(Clementine's Pov)
I was looking over to Violet as she talked with AJ and Mary, they were getting the truck ready and I was just sitting here with my old cane and I took a good look at it. I remember when Lee was telling me about this cane, how his dad used it to get shoplifters. I look up again to see Violet alone on the side, AJ and Mary gone to go put things in the truck she was rubbing her eyes a bit as she looked around. Then would clench her hands into fists sometimes. She does that sometimes now when she has her bad thoughts or anything resulting in that. I slowly get up and head over to her and she would look down at me. Her eyes were tired, she doesn't sleep much, she tosses and turns in her sleep, she's also been sleep talking a lot too, but I don't tell her that because it would make her feel even worse than what she is feeling at this moment.
"Hey you ok Clem?" She asked and I look to her.
"Yea I'm doing just fine, with the new leg and all." I say as I tapped the cane to it and she smiles a bit, but it wasn't the smile I was hopping for, it seemed real enough but it was different, I can't explain it all too well.
"That's good, I'm glad, so the kids have the last of our stuff loaded so we're going to head out in a few minutes." She tells me and I nod as she goes and grabs the keys to her bike. I come over to her and I grabbed her hand gently and she would look at me, sometimes she'll forget it's me and freak out, but it seems she's been doing ok on that, even a little is progress.
"You ok?" She asked me and I nod as I kissed her cheek.
"Yea, I'm fine like I said."
"Well I mean are you fine in other ways, not with just your leg." She says and I nod.
"Of course, I'm fine, just a bit worried is all, but that's normal these days." I tell her and she nods a bit.
"I worry too, but hey least we're all ok, I mean as ok people these days can get." She says and I nod in agreement. I watch as she grabbed her keys and clenched them in her hands a bit and I look to her as she looked at me.
"You know I love you right." She says and I nod as I look to her.
"Are you sure you're ok?" I asked and she nods.
"Yea, I'm all good, now come one we have to go get ready to head out in five minutes." She says and then heads away from me and I watch her a bit. I then head to the truck where AJ and Mary sit in their seats and I look to him as he starts up the truck and we all begin to head out.
"Violet, doesn't look good, does she?" I hear and look to AJ as he drove.
"You see it too hu?" I asked and he nods.
"She's been looking down lately, I saw her smoking this morning." She says and I look to her and I sigh.
"I can't stop her from doing that, I mean I could but I just… I don't know I just can't, do anything." I say as I watch Violet as she rode in the front of us.
"She's been talking with Minnie a lot." AJ says and I nod.
"I can't imagine what she went through, maybe Minnie does, I don't know, I can trust her though." I say as AJ kept driving and I kept watch for any Walkers in the tree line.
"She talks a lot in her sleep." Mary says.
"Yea, people do that." I tell her.
"Yea, my mom did that too, when she talked about Omid and you." She says and I sigh just a bit at this.
"Your mom was a good woman, I can't thank her enough after all she's done for me, even after Omid and the baby." I say as I lean back a bit in the chair and I rubbed my head a bit and felt the top of my head for my hat. I looked to see the vest Violet gave me to wear, her vest that is.
"I miss her." She says and I nod as I looked to AJ.
"I never knew my mom, but I know if I did, I'd miss her…. But Clementine and Violet took care of me, and I think of them as my parents." He says and I smile a bit as I looked to the road again.
"You know Violet told me you called her mom again." I say and he turned red in embarrassment.
"I uh, it just came out that's all." He says and I laugh a bit.
"It's ok, she kind of misses that." I tell him and he looked to me and I nod telling him it wasn't a lie. We drove for a good hour or two before we made a stop and we all got out our vehicles to stretch a bit. Violet comes over to me and leans up on the truck a bit as she watched the others.
"You going to ever relax at one point?" I asked and she looked down at me.
"I'm quite relaxed, just need to keep a watch out that's all." She says and I think.
"Hey, the next time we make a stop in a town area, you and I should go on a, scavenging hu? Like we use to?" I asked and she looked to me.
"Your leg though."
"Screw it, come on, nothing bad would happen, we can be careful, it would be great to just be alone, you and I." I tell her and she looked to me and sighs.
"I don't know Clem; I just don't want your leg to get damaged any more than it should be, I do need to get more material if I can find any though." She says as she thinks a bit.
"Come on, you know I hate being treated like a kid." I tell her.
"But I'm not treating you like a kid."
"Yes, you are, you won't let me go hunting and when you do it take a while, then when I want to go look for other materials you say no you'll do it, you can't do everything Violet."
"Yes, I can, I can do whatever it takes to keep you and the kids safe." She says and I look at her.
"This isn't Joan's-."
"DON'T!" She yells and looked to me a bit pissed then she slumps her shoulders and looks away.
"Don't say her name, don't bring her up I don't want to hear it, and I know this isn't like that place I just don't want you getting hurt." She says and I look to her.
"Then take me with you we can just have a small date, we haven't done that in so long." I tell her and she looked to me a bit then sighs.
"We can ask the others to watch the kids and go get some things… but the moment your leg starts hurting or anything we head right on back." She says and I nod.
"Of course, no problem at all with that." I tell her as I watch her expression.
"Ok… alright, we can do that." She says and I nod.
"Alright, it's a date." I say and she chuckled a bit.
"God, I wish I could have taken you on a proper date, if this world wasn't hell on earth that is." I hear her say and I nod.
"Hey, we're about to head out again." Aasim says and I nod as we all get ready and head out, I watched Violet again as she drove in front of us again and I look to AJ as he drove and then to the rearview mirror I see Mary as she would read the book Violet had found for her when she went on her little scavenging trips.
"Good book hu?" I asked and she nods.
"Yea, it's ok, it doesn't make sense though." She says.
"Oh?" I asked and she nods.
"Yea like, why would this girl want to date a vampire, he's dead, he's basically a walker." She says and I laughed a bit at this and I look to the road.
"Oh god, I forgot that was the books whole plot." I say as I look to the road.
"It's weird, he's basically a walker though, he's dead." She says and I nod.
"Not wrong, he's basically the living dead." I say.
"Right?" She says and I smiled.
"I there is this one book I read where, there were dragons um… can't remember it, but the cover was cool, it was blue and it had a blue dragon on it." AJ says and I smile as he drives some more and I just watch Violet as those two talked more on books that we could find for them; we did get them some old study books but what kid wants to study. Well AJ is different at this point.
"When we were at Joan's, they had these books about Holes." Mary says and I nod a bit at this as I see Violet slow down a bit.
"AJ slow down a bit." I say and he nods as he does so and I look to the front of us and I sigh as I see the wall of dead people.
"Jesus fucking Christ." I hear Violet say as I look next to her from the window.
"What do we do now?" I heard Louis say and I look to the wall.
"Is that a person?" I say, but once those words came out of my mouth there was a shot and I see Violet go down.
"SHIT!" Minnie yelled and I saw AJ try to get out but I pulled him back in the car.
"THAT WAS JUST A WARNING SHOT, YOU HEAR ME?!" I heard the man yell and I look at them.
"Fucking Christ." I hear and look to Violet as she held her chest which had some blood and I slowly open the door but another shot came from that direction and I closed the door quickly and looked to her.
"I SAID THAT WAS A WARNING SHOT!" The man yelled again and I head Violet mumble a bit and I watch the man as I slowly open the glovebox and grabbed three of the guns we had in there, I slowly passed one to AJ and then one to Mary.
"YOU SHOT OUR FRIEND YOU FUCKER!" Minnie yells and I look to her as she glared at the man, she looked pissed as all hell.
"YOU THINK I CARE? YOU WERE COMING HERE TO KILL MY PEOPLE!" The man yells and I look to see he has one arm. I look to Violet who looked like she passed out I hope.
"WE CAN TURN AROUND; WE JUST NEED TO HELP OUR FRIEND!" I yelled.
"NO, GET OUT THE DAMN CARS NOW!" He yells and I look to the others and I think.
"I WILL GET OUT JUST DON'T SHOOT, THEN OUR DOCTOR WILL ALSO GET OUT TO CHECK ON OUR FRIEND, DEAL?!" I asked as I watched the man come up a bit.
"That's fine with me, but I'm watching you." He says as he aimed his gun at us and I along with Ruby slowly got out the car, I leave my gun in the seat to show I wasn't armed and we go over to Violet, who opened her eyes a bit and looked to me.
"I'm ok… just hurts like a bitch." She says and I nod as Ruby looked at her chest a bit and I look to the man. He looked so familiar but I couldn't put my finger on it.
"Is she ok?" He asked and I look to him. Violet looked up a bit and she lays her head back.
"Damn, Russel, with one arm you sure are one hell of a shot." She says and I look to the man as he looked to Violet.
"Oh God, I'll…. I'll get Shel." He says scared as he runs off and Ruby starts to work on Violet.
"You know them?" she asked her and she nods a bit.
"Hmm, yea, tower, he got bit I helped." She mumbled a bit and Ruby looked to her. As she looked down to see some blood but not a lot and Violet gets up a bit.
"I just got winded…. Fuck that was scary." She says as she pulls her old dog tags from her shirt and we see the bullet lodged in the tag and she laughed a bit.
"Holy fuck." She says as she looked to me and chuckled.
"One god damn lucky shot." She says and lays back a bit and I look to her.
"Holy shit that…. One in a million." Ruby says and I nod as Violet looked to me.
"Ok…uh that… fucking hell." She mutters as she gets up once again and stands up.
"How in the hell did you not die?" Louis asked.
"Fucking lucky as hell that's how." She says and looked to her tags a bit and shakes her head as Russel comes back with more people.
"Oh, thank god you're ok." He says.
"It's all good, just… wow… adrenaline rush." She says and smiles a bit.
"VI!" I hear and AJ along with Mary run up and hug her and she hugs them back.
"Hey it's ok." She says.
"So, these are the kids hu?" Shel asked and Violet nodded.
"Yep, AJ and Mary." She says.
"You told her about us?" I asked and she looked to me and nods.
"Yea, it's fine though." She says and Shel nods.
"Yea, you did me and my group a huge favor when you took Carver down, now we're with a new group of people." She says and I nod as I look to them.
"Who's the new group you're with?" Violet asked.
"New Delta is what they call themselves?" She says and I look to her and I look to Minnie who froze up.
"Uh… Delta?" Violet asked and she nods.
"Yea, they aren't that old delta group though." Shel says and I look to her.
"What changed?" Minnie asked.
"Hmm, they say after Lilly died, they were able to do a lot more to help the community, actually we made a deal with some of the communities they were going to fight a few years back, we help each other out these days." Russel says and I look at Violet.
"Do groups merge in with each other?" She asked.
"Yea, we do, we have enough food and water, it's kind of peaceful you know." Becca says.
"Did… Did a woman named Joan pass by?" Violet asked and Shell looked at her and nodded.
"Yea, she did, last I heard her and her remaining group were heading out west." Shel says.
"Shit, fucking god damn it." Violet mutters.
"Is everything ok?" Bonnie asked.
"Um, no we were just planning on heading that way is all." Ruby says and Violet looked to them.
"thanks for the information." She says and I look to her a bit as I see rage in her eyes.
"Yea anytime, you know if you guys just want to stay a night or two with us you can, I'll make sure you guys are treated good." Shel says and I nod.
"Yea, thanks for the offer." I say and Violet shakes Shel's hand and we all get ready to head out once again.
"Hey, best way to head around this wall is to head that way." Bonnie says as she comes up to us and I look to her.
"And Clem, I'm… I'm sorry for everything wrong I've done." She tells me and I nod as I looked to her.
"It's fine Bonnie, it's in the past… sorry for any wrong I've done." I say back to her and she nods.
"All in the past." She says and I nod as I get in the truck and AJ also get in. the new group headed out and I looked to Violet who grabbed her chest a bit and looked down then back to the roads as she started up her motorcycle and began to head in the direction Bonnie pointed us to. It was a good while before we made another stop, Mary had fallen asleep in the truck and AJ need to get some rest too.
"I say we head this way than so we don't hit Joan's group." I hear Aasim tell Violet as they looked to the map.
"No, we keep going the way we're set, if we run into them, we can take them out." Violet says and I look to her as she looked down at the map. She slicked her hair back a bit as she looked up to Aasim and I went over to Omar and handed him some vegetables we brought with us.
"Violet seems determined to stay the path hu?" He says and I look to him.
"Seems that way, though sometimes when we go off the path we set, we always run into something bad." I say.
"Or if we stay the path it still ends up that way too, we just don't know what's in the way for us." He says and I nod a bit.
"What do you think we should do?" He asked as I watched him cook.
"Damned if I know… I just want everyone to stay safe." I tell him.
"I think I know why Violet really wants to head in the direction of Joan." He says and I look to him and I nod a bit knowing what he is going to say.
"She wants to do something bad I know." I say.
"Would you be ok with that?" He asked.
"I can't give her the closure she needs." I say as I look to her as AJ comes over to point out any directions we can go in, or to make any stops.
"He's grown up a lot." Omar says and I look to him and I nod.
"Yep, god I remember when I first met him." I joked a bit and Omar laughed a bit.
"He was so small… now he's almost as tall as violet so he beat me on height." I say as I look back to him.
"Well, he's a lucky one that is, he's got a really caring family." He says and I nod a bit.
"We can head this way Violet; I mean we won't run into them." Louis says and she sighs.
"Yea but they could have headed in that direction people change directions." She says with a sigh as she looked to the map more.
"We can head back to Georgia." I say and she looked to me then to the map.
"We'd be heading backwards." She says.
"I don't mind, we got plenty of time to go across the states, lets go to places we already know, I mean we are close to the school." I say and then they all look to me.
"Actually, that's not a bad idea, we can head back, get some old stuff we use to own, I mean it's smart at least we'd know where we are if we need to hide from people, hell we can go back to the-." But louis stopped as Violet slammed her hand on the table.
"We are not going back there." She says and I come up to her.
"Hey it was just an option… I didn't mean anything bad." He says.
"I can head that way; you know bury Tenn." Minnie says and I look to her. She looked sad and I think a bit and looked to Violet who was looking back down at the map, not really trying to figure out a plan but just to have something to look at.
"Hey why don't you guys let us talk alone." I suggested and Aasim and the others nodded as they left and I looked to Violet. She grabbed a pen and marked some places on the map and I looked to the map more.
"Violet…. I know you don't want to go back that way, but maybe you and Minnie can get come closure for Tenn. we don't mean to bring back what happened I know it affected you a lot but don't you think we should?" I asked and she looked at me.
"I don't want to see him like that." She says.
"You won't, the others and I can bury him, you can place the cross you made for him and Minnie can put flowers down." I say and she looked to me a bit and sighs as she thinks and rubs the bridge of her nose and I just give her time.
"Ok… ok yea, we can head that way, we can stop at the school grab some supplies we have if they're still good and so on, I think I left something there anyway." She mumbled as I nod.
"Alright than that's the plan?" I asked and she nods a bit as she looked to the side and I looked to see her looking at Minnie and I looked back to her as she looked to me and gave me a small smile.
"So, that shot hu?" She asked.
"You are one lucky bastard." I say and she laughed a bit.
"So, god damn lucky… how I'm alive I have no clue." She says and I look at her.
"You aren't having those bad thoughts, again are you?" I asked and she looked to the hood of the truck then to me.
"Not today, I was just pretty down but not like that." She says and I nod a bit and she holds my hand.
"Ok, yea we can head back to the farm and stuff, if no one is living there." She says and I forgot about the possibilities of someone going there to live.
"I didn't think that through." I admitted and she nods.
"It's fine but if no one is I think we'll be fine." She says and I nod a bit as we all get ready to eat and Mary is reading a book to Delilah and Aasim Jr.
"Having fun?" I asked and they all nodded and I couldn't help but smile at this.
"Alright, we need to go wash our hands." I hear ruby say as the kids get up and go to wash their hands. I look to them then to Ruby as she goes to help them and I look at Mary who was putting her book away and I sit next to her.
"You good?" I asked and she nods a bit as she looked to me then shakes her head a bit.
"What's wrong?" I asked.
"I uh… I just remembered my mom reading to me when we were on the road." She says and I nod a bit at this as I pull my legs to my chest.
"Yea, when I was little still Christa would read to me, and Omid would make these crazy voices to make it more fun." I say with a laugh.
"Can you tell me more about her?" she asked and before I could answer Omar called for dinner and I look at her.
"Why don't we get dinner and then we can talk." I say as we both get up and get our food. We all sit by the fire a bit and it was quiet before someone spoke up.
"Ehem, so remember when Mitch would make huge bonfires with his little homemade bombs?" Violet asked and we looked to her.
"Oh god that was fun." Aasim says.
"Yea, that was when he thought that was the last of the propane." Willy says and I watch them.
"Why don't we play a card game?' Louis asked as he pulled out his old cards.
"Shit, you still have those?" Violet asked and he nods as he passes the deck around.
"What's this game?" Omar asked.
"Just say whatever you want to say, anything really, even blow off some steam." He says and I look to the card deck and I pass it after pulling one at random. The highest card was Violet and we all looked to her and she looked to be thinking.
"Well if we can say something at random then I guess…. I really wish I had some pot right now." She says and I laugh.
"You smoked pot?" Ruby asked and Violet nodded.
"Yea, me and the others in Joan's group found some and I was like, fuck it might as well try it once, we talked a lot of bullshit, and said some stupid things." She says and I look at her.
"Stupid like?" Louis asked.
"Hmm, I once just started laughing when Juliet was saying the word Banana don't know why but it was funny, or Jonathan would talk about how Monkeys once stole his backpack when he went to the zoo during this bullshit, was funny when he said they flung shit at him." She says and we laughed a bit as we handed the cords back and passed them around. The high card this time was Louis.
"Random thing I got to say is…. I miss my Piano, or well I miss making music in general." He says and we all nod.
"Shit would I give to hear some good music." Willy said.
"You mean Country?" Violet says.
"Hell yea." Ruby and him say at the same time and we pass the cards back. The high card was me and I think as I look to them.
"It's kind of sad but… I miss everyone I've been with… Kenny, Lee, Duck even." I say as I look to the group as Violet looked to me a bit sad.
"I don't know I just… I just miss them, I miss my parents too, hell I even miss the Lilly I once knew, the nice one not… you know." I say and I see Violet nod a bit as we pass the cards. Mary got the high card and she took a good minute to think on this.
"I miss my friends at the school, and my mom, I don't know who my dad was so I can't miss him." She says and we pass the cards back, the next person was AJ.
"I miss… I miss my home in Texas." He says and I look to her.
"We were safe there, we had a good thing going, we just got scared of people coming and we left that because we were scared…. I like that everyone is kind of back together, but I really miss home." He says and I look at Violet who looked at him sadly as she rubbed her neck at this and I looked to AJ as we all passed the cards back. Ruby was the next one.
"I really miss our old friends at the school, hell I miss Brody." She says and I see Violet as she placed her hand on her face a bit.
"I was such a bitch to her…. I wish I could take it all back." We all hear her say.
"She literally died thinking I hated her, when Marlon was the one to cause her that pain to carry with the twins…. And I just blamed her because she was an easy target." She says and I watch her as she placed her arm on her lap a bit as she looked at the flames.
"I don't think she thought of you in that way after you talked." I say.
"Doesn't make it any better." She says as we passed the cards back. The next one was Omar.
"I miss my grandma, like a lot, she taught me to cook and all and I didn't think I'd want to be a cook, but after all this I'm glad I know how to make a good meal." He says and we pass the cards back and I watch the cards being passed again. Willy was the next one.
"I miss Tenn. I was mean to him when we were younger, and I hope he didn't think badly of me when I didn't talk to him that much back at the farm, I didn't want to bother him when he was drawing." He says as we hand the cards back and then Aasim is the next to go.
"I miss the school, when all this started, I was actually supposed to leave, but that place be it a dump and a place with some bad memories we still made good ones right?" He asked and we nod as we pass the cards back. We pass the cards around a few more times and then Violet pulls one card and she looked to everyone.
"I wish that bullet did kill me." She says and we all look at her.
"I don't know why, I was just thinking about it, I just… I don't want to feel this way and I don't mean to but if we can talk freely, I just want to say that… I wish Russel had killed me." She says as she grabbed the dog tags and looked to them the bullet still lodged in them as she sighed.
"Fucking funny that the one thing that proved I was… in that group is the one thing that saved me… after all that shit, I went through there and out here on the road…. God I honestly thought it was all going to be easy, shit Clementine made it look that way but now that I've experienced it, it's fucking bullshit, it sucks it's just…. people can be cruel when they don't get their way or they take advantages and I regret thinking that way…. It's just… hell on earth." She says as she hands the card back and I watch as she gets up.
"Sorry I'm done playing." She says as she leaves to our truck and I go over to her as she goes and sits in the driver's seat.
"Hey mind if I sit here?" I asked as I opened the passenger door and she looked to me and nods.
"Sure." She says and I look at her as she looked at her dog tags and twirled them in her hands.
"You want to talk?' I asked and she shook her head a bit and sighed.
"I mean I do but… I don't." she says and I nod.
"Hey we can talk about anything you want remember." I say to her and she nods.
"I know and well…. God, I don't know, I shouldn't have said that, I don't know why I did and in front of Aasim and Ruby's kids too." She ranted and I watch her as she looked to the window in front of us. We kept silent for a while before she moved her hands a bit making the dog tags clink a bit and I hold her hand. I then grabbed her dog tags from her and she looked at me and I looked at the tags as I read the name on them.
"Violet Everette, age thirty-one, damn girl you got old." I say and she laughed a bit at this.
"Hey you aren't to far off from being my age." She says and I nod a bit at this as I read the tag.
"Second in command, cute, blond, sexy." I say and she chuckled.
"I know those aren't on there." She says.
"Well they should be." I say to her as I looked to the tags.
"What that I'm blond?" She asked and I smile.
"Well you might want to put grey." I say and she laughed.
"Hey I know I'm old but I'm not that old." She says and I smiled at her.
"Pfft, I can see those grey hairs."
"Oh, really now?" She asked and I nod and she rolled her eyes a bit and I smiled at her.
"Come on old lady." I say.
"I'm not old." She groaned.
"Says the thirty-one-year-old." I say.
"Yea aren't you twenty-nine? You are almost thirty." She says and I nod.
"I got my moms genes, she still looked twenty in my age." I joke.
"You are in your twenties." She says and I see her smile as I smile back. We both laugh at this little joking banter and she leans her head back a bit as she looked to the ceiling.
"Sorry just tired, is all." She says and I nod at this.
"Yea I can see it, if you want to sleep you can, I won't blame you." I tell her and she nods.
"Yea, that would be great." She muttered as she closed her eyes a bit and I looked to the dog tags and then placed them in the glovebox, it wasn't my place to get rid of them it's up to her. I exit out the truck and head to the others as they get their area cleaned up and I grabbed the bowl I had and went to get it cleaned up.
"Violet ok?" Ruby asked and I nod a bit.
"Yea, just had a small chat, she seems ok for now." I say and she nods. We finish it up and Minnie comes over to me and I look to her.
"You ok?" I asked.
"Yea, just want to chat if that's ok." She asked and I look at her and I nod a bit to this as she helped me go clean the dishes since it was my turn to clean them.
"So… Violet and I talked." She says.
"Talked about?" I asked.
"Dumb things I suppose, we talked about Lilly, then Sophie, and how people would just blame others for this and that." She says and I nod.
"I also asked if she ever had the choice to take a life." She said and I looked at her.
"What did she say?" I asked.
"She talked about how she's killed people before… I never thought she would admit that though." She says.
"She's very different than what we're use to." I say to her.
"Yea but for her to bluntly admit that, I never thought she would."
"Yea, she's blunt now, when it comes to something like that, but other times she won't say anything when it shows weakness, she doesn't like to show weakness." I say to her.
"But still, even when we were younger, she wouldn't even act that way, and she killed walkers." She says to me.
"Joan messed with her, it's not the best thing and Joan didn't make things easy, I expected something like that to happen." I say.
"Expected?" She asked.
"After all the stuff that's happened with us, with her, I don't think she likes the idea of showing weakness, talking to her alone was a major pain to try and get her to just talk a little about these things, even back when Javier and David killed her friend, she wasn't the same." I tell her.
"I just… I wish she wasn't like this." She says as I looked to her.
"There's nothing we can do about it other than talk to her about it when she wants to, but it's hard sometimes, even with her… hallucinations getting to her, she's tired, sleep deprived, stressed, hell even learning that Joan is alive is starting to get with her and I know it. But I can't do anything about it unless she talks to me." I explain to her.
"I know, I know, I just…. like I said it's just weird that she would say that, I don't want to know her as this Violet just the old Violet, the one that would make jokes, the one that would just try and make us happy when we were down." She says and I look to her.
"You mean when you were down?" I asked and she looked to me and she nods a bit.
"Yea, she was really sweet when we were together that is." She says and I nod.
"Yea, when we were back at the school or the farm we would stargaze together, we even had small dates back at her home just walking around the wall she built for our home to stay defended, hell even going to get supplies was nice when we found something good." I say as I remember those moments.
"We use to dance a lot too." I say.
"Sounds sweet." She says and I nod at this.
"Yea, it always was sweet." I say as I remember when we danced in Howes and I looked to Minnie.
"Look, Violet won't be the same again, she's gone through things that I personally haven't gone through, and I know that stuff messes with people's heads, I knew people in that situation…. The best thing we can do right now is just talk to her when she feels like she want's to, not when we want her to, we ask her." I say putting emphasis on how it's up to Violet to talk on her own terms.
"Unless we really need to talk to her, I mean, I know to respect her choice but if it get's bad we have to step in." She says.
"And I will, I've done it before, and one time it just went bad she didn't talk to me for a few days, even back at Joan's when I did see her, she just got mad and I didn't know." I tell Minnie and she nods.
"Ok, ok, I'll respect that… well we're done with dishes, nice having that talk." She says and I nod as I take the clean dry dishes and set them away and I looked at the fire then back to the truck. I then went to the truck and I saw AJ and Mary in the back asleep and I get in the passenger's side and I looked over to Violet who was covered by a blanket. She was so peaceful when she was asleep and it was the only time to see her in this state, she wasn't stressed, she wasn't scared, she was just calmed and finally getting some well-deserved rest, even as she snored a bit which usually meant she was in her deep sleep. I grabbed the blanket on the floor in front of me and covered myself up, I closed my eyes as I finally fell asleep, just wondering what's going to happen tomorrow.
