(Violet's Pov)
I was woken up with a swift kick to the gut and I gasped for air as I coughed a bit as well when I opened my eyes and I looked up to see Joan with a bat in hand. I looked to the window in the loft to see that it was still dark out and I glared at her as she just smiled at me.
"Did I wake you from your nap?" She asked and I looked to her as I spat blood on her shirt and she glared back at me. She pulled her knife out and placed it against my face cutting into my skin from my cheek and down to my lips making it burn and sting like hell. I'm guessing it would leave a scar there after some time passes. I glared to her as she looked back to me and placed the knife back into my pocket and I spit the blood from my mouth as best as I could but I could still taste the iron that was in the blood.
"Now that wasn't nice, even after I let your so-called family stay in the house." She says and I didn't say a word to her as she twirled the bat a bit and I looked to her as she walked around me and I just stayed where I was. I didn't try to move as she placed the bat under my chin and she looked me dead in the eye.
"What do you want?" I asked her and she laughed at this.
"Oh, dear me, I don't want anything."
"Bullshit." I say as I pull at the rope and she glared at me as she lowered the bat to my leg and I glared at her.
"I just want you to join your real family once more, you can redeem yourself to them if you prove you won't abandoned us again." She says and I just look to her and she sighs.
"How about we make a deal?" She says.
"The deals you make mean nothing." I tell her.
"Oh, but this one will mean something, something to you that is." She says and I just watched her more.
"What kind of deal and how would I know you won't go back on it?" I ask her and she smirked at me as she takes a small stool and sits in front of me.
"The deal is, you join us and I let your friends go." She says and I laughed at this.
"You think I'm stupid? You could have just used that against me to begin with, what? Is your old age getting to you?" I laughed and she looked to me as she placed the bat to my cheek and I looked to her.
"I wouldn't joke about that, you'll get old too, and your friends would use it against you, you know it, and I know it." She says and I watch her as she moved the bat back down and I think a bit as I looked to her. How can I trust her now when I should have known from the beginning?
"I want to see this promise be kept, you let me watch them be taken back home, you don't harm them in any way, if they do the deal is off and I'll fucking slaughter all of you." I tell her and she looked to me a bit and she does take some time to think on it.
"That's the only offer I will be making on this matter, you arm them, you get harmed back, eye for an eye, that's the rule and that will be the deal, or no deal at all." I tell her and she looked to me and smiled.
"You were a good negotiator, that's why I picked you, alright we have a deal, none of the people in that group will be harmed and you will watch to make sure of it." She says and I take a good look to her and she comes up behind the poll and unties my hands and I rubbed my wrists as I looked to her and she looked back to me.
"But the same goes with you and them, you don't let them harm us and we wont harm them, eye for an eye as you said." She says and I nod to this as I get up a bit and lean on the poll a bit as I try to keep steady. I watch as she leaves to the front of the barn and then waits for me, I take the time I could and I follow her as she takes me close to the house and I looked to the window to see the lights on still. I looked around a bit as I fee people posted around the house along with people coming and going to the fenced area of the farmland and I looked to Mary and Tenn's graves. I sigh as I looked to the house once more and we go up the porch and to the front of the door. I see Clementine as she glared at one of the guards, AJ was copying her as well, Minnie looked pissed as all hell with Willy, Ruby and Aasim were looking at their kids and I take a deep breath as Joan opened the door and I walked in.
"What is she doing untied?" Delta asked as he pointed his rifle at me and I looked to him.
"I wouldn't do that Delta, Violet and I have come to a small but big agreement that I think everyone here should hear he say." Joan tell him and he lowered his gun a bit and I take a breath and looked to the others as I sigh just a bit and looked to them sadly.
"I have made an agreement with Joan, for you guys to be taken back to the school safely…. So long as I redeem myself in this community and stay with her." I tell them.
"NO!" Clem yelled as she tried to get up but was shoved back down by Delta.
"HEY!" I yelled to him and he looked to me.
"THEY ARE NOT TO BE HARMED IN ANY WAY IF THEY ARE I WILL KILL YOU!" I yelled at him and he looked to me then to Joan who I think nodded at this as he looked back to me and lowered his rifle completely. I look to the others as they looked back to me and I sigh and rubbed my face a bit and slicked my hair back a bit and I take a good look at them.
"We don't harm them and they don't harm you guys, that is the deal we have come to and that is what we will go by…. I will be with you all as they escort you back and then if you want you can leave the school, they will not track you don't and you will not come back to this community." I tell them and I looked to Joan who nodded in agreement with this and I looked to Clementine and AJ.
"You can't do this not after all she's done to you and us, this is bullshit." AJ says and Delta glared at him and I looked to him.
"AJ this is the only agreement we have and I agreed to it so you and Clem and the others can be safe." I tell him.
"But they're taking our home, they're taking you away, you can't leave us…. You can't leave me Mom." He says and I wanted to cry but not now, I won't let Joan have that satisfaction.
"AJ the deal was made you and the others have no choice." I tell them all and they looked to me.
"Vi." I hear and looked to Minnie and Louis.
"We will let you all leave in the morning, least it will give you time to sleep, get rested up and we will give you some supplies." Joan says and she comes up behind me and places a hand on my shoulder and I look at Clementine who just looked to the ground. She couldn't look me in the eyes and that hurt more than anything.
"Alright, lets get you all to bed than, and Violet you can stay down here." Joan says as the others were taken to the rooms up the stairs and I sigh as I take a seat on the couch and looked to Delta, Kelly, Juliet, and Diana as they watched me and I rubbed my face as Joan left the house and I looked to the fire that was made.
"You literally made a deal with the devil." Juliet says to me and I nod.
"It's all I can think of right now…. So, don't tell me I did wrong cause I know…. I know I hurt them but I have no other option at this point in my life." I say and looked up to them as they watched me.
"I thought we were going to help you?" Juliet says.
"Wait what?" Delta says.
"You don't have to worry about that now so it's fine." I tell her and she looked to me and I sighed as I rubbed the back of my head and I felt a blanket on my shoulders and I looked to see Kelly and she leaned in front of me and I looked to her.
"I'm sorry." She says and I nod a bit as I lay down and turn my back to them. I don't think they minded, I hoped they knew why I'm acting like this. I don't want to talk to anyone right now. I slept for a while before I was woken up and I turned my head a bit to see Juliet and I sighed a bit as I got up a bit and felt bandages on my face. I looked to her as she looked to the bag of medicine and bandages and I nod to her as I looked to see everyone walking down the stairs and Clem sill didn't look to me. I didn't blame her at this point, how could I? I looked at the door as I heard it open and I see Joan walking in with a bag and she hands it out to me and the other lackies also had a few bags for the others. I watched as they untied Clem and the others and I rubbed my neck a bit as I put the backpack on and I watched them all leave and I walked behind them. They all piled into the truck and I got in the back with them and I sat next to AJ and I looked to Clementine as she still didn't look to me.
"Clem." I say and she glared at me and I looked to her as they started the truck and began to drive and I rubbed my neck as she looked away.
"Clem please look at me." I say and she looked to me and I take a deep breath.
"Please, just understand why I made this deal." I tell her and she glared at me.
"You are leaving us again to be with this fucking group, you did it a year ago and you're doing it again." She accused me and I looked down and shook my head.
"No, it's not like that, I just want you all safe." I tell her.
"Safe? You think this is safe? How do you know they won't go back on their word?" She mocked and I watched as she clenched her hands into fists.
"I would never agree to this if I had a different option, I would take it, Clementine I don't want to be around her, she makes me so uncomfortable, I hat it when she called me her flower or sweetie, it's sick…. I just…. just give me time I will find a way out myself but right now I want you and the others to leave the school go wherever the hell you want to go please." I tell her and she looked at me and I looked her in the eye.
"I will find a way out on my own, just getting you all out this way is better and safer than what we had originally planned." I whispered to her harshly.
"I didn't want the kids to get hurt, I didn't want AJ to get hurt, I especially didn't want you to get hurt, I couldn't live with myself if you did or if any of you did for that matter, now please just do this one thing for me…. Please." I begged and she looked to me and nods softly and she looked away from me. It was a few hours before we got to the school and we were all let out of the back and I watched them all as they grabbed their bags, the others didn't look at me, only Clementine and AJ and I sigh as I looked to him.
"Please keep Clem safe AJ." I tell him and he nods as they all head into the school and I looked to Clementine as I helped her a bit to the school's gate and she turned to me and gave me a kiss on the lips and I looked at her.
"Please come back safe, AJ and I will try to go to Texas." She says and I nod as I looked to the other lackies as they pointed their guns on me. I looked at her once again and she gave me the sad look in her eyes.
"I promise I will do whatever I can to get back to you." I tell her.
"Please… please don't get hurt, please don't die." She says and I nod as I hugged her as tightly as I could but to not hurt her. She hugged me back and I cried a little and I felt my shirt get wet and I rubbed her back.
"HURRY UP!" I heard and I pulled away from Clementine and she looked at me and I nod a bit as I pulled away from her. She grabbed something from the old vest as I felt her place something in my hands. I closed my eyes a bit and I backed away from her. I closed the gate and walked back to the truck and I seat myself in the back of the truck and they drive me away and I just watched as the school's walls got smaller and smaller. I sighed as I held my hands together then looked at what was in my hands to see the image of Clementine and me together at the farm when we took photos together. I covered my mouth a bit as I put it in my jacket pocket by my heart and I placed my hand over it. It was once again hours before we got back to the farm and I looked to the fence. I saw the guards posted up at the fences and I was taken up to the house where I got out the truck and I looked to see Joan sitting on the porch swing and she looked to me as she took a sip of whatever warm liquid she had. I looked to see the others gone and I just watched her a she watched me, she then stood up and came over to me and placed her hand on my shoulder and I glared at her.
"You did the right thing Violet, trust me when I say that this was a good call." She says and I move away from her and she looked to me.
"Now come on, we have plans, you want to go after the Garcias don't you?" She says as she walked back up to the porch and I then followed her. I placed the bag by the door and I went to the kitchen table. I saw all kinds of maps spread out on the table and I looked to see the words New Delta set out on the maps as well.
"New Delta?" I asked and she nods.
"Yea I heard they were a new group of people that some of our old members had joined, kind of like a play on words to the New Frontier, disgusting." She says and I look at her.
"And you think the Garcias are part of that?" I asked and she nods.
"You know they have to be, come on Violet, you remember what they did to you… what they did to Romeo, don't you want to get them back for what they had done to this group, ever since they captured you things have not been going well for you." She says and I looked to her then to the map as I breath a bit and I looked at the maps.
"I know others in that group they don't know anything about the Garcias, I don't want them hurt either." I tell her and she looked to me as I looked to her.
"Now we are getting somewhere, who are these people?" she asked and I looked to her.
"No one you need to know about, I will just tell you not to hurt them." I say and looked at the maps more.
"What our people kill them Violet?" She asked and I looked to her then to the ground a bit.
"I will get to them first then." I tell her and she shrugged and I nod at this. We looked to the maps a bit and I coughed a bit as I held my chest a bit and I looked back to the maps then looked to see Joan looking back to me and I shook my head a bit at this. I then moved away from the maps and rubbed my eyes a bit and then looked to the side as I saw more people being posted at the houses side doors and I shake my head a bit at this.
"If this is about the people posted outside the house then you can tell them to leave." She says and I looked to her and shook my head a bit.
"Don't want to be left alone?" She aske and I looked to her then back to the doors and I shook my head at this.
"No… no I don't so don't ask." I tell her and she looked to the map then to the door and I saw someone looking at us and I kept a close eye on them. They kept their post and I watched them more and then looked to the map. Hours passed and I made a plan and I sighed as she had left and I sighed and sat on the couch and then looked to fireplace as the fire was about to go out. I go and set some logs on the fire and let it burn some more and I sigh a bit at this as I looked at the flames as they got bigger and bigger. The house got warmed up a bit and I think to what Clementine would be doing right now.
"She's probably calling me a bitch right now." I joked a bit to myself and I pulled the photo out of my jacket pocket and looked at it. We were so young, we had life to us, we were happy when we found this place, we were still just kids at this point in our lives. We had so much time on our hands. I remembered Clementine as she would make some stupid jokes from a book she found in the attic and I just laughed a bit at this memory.
"Oh god…. I'll come back Clem I will I promise I will." I say to myself and I got up and looked around the house a bit. Some of our old things were still here and I go up to the room Clem and I shared. I saw some of our things still in place the dead flowers in the vase we had. Clementine would pick flowers and place them in the vase in this room, saying we need a little color in this dull room. I looked around more and saw an old photo we had of AJ Clem and I when we were in the garden working on it, I was trying to teach Clementine how to grow plants since she never really did this on her own but we had so much fun learning with Ruby, who was the one that took the picture. I looked to see Minnie off on the side trying to run out the picture and Louis who of course was a bit blurred out since he was trying to get in the picture. I sighed a bit and set the photo onto the nightstand and looked around some more.
"Just got to figure a way out of here and get back to Clem and AJ, that's all I have to do." I muttered to myself and I heard some knocking on the front door. A bit curious at the sound I head don the stairs and looked to see Juliet and Kelly standing there and I hurry to let them in as they shivered a bit from the cold. I hope Clem and them got the school warmed up with the wood we kept there in the green house.
"What's going on?" I asked.
"Look, we know Joan wants to take you to go destroy the Garcia community, you know of it right?" She asked.
"Um apparently it's New Delta?" I asked and they nodded.
"Here's the thing though, there are other group members we know that are in there, they're just doing a bit of recon to be an inside job you know, but we have a list of who they are so we won't kill anyone there, we just need to keep as many people alive there just to sort them out." Juliet explained.
"And Joan didn't tell me this why? I mean she told me there was people from this group in there but just that they joined." I say and they looked to me.
"Maybe she thought you'd do what you'd do an keep people alive?" Kelly asked and I think.
"No, I just want to go after the Garcias, that's it." I say and they nods.
"Ok, so that makes things a bit easier." Juliet says and I nod.
"Look I want you two to keep tabs on anyone that leaves this farm I need them to say where they are going and for how long they will be gone for." I tell them.
"Don't you think this should be told to everyone?" Kelly asked and I shook my head at this.
"No, people will lie than or give themselves more time, just get them to say where they are going and for how long, if one of you can tag along with the group as well just to make sure they aren't lying, I may have made a deal with Joan but knowing her, she'd go back on it at any point in time." I say and they nod.
"Ok, that's fair." Kelly says and I nod.
"If you have to write it down, so if anything goes bad then we can get them for what they did, list the amount of people that leave and get their names if you can too, that would make things easy, if one person goes missing ask what happened if they don't you report to me and we will have a trial." I say and they nod and I nod as I go and grab a notebook and pen for each of them.
"What if they ask questions?" Juliet asked.
"You tell them if they don't answer then they can answer to me…. I don't want to hurt anybody but I don't want anyone to go near the school of my family." I tell them and they nod as they leave the house and I just looked to the door. I sigh a bit as I go to the bathroom and check on my wounds on my cheek and I glared as the scaring and ran the water and I washed my face a bit and hissed at the mark burned a bit and I sighed and looked to the mirror and shook my head as I went in the cabinets and looked in the mirror to see the blood pouring again and I groaned a bit as I looked for any type of needle and thread. I didn't find any and I shook my head as I slammed the mirror and glared at my image and I shook my head as I patched my face again and saw some of the blood show from the bandages and I shake my head and looked to the door and not my image. I shake my head once more and I head to bed and fell into a deep sleep. Once again, I was woken up but to a door being knocked so I get up and hurry down to the front door and looked to see Joan and Delta.
"We have an Issue?" I asked and they looked to me.
"No, we just thought you'd like a bit of a tour of the community." Joan says and I looked to Delta and then back to Joan who was looking at me.
"Just you and I not Delta or anyone else… we can swap ideas." She says and I looked to Delta as he leaves and I closed the door and followed Joan by her side, I can't trust her to be behind me and I know she wouldn't be to kind to the idea of me being behind her either.
"Look at all this, feels like the old home hu?" She asked and I looked around as I saw some homes being build on the land and I saw the panel being worked on once more.
"Soon enough we can get things back to the way they were in the old community." She says.
"What about the rules of kid killing… we going to beat them to death or are you just going to let Mary's death slide?" I asked and she looked to me.
"Do you want the person who shot her to seek punishment?" she asked and I looked to her.
"You'd be hung too because you made the call." I tell her and she looked to me.
"You know they wouldn't hurt me; besides I didn't pull that trigger and they didn't have to shoot the girl." She says and I get pissed.
"Mary, that girls name was Mary, Mary Everett and you will respect her by calling her by her name." I say to her pissed off and she looked to me and nods a bit at this.
"Alright, I'll keep that in mind." She says and I watch her as she starts to walk some more and I follow as well.
"So, what do you think we should do now?" she asked and I look around.
"Keep a list of where people are going, groups, how long…. You know just in case one group member decided to go missing and we find them dead you know." I offered.
"Sure, we can do that, that's smart… anyone in mind?" she asked and I looked to her.
"I got Kelly and Juliet on the job for that, hope that doesn't bother you?" I asked not really caring weather she was ok with it or not.
"Sure, smart thinking, when did you start this?" She asked.
"Last night, it's easy to know who came and left last night." I tell her and she nods at this and I looked around.
"Anything else?" She asked and I looked to the people as I heard gun shots and saw some walkers go down.
"You know these fences are wired right?" I asked.
"Oh, are they? That's good to know." She says and I nod a bit to this as I plan things out.
"No need to waste bullets." I say and look around and then I felt a hand on my cheek and I backed up and looked to her as she put her hand down and I shook my head.
"Don't, don't fucking touch me." I tell her and she nods and I keep my distance from her as we looked around the whole farm I pointed some things out just to make good on Joan's side as she would just talk and talk about how things would get better, how this was a good plan, how we should plan things out and how we would go after the Garcia's make them pay for what they had done. I watched as they grabbed something and looked to see them grabbing something familiar and I glared as they were taking it to a burning pile and I go up to them.
"DON'T BURN THAT!" I yelled to them and they looked to me.
"It's just a piece of wood with names." One man said and I glared at him as I grabbed the plaque and looked at the names.
"Joan you need to control this bitch." The same man said and I glared at him.
"Now Keith, don't be saying that." She says and I looked to him.
"What, it's a fucking piece of wood." He says and I glared at him.
"This fucking piece of wood as you call it, has some sentimental value, now if you want we can take something of yours and fucking burn it, how about that?" I asked and he looked to Joan.
"You can't just let her talk like that." He says and laughed a bit then looked to me and looked to her as he slowly stopped the laughing when Joan wasn't going to back down on this.
"Joan." He says and I looked to him.
"If you burn her stuff, she will be burning your things as well, fair is fair Keith." She says and I gripped the piece of wood with the names of all the people Clem knew, the people I knew, everyone, we all knew on this plaque, Memories.
"Fucking stupid, you let her take charge after what she did? This is bullshit." He says pissed.
"You should head back to your home Violet." Joan says and I looked to her then to him and I shake my head as I head back to the original farm and I sigh as I looked to the names and saw Lee on there, I shake my head a bit as I go into the house and place the plaque above the fireplace and I sigh just a bit as I put some more logs on burnt wood embers and I shake my head as I looked to the window as I saw another person watching the house. I knew she had people keeping an eye on me to make sure I didn't do anything out of place. I knew it was going to be a bit hard on me to figure out a perfect plan to escape the farm house and I shook my head a bit as I look to the maps and mark some areas and I just shook my head a bit and sat down in the chair. I rubbed my eyes a bit and looked to the side and thought about getting a drink from the kitchen and I slowly get up and grab a glass. I looked to see some water in the fridge and I just look at it for a while and I go grab a pen and pad as I write down some items to get before, I leave and then to get someone from this side to deliver some supplies to Clem and the others. If I can do this then one day on my way out, I can get to the school and we can run like hell out of this stupid ass state, and just go back home. A safe place for Clem and AJ, and the kids and others.
"I'll get out of here and I'll be back with Clem and AJ." I say to myself and I repeat this over and over to myself as I try to make a plan, I can't help but keep this in my head as I repeat it over and over in my head.
"Made a deal with a Devil Violet, you made a stupid deal with the Devil." I say to myself and I grab the water and I pour me a glass. I shake my head as I take a drink and I go and lock all the doors and windows as I try to keep the house warm, or as warm as I could get it to be. I looked around the house as I rubbed my neck and took a drink of water and I set the glass down on the table and looked around the house.
"Maybe I can take the farm back." I muttered and thought.
"No… no we can't do that." I think a bit more.
"No we head back home, my home we stay there we shoot any fucker that comes in, unless they have kids we keep the kids safe…. Fuck." I muttered more and looked around the house some more and I punched the wall as I got angry.
"FUCK!" I yelled as I looked at my hand and saw the blood and I hear a knock on the door and I growl lowly to myself and I looked to the door pissed and I go too it and unlock it, I pulled the door back so hard it hit the wall and I glared at whoever was there. It was Delta that I saw.
"The fuck do you want?" I asked him.
"Woah, calm down." He tells me.
"Don't fucking tell me to calm down alright? Now what the fuck do you want?" I asked pissed and he looked to me.
"I heard about Keith." He says and I looked to him.
"Shut the fuck up." I tell him.
"What the hell?" He asked.
"No, don't pull that shit with me, I'm not going to give you fucking brownie points just for sympathy." I tell him.
"I'm not asking for brownie points I'm just saying I heard what Keith was going to do." He says.
"So?" I asked.
"Well shit I mean this use to be your home, none of your things should be burnt and I feel bad you know… Keith sounded pissed." He says and I looked at him.
"Then keep an eye on him, you find anything important to him then bring it to me and I'll use it as leverage." I tell him and he looked to me.
"You can't be serious." He says.
"No, I am deadly serious, I won't show any kindness like I did when I was first in charge, I will not take to kind to people burning my things…. And that Keith guy, if he starts anything or say anything bad on me then I need you to fucking tell me or I'll have your ass handed to you do you understand me?" I asked him and he looked to me and he nods at this and I watched him as he was going down the steps and I think as I go out and I grabbed his shirt and looked to him as he turned to me.
"Do not say anything on this ok?" I asked him and he nods.
"I just want my things safe; I want my family's things safe; you would do the same in my situation." I tell him.
"Yea… Yea I know… Sorry just… I don't know all that's going on." He says and I nod and I let him go as he left, I went back inside and I looked around. I remember all the good times that we had hear and I take a deep breath and I head up to my room and I look at the bed a bit and I shake my head a bit and rubbed my neck as I watched the window and saw the stars. I see the constellations and I see the Knife, Bird, Fish, Heart, all the stars we had made images of and I rubbed my face and I sit at the desk as I think things over and over again and I rubbed my head a bit and I lay my head on the desk and closed my eyes as I finally fell asleep.
