It has been about 6 years since the end of the Second Wizarding War. Harry and Ginny had gotten married just 2 years earlier. Harry was on a walk and was walking by the Rowle mansion on the 20th of July when he saw them throw a young girl with silvery blue hair and brown eyes out of the gate.
A female shouted, "Get out! We don't want you. We only took you in because we were getting paid. You're not even worth that. Shoo, Delphini Riddle."
Harry recognized the last name, but saw the 6 year old girl on the ground more than anything. She was crying her eyes out. He ran over. "Hey, hey, hey. Calm down. What's your name?"
"Delphini Riddle." She answered wiping the tears from her eyes. The girl saw the shock cross the man's face but it was fleeting and his face took on a sympathetic look.
"Who was that?" Harry asked, bringing her over to the side.
"Euphemia Rowle. She's been my guardian since I was born. But she's told me often that she hated me and didn't want me. I guess my exploding my room was the breaking point." Delphini started crying again.
"Do you want to come home with me?" Harry asked.
"Who are you even?" Delphini asked.
"Harry Potter." Harry answered.
"Do you know who my parents are?" Delphini didn't seem to ask him like he was below her, but like she was scared of what he'd think.
"Bellatrix Black Lestrange and Tom Riddle aka Lord Voldemort?" Harry asked it more as a statement.
"Yeah. Don't you hate me for it?" Delphini asked meekly.
"No." Harry answered easily.
"Why not?" Delphini was confused.
"Because last time I checked, your name was Delphini Riddle, not Bellatrix Black Lestrange, not Tom Marvolo Riddle and not Lord Voldemort." Harry told her smiling. "So what do you say? You want to come back to my and my wife's house? We'll give you a warm home and food and put clothes on your back."
"You'd really let me live with you?" Delphini was confused, but then got serious. "What's in it for you?"
"What do you mean?" Harry was the confused one now.
"The Rowles only took me in because they were getting paid. Are you getting money?" Delphini asked, condescendingly.
"Well, yes. But not for taking you in. I'm getting money from my job." Harry joked.
"Then yeah. Thank you." Delphini hugged him.
Harry and Delphini stood up. "Well, Delphini. Do you have any other family?"
"Yeah. My mother's two sisters. But Aunt Narcissa has made it very clear that she does not want me either and I've never met her other sister, but considering my mother nearly killed her husband, I doubt she'd want me." Delphini hung her head.
"Well, you can stay with us as long as you like." Harry told her. He grabbed the large duffel bag that Euphemia had thrown out of the gate. The two of them walked to Harry's house and Ginny answered the door.
"Harry! I was starting to get worried. You were gone so long." Ginny said.
"I know, sorry Gin. I got a little sidetracked. Delph!" Harry called behind him. The six year old girl walked out from behind Harry shyly.
"Oh, you're so cute." Ginny crouched down and tickled her chin.
"Let's get Delphi a room and then I'll explain." Harry said. They led Delphi through the entrance hall and up the stairs, walked around the banister to a room. "So in here, you have a closet and a bathroom. I'll let you unpack, then why don't you come down to the first door on the right you saw when you walked in okay?"
When Delphi nodded in agreement, Harry brough Ginny downstairs. "So, where'd you get the kid?" Ginny asked.
"She was thrown out of the house that she was staying at." Harry explained and Ginny gasped.
"Her parents?" Ginny asked.
"No." Harry responded. "Euphemia Rowle. Her parents were both killed in the war." Harry said.
"Who are her parents? No way the Rowles would take in someone from two people on our side." Ginny commented, getting suspicious.
"Bellatrix Lestrange and Tom Riddle." Harry told her, wincing.
"What? She's dangerous." Ginny told him.
"Why? Because of her parents? She was born, as far as I know based on her age and birthday, just about 11 or 12 weeks before the Battle of Hogwarts. Why would you blame a child for what her parents did?" Harry asked.
"You're right. I'm sorry. But, what if becoming the next Dark Lord is her destiny?" Ginny asked.
"Voldemort became Voldemort because he grew up with no one loving him. No one he could love. No one to teach him love. Now, granted, he could not love, literally. Delphi can though, and I don't think we should blame a child for things that happened before she could talk." Harry told her.
"You're right. Let's go to the Ministry. If there aren't any records of her, we'll have to make one and if there are and she has a godparent, she is supposed to go to them. If not, I am 100% excited about adopting a daughter." Ginny told him smiling. Using Legilimency, Harry learned that she really meant it. "But, why don't we get your sister first?"
"Thank you Gin." Harry said, kissing her. He went and flooed his sister, Melody Lily who went by Lily, telling her all about the new girl. Lily said that she'd meet them at the Ministry soon.
"Now, can I tell you my news?" Ginny asked, grinning.
"Of course." Harry nodded.
"Go open the box." Ginny pointed behind Harry to a box sitting there.
"Okay?" Harry went over and opened it. Inside, there was a little onesie that said, "Hi, Daddy." It was white with gold writing. "Ginny, you're pregnant?" Harry asked, sweeping her up and hugging her.
"Yeah." Ginny confirmed smiling.
"I'm so happy." Harry said, hugging and kissing her.
"Well, about Delphi, why don't we head to the ministry?" Ginny suggested.
"Yeah." Harry nodded. "I'll go get her. We can floo over."
"Okay. I'll go get it. I can floo until I start my third trimester." Ginny told him.
"Oh wait, I want to ask you, what would you think about it if I quit being an auror?" Harry asked, getting serious again.
"Why? I thought you like being an auror." Ginny asked, confused.
"I did. But I started hating it a few months ago. I keep getting swarmed there," Harry told her. "It's so incredibly strict and the assignments keep taking me away from you for extended periods of time."
"Well, if it doesn't feel right to you, then quit." Ginny encouraged. "But, what are you gonna do otherwise?"
"I was thinking about asking McGongagall if I can take the post as DADA professor. I took the N.E. in the right subjects and the last professor is taking the History of Magic post this year since Binns has finally been exorcised. I just wanted to know what you thought about it." Harry admitted.
"Would you be happy there?" Ginny asked. "Would you come back?"
"Yeah. One of my happiest times during the war, besides dating you, was teaching the DA." Harry told her. "And of course I would. I'd floo back after classes every day."
"Then, go for it." Ginny smiled.
"Thank you, Ginny. Thank you. Let's go to the Ministry. I'll owl McGonagall first and if she agrees, then I'll quit being an auror." Harry laid out the plan.
"Alright." Ginny nodded. "Now, go get Delphi!"
"Okay, okay!" Harry ran up to find Delphi. "Hey, Delphi?"
"Yeah Harry?" Delphi asked, hopping off the bed.
"We're going to the Ministry. We want to see if you have a guardian already. Or if your birth was even recorded, for that matter. If not for either of these, Ginny and I want to start the process for adopting you." Harry said.
"Really?" Delphi shrieked.
"Yeah." Harry nodded. "Now come on. We're flooing over. My sister will meet us there."
"Flooing?" Delphini seemed confused.
"We'll show you." Harry said, chuckling.
"Okay." Delphi grabbed his hand and basically flew down the stairs.
"You're fast." Harry panted.
"Thanks." Delphini said. Harry went over to the fireplace and kissed Ginny.
"Now, Delphi," Ginny turned to her. "When you floo, all you need to do is step into the fireplace and say the place to want to go. Harry, you go first."
"Alright." Harry grabbed a handful of the powder and stepped into the fire and shouted, "Ministry of Magic," he disappeared into green flames.
"Okay Delphi. You go." Ginny held it out.
