Slamming my hand down on the alarm, I sat up wide-eyed and in shock before remembering what I had done last night and how I needed to get myself and Daniel out of here before Ma has a chance to wake up.
Throwing back my covers, I quickly washed and pulled my outfit for the day from my closet. A pair of black high-waisted shorts, a checked crop top, vans, and the jewelry I had got for my birthday.
Getting dressed as quickly as I could, I opened my door and carefully tip-toeing out into the hall I listened for any noise or signs that Ma was awake if I got caught now, I wasn't going to be dead, but I would wish I was.
I knew it was very, if not highly likely, that Ma was going to find out what I did, but If she found out that I had forged her signature before we had a chance to leave, I would be grounded until the end of time.
After hearing nothing but my own anxious breathing, I quickly crept into my brother's room and not so softly nudging him awake, only stopping to grin when he jerks awake with a snort.
"Wake up idiot face" I hiss when he tries to roll over and go back to sleep, he lets out a groan before blindly turning his clock towards himself and rubbed the sleep from his eyes.
"Kat? Why are we-"
Shaking my head I stopped him from talking "Just get dressed and meet me at the door, Ma's still asleep so be quiet" I crept back out of the room and into the kitchen to put some bread in the toaster.
Pulling on my shoes, I checked myself over and put Daniel's bag together before seeing my brother tiredly slump his way out of his bedroom, hair sticking up in all directions before the toaster pops up.
Grabbing my brother's arm, I shoved a slice of toast in his mouth and his bag into his arms. "Move, now," I say, taking the other slice of toast and hustling him out of the apartment just as I heard Ma's alarm go off.
"Ma didn't sign the form, did she?" I heard Daniel ask as we both jogged down the stairs and towards Mr. Miyagi'. My brother grabbed my arm and pulled me to a stop as we reached the alley to the maintenance building, "You did."
I searched his eyes for any anger, but I didn't find even the tiniest bit "How do you think I got out of detention so many times" I joked as my brother gave me a smile before it dropped away completely.
"Oh, man! She's going to kill us", he ranted with his hand on his forehead. "Well, that's if Johnny and the others don't do it before Ma can get to me," giving my brother a small smile I felt pity well up inside me.
"You'll be fine, Daniel, I know you can do this" My twin glanced at me as he bit his thumb anxiously. "This sounds horrible, but this is the first time in our lives I fully believe in you."
"Really?" Daniel questioned, letting his arms drop by his sides as our small talk became deep. "I'm just... scared, I guess".
I let out a humored breath as I patted my brother on the shoulder "It's normal to be scared about something like this if you weren't then I would be worried" I say honestly as we glanced at each other "Plus only one of us gets to get to be the cold-hearted twin, and that's me."
Daniel just let out a small chuckle before his face becomes serious. "You know I'll understand if you want to be with Johnny when we get there. I know he's probably asked you to be there for him".
Grinning at my brother's newfound maturity, I shook my head "I'll be there for him, but you're my big brother, and I'll be there for you too" Seeing his smirk I pushed him gently "Come on let's go before I start to think you like me."
My twin just nodded as we rounded the corner to Miyagi's maintenance place "I do you know, like you" Daniel muttered as we knocked on the door and waited for any sign of the Japanese man.
Biting the inside of my cheek to stop the wide smile from appearing, I sighed slowly, "I know you do," a beat passed as I groaned. "I guess I kinda like you too, but I still think you're a booger."
