Chapter 0.5: Zelda and Link

(((This was initially not a part of this fanfiction, but I decided to add this chapter in order to flesh out some aspects of the story that weren't fleshed out enough)))

A few days after the defeat of Calamity Ganon

"Link." Zelda said in her soft voice.

"Yes, Zelda?" Link replied.

"Do you think it's worth bringing back the Royal Family and reinstating the former government?"

Link looked at the grassy plains in thought. "It's your choice."

"You two seem inseparable." A wise old voice sounded out behind them. They turned around and saw Impa, the leader of Kakariko Village, walking towards them with her gigantic straw hat shading her entire body.

"I-Impa!" Zelda said, somewhat startled.

Link bowed down to her humbly.

"No need to do that, knighty boy." Impa said in response to Link's gesture. "You'll break your back out of too much respect." Link propped himself back up, a little bit embarrassed. Impa turned to Zelda. "Something is on your mind, young Princess."

Zelda touched her own arm in nervousness. "I'm just worried about what the future will hold for us, and what the people of Hyrule would think about Royalty returning to the present. It's been 100 years."

Impa closed her eyes in thought, thinking about how to answer Zelda. "I assure you, this kingdom could do well with a ruling body, and that castle in the distance isn't going anywhere. The first thing we should prioritize is reclaiming the old Castle Town, and getting rid of any monster encampments that are along the traveling route to the town so we can easily get supplies over there." Link's ears perked up when he heard the part about getting rid of the monsters. "You will need the assistance of the champions around the whole kingdom if you wish to rebuild the place. While you gain assistance from the other Champions, perhaps you could come to agreements with them about returning the Royal Kingdom."

"Where else could we get help from?" Link said. "The people around Hyrule are small in numbers, and some of them I know can't exactly help too much."

Impa smiled. "Well, 100 years ago a few Hylians left out to the ocean in order to find a place away from the striking grounds of the Calamity. The island they fled to is called Windfall Island, and we could use the assistance of the people over there for our rebuilding. Not only for Castle Town, but for the rest of Hyrule."

Zelda lost all nervousness within herself. "That sounds great! More hands on deck could easily bring Hyrule back to a prosperous status! What should we prioritize first, Impa?"

"The first thing you must do is check in on the other Champions. The sooner you have their assistance, the faster the work can be done." Impa replied.

"Well Link, looks like we have our work cut out for ourselves!" Zelda said to Link. The two of them whistled for their horses and leapt onto them, prepared to ride. Zelda and Link looked down at Impa. "We'll be back soon!"

"Be careful on your travels, you two." Impa replied.

The two of them galloped their horses across the field, the hooves stamping into the ground at a rhythm familiar to the both of them. Link had ridden on horseback for a long time by himself for the past few months, so it was finally relaxing knowing he had a second person with a second horse riding beside him. And that person was Zelda, a person he didn't think he'd see alive again after all that time. Link mustered up his thoughts and decided to initiate a conversation.

"Zelda, do you feel tired or weak?" Link asked.

"No, why do you ask?" Zelda replied.

"You've been using your power to repel Ganon for 100 years. That must have been an exhausting experience."

"You'd be surprised at how simple it was." Zelda said. "It didn't even feel like 100 years to me, more like a few weeks."

"A few weeks?" Link replied with disbelief.

"It's strange, trying to describe it. While the world kept on moving, I felt like I was trapped in some sort of bubble of time, perhaps given to me by my own magic abilities." Zelda looked at the back of her hand, noticing three triangles that were formed onto her skin. "To believe that even after harnessing all that power, I didn't fully understand what it all meant."

"I've had feelings like that before." Link added. "Not knowing what power I had in my possession."

"Good to know we're on the same playing field when it comes to knowing the cards we're dealt with." Zelda said. Their horses continued galloping, and Zelda noticed something about Link's horse. "Your horse."

"Hm?"

"She has a white mane and brown fur. What's her name?" Zelda asked.

"Epona." Link patted his horse on the side of her head, and Epona shook her head in satisfaction. "She's probably my favorite horse."

"Epona. I don't think I've seen a horse like her in a long time." Zelda said.

"Yes, she-" Link almost said something but cut himself off. Their horses were moving through a forested area. He commanded Epona to stop, and Zelda's horse also stopped at the sight of Epona stopping. Link pulled out a bow and knocked an arrow. He let the arrow loose and shot at a bush. All of a sudden, a bulbous Octorok appeared from under the bush, but Link quickly drew another arrow and let it fly straight into the Octorock's face, causing it to deflate.

"Good eye Link." Zelda said. "We should keep going."

"Wait a second." Link knocked another arrow, as he heard something else. Link looked at the trees and saw some movement behind the trees. He trained his sights on that area. Soon enough, the big ugly head of a Bokoblin peered around the corner with a malicious smile, but it was quickly silenced by an arrow to the face, the sharp head of the arrow penetrating through it's eye and into it's brain. It laid on the ground, an arrow in its face and twitching.

"I don't remember this forest having any monsters." Zelda said.

"100 years of time lent the monsters many places of refuge and ambush." Link said. "And I have a feeling there are more here." Link reached into his inventory and handed Zelda a Royal Broadsword. "Don't hesitate to swing that."

"I know how to use a weapon." Zelda replied, as she gripped onto her sword. Link looked around the forest, hearing sounds come closer to him. Link hopped off of Epona and patted her on the back, which caused her to gallop away from him and Zelda. "Why did you do that?" Zelda asked.

"I don't want her to hurt." Link said. He pulled out his Master Sword and held his Hylian Shield forward. Zelda was still on her horse, holding onto her sword. Coming from the bushes were two Bokoblins and a Moblin. The two Bokoblins approached Link with their spiked clubs at the ready. One of them swiped at Link, which he quickly dodged and returned with a flurry of attacks, sending the beast flying back, cut in several places. Link pulled out his Sheikah Slate and put the Moblin into Stasis, and then in a few precise hits, he chopped the remaining Bokoblin's arms off, finishing it with a stab. The Moblin returned from Stasis and slammed it's massive club down towards Link, which Link parried with his shield, sending the Moblin's club flying. Link slashed at the Moblin's legs, causing it to fall over and bellow a sound of pain. Link swiftly stabbed it's stomach, piercing through it's organ. The Moblin fell to the floor, erupting a small fountain of blood from the sword's stab. Link walked up to the Moblin's giant body, looking for signs of life. He finished the Moblin by stabbing right into its head, his mighty sword pierced through the thick skull of the Moblin. Link reached into the Moblin's carcass and grabbed one of its organs. Link turned to Zelda, some blood on his face. Zelda put her hand over her mouth at how relentless Link killed them. Link wiped the blood off his face and whistled for Epona to return. He boarded Epona and joined Zelda's side.

"D-did you need to kill them like that?" Zelda said.

"I've killed them like this before. You have even." Link replied.

"No, like, the way you fought. It was wild, without any remorse." Zelda said as she commanded her horse to walk forward, which in turn caused Epona to walk forward as well. "I have killed my own fair share of monsters, but I remembered it being cleaner."

"The monsters have taught me that fighting clean isn't a good option." Link replied. "If the battle becomes messy, that's the ugly truth you have to face. So embrace it instead of trying to fight honorably."

Zelda thought about the Moblin's sound of pain as it fell over. "Do you think there's more to the monsters than meets our perception?"

"What?" Link said, trying not to raise his voice.

"The monsters, they seem to have been in Hyrule for some time now. Throughout history, they were always present and causing trouble, causing us Hyruleans to fight back against them, or to cower in terror at their presence." Zelda searched for more words. "What if we were to find a way to drive them off of Hyrule and somewhere else? Far away, where they couldn't hurt us?"

Link read Zelda's mind. "If you think there's redemption in these monsters, then give up on it. They might seem like they value life, but they only value their own. They don't belong in this Kingdom, they are like a disease. All they ever do is disrupt the lives of we Hyruleans and attempt to destroy us. Did the Calamity not teach you anything?"

"What the Calamity taught me was that we needed to anticipate the worst and prepare for the worst." Zelda said. "However, the monsters have life signs. I feel like the only reason we choose to villainize them is because they invaded our land, and they were only pushed by the malice of Calamity Ganon."

"No Zelda, it doesn't work like that." Link said. "The monsters we ran into in that forest were ready to kill us. All they want is meat and carnage, and we're meat to them. Calamity Ganon is dead now, and yet they keep on attacking people around the Kingdom."

Zelda was feeling a bit light headed from the conversation. Was that time she spent repelling Calamity Ganon giving her a different perspective on something that she shouldn't be thinking about? "Link, it's good to know you're speaking up more for yourself."

Link widened his eyes in a bit of shock and rubbed the back of his head. "Aha, thanks Zelda."

The two of them continued trotting their horses down the pathway, on their way to speak to the Champions of each settlement.

A few weeks after the defeat of Calamity Ganon

Link and Zelda stood on a cliff that overlooked the Lanayru Region and Zora's Domain, but most importantly, the massive Divine Beast Vah Ruta that sat atop the cliff, dormant. The two of them turned around when they heard someone coming. "Sidon!" Link said at the sight of the proud Zora.

"Link! Zelda! So good to see you two!" Sidon reached out his arms and hugged the two Hylians, who hugged him back. Sidon's infectious personality brightened up the moods of the both of them. "So, what are we going to do with Vah Ruta?"

"Well Sidon," Zelda replied, "We are going to see if we could somehow bring it back to our own command."

Sidon looked at the giant mechanical beast, thinking about what it did to Zora's Domain, and her sister. "Let's begin then." He said.

The three of them climbed onto Vah Ruta and started inspecting its interior. Link scanned the area with his Sheikah Slate, until eventually he noticed something peculiar. One of the terminals that he used to activate the beast was moving, perhaps reacting to his Sheikah Slate. The terminal opened up and inside of it lay a single Sheikah Slate, completely identical to the one Link was holding.

"Another Sheikah Slate?!" Zelda said with exclamation. "How intriguing!" She walked up to the terminal and grabbed the Sheikah Slate, inspecting it. Surely enough, it was working. "This is incredible! This could mean there are more of these for other people to use!" Zelda studied the screen. She noticed something similar to the camera function and tapped it. All of a sudden, she saw an image of Prince Sidon's legs, but upside down, and somehow the image was moving. "What?"

Link looked at Zelda's screen and quickly took his own Sheikah Slate off his hip. The image of Zelda's screen became blurry but then started to focus as it turned into an image of Link's boots, but from Link's perspective. Link decided to move the Slate around and made it look straight at Zelda. Zelda saw herself on the Slate's screen, but from Link's perspective. "Zelda, do you have any idea what this is?" Link asked. Sidon also looked in curiosity.

"This is amazing!" Zelda said. "You have a live feed coming from your own Slate! I wonder what else we could do?" Zelda tapped the screen again and saw a small box with her face in the corner, with the image of Link's Slate still broadcasted on the majority of the screen. "Link, tap your screen!"

Link tapped the screen of his own Sheikah Slate and saw a picture of himself in the corner of the screen. A majority of the screen had Zelda's face on it, moving for some reason. "What's this?" Link asked.

"This seems to be a method of communication!" Zelda said. "With this, we would be able to make long distance calls from across Hyrule! Even better is if we could find more, the other Champions could have their own method of communicating with us!"

"Well that's fantastic!" Sidon said, with a big smile on his face.

"That's great." Link said as he observed his Sheikah Slate.

A month after the defeat of Calamity Ganon

Link and Zelda walked through a dark and damp cave that was attached to the Zonai Ruins within the Faron Region. They had a big creature help them carry their belongings, and allowed it to stop and drink water whenever it needed to. The strange architecture was fascinating to Zelda, as she loved taking pictures of the different structures underneath. Zelda had a haircut, so her hair was short now. Link held a torch that helped illuminate their path, noticeably he had some leather armor implemented into his Champion's Tunic. Link took a look at the back of his hand, noticing a triangle glowing. Zelda's hand was also glowing with a triangle on it. The light seemed to become brighter and more consistent as they went deeper into the cave.

Eventually the two arrived at a spot where they would have to continue without the big creature, so they took their belongings and let it wander back through the cave. Link was already well accustomed to carrying an obscene amount of things on himself, so he didn't mind carrying more items. They stopped once they noticed a strange eerie light in front of them, but the triangles on the back of their hands were pulsating now, with a consistent glow seducing them to come closer to the eerie light. They approached the eerie light, and as they came closer, they started to make out the figure of a deceased and dried up corpse. Link observed it, and took notice of the purple energy swirling above the body, identifying it as malice.

"Zelda, do you recognize that purple energy?" Link said to Zelda.

"That could mean only one thing. This corpse could be related to Calamity Ganon." Zelda said as she observed the corpse. She took a notice of the corpse's red hair, and it's golden necklace. It even wore a loincloth that featured the emblem of the Gerudo tribe. "Could this be…?"

All of a sudden, the purple malice energy started swirling around the room rapidly, and eventually it went into the ground. Link and Zelda looked around, confused for a few seconds, when all of a sudden erupting from the ground came a golden arm. Another larger golden arm erupted from the ground, and finally a golden scaly arm came out from the ground. All of the arms pulled their bodies out of the ground, revealing a golden Bokoblin, a golden Moblin, and a golden Lizalfos. "What in the world?" Link said, as he brandished his Master Sword, glowing with light. "I've never seen a golden monster before."

"Whatever they are," Zelda pulled out her Royal Broadsword, as she observed the golden monsters licking their lips in voracious haste, "They are here to kill us. Let's get rid of them."

Link shot a beam of energy straight at the Lizalfos, causing it to fly back. The Gold Bokoblin rushed right at Link and attempted to punch him, but he dodged out of the way and slashed at it, sending it flying back. All of the cuts he left on it started to heal, much to Link's surprise. Zelda was attacking the Gold Moblin, trying her best to slice at it with all her might. One of her sword swipes caused her to lose balance. "Ahh!" Zelda said as she attempted to gain her balance. The giant Moblin slammed it's fist down at Zelda, but Link quickly jumped right in front of Zelda with his shield raised, blocking the incoming attack from the Moblin.

"Zelda, remember what I taught you!" Link said, as he quickly let loose a flurry of attacks at the Moblin. The Moblin stumbled back, and just as with the Bokoblin, the cuts from his sword were healing fast. "Damnit!" Link exclaimed.

Zelda pulled out her bow and backed away from Link, she aimed her arrow at the Lizalfos that was starting to rush at her. She let the arrow loose, and the arrow hit the Lizalfos to the floor, but it seemed to shake the hit off very easily. Zelda pulled out her sword again and slashed at the Lizalfos some more, hitting it in it's vital spots. After a few dangerous hits from the sword, the Lizalfos recovered it's senses and spit it's tongue out at Zelda, it's nasty salivated tongue punching her backwards. Link snuck up behind the Lizalfos and slashed at it's backside, causing the Lizalfos to keel over and die, with it's back side split open. Link turned around blocked the incoming attacks from the Bokoblin and the Moblin. He rushed back to Zelda to help her up.

"Zelda, are you alright?" Link said as he handed her a cooked meal. "Eat this, it will make you more fortified."

Zelda wolfed down the food and started to feel her own skin start to tighten around her, as if she was growing a small shell of fortified skin. She remembered Link's teachings and ran up to the Bokoblin with her sword ready. The gold Bokoblin attempted to swing it's club at her, but she blocked the attack and she returned with several slices to it's arm, slicing it's shoulder tendon clean off, causing it to gush a ton of blood. The Bokoblin squealed and she aimed straight for it's open mouth, stabbing through to its brain, causing it to keel over and release it's final breaths. Link minded the gigantic claymore the Gold Moblin held in both its hands and continued whaling his sword against it, the valorous strikes of the Master Sword continuing to damage the Moblin's regenerating skin. The Moblin swung it's massive claymore at Link, sending him flying and rolling back into the wall. He shook his head and regained his composure, as he saw the giant lumbering towards him, it's tongue licking its snout in famishment. Zelda snuck up behind the Moblin and slashed at its back, causing it to fall over. Link swiftly got up and stabbed the Moblin's head in place, causing it to cease existence.

"That…" Link was breathing heavily, clutching onto his wound. "Was way too close."

Zelda comforted him. "Here, eat this." Zelda said as she gave Link a hearty meal.

Link nibbled the food and started to feel better. He picked himself up and he approached the corpse with caution. He had his Master Sword raised, and Zelda followed behind with her sword raised as well. They looked at the corpse some more and all of a sudden, a blood curdling scream permeated through the air. Zelda and Link stood still, paralyzed by the terrifying sound. They both were locked in place, looking straight at the corpse. The corpse all of a sudden drooped it's head and looked straight at them, and all of a sudden some illuminous and evil eyes appeared from the empty eye sockets of the dried up corpse. The two of them watched in terror as the corpse slowly started to move all of its withered body parts, making an unsettling cracking noise with each movement. In a brief flash of light the corpse's shadow casted the silhouette of a large and hulking man. The corpse started to get up from it's resting spot, the purple malice energy surrounding itself. It placed its feet on the floor and started walking, and it raised the back of it's hand to the two petrified Hylians.

The reanimated corpse possessed a third golden triangle on the back of it's hand. Zelda tried to say something, but couldn't. The corpse pointed it's triangle at Link, causing him to cease his petrified state. He didn't know what else to do, so he swung his sword at the corpse, yet it grabbed his sword in place. The corpse stood there, looking straight into Link's eyes as he struggled to pull the Master Sword out of its unusually strong grip. The corpse started to open it's decayed mouth, and it spoke to Link in an eerie and uncomfortable voice.

"The Chosen Hero has come to die." The corpse said, with exasperated breath. "For over many millennia, beings like the two of you have stopped my Demise from taking over your land, or should I say, my land. The Goddesses cursed me to an eternal existence of endless cycles, all of which converged to this moment. Even when I was victorious, I was eventually slain. Even when I was slain, I returned, and yet the world flooded. And even when I was sealed away, I broke out but was slain once again. I've seen all timelines and outcomes, and they all end with one of your kind stopping me dead in my tracks, no matter my efforts. You Hylians are the most annoying and stubborn beings in existence. I- AHHHHH!" All of a sudden a streak of light came from behind Link and striked the creepy speaking corpse. Link turned around and saw Zelda, holding onto the Bow of Light, which she conjured in this moment of need. Link pulled his sword back and sliced right at the corpse, causing it to fall over and cease anymore movements.

"What in the name of the Goddess was that?" Link said, as he regained his breath.

"This is definitely the reanimated corpse of Ganon." Zelda said. "We must try and experiment with it."

"Are you crazy?" Link said.

"We can take it with us, perhaps try to find a way to communicate with it and make it reason with us."

"Zelda, that thing doesn't look like it wants to come with us for milk and cookies." Link said, exhausted and tired.

"If we contain it, perhaps we can lock it up somewhere secluded so that it doesn't harm others." Zelda said as she started to take pictures of it.

"Whatever you say, Princess." Link replied.

Four months after the defeat of Calamity Ganon

Caravans of Hylians were coming in from Windfall Island and pouring into the mainland of Hyrule, assisting the Hyruleans with the rebuilding of Hyrule Castle Town. Link and Zelda walked around the town, overlooking the places being rebuilt.

"To believe that for 100 years this place was coated in malice." Zelda said in awe at the rebuilding of the town. The Islander Hylians were hard at work, with the Gorons, the Gerudo, the Zora, and the Rito all contributing their own hard work to the hefty project as well. Joining by their side stood a tall man in red robes, someone from the island. Zelda looked up at them in surprise and clutched her chest. "Aghanim! Don't surprise me like that!"

The red robed man replied. "Princess, if you wish to rule Hyrule, you would need to have your wits about you more often." Aghanim said with a stern and authoritative voice.

Zelda kept her hand on her chest. "I've just never seen this many Hylians since the days before the Calamity. This whole world feels so new to me. Aghanim, without your help, I don't think I'd be able to see this day come to fruition. Thank you so much."

"Your kind words are meaningful to me." Aghanim said in reply. "May the Royal Family prosper in the years to come."

"And I hope our future remains untouched and untainted as well." Zelda replied, a smile on her face. Aghanim walked away with his hands behind his back, observing the rebuilding of Castle Town.

Link turned to Zelda. "Do you get an uneasy feeling when you're around that Aghanim guy?"

"Sometimes." Zelda said. "But if it weren't for him, we wouldn't be here right now."

"I've heard some rumors that he has a beef with the Payne family. Y'know, that rich family that's building their own estate just outside of Castle Town?" Link pointed to the west and Zelda saw a mansion under construction.

"Why would Aghanim be in a rivalry with a rich family? They're providing us plenty of rupees and materials for our rebuilding, I'd assume he'd be fine with them."

"It honestly beats me. I'd take the information with a grain of salt, just to be cautious." Link said.

The two of them walked through Castle Town just a bit more until Link heard the voice of a little boy crying. He looked in the direction of the crying voice and eventually saw a lone Hylian child. Zelda went down to the child. "Is something wrong, young one?"

The child opened his eyes, ugly tears going down his face. "I miss my family!" He rubbed his eyes but couldn't stop compulsively crying.

"What happened to them?" Zelda asked.

"They- they- sent me here! They're still living on Windfall Island. They sent me here because they wanted me to join the Knight Academy with my friends." The kid kept on rubbing his reddened eyes, tired from all the crying.

"Where are your friends?" Zelda asked.

"I don't know!" The kid kept on crying into his balled up fists.

Link reached into his pocket and approached the kid. "Hey kid, take a look at this." The kid opened his eyes and looked at Link's hand. Link was holding a Keaton Mask, which depicted a yellow creature with long ears. The kid reached his hands up to the mask and observed it. "You can have this." Link said.

The kid looked up at Link, feeling like he needed to give him something. "How many rupees is this?"

"Normally this would cost 200 rupees, but I'm giving this to you for free." Link said.

The kid looked back at his mask and put it on his face. The kid felt happy, knowing that no one else could see his tired and reddened eyes. He looked at Link and Zelda some more. "You two smell like horses."

Zelda was happy at hearing this. "Why of course, we are avid horse riders after all."

"Can you two teach me how to ride a horse? I always see people riding them, but I never got to ride one. Windfall Island doesn't have any horses, so they are a fascinating animal to me."

"We'll give you a ride. Hopefully, we'll find your friends after you get to ride on the back of a horse." Zelda and Link guided the child to a stable next to the wall that was being reconstructed outside of Castle Town. Link took out Epona, and Zelda took out her own horse. The kid looked at the two horses.

"I want the brown horse." The kid said.

"Ah, her name's Epona." Link said as he pet Epona's snout. "Come here, I'll let you on." The kid walked up to Link and he propped the kid up onto Epona. Link climbed behind the kid. "Say kid, how much can you see in that mask?"

"I can see enough." The kid responded, as he reached for the horses reins.

"Now kid, you want to hold those reins like me. Since this is your first time on a horse, I will guide you on where you need to put your hands." Link put his hands over the kid's hands. Zelda watched from her horse, happy at seeing Link working well with a child. "Alright, now, we raise the reins slowly and command Epona to start trotting." Link pulled at the reins and Epona started trotting along.

"Ah!" At first, the kid was surprised by the sudden movement of Epona's body. He wouldn't have fallen off though, especially since Link's grip was confidently on the kid's hands. As Epona started going on a steady gallop, the kid decided to spread out his arms to feel the wind blow onto his arms. "Take my mask off." The kid asked Link. Link took the mask off the kid and his eyes widened in amazement at the vast green expanse of Hyrule Field. The wind blowing into his face felt similar to the ocean wind hitting his face on the island, only this time he had the view of many mountains, including the Dueling Peaks, Death Mountain, the Hebra Mountains, and the Gerudo Tundra. Of course, he didn't know the names of these mountains, he just liked seeing them. He looked to his side and saw Zelda on her horse, riding beside them. This felt like the best moment in his life.

Epona galloped back to Castle Town, and the Hylians got off of their horses. As Link brought the kid back down, he asked him a question. "Hey kid, it's awfully rude of us to not have asked what your name was. What's your name?"

The kid planted his feet on the ground. "I'm Poump. And I know who you two are. You're Link, the Hero of Hyrule. And you're Princess Zelda, the Angel of Light."

"Ah-ha, nice to meet you Poump." Link said.

"You're very cute, Poump. I assure you that no harm will come to you." Zelda said.

As the two of them walked back into Castle Town with Poump, he noticed his friends. "There they are! My friends!" Poump turned around to Link and Zelda. "Thank you two!" Poump ran up to his friends, and his friend with sharp red pointy hair did a crazy secret handshake with him.

"Angel of Light?" Zelda said. "I never remembered being called that."

"With our status, we could be going by many aliases we've never heard of." Link said as he looked at Castle Town. Zelda locked her eyes on Link, waiting for him to look back at her. Link turned to see her gaze on him. "Uh, what's that look for?" Link said in surprise.

"Seeing you with that child, it made me think," Zelda paused for a moment. "What if we had our own?"

Link widened his eyes in surprise. "Uhm, wouldn't that make me the King or Prince of Hyrule or something? I honestly don't want those titles, but I would like to live a life with you."

Zelda thought to herself. "If you don't want that title, we could simply choose to break that rule."

"Breaking rules seems fun. Do you think Aghanim would get in the way of that?" Link replied.

"Maybe he would, but we can be careful about it." Zelda replied.

"I wouldn't be offended if I had a child with you." Link said, as he and Zelda locked lips and wrestled each other's tongues.

It was night time and Zelda and Link were in the bedroom together. "Oh! Oh! Oh! Oh!" Zelda said as Link thrusted his cock into her pussy. Zelda was holding onto the bed frame tightly as Link plowed her repeatedly with a loud clapping sound. Link and Zelda both climaxed, Link's warm and potent semen coated Zelda's ovaries and began the fertilization process. Zelda and Link breathed heavily at their intense intercourse, and laid next to each other, ready for more.

Five months after the defeat of Calamity Ganon

Link took hold of a flute and started blowing into it. It created a melody that was good enough to soothe the soul of any living being. Link marched towards the giant Leviathan skeleton within the Hebra Mountains with a caravan of monsters following behind him. Bokoblins, Moblins, Lizalfos, and a Lynel. As he entered the cave with the giant Leviathan skeleton, he looked behind himself just to make sure the monsters were all present and accounted for.

After a few minutes of guiding them through the cave, Link and a few Sheikah Researchers enclosed them within the cave, with a locked door barring entry to the monsters.

"Do you researchers think this is the best way to keep them captured?" Link asked.

"Of course." The Sheikah Researcher replied. "We will even build a dungeon with a few traps just to make sure they don't get out."

"That's very good then." Link replied. "Hopefully this project will go well."

A few hours later, Link returned from the Hebra Region and met Zelda at Kakariko Village.

"How did the escort go?" Zelda asked Link.

"It went well." Link replied. "Do you really think that keeping a few settlements of monsters alive around Hyrule is a good idea?"

"We will only have three of them." Zelda said. "It's convenient enough that there are three Leviathan skeletons around Hyrule, and it especially helps that they are all far away from any Hyrulean settlements. We just need to create a defensive barrier around those areas, just to make sure no one accidentally stumbles across the monsters."

"What's our ultimate plan with them?" Link asked.

"I wish for the monsters to be brought out to a secluded island far away at sea. I wouldn't like it, but I will entrust you with going out to the ocean and finding an island suitable for their habitat." Zelda said.

Link ate an apple. "Don't you think it's kinda funny?"

"Huh?"

"That we're really gonna be escorting these monsters away from Hyrule? Like, they're clearly evil. They must be wiped out."

"I think all life has a chance. It's clear that we can't really allow them to roam in large numbers here in Hyrule, but perhaps if they lived far away from us, we wouldn't need to deal with them anymore."

"Ah, Zelda." Link sighed. "I really don't think this a good idea. We should just send them to extinction and-" Zelda slapped Link on the cheek before he could finish his sentence. Link decided not to say anything else. He wanted to tell her about a nightmare he had involving the monsters, but decided it was too sensitive to speak about.

"If you're worried about my well being, I am perfectly safe Link." Zelda said to him. "Those monsters are miles away from us right now, with several settlements of people armed with weapons to stop them from making their way to us."

"This project could take years. Some people could end up getting killed by these monsters." Link said.

"Well I assure you that once I get people to assist us with the monsters, I will tell you." Zelda said.

"I hope you do." Link said.

Seven months after the defeat of Calamity Ganon

"Goodbye Link." Zelda said, tears going down her eyes.

Link stood on the ramp of a ship that was set to go out to sea. "The baby, what will you name it?"

"Link… I don't want you gone. Especially not now."

"I need to find that island. You said it would be best if we got that done as soon as possible."

"Couldn't you wait just a little longer? Until the baby has been born?"

"Our Sheikah Slates, maybe we can communicate on those."

"I doubt that it would work well so far out at sea."

"Trust me Zelda, we'd be able to do it. If not, then take a picture of our baby and show them to me when I get back."

"Okay…" Zelda kissed Link on the lips and Link walked up the ramp onto the ship. As the ship started to sail away from the shoreline, Link waved goodbye to Zelda.

"I miss him already, Impa." Zelda said as she rested in Kakariko Village. "And without him, I have no body guard. And I heard rumors that the Yiga Clan is forming an uprising. Of all times, why now? During an era of peace?"

"The Yiga Clan will stop at nothing to bring an end to the Royal Family of Hyrule." Impa said. "They would have done this uprising at any point, no matter the status quo. That is why I will enlist you with training a new generation of Sheikah Warriors."

"Me? But I can't… I'm pregnant right now." Zelda replied.

Impa patted Zelda's stomach. "You don't need to train them directly. You can have an alter ego."

A female Sheikah Warrior paced in front of a group of Sheikah farmers. "Welcome to training, warriors." The Sheikah Warrior turned to her pupils. "My name is Sheik, and on behalf of Princess Zelda, we are beginning training today to make sure we can repel against the forces of the Yiga Clan, which have been growing in number. Now, I will ask for your names, new warriors." Sheik paced by the farmers, counting their heads. As she passed by each of them, they said their name.

"I am Cado."

"I am Steen."

"I am Lasli."

"I am Claree."

"I am Zhago."

Sheik stopped before Zhago, taking a notice of his stiff posture. "You look like a warrior already, Zhago." Sheik said to him. Sheik studied his eyes, which seemed to hide a deep sadness behind them. "You were the one who had his family killed by the Yiga Clan."

"Yes." Zhago replied dryly, without losing himself.

"I trust you will become a fine warrior." Sheik turned herself to face all of the farmers. "The most important part of being a Sheikah Warrior is to never reveal your name to others. If you reveal your name, chances are the Yiga Clan can identify you and will take the opportunity to hunt you down. Only share your name with people you trust." Sheik approached Zhago. "Do you accept this responsibility?"

"Yes." Zhago replied, an empty expression on his face. A few of the other farmers that were lined up didn't want to carry the burden of such a hard job, so some said no.

Sheik decided that in order to train more warriors, she would need to enlist some Hylians to her cause, and train them in the ways of the Sheikah.

One year after the defeat of Calamity Ganon

"Push!" Paya said. "Push!"

Zelda was breathing heavily as she squatted, being held up by Paya and Prince Sidon. The pain was felt all over her body, as a small baby started to come outside of her womb. A Hylian woman trained her hands underneath Zelda in order to catch the protruding baby. The baby fell out and into the Hylian woman's hands, an umbilical cord still stuck to its stomach. As the baby was taken care of, Zelda was laid back down onto her back and given water to drink.

"What will you name her?" The Hylian woman asked Zelda.

Zelda looked down at the baby, seeing it whine and cry at it's new life. "Hilda. I will name her Hilda." Zelda closed her eyes and fell unconscious.

Paya turned to the Hylian woman. "Thanks, Roldi. We couldn't have organized this without you."

Roldi held the baby in her arms gently. The newborn baby stopped crying and was asleep. "We will take good care of Hilda." Roldi said. "What was Zelda's wish for this child?"

Paya brought up Zelda's diary and read an entry within it. "Even though I promised Link that I would tell him about our child, I decided that I would instead tell him I suffered from a miscarriage. I want everyone to keep this child a secret from him, since I don't want him to carry the burden of becoming a King, since he doesn't wish for that. Wherever he is now, sailing in the ocean, he could do without returning to see a child." Paya finished reading the diary entry and looked around the room. "Zelda has a very weird train of thought."

"If it's what she wishes, then we should fulfill that wish." Prince Sidon said as he tucked Zelda deeper into the blankets.

"You're right, Sidon." Paya said. "Whatever our Queen demands, we should listen to."

Two years after the defeat of Calamity Ganon

Link looked across the vast sea and eventually spotted the silhouette of an island in the distance, big enough for 6 different villages to live on, and a notable mountain that overlooked the island really well. "Alfonzo, Niko, that could be our island!" Link said, an ecstatic energy in his voice.

The boat made it to the shoreline of the island, and Link walked across the island, with the other crew members waiting on the island for him. As Link walked around the island, he felt an adrenaline rush of adventure, seeing such an untamed piece of land. He spent the day climbing the mountain and observing just how big the island really was. As he felt the serene air surround him, four ghosts came from outside of him, much to his surprise.

"Mipha? Revali? Daruk? Urbosa?" Link said with exclamation. "Why do you appear before me now? I thought you were blocked away from my life essence."

"There's no way we were ever really gone." Daruk said.

"You just hadn't felt happy in a long time, so with lower spirits, you lost your ability to communicate with us." Mipha added.

"Good thing we're strong enough to stay linked with your being." Revali said.

"Your reconnection with the wild awakened something within you." Urbosa said.

Link looked at all of his ghostly friends. "Well it's good that I'm able to speak to you all now." Link breathed in the island air, untainted from any civilization. "As much as I'd want to live here, I can't since that would taint this place. My world lies back in Hyrule, and I know I have a child waiting for me there."

"Good to know that you have your limits." Revali said. "Most Hylians don't have the wherewithal to keep a place untouched."

"Thanks Revali." Link replied.

Link paraglided down back to the boat. He set up a marker on his Sheikah Slate map that allowed him to chart a course straight to this island from Hyrule.

A few weeks later, Link returned to Hyrule. The boat docked into Lurelin Village and his soles met with the ground of Hyrule once again. He felt extremely happy to be back, given that for the past 2 years, he had been out at sea and hadn't seen any of his friends for a while. The only folks he had been meeting were people on Windfall Island, but he didn't want to think about them anymore since he had been homesick enough. Link got onto Epona and rode for Hyrule Castle. On the way, he brought up his Sheikah Slate and started to call Zelda.

"Hey, Zelda!" Link said when she picked up. "I'm back!"

"Oh my goodness you're back!" Zelda said, feeling overjoyous.

"I'll be right back with you in a moment!" Link continued riding for the castle.

Link arrived at Hyrule Castle and entered, the guards showed him around the place, showing him all of the new improvements to the castle. Link was impatient though, and decided to walk ahead to where Zelda was. While he was speed walking through the corridors, he eventually ran into Zelda by coincidence. "Whoa!"

"Whoa!"

The two locked eyes with each other for a few moments, and then they locked lips, eating each other out, their lips pressed against each other's lips. The two of them traveled towards a room where they would be alone, and then proceeded to have vigorous sex with each other.

They were done after an hour, their lustful energy ceasing only after several satisfying climaxes. Zelda had her hand on Link's well defined abs, feeling the roughness of his muscles and feeling aroused to do more intercourse. Link breathed heavily and decided to ask her a question. "Zelda, where is our child?"

Zelda opened her eyes in astonishment. She didn't want to answer this now, especially since she was feeling so horny. "We… should save that for later."

"Okay then." Link said.

"For now, I want to enjoy this moment more." Zelda said to Link, oxytocin filling both of their heads.

"I do too, you sexy beast." Link replied. The two kept on humping each other for the rest of the day, almost never tiring. A few servants almost entered the room that day, but left as soon as they heard Zelda's loud moaning.

Link eventually learned that Zelda had a miscarriage, which brought his spirits down, but only by a little. As long as he was able to bang Zelda, it was a good day to him. Zelda never told him the truth about his child, and neither did anyone else at the castle.

Five years after the defeat of Calamity Ganon

Link placed a Lynel Horn onto the countertop of a shop in Castle Town. "How much for this?"

The shopkeeper observed the horn. "A Lynel Horn? I heard they went extinct a few years ago."

"There was one Lynel that was left in the Gerudo Tundra. Not many explorers ever get to see it, and if they do, they usually don't return alive." Link scuffled through his pockets for his wallet. "Here, I'll give you 5,000 rupees as a bonus to this Lynel Horn."

The shopkeeper was very thankful at Link's generosity. "I'll gladly accept these." The shopkeeper said. "You are way too kind, Great Hero."

"It's my offer. You don't even need to pay me either." Link said. "That Lynel Horn now that I think about it could cost upwards of 10,000 rupees."

The shopkeeper opened his mouth in astonishment, his jaw almost coming off. The shopkeeper hung the horn up onto his wall and displayed it proudly, touting it as his most expensive item, brought to him by the Hero of Hyrule. Eventually, a rich man walked into the shop. "Hello there." The rich man said to the shopkeeper.

"Well if isn't Bruce Payne." The shopkeeper said with energy in their voice.

"I'd like to buy that Lynel Horn. How much is it?" Bruce Payne asked.

"20,000 rupees." The shopkeeper said.

"I'll take it." Payne replied, as he paid for the monster part with his riches. "It will be a great addition to my collection."

Zelda and Link overlooked the courtyard at Hyrule Castle, looking at the Guardians they were training. "Are you sure they won't turn against us?" Link asked Zelda.

"Aghanim told me that this is the best course of action in terms of arming our military against the rising Yiga threat." Zelda said. She pointed out several Hylians that were wearing guardian armor, and training with guardian weapons. "Those are the Guardian Commandos. We've been using ancient parts to outfit them with the best armor and weapons to use against the Yiga Clan, in case the Guardians are used on a massive scale against us."

"Who do you think could be leading the Yiga Clan?" Link said.

"I have no idea, but I have heard stories that their new leader is a person named Ghirahim."

"Ghirahim?"

"I know, a strange name for sure."

Link thought about something else to add to the discussion. "How has the progress on our little monster quest been working out?"

"With the Yiga Clan on the rise, I don't want to overcomplicate things by putting people in harm's way just to get this mission done."

"You bring a good point." Link said.

As the two of them were talking, a little girl with purple hair almost approached them, but Roldi quickly snatched the little girl away. Link turned around, but saw no one. Whatever the future held for them, it was making him feel a bit paranoid.

Ten years after the defeat of Calamity Ganon

Several battles have left Hyrule paranoid at the threat of the Yiga Clan. The attacks have been growing in numbers steadily, and Hyrule Castle has been putting many of its soldiers out to the field to face the rising threat. Dirty plumes of smoke rise from the war torn battles the Yiga Clan initiates throughout the land. Zelda and Link overlooked Hyrule from the balcony of Hyrule Castle.

"Zelda, I don't think the Yiga Clan will ever stop at this rate." Link said to Zelda. "We need to get those monsters off of Hyrule and far away now."

"Aghanim doesn't think it's best to prioritize that now." Zelda said to Link.

"Bollocks to Aghanim!" Link exclaimed. "We need to stop relying on his words all the time!"

Zelda touched her arm and thought to herself. "You're right. We can't risk the return of a Blood Moon either. Even though a Blood Moon hasn't risen in 10 years, if one were to appear now, we could be facing something similar to the Calamity's might again."

"We need to get a squad of people skilled enough to carry the job for us, but not well known so that it tracks kingdom-wide attention." Link said.

"I suppose this mission could be underway then." Zelda said. "We will select three random citizens from Castle Town. It wouldn't hurt to try now given how much disarray the kingdom is in."

"And once they're ready, I will be there to guide them." Link said.
