Hey, everybody. Back with another chapter.
Let's get to it.
RandomFanAuthor: To answer your questions in order: 1) I'm tyring to figure out the particulars of the Terran Jedi Code, but its fairly similar to the Jedi Code in many respects. 2) Yes, we'll start seeing more Milky Way species soon. 3) I know nothing about Halo, so I'll answer that later.
Guest DCDGojira: You'll find out who Luke's love interest will be later on.
Jayhawks: Not sure about John Wick being a Jedi. Maybe an ASAT member will be named John Wick.
the mysterious Mr.E: Well, the Intergalactic Cold War is pretty much over by now as the Galactic Civil War is about to begin.
The conmanw: Serra Keto never joined the Terran Jedi Order, and has built her own life here on Terra. She'll appear once or twice in this story.
veahel111: Of course I haven't forgotten Kashyyyk. We'll see one or two chapters featuring the Vietnamese still on Kashyyyk before they get rescued, and I'll be making a wiki page for the Vietnamese insurgency on Kashyyyk.
Chapter 2- Grave News
(August 10, 2013)
A hail of blaster bolts fly through the air as a small group of Americans desperately retreats back towards where their shuttle is hidden.
The Americans are spies from the CIA sent to the Andromeda Galaxy to gather new intelligence on the Empire, particularly on Imperial strongholds and weak points. With the Freedom nearing completion, the Terran Joint Command had decided they needed to accelerate preparations for war, which meant they needed a lot of intelligence.
This particular team, comprising 8 CIA agents, had been dispatched to gather information on the strength of Imperial holdouts on the planets of Mandalore and Ord Mantel. On the way, they had discovered word of an Imperial Star Destroyer on a secret mission to Mygeeto. Hoping to gain some intelligence from the ship, they had secretly set off for Mygeeto, where they stole an Imperial shuttle and boarded the Star Destroyer dressed as stormtroopers.
The 8 CIA agents had scoured the ship for any useful intelligence. While they didn't overhear anything important from the ship's crew, one of the agents was able to get access to the ship's computer. And while going through the logs, they found records of the ship guarding something. Searching further, the agent discovered records of an Imperial battlestation nearing the end of its construction in the Outer Rim.
Unfortunately, he was discovered in the process, and the CIA team was forced to escape the ship in an escape pod. Although they didn't realize what the Americans had discovered, the Imperials were angry that the Americans had managed to get aboard without being detected, and sent a considerable force of stormtroopers after them.
The leader of the CIA team, an experienced agent by the name of Tyler Simmons, turns around and fires his blaster at the pursuing stormtroopers, killing two of them. He then turns and resumes running.
The stormtroopers have been pursuing the Americans over Mygeeto's landscape for almost 12 hours. Two of the eight men in the team have already been killed by the pursuing stormtroopers, and the rest of the team is tiring.
Another agent runs up to Simmons. "Sir! We can't keep going on like this! If we don't get back to the ship soon, we're all gonna die!"
"I know!" Simmons responds a little tersely.
"Sir!" another agent shouts, pointing up ahead. Simmons looks at what the man is indicating, and sees a particular rocky landmark. Something he remembers seeing very close to the landing site when their shuttle landed.
"Yes, we're close! Move! Let's move!" Simmons shouts. The other five agents sprint as fast as they can in the direction they now know their ship is.
Just three minutes later, the trees thin out, and their ship appears up ahead.
"Move it!" Simmons shouts, grins breaking out on his face and the face of his five colleagues.
The ramp on their ship is down. The six CIA agents race onto the ship, and Simmons shouts to the pilot, "Eric, get us out of here!"
Eric, the pilot, immediately powers up the engines, raises the ramp, and then lifts the ship off the ground. He spins it around, right as stormtroopers race into the clearing. Eric lowers the laser cannon under the nose of the ship and fires, killing a number of the stormtroopers and scattering more.
"Hold on!" Eric shouts back as he shoves the throttles forward, and the ship quickly climbs into the sky.
Within minutes, they've broken out of Mygeeto's atmosphere and are streaking away from the planet. Then, turbolaser bolts begin exploding around them as the Star Destroyer over Mygeeto spots them and opens fire on the ship.
"S***!" Eric growls, throwing the ship into several spins to try and avoid the turbolaser fire.
As he tries to avoid the hostile fire, he frantically tries to make the calculations for their hyperspace jump. Finally, he enters the coordinates and shouts, "Here we go!" He pushes the hyperspace throttles forward, and the ship makes the jump into hyperspace.
On the bridge of the Star Destroyer, the captain narrows his eyes as he sees the ship make the jump into hyperspace. "Contact our forces on the ground," he orders.
Within moments, a hologram of the stormtrooper in command appears. "The ship got away," the captain says dangerously.
"Yes, they did, sir. But one of our men was able to attach a homing device to the hull of the ship," the trooper says.
The captain begins to smile. "I was hoping you would say that. Return to the ship at once," he says before terminating the transmission. He then turns to one of his officers and says, "Track that beacon. As soon as our troopers are back aboard, follow that ship."
(1 day later)
The small American ship drops out of hyperspace at the planet Sempidal.
Simmons walks into the cockpit. "Alright. Now we just gotta wait for them to get here," he mutters. The ship did not have enough fuel for a hyperspace jump all the way back to Earth. Instead the team's orders were to wait here for larger ships to arrive.
The two sit in the cockpit, not really doing anything for several minutes.
Suddenly, an alarm starts to beep loudly. Eric quickly looks at the scopes, wondering what is causing the alarm.
"What is it, Eric?" Simmons demands.
Eric keeps looking over the scopes, then swears. "There's a Star Destroyer coming out of hyperspace behind us," he says.
Simmons swears too. "One of those d*** stormtroopers must have put a homing device on our hull, somehow. The Imperials tracked us here!" he says angrily.
A moment later, he says, "Take evasive action! We gotta pray those reinforcements are coming!"
Eric throttles up and immediately begins weaving back and forth while spinning as the Star Destroyer comes out of hyperspace, and quickly begins firing.
"Activate our comms!" Simmons orders.
Eric quickly hits a few buttons. The comms unit quickly lights up, and Simmons says urgently towards it, "This is Agent Tyler Simmons of the Central Intelligence Agency! We are being chased by an Imperial Star Destroyer in the Sempidal system! We need help! If any Terran ships can hear us, please respond!"
There are a few moments of silence. Then, a hologram of a British vice admiral named Philip Jones appears, and the vice admiral, with a smile on his face, says, "Don't worry, Agent Simmons. You're not alone."
A few moments later, up ahead a pair of Jutland class heavy cruisers drop out of hyperspace, as well as an Impediment class interdiction cruiser. Then, before Simmons can react to this, the battlecruiser Repulse drops out of hyperspace. Simmons and Eric both grin broadly, knowing now that they'll be fine.
The Repulse, for years, has been the pride of the fleet. When the London class Star Destroyers were conceived, it was decided by the Terran Joint Command that a larger ship was needed in the fleet, to help hold the line until the London class and other ships could begin mass production. And so, what was to become the Repulse class battlecruiser design, which was in the works, was ordered to be rushed into production.
Most ships of the class were to be built at the Terran Star Forge, but the lead ship, the Repulse, was ordered to begin construction immediately. The official start of construction began with the equivalent of the keel-laying, which took place in January 1995. Construction of the Repulse was the highest priority in the Terran armed forces after the construction of the Terran Star Forge.
The Repulse, thanks to incredible effort put into the effort, was commissioned into the fleet in November 1999. At that time, the Starfleet comprised the original eight Venator class Star Destroyers given to them by the Republic, seven more that the Terran Alliance had captured during the Jedi Purge, three captured Lucrehulk class battleships, two captured Providence class dreadnoughts, 3 captured Munificent class frigates, four captured Resuscant class destroyers, and the first London class Star Destroyer, the TAS London.
The Repulse, at the time of her commissioning, was easily the most advanced warship in the fleet. She was also the largest and most powerful ship in the fleet. And, her hyperdrive was the most advanced in the fleet.
When she was commissioned, Repulse was the most important ship in the fleet. People all over the world watched her commissioning ceremony. For years, the defense of Earth rested heavily on the Repulse. And even after more ships of her class were built, and more powerful ships were built, the Repulse remained the pride of the Starfleet and the flagship of the entire fleet. It was only when the Freedom was commissioned that her position of fleet flagship was lost. However, she was still held in high regards by all of the Alliance.
Now, Simmons and Eric grin broadly as the Repulse emerges from hyperspace. "Oh. Those Imps don't stand a chance," Simmons says.
On the three Terran warships, their hangar bays open, and almost a hundred fighters stream out. Leading them are two dozen SF-23s, a starfighter version of the American built YF-23 fighter prototype, considered the premier space superiority fighter in the Starfleet. Following behind them are 80 Mirage 5000s, a multirole starfighter designed by Dassault Aviation that is essentially a nose and forward section of a Mirage 2000 fitted to the body of an ARC-170 (slightly modified) and the tail section of a Rafale. It is considered one of the best attack fighters the Alliance has.
The fighters streak towards the Star Destroyer. The Imperials quickly launch as many TIE fighters as they can.
As the TIEs race to intercept the Terran fighters, the SF-23s pull ahead. Locking their missiles onto their targets, the SF-23 pilots begin to ripple fire missiles towards the incoming TIEs.
The TIEs weave side to side and dive, trying to avoid the missiles. However, with the modifications made to air to air missile designs to enable them to operate in space have made them even more maneuverable. While some of the TIEs are able to break missile lock, most of the missiles find their targets. The SF-23s then move in and engage the few remaining TIEs with their laser cannons.
As the SF-23s hold off the remaining TIEs, the Mirages move in to attack. Each Mirage is carrying 4 SGM-65 Maverick missiles.
The Mirages streak in amidst turbolaser fire. A dozen of them target their missiles on the shield generators, while others wait to target their missiles on turbolaser batteries and ion cannons.
The lead 12 Mirages streak in and fire their missiles. Mavericks are designed specifically to be able to penetrate a ship's shields. Several of the missiles explode against the shields, but the rest find their targets, destroying the two bulbous shield generators on the bridge of the Star Destroyer.
Without missing a beat, the rest of the Mirages attack, firing their missiles at the Star Destroyer's weapons. With far weaker shields, the Star Destroyer's weapons explode one after the other.
Their missiles expended, the Mirages pull back and get out of the way. As they do, the Repulse and her two escorting heavy cruisers open fire with their turbolasers.
Hundreds of turbolaser bolts from the three ships begin to impact the Star Destroyer. The bridge, completely unprotected after the destruction of the generators, explodes under the impact. With the bridge destroyed, the rest of the ship begins to explode as well, culminating in a final explosion that completely destroys the ship.
Simmons grins as he watches the Star Destroyer explode. He then turns to Eric and says, "Take us to the Repulse."
Eric throttles up and heads right for the battlecruiser. Within a few minutes, he's landing in the Repulse's hangar bay.
As they land, hangar technicians race towards the ship. Some begin examining the damage to the ship. One tech spots the tracking device planted on the ship, and quickly destroys it.
Meanwhile, on the bridge, Vice Admiral Jones says, "Let's head home." The Repulse, Jutland, Philippine Sea, and Impediment all turn around and make the jump into hyperspace.
(August 24, 2013)
President Barack Obama sighs a bit as he looks over a series of reports regarding recent exploration of the galaxy, and a possible inhabited world they were prepared to investigate.
Suddenly, the door opens, and General Martin Dempsey, one of the commanders of the Joint Terran Command, walks in. "Mr. President. Agent Simmons and his team have returned. And they have news they must share with you immediately," Dempsey says.
"Send them in," Obama says.
A moment later, Simmons walks in, his face grave. Without even waiting for the president to greet him, he says, "Mr. President. We have a major situation. The Empire is nearing completion of a battlestation called the Death Star. This battlestation is reportedly equipped with a weapon capable of destroying entire planets in a single blast."
Obama just sits there for a moment, then says, "I'm calling a meeting of Joint Command. They need to hear this immediately."
Within hours, Simmons and his team are standing before the generals and admirals that make up the Joint Terran Command, explaining what they discovered about the Death Star. Without hesitation, the Joint Command orders that all forces be put on high alert, and an envoy be sent to the galaxy to contact the Rebel Alliance. Contact between the Terrans and Rebellion has been minimal, but it has existed since the Rebellion was formed. Now, the Joint Command recognizes that the time for war may be fast approaching.
And, I'll end there. I hope you liked this one.
So, I'll only be doing a few chapters based off of Rogue One, and I'll be covering the Battle of Scariff in one chapter.
So, the Repulse is going to be featured multiple times in this story. Also, for those wondering, the Terran Starfleet uses 8 kind of ships: light cruisers, heavy cruisers, interdiction cruisers, Star Destroyers, battlecruisers, battleships, starfighter carriers, and Super Star Destroyers. These are the size categories used by the Terran Alliance: light cruisers range from 600-900 meters, heavy cruisers range from 900-1,200 meters, Star Destroyers and interdiction cruisers from 1,200 to 2,500 meters, battlecruisers range from 2,500 to 4,00 meters, battleships ranging from 4,000 meters to 10,000 meters, and Super Star Destroyers anything bigger than 10,000 meters. Starfighter carriers aren't characterized by size, but by purpose, which is carrying as many starfighters and bombers as possible. The Starfleet also use some auxiliary ships and frigates, but mainly for non combat purposes. The eight types of ships I listed above are the ones used for combat.
Also, just for reference, the classes of ships we've seen so far are the London and Baltimore class star destroyers (named generally for cities), Jutland class heavy cruisers (named generally for famous battles), Impediment class interdiction cruisers (still working out a naming system for them), and Repulse class battlecruisers (named for battlecruisers used in the past by Terran navies). I have already created wiki pages for them all, as well as other classes used by the Starfleet that we haven't seen yet. I will not be giving the specifications for the ships in chapters anymore. The only exception was the Freedom in Chapter 1. If you want the specifications, go look on the wiki.
That's it for today. Next chapter will be up soon. Until then, leave a review, and stay tuned!
