am not human. And no, unlike what the red head wants to think, I'm not a demon either. I am Nico di Angelo, The Ghost king, the grim reaper, ambassador of Pluto, and Son of Hades god of the underworld and the dead." I stated, eyes hardening. Harry blinked.
"Are you pulling my leg?" he asked.
"Nope. That's how I can do everything I do. Shadow travel, Umbrakinesis, necromancy, and pyrokinesis. All of it is my birthright from my father. I'm a demigod. Half mortal, half god." I rubbed my eyes tiredly.
"Bloody hell man." He whispered. I snickered.
"Hell is actually not very bloody. I would know, I live there." I smirked at his flabbergasted expression.
"You LIVE there?" he almost shrieked. I was suddenly very grateful for the sound barrier I had erected prior to this conversation.
"Yup, I mean my whole family is down there. My dad rules it, and my mom and sister are both dead. So yeah, I live there." My comment sobered him.
"Alright, so about these horcruxes. What are we going to do about them?" he asked.
"Not a clue. I need more information before I do anything rash. I don't want to run head first into this because that could result in your death and I don't think you want that to occur. Although it would solve the problem, we are trying not to solve it that manner." I sighed, and looked back at my homework.
"Question 5 has me stumped I complained. Neville shifted over.
"That's because you didn't read it correctly, it asked how many liters of cow's milk are needed, not how many livers of cow-men." Neville stated, a smirk on his lips. I pouted.
"Not my fault I have dyslexia! My brain is hard wired for reading ancient Greek, not professor Snape's gods-awful cursive!"
End of chapter 20
Ok, first off. OMG. I recently went and read all the reviews. and thank you guys so much! the story is still being worked on, please don't kill me!
also, I noticed a lot of you have questions/comments/hate for the Neville/Nico ship. so, I will attempt to answer/solve your problems.
1st, yes I realize Nev is a shy scared person. we are also talking about the guy who cut off Nagini's head in front of fricking Voldemort. he has courage inside him, and it comes out when he needs it. if you don't like the ship, then *shocker* DONT READ THE STORY. or, better yet, just ignore it. I tried not to make the ship the main focus. yes, I added in filler chapters of ship, but there's not any super important information hidden in those chapters.
2nd, Yes Nico will be injured... when and why is for me to know, and you to find out ;)
3rd, and final note; I realize there are a lot of you who ship solangelo. I too am a solangelo shipper. however, the ship didn't fit my story line, so it is not meant to be.
