Chapter 13: Fall Weather Friends

IT was just a normal day at Sweet Apple Acres. Applejack and Rainbow Dash were playing Horseshoes.

However one thing led to another when it came to competing and soon it became a full competition between them.

More and more ponies showed up.

With Spike acting as announcer.

"How did this become popular so fast?" asked Everlasting.

"You're just saying because you don't like sports." Said Carrot Top.

"Maybe…" said Everlasting, "But I am a writer…"

"Isn't you're a dad a poet but is really into a sport?" asked Carrot Top.

"He's more of a watcher than anything…" said Everlasting.

"Still…" said Carrot Top .

The events were pretty equal however Rainbow Dash started to be a poor sport.

She started to use her wings in the competitions.

Such as ferrying some chicks across a muddy pit.

Indeed, Rainbow Dash's wings were giving her an advance.

Because soon she was dominating due to her wings.

"She's cheating with her wings!" said Derpy.

"She is…" muttered Carrot Top.

"Why is being counted then?" asked Everlasting.

"Because the judges don't care…" muttered Carrot Top.

"Hey… I'm a Pegasus and I agree with you." Said Derpy.

"?Eh… whatever…" said Everlasting.

"You really don't like sports." Said Carrot Top.

"I do not…" sad Everlasting.

"Well Applejack is not happy…" said Carrot Top.

"She is not." Agreed Everlasting.

Because of Rainbow Dash cheating she kept winning an d winning .

"Wait… is it really cheating if the rules don't say anything about using wings?" asked Everlasting.

"How bored are you?" asked Carrot Top.

"Very…" said Everlasting.

"You going to skip the running of the leaves?" asked Carrot Top.

"No.." said Everlasting.

"Really why?" asked Carrot Top.

"You'll understand soon." said Everlasting.

"What?" asked Derpy.

"You'll see." Giggled Everlasting.

"Why do I have an bad feeling about that." Said Carrot Top.

Still of course once the competition was over and Rainbow Dash was declared thew winner, Applejack was angry.

The two bickered about Rainbow Dash using her wings and then a bet was made.

Winner takes all for the Running of the Leaves.

Of course there was a rule in place, Rainbow Dash couldn't use her wings.

And soon it was the day of the Running of the Leaves.

And Applejack tied up Rainbow Dash's wings.

Twilight also decided to participate in the race as number 42.

"Wait Twilight?" asked Everlasting seeing her number, "did you do that intentionally or was it a happy coincidence?"

"I chose the number." Said Twilight.

"Nice!" said Everlasting.

"You get the reference." Said Twilight.

"Sure do." Said Everlasting.

Twilight giggled.,

Other ponies looked at Everlasting and Twilight.

"Really obscure nerdy reference e." said Everlasting.

The other ponies just ignored her after that.

Everlasting went to where the other spectators were watching from.

"Pinkie Pie is the announcer." Said Carrot Top.

"I know." Said Everlasting.

"That why you want to watch." Said Carrot Top.

"Oh yeah." Said Everlasting.

"I can't believe you with this." Said Carrot Top.

"Really?" asked Everlasting.

"Okay… maybe I believe it a little." Said Carrot Top.

That was when they noticed that Princess Celestia was watching the race as well.

"Oh hey Princess Celestia here." Said Derpy.

"Cool." Said Everlasting.

"Wait is this to make up for the thing with her recent visit?" asked Derpy.

"I don't think that's it." Said Carrot Top.

"Yeah she's probably just into the whole fall asthenic… can't blame her." Said Everlasting.

Carrot Top and Derpy looked at her confused.

"What you know I'm from the big city with few places to view fall stuff." Said Everlasting.

"Good point." Said Carrot Top.

And soon the race began… Things started to get messy. Twilight paced herself while slowly but surely Applejack and Rainbow Dash start to accuse each other of doing things to stall the other like tripping and doing stuff with trees.

Then they started to outright make sure that other would fail and basically cheating.

Though no one watching knew this because the spectator area was really just listening to Pinkie and Spike (who joined her after a successful run during the earlier competition between Rainbow Dash and Applejack).

Still… thigs weren't going well between the two.

And things eventually got so bad that the other Ponies would pass them in a race as they were fighting.

They were fighting badly they didn't notice this at all.

Though it should be pointed out the purpose of the raver which is to cause vibrations to make the leaves fall.

"Wait… didn't we just have Winter Wrap Up?" realized Everlasting.

"What?" asked Carrot Top.

"I could have sword that we had Winter Wrap Up." Said Everlasting.

"I'll be right back…" said Derpy leaving to check something.

"What is that about I?" asked Everlasting

"Who knows…" said Carrot Top.

Derpy soon came back after a few minutes.

"Don't worry just some time shenanigans that happens a while ago… you shouldn't have noticed it and everything will be back to normal soon." Said Derpy .

"What?" asked Everlasting realizing that was about the whole Winter Wrap Up question.

"Never mind." Said Derpy.

Still the race was going on despite the fighting and soon the winners crossed the finish line with Twilight pulling ahead as they got closer.

She didn't get first, but she got 5th which was impressive as this was her first race like this, i.e.: a marathon. Which was to pace yourself and then once you get closer to the finish line run for it.

Needless to say Twilight was proud of herself. She didn't win, but the fact that she got 5th on her first race was quite the abolishment.,

She even got a medal and her friends cheered her for this twist.

Of course soon Rainbow Dash and Applejack fought their over the finish line with them being tied to last place.

They were horrified at the fact that trying to cheat and one up each other got them last place.

Not to mention Twilight getting a medal for fifth place spot.

Both of them learned their lesson about being good sports and even talked to Princess Celestia about this.

Though due to their fighting they weren't able to knock down the leaves so the two ran about to knocked over the leaves learning an important lesson about sportsmanship…

So yeah… that happened…

Next Time: Everlasting, Carrot Top and Derpy get into a fight. And because of this fight Twilight learns the story of how Everlasting moved to Ponyville and the three become friends.
