Well. it has been a long time, hasn't it? After about a year and a half, I discovered that I am incredibly rusty when I started writing this a few weeks ago. Regardless of my personal qualms, enjoy the story!

Chapter 1: The Mystery of the Missing Pancakes

Nora stopped outside the guest dormitory room and looked at the flyer she held in her hands, Detectives: Will solve your mystery for only a few Lein. Our office is at Dorm Room 2222, business hours are from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays and 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekends.

Nora put the flyer down and inspected the paper taped to the door, Detectives. She knocked on the door twice then heard someone on the other side stand up from a desk, the chair barely screeching on the wooden floor.

The door opened to reveal Sun Wukong, hair wet from what Nora presumed was a recent shower and, of course, his shirt open with his chest showing. Although Ren would be the only person ever worthy enough to make her pancakes until they grew old together, Nora could still appreciate the physique Sun offered. Nora stared at his abs until hands interrupted her view of them, "Hey Nora, you there?"

"Yep! And since when were you a detective?" Nora exclaimed as she pushed Sun out of the way and entered his dorm. Neptune looked up from his desk as Nora ran into the middle of the room. "Are you a detective too? That is so awesome!"

"Yeah, we decided to become detectives while we're here at Beacon." Neptune stood up and offered his chair for Nora, who jumped in it and bounced from excitement. Neptune raised an eyebrow when the chair complained from the amount of force caused by Nora's bouncing.

Sun staggered over to Neptune and leaned against him, "Holy crap, that hurt."

"Sorry! Renny says I sometimes don't know my own strength or whatever, but I figured you'd be fine from a slight push!"

"Slight?" Sun muttered to himself.

Neptune rolled his eyes, "So, I'm assuming you need detective work done?" Nora nodded. "How can we help you?"

"Someone is stealing my pancakes!" Nora yelled with venom. "A thief thinks they can steal my treats away from me, and they're getting away with it! You need to find out who it is so I can break their legs."

"Okay… we can help with that." Sun said as he grabbed a notepad and pencil off his desk, "When did the pancakes start disappearing?"

"Five days ago, I woke up that morning, excited to eat the mountain of pancakes Renny cooked for me the night before."

"A mountain of pancakes?" Neptune asked.

Nora slammed her fist down on Neptune's desk, splintering the wood, "A mountain! But to my surprise when I opened the refrigerator, they were gone! Every night Renny makes pancakes fluffier than a cloud, and every night since that day, they've disappeared."

"Do any of your teammates know what happened?"

"I asked them, and they all said no, but I don't believe one of them." Nora's eyes narrowed, "I think Pyrrha is stealing them."

Sun was busy writing her story down, so Neptune asked, "Why do you think it's her?"

"Because she's in love! Love blinds you to the horror of stealing your friend's pancakes. She only thinks about Jaune and getting in his pants, and I think she is using the pancakes to do it!" Nora stood up and knocked the chair over with enough force to break it. "I know I would do the same thing for Renny's scrumptious booty if Pyrrha's and my positions were switched. I even tried to stay awake one night to catch her in the act, but then I fell asleep and that's when she struck!" Nora hit her hand on Neptune's desk and it split into two, spilling his schoolwork across the floor, "Oh, sorry about that."

Sun glanced at an open-mouthed Neptune, "It's fine. We will take your case and find the culprit."

"Thank you, thank you, thank you!" Nora hugged Sun. "I'll make sure to put in good words with Blake and Weiss." Sun tried to reply but all the air was forced out of him when Nora picked him up.

"Thanks." Neptune replied, ignoring Sun's gasps for air, "We will conduct our investigation and report back to you with the findings as soon as we can." Nora smiled brightly and dropped Sun on the floor.

"I'm looking forward to breaking some legs!" Nora exclaimed as she skipped over Sun trying to recover from asphyxiation and left their dorm room.

"We got our first case, let's solve this mystery." Neptune grabbed Sun by the hand and helped him off the floor, "Junior Detectives, investigate!" Neptune grabbed his weapon and walked out of the room, leaving Sun and his crushed lungs to catch up.

Jaune thought that when Sun invited him to hang out, it would be doing some manly, masculine activity, he was so cool! While Jaune considered he had improved in his social skills, he knew he had a long way to go to reach the level of Neptune in order to capture Weiss' attention. Not that he was jealous of Neptune, not at all! All he needed was confidence and Weiss would be his.

Suddenly, Sun stopped in the middle of the hallway. I should've realized this was a prank. Jaune thought to himself as he was grabbed by Sun and forced into an empty classroom where Neptune sat at the teacher's desk.

"Mr… Arc, is it?" Neptune gestured to the chair opposite him and Jaune sat down in it, "What do you know about the missing pancakes?"

"What?" This is why they invited him out, to ask about Nora's problem?

Sun slammed his fists on the desk, "Liar! You know something!"

"I swear I don't! All I know is that they are disappearing while I'm asleep. You can ask Nora, I told her the same thing, I haven't seen anything."

Neptune nodded, pulled out a pipe, and blew some air through it, "We heard a rumor that your partner is stealing them, would you know anything about that?"

"Pyrrha? She follows a strict diet for her training, why would she steal pancakes if she wasn't going to eat them?"

Sun took out his own pipe but only held it in his hand, "Because she is giving them to you as a romantic gesture, isn't she? Her motive is to get into your pants and your complicit in accepting the stolen contraband. That makes you partners in the arena, in love, and in crime!"

Jaune's only response was a slightly agape mouth and a faraway stare. "Jaune, you there bud?" Neptune waved his hands in front of his eyes, no response, "Good job, Sun, you broke him."

"Pyrrha, she… what?" Jaune eyes were wide, "She likes me?"

Sun and Neptune looked at each other, "Well, obviously. We thought you were already dating with the way she looks at you, it's not subtle. Did you not know?"

Jaune slowly stood up from the chair, "I think I need to talk with my partner."

Sun stood up and grabbed Jaune's wrist before he could walk away, "So you don't know who is stealing the pancakes?" Jaune shook his head, "Okay, good luck with her man." Jaune smiled at that and walked out of the classroom.

"Well, that was a bust." Neptune sighed as he pulled out a list of names from his pocket, "I guess we should interview team RWBY next. I'm thinking Ruby will be the easiest to interrogate."

Sun smiled as he pulled out a plate with cookies on it, "Already ahead of you partner."

"Remember, we are here just to get Ruby. Do not get distracted by Weiss, you can flirt with her later." Neptune rolled his eyes as he knocked on the door. He would not get distracted by a girl, work came first.

The door opened a few seconds later to reveal Weiss, "Can I help yo- oh, Neptune! It's great to see you. How are you doing?"

Neptune slicked back his hair with one hand and lightly grabbed one of Weiss' with the other, "You are looking as beautiful as usual Snow Ang-" He cut off as Sun elbowed him in the sternum. Of course Neptune would get distracted by a pretty face.

"Sun." Weiss stated sternly, her face scrunched up slightly, "Blake, your boyfriend is here." Blake looked up from her book and made eye contact with Sun. He waved at her and she quickly grabbed her pillow and hid behind it. Weiss sighed, "What can I help you... gentlemen with?"

"We were actually hoping to talk with Ruby really quick." Sun said as he wrapped his arm around Neptune's neck and tightened it so he could not flirt with Weiss more, "We just need to ask her a few questions."

Weiss tilted her slightly to the side, "Why do you need to ask Ruby ques-" The door behind Sun and Neptune slammed open, followed by Pyrrha storming into the hall with Jaune in tow. He tried to pull her fingers off his collar, but she kept her grip and dragged him further down the hall. Help me. Jaune mouthed just as he passed around the corner. Weiss rubbed her head, "Do I even want to know?"

"It's… probably not important." Neptune answered, "We just want to ask Ruby some questions about the disappearing pancakes in Team JNPR's room, something I'm sure you have nothing to do with." Neptune winked and Weiss blushed.

"Of course not. Ruby Rose, stop playing that video game and come here!" Weiss opened the door more to reveal Ruby in her pajamas playing on her phone. She jumped down off her bed and walked over to the door.

"Hey guys! What do you want to talk about?"

"Could we talk to you out here, in the hallway?" Ruby nodded and walked out of the doorway and stood next to Sun, who called out, "I'll talk to you later Blake!" Blake peeked over her pillow and threw the book she was holding behind her, falling between the bedframe and the wall. She waved with the shortest wave possible and pulled the pillow back over her face. Neptune winked at Weiss again as she closed the door, causing another blush.

Ruby leaned against the wall next to the door, "I heard you said this is about Nora's pancakes, why are you asking about it?"

"We decided to become detectives while we're here at Beacon." Neptune answered, "If you ever need an investigation, just let us know."

"That is so cool!" Ruby squeaked, "So you're trying to figure out who's taking the pancakes?"

"We were hoping you knew more about that actually…" Sun picked up a covered plate off the floor and held it in front of Ruby. Her nose quivered as she smelled the cookies hidden underneath the cover and, when she reached to remove the cover, Sun held the plate above his head and out of her reach, "Not yet! You need to answer some questions first, then you can eat the cookies."

Ruby's eyes narrowed, "Are they chocolate chip?" Sun nodded, "Then yes, I'll answer all your questions."

Neptune spoke up, "Do you know who is stealing Nora's pancakes?"

"Nope!"

"No one on your team is stealing them?"

"Nope! We can't eat that many pancakes or we'll gain too much weight, I honestly don't know how Nora isn't obese."

"Don't you eat like twenty cookies a day?"

"Yea, what of it?"

Neptune and Sun looked at each other and both shrugged. There was probably no way of understanding the sugar intake and metabolism of neither Nora nor Ruby, "Well, thank you for your help." Sun lowered the plate and took off the cover to reveal a dozen chocolate chip cookies, "These are yours."

Ruby moved faster than Sun had ever seen before, so quickly that he was not sure that she even moved. The only proof was the cookie being shoved into Ruby's mouth. "Thanks guys! I'll let you know if I see anything." She turned around and walked to her door, taking care not to spill the plate of cookies upon opening it.

"Ok, we know that it's probably not anyone from her team." Neptune sighed, "You got any other ideas?"

"Yea, I got one more idea, although I'm not sure you'll like it."

"You were right, I don't like this." Neptune shifted his weight on the branch, "It feels like we're stalking someone." Sun rolled his eyes as he placed another piece of tape on his scroll. Just because they were currently sitting in a tree to look into someone's dorm room without their permission and setting up a camera so they could record the activity of the room in case they fell asleep was not stalking. Ok, maybe it does sound a little bad. Sun pressed the record button on his scroll. "What if someone sees us Sun? How are we going to explain this?"

"By telling the truth." Sun looked at team JNPR's room through their window. Nora was jumping on her bed listening to music on her headphones while Ren just came out of the bathroom in his pajamas, "We're helping out a friend by looking for a pancake thief."

"Yea, that doesn't sound insane." Neptune shook his head, "Where are Jaune and Pyrrha? It's almost ten and they're in the room." Neptune leaned back against the trunk of the giant maple tree they were set up in, "If I fall out of this, I'm blaming you."

The lights flickered out in JNPR's room and Sun adjusted the settings on his scroll and activated the night vision feature, "Now we just wait for the thief to strike."

Sun shivered as a cool breeze flowed over him. He was grabbing onto something warm and snuggled into it, "Just five more minutes." A bird chirped next to him and whatever he was holding onto moved a little. Sun scrunched his eyes and snuggled closer to the source of warmth. He stopped moving as he realized that the source of warmth felt like someone's back and slowly opened his eyes. The sun was starting to rise and it's light revealed that Sun was pressed up against Neptune's back, "Gah!" Sun pushed away from Neptune, knocking both of them off the tree and onto the ground.

Neptune screamed as he woke up, smashing his face on the ground, "What happened?!" He stood up and watched Sun climb back into the tree, "Did you push me out of the tree?"

"No reason for it at all, we never need to speak of this." Sun reached the spot where he placed the camera, "I can't believe we fell asleep so quickly last night, we didn't get to see who did it." Sun grabbed the scroll and jumped down to Neptune, "Hopefully my scroll saw who it was."

Sun slammed his fist on the table, startling RWBY, Ren, and Nora, "Good morning! You are all looking well, especially you Blake." The mentioned girl rolled her eyes and kept reading her book, "Through hard work and perseverance we have solved the mystery."

Nora gasped, "Really? Wow, you guys work fast! Who is it? Who's legs am I going to break!" Nora glared at each member of team RWBY.

"What do you mean you solved a mystery?" Yang asked, "Are you guys detectives now?"

"Indeed we are, Miss Xiao-Long." Neptune put his food up on the bench of the table and leaned forward, "Last night we observed the room of the victim and caught the perpetrator on camera." Sun pulled out his scroll and started playing a video, "At approximately 1:50 in the morning the culprit struck again and we know who it is."

Yang, Nora, Ruby, and Weiss watched as the video revealed a figure appear from seemingly nowhere and walk to the refrigerator to eat the pancakes. "Notice that the suspect has short hair and rose from where Nora's bed is situated." Sun pointed his finger at Nora, "I accuse you for stealing your own pancakes!"

"Le gasp!" Nora put a hand over her forehead and pretended to faint. Yang, Ruby, and Weiss watched as the figure in the video turned around and revealed Nora eating a stack of five pancakes, "How is this possible?"

"We think you are sleep-eating because you're sub-conscious craves pancakes." Neptune turned to Ren, "Has this ever happened before?"

Ren shook his head, "No, but nothing about Nora surprises me anymore."

Nora grabbed her arm with the opposite hand, "I cannot believe I betrayed myself so cruelly. How am I supposed to break my own legs?"

"Case solved." Neptune and Sun high-fived, "If you ever need a case solved, just call on us. Hey Snow Angel, do you need any help?" Weiss shook her head and smiled in return.

Two plates were placed on the table as Jaune and Pyrrha joined their team, ignoring Nora's lament and holding hands. Ruby noticed first and immediately started asking questions, much to Jaune's embarrassment. Yang soon joined in and almost everyone at the table listened to Pyrrha telling how she finally claimed Jaune as her's.

Sun laughed at the scene and sat down in the open space next to Blake, "What do you think?" The ghost of a smirk twisted Blake's lips.

"I am somewhat impressed." She replied without looking. Sun smiled, that was good enough for him.

I always thought that the Junior Detectives at Beacon world would be interesting, like how Roosterteeth did some of it in RWBY Chibi. I am starting to work on the next chapter, but I have no idea when that will come, but hopefully it won't be another year and a half!
