Legacy of the Moon
Arc I: Forbidden End
Chapter 2: Genesis
Now the destiny of this man was uncertain and so was the destiny of mankind.
This terrible clash of light and darkness resulted in an eruption of similar destructive energy which emerged from the clash of Jade Warriors and Orochi. The almost entire world was under the grasp of such a devastating energy clash and it was killing the population of living beings in the World of the Living at a scary pace. Moreover, because of the slumber of Archangels, the Lords of shadow disconnected the World of the Living from Paradise and thus all the spirits of the dead were trapped in the World of the Living with nowhere else to go. The scenario of the World of the Living and all other worlds was looking like that of the times of apocalypse, where not just the living beings but even the deceased were bound to suffer.
The Dog Demon's Palace…
Amidst the war with all the destructive energy plaguing not only the entire earth but also the spiritual plane, Inukimi, the wife of Toga was undergoing labor pains. She was herself a Daiyokai and probably the only lucky woman whose child survived the entire phase of pregnancy. She was lying down on a silky carpet on the ground while midwives were surrounding her along with some maids who were assisting them.
"Our queen is a powerful Daiyokai, maybe that's why her child is still alive," one of the maids murmured in a low voice. "You are right, it's been several weeks, I haven't heard of even a single birth not just among humans but among us demons as well," the other maid responded.
A midwife heard them and replied, "The destructive energy from the ongoing war has intoxicated the environment in such a way where even weak humans and Yokai are dying then how come an infant would survive such pressure."
"I… I am afraid that our queen's baby won't be able to survive either. Yesterday, I heard of the death of a Daiyokai child, he was just two years old and even then he couldn't survive this wretched phase," one of the old maids murmured with fear.
A maid spoke further while getting involved in the conversation, "I even heard of horrible things happening with the babies the moment they are coming out..." suddenly she had to shut her mouth upon receiving a furious response from Inukimi herself, "SHUT UP!... Arrrggh Shut up, every single one of you… ugh"
"Aaaaarrgghh…" Inukimi groaned loudly due to labor pains and upon noticing her, an elderly midwife spoke, "please, don't heed these foolish words my lady, focus on your condition and your child." Afterward, all the midwives and maids got serious because her situation was getting critical due to extended labor pains which were slowly becoming unbearable for her. When she started to fall unconscious and felt that she won't make it then she closed her eyes and remembered Goddess Selene while speaking to her inside her mind, "Selene, if you value our bond then please help me, give me strength. I have never asked you for anything ever but today I ask you to protect my child… I beg of you, Selene… I beg of you." Now she recollected all the strength she had left with and tried to hang in there one final time. Soon enough the difficult phase ended for her but the entire hall had gotten filled with a strange silence instead of the anticipated ringing of the baby's cry.
Inukimi actually gave birth to a lifeless child but she was still trying to return to her senses and thus hadn't realized it. On the other hand, the midwives were trying to clean the baby while continuously searching for the signs of life in him. Suddenly a maid arrived there and kneeled on the ground in front of them. She was blonde and looked extremely beautiful from the lower half of her face which was visible from the hood of her dress. "Let me pray for our prince," she uttered slowly while extending her hands toward the infant. And the moment, the midwives handed him over to her; it seemed as if her touch infused the life in the baby. Soon the most anticipated baby's cry drew Inukimi's attention and she desperately pulled him into her lap.
"Congratulations my lady, our prince has arrived," one of the midwives muttered to Inukimi with a smile.
Inukimi noticed that he was born with a similar mark of the crescent moon just like she was given by Selene, the Goddess of the Moon. "Thank you so much, Selene… for protecting my child," Inukimi whispered before she placed a loving kiss on the baby's forehead, right on the mark of the crescent moon while the tears were flowing down her cheeks.
"Now you will have to think of a nice name for the prince, my lady." an elderly midwife said to her curiously. That mysterious maid whispered very slowly while looking towards Inukimi, "Se…" Inukimi looked at her while wondering how dare a mere servant tried to suggest a name for the prince of the Great Dog Demon Empire. However, soon a smile appeared on her lips as if the maid just uttered exactly what she decided for him, "I was just going to declare this… he will be known as… Sesshomaru!" Inukimi murmured with a smile before she lifted her son in her arms and hugged him dearly.
A week after those three colossal wars
The environment of Dog Demon's palace remained pleasant throughout the week due to the birth of the new heir. Inside her chamber, Inukimi was lying right beside the little Sesshomaru on the bed and was having a sweet time while playing and pampering him. Suddenly her attention was caught by the footsteps which seemed to be heading toward her chamber.
It was none other but the father of the newborn prince. Upon seeing him, Inukimi's expression changed slightly from joyful to serious ones. Toga noticed that change as well but the first sight of his newborn child filled his heart with such happiness that he ignored his wife's expressions.
Soon enough a feminine voice echoed in the chamber, "it seems that you finally get the time for your child, the Great Dog Demon!" Inukimi spoke while reflecting the disappointment in her tone as she referred to him in a very unusual manner. "Inukimi, you won't believe it if I will tell you about the horrors we faced on the battlefield this time and what kind of warriors participated in the battle, you know the popular priestess Mido…" Toga tried to explain upon noticing that she was seriously upset with him this time but he was interrupted in the middle as she spoke further coldly, "I don't want to know anything."
Now Toga gently held his child in his hands and lifted him happily in his arms while smiling constantly out of great happiness. He couldn't help but spoke with slight excitement, "Look, my dear, he didn't even cry. It seems that he has recognized his father in the very first meeting." Inukimi got up from the bed and walked towards her husband in order to take the little Sesshomaru away from him, "or perhaps my child doesn't bother even your demonic aura," she responded.
"I thought our relationship will become smooth after the birth of our child," He muttered while looking towards his wife with a serious expression. "Give him to me, I need to feed him," She demanded while utterly ignoring what he just said to her. "Hmm… but he isn't even crying now Inukimi, let me spend some time with him at least," He spoke in the requesting tone, "after all, I have to think of a name for my prince as well," he added just to ease the environment.
"So, do you want me to wait for him to cry out of hunger? Besides, I have already given him a name," She replied to him while taking little Sesshomaru back from his father. "Oh! What is it, my dear?" Toga asked curiously. "Sesshomaru…" she replied as she sat down on the bed with little Sesshomaru lying in her lap.
"Why did you choose this name, Inukimi?" Toga asked in a serious manner while she answered him immediately, "the day and the times when he took birth, I heard and saw nothing except annihilation and destruction of lives, and hence I gave this name to my son." Toga didn't say anything but begin to ponder over her words, "I hope that my son will be powerful enough to bring about such destruction," she added. "I would rather have a son who can save people from such destruction instead of causing it." Inu no Taisho replied in a slightly strict tone before leaving the chamber.
Now Inukimi started to feed Sesshomaru while wondering about that blonde maid. She whispered to herself, "her demonic aura, her dedication, and love towards Sesshomaru is suspicious but I can't just take her out of my palace because she's the only one except me whom he allows coming close to him." She was trying to connect all the dots in her mind that how that maid requested to get hired right before the war intensified and how she had always tried to stay close to Sesshomaru all the time. Once Sesshomaru fell asleep while drinking her milk, Inukimi get off of the bed and put pillows and cushions all around him. The moment she was about to leave her chamber, that blonde maid arrived there. Inukimi stared at her while walking away and spoke to her, "take care of him, I am going out." She responded politely, "yes my lady, that's why I am here."
A few years later (11th Century)
Bernhard's Castle…
The region around Bernhard's Castle remained silent only for a few years. Although people had started to resettle around the castle yet nobody used to dare to go even close to that horrific structure let alone enter it. After the Great War between the Brotherhood of Light and the dark forces, everyone was under the impression that Gabriel Belmont died after killing the three Lords of Shadow but the reality was far different and twisted.
Gabriel wasn't able to handle all the new dark powers which he had accumulated in his body. The gauntlet of Black Knight Golem, all the power of Cornell, half of the power of Carmilla, and the entire power of Dracolich Titan were slowly crushing both his body and his soul while the guilt of murdering his wife was consuming his heart and mind to the brink of madness. In his desperation, Gabriel sealed himself off in the most dangerous portion of Bernhard's Castle, i.e. the Forbidden Wing. It was the same portion of the castle where Walter Bernhard carried out that dreadful ritual in order to contact the Forgotten One. This Wing was the source of life and all the darkness that was plaguing the castle. It was the place where Forgotten One's power was still creeping without any control.
After passing several months in despair and madness he had almost turned into a creature of darkness but the burden of murdering his beloved wife and all the dark power was still too much for him to handle. He was almost dead and would have died if that night she wouldn't enter that place of absolute darkness. She was that exceptionally beautiful maid who was present during the birth of Sesshomaru. She was radiating brilliant white light while her aura was so powerful that merely her presence was shredding the creeping dark energy around her.
Gabriel Belmont was sitting in the middle of a pool of blood and his cries were continuously echoing throughout the wing. "I WILL KILL YOU ALL…!" Gabriel roared like a beast as soon as his attention was caught by the light coming out of that woman. "Calm down, you can't accomplish anything in this state." She responded in a polite tone.
"MY HATRED WILL LIVE FOREVER… I WILL HAVE MY REVENGE!" He roared again in a frightening but painful voice. "Listen to me, Gabriel, I…" She uttered but was interrupted by him. "GABRIEL… IS… Gone…" he spoke but this time his voice fell weak.
"I am sorry for your loss but you should be aware that a lot is depending upon you."
"My Marie is gone… humans are safe now… what else is there left for me in this world?"
"A legion of the creatures of the night awaits its master… the throne of the prince of darkness is vacant… your vengeance, your rage, your fate everything awaits for justice… so live…" She uttered while revealing her complete spiritual pressure to Gabriel.
"Who are you?" He whispered while staring at her intently. She suddenly arrived in her true form and the hall which was previously filled with powerful darkness brightened with the blinding white light. Gabriel covered his face with his arms because her intense light was harsh on his eyes which had seen nothing but darkness for months.
After a few weeks of this incident, Gabriel Belmont shocked and terrorized everyone by reappearing in the castle with a new name and a new form. He had become the Prince of Darkness and the new lord of the creatures of the night. He had claimed the castle and its dark powers as his own. Now he was the new face of evil among humans. He was Dracul the dragon and people used to refer to him as Dracula.
Brotherhood of Light, on the other hand, had lost its edge due to the heavy destruction of its army in the previous war and also because of the absence of a powerful evil force for which they could have prepared themselves with dedication. However, with the rise of Dracul, the Brotherhood of Light started to reform itself to the point where it can stand against the power of the Dragon who was now feared by all.
It took those around twenty years to gather their lost strength and this time the soldiers of the Brotherhood of Light were being led by none other but Gabriel's own son, Trevor Belmont. However, it seemed that the re-established strength of Brotherhood of Light was none like the former times while Trevor Belmont was also no match against the power of his father.
The forces of the Brotherhood of Light were defeated in a miserable manner while Trevor found death at the hands of Dracul himself. Soon after killing his son, Dracul realized the loss that he had brought upon himself, and then his wrath destroyed the entire army of the Brotherhood of Light, once and for all. It was at that point in history when the world witnessed the most frightening form of Dracula and also what he was capable of in this form. After he came back to his senses, he returned to the chamber where Trevor was lying dead. He carried out a blood ritual on his son's corpse and placed it inside a coffin in a hope of his resurrection.
400 years later (15th Century)
Dracul reigned for more than 400 years but eventually, his enemies gathered the power which was required to vanquish him. A massive and incredibly powerful army comprised of Angels invaded Dracula's Castle. The army commander was none other but Zobek himself who was accompanied by his lieutenant, Victor the last Belmont, and the fallen Demigod Agreus.
The Prince of Darkness stood firm against them but both his army and the castle suffered immense damage. For a moment, it seemed as if it was the end for Dracula and his entire army but destiny had some other plans for the Prince of Darkness. The chaotic energies of this terrible battle disrupted Trevor's slumber.
Eventually, he awakened and realized that he was no longer the person he used to be but transformed into Alucard, a mighty pure-blooded vampire just like his father Dracul. As soon as Zobek and his army learned of his awakening they rushed to kill him. Alucard's choice to fight alongside his father proved to be a game-changer in this battle. He saved a lot of castle dwellers from the Angels and found out that Carmilla was still alive in the darkness of the castle but not in a physical form. Carmilla obviously knew more secrets about the Castle than Dracul and she showed Alucard a way to save everyone. She told him that the castle and the surrounding area were not just physical places but all of it transformed into a pocket dimension when Walter Bernhard carried out that ritual.
Now Alucard met his father and devised a plan with him to disconnect the castle from the World of the Living. Dracul had no choice but to listen to his son's plan even at the cost of all of his power and consciousness. In order to execute this plan, Dracul was sealed in his throne room inside a coffin while all the castle dwellers including Alucard and Carmilla began the mysterious process of escaping the World of the Living.
All of a sudden, the war ended in the blink of an eye with absolutely no trace of even a single creature of the night or Dracula's castle left in the World of the Living. Everything just disappeared into the thin air for an unknown period. However, Chupacabra was the only castle dweller who was deliberately left in the World of the Living for an unknown purpose by Dracul himself.
The enemies of Dracul got scattered with time while Zobek got busy building strength and finding a way to reach Dracula's Castle which disappeared mysteriously. On the other hand, Chupacabra managed to remain hidden from all of his potential enemies and managed to reach the eastern side of the world in order to fulfill the purpose which Dracul had given to him.
To be continued…
Author's Note:
Hello! My dear readers, I hope all of you are doing well. With the end of the 2nd chapter, I have completed the plot of my fanfiction that explained the history before the actual story started. From chapter 5th onwards I will be starting the actual story of my fanfiction but in this Author's Note, I am going to mention all the concepts of my story which are key concepts of my fanfiction's universe and will be used multiple times throughout the story.
Sections of Hell:
Netherworld – It is the uppermost section of hell that lies closest to the World of the Living. Usually, a person's soul goes to this world after they die.
Underworld – It is the kingdom of the God Hades and it lies right below the Netherworld. Only those souls which are permitted by Hades reside here. They are taken to the Underworld either to be punished or to be employed as a servant in Hades' army.
Tartarus – It is the punishment chamber of hell and it lies right below the Underworld. Only doomed souls are taken here. They are forced to live here in horrific conditions and tortured endlessly until nothing is left in them before they are sent to reincarnate.
Naraka – It is the lowermost section of hell and also the most terrible of all the sections. When nothing is left in a soul then it falls here to be reincarnated or sometimes the most heinous souls are thrown here to rot and eventually to get disintegrated after endless suffering.
Components of Soul:
Atman – It refers to the eternal divine light of the soul which is the pure consciousness and thus indestructible and eternal.
Core – It is the divine thread that binds all components of the soul into one and makes it a unique entity but it is destructible, unlike Atman.
Essence – It is the individuality of an entity. Before being assigned to a race such as a human, a demon, or an angel, an entity first of all is an individual.
Spirit – It is the form that consists of all the memories, thoughts, feelings, and emotions of an entity. Half of the entity's spiritual power lies in this component.
Energy – It is the power of an entity that partially lies in the body and rests in the spirit.
Body – It is the physical form of an entity that is subjected to birth and death.
Dimensional structure of the world:
Physical World – The World of the Living is the only world in existence that is purely physical and subjected to all the physical laws of the universe.
Spirit Circle – It mainly refers to the space all around the World of the Living which generally doesn't fall under anyone's dominion and is free to roam and reside for the souls of the dead. Purgatory, Hueco Mundo, Soul Society, and pocket dimensions around the World of the Living are some of the worlds inside the Spirit Circle.
Paradise – It is the utopia of Angels since the beginning of time and it lies far above the Spirit Circle.
Jade Kingdom – It exists between the Spirit Circle and Paradise and it is not very much different than Paradise.
Heavens – Also known as the Olympus. It lies far above Paradise and it is the residence of the Gods.
That was all for now. Note that I have refrained from giving complete details in order to avoid spoilers but as the story will move ahead I will be revealing all the details about everything in both the story and in the author's notes. I hope you have enjoyed my fanfiction's plot so far. See you in the next chapter from where the actual story will start.
Stay tuned…
