"Do you think this is because we're consuming their descendants en-masse?" Megan asked as yet another pterodactyl swooped towards the cave entrance, its claws grasping air. "I don't know if I'll be able to eat chicken again."

From the other direction, further into the cave, heavy stomping was drawing nearer. The Doctor stepped in front of Megan as shadows appeared on the walls of the cave, whatever was nearing them now coming even closer.

Even Megan blinked in surprise as two big metal robots, light flickering and mechanics sparking, stepped into view. "Oh not these two…" she muttered to herself.

"We are very cross with you," one said, pointing an accusing finger at them.

The Doctor looked back, confused. Rory could only shake his head and shrug whilst his father looked at him for an explanation.

"Take us to your leader?" Megan said.

"We don't have to listen to you!" the other robot said.

"So we won't be brought to your leader?" Megan asked.

"No- ye- be quiet, you're our hostages now!"

And so they were led through the corridors by the two robots. Once her heartrate returned to normal, Megan was about to ask for more information on the whole jumping-through-time thing, when a triceratops ran around a corner and towards them.

The Doctor beamed at it, immediately crouching down to pet it. Not wanting to miss the opportunity, Megan followed his example. Its skin was course, but suprisingly soft.

"I'm petting a triceratops," she said, more to confirm it to herself than anything else.

The Doctor smiled at her. "It's not all bad, ey?"

Megan let out a laugh, but tears started forming in her eyes. She quickly stepped back to wipe them away. She couldn't afford to have a breakdown now. Meanwhile, the triceratops was nudging Brian's legs. Turns out, all it wanted was to play fetch with a golf ball, and then they were free to go on their merry way.

When the robots stopped at a gated door that apparently only the Doctor was allowed to go through, Megan leaned against the metal wall and slowly slid down until she was sat on the floor. She passively watched as Rory and Brian had an argument with the robots over manners whilst the Doctor was doing Megan-can't-remember-what on the other side of the door.

"I don't even like this episode that much," she whispered to herself.

After a period of silence, a click came from the door, followed by a croaky voice: "Injure the girl."

Megan looked up just in time to see a red beam being shot towards her, a white hot burning sensation spread through her shoulder quickly afterwards. She stumbled back, hitting her head against the metal wall. She could just about make out the Doctor's voice in the background as her world turned to black.

A brief flash of panic overcame Megan as she woke up in an unknown room. The panic settled down to a more general anxiety as the Doctor almost immediately appeared at her side.

"Is this going to be a regular occurrence? Me passing out?"

The Doctor frowned. "What? No! Maybe?"

"Great." Megan slowly pushed herself to sit up straight and let her eyes wander around the room. It was a clean room with mostly white surfaces, with some random devices. "I can't believe you actually have a med-bay." She swung her legs around so she could sit on the bed more comfortably. The Doctor looked her up and down and seemed to start several motions without following through on any. Megan patted the space on the bed next to her and he plopped down immediately.

"I suppose you have a lot of questions."

"Do you have any answers?"

"Some."

"Are any of them satisfying?"

"Rarely."

"Can you just rip the bandaid off?"

The Doctor tensed up a bit. "Are you sure it's not all… a bit much?"

Megan laughed. "Everything about this is a bit much!" Her smile fell at the concern in the Doctor's eyes. She shifted uncomfortably and looked down at her hands. "Come on, rapidfire."

"Well," he took a deep breath, "You have some form of time vortex energy running through you, your body seems to naturally create it somehow, and it accumulates until you jump. Now, this seems to happen without much consistency, but we do know that holding it off is harmful, so don't do that."

Megan perked up. "I can hold it off?"

"Yes- No, don't!"

She held up her hands, which had slowly started glowing again. "Are you sure, because I really don't feel like running for my life again."

Remorse filled the Doctor's face. He gently grabbed her hands. "Wherever you land, I'll be there. I'll always take care of you."

Megan was swept away before she could respond. Obviously.
