Zazilie
(Well, since I'm doing these chapters in a certain order now, I kinda have time to think about the next one. The problem is, I didn't know what to do here for awhile.)
Where the hell is this… Zazilie thought, stepping out of a grove of trees, straight into a soaked moorland. Looks like… a swamp, almost. She sunk instantly as her talons entered the muck, which was very difficult to see in the darkness of the night, with only the moons as a light source. The mud slid uncomfortably up against her scales as she waded through the muck, continuing on.
Ughh, this feels strange.
The mud would occasionally rise or lower depending on how much solid ground lay beneath, the foul-smelling earth scent wafting through Zazilie's nostrils each time the mud suddenly dipped deeper. She ignored it, pressing on.
Letting that bother me will only slow me down.
Where was she going? She didn't care, she'd go until she either met someone she knew or found a landmark she recognized.
Hopefully.
Suddenly, the mud underneath her made a sucking sound, sounding almost like a stomach growling, waiting to fed.
What's-
She suddenly was submerged under the muck.
Shit!
Zazilie struggled under the burden of the quicksand, her talons thrashing for something to grip onto, but only slicing through the mud as she sunk deeper.
(Yes, quicksand is actually a lot more common in swamps kids. Learn something new everyday.)
Her wings were pinned to her back from the weight, so she was unable to use them to at least attempt using them to escape what she was determined not to make her early grave.
Goddamnit.
She gritted her teeth, remembering something she'd heard about when you're trapped in quicksand, to literally 'swim' out. She flailed around wildly, her tail thrashing furiously against the stiffening quicksand.
Her lungs were screaming for air, just before her head broke the surface.
"Ahhh." She gasped, latching her claws firmly onto a patch of easily seeable solid ground.
Her chest was heaving, the only thing she wanted was air. She lay there for a while, needing rest after having to fight for her life.
…
I'm never coming back here.
She stood up shakily, still operating on only her adrenaline and what was left of her energy.
"G-gah." She gasped, coughing up mud.
"Given how you just almost died, I'd surrender if I were you." a voice said behind her.
Zazilie spun around to face the dragon. Their scales were brown, unlike the the other dragons she'd seen at the seaside. "What the hell are you supposed to be?" She growled.
The dragon shrugged, smiling. "You're going to want to save that breath for the interrogation when I take you in."
Zazilie forced a smile. "You sound so sure of yourself."
The dragon frowned. "C'mon, give it up, NightWing. You're in no shape to fight, let alone escape."
NightWing?
Eh.
He might be right. I can't let that stop me though.
"Who are you to judge?" She grumbled, attempting to walk past them. The dragon sidestepped in from of her.
She glared at him. "Seriously? I just knocked out a dragon back at the ocean, do you want to join him?"
The brown dragon refused to move.
"I'm in no mood to fight right now, but I will if you delay me any further." she warned.
He stepped back, relaxing into a position somewhat reminding Zazilie of a defensive stance. "I'll make sure to enjoy this," he said, grinning wickedly.
(OML A HARDER, BETTER, FASTER, STRONGER REMIX TURNED ON THIS EXACT SECOND watch?v=TQyCLv6eBZU&list=RDMMkpqFAUA2Zyw&index=2 )
"Whatever." she growled.
She lunged forward, raking her claws against his foreleg, barely managing to draw blood out from under his tougher scales.
He responded with slamming his shoulder into her midsection, sending her sprawling back into the mud.
Fuck.
Zazilie ducked as he leapt at her with his claws outstretched, as he was probably thinking he'd caught her off guard.
Of course, she was hoping he'd think that.
She clawed at his underbelly as he overshot his attack, soaring over her head.
He groaned in pain, then spun around in fury. "GaraaaAAAGH!"
Zazilie sprung to her feet right as she was hit with a flurry of blows, the pain temporarily disorienting her.
With one final slash of his claws, he knocked Zazilie back to the ground.
"Goddammit!" She growled in frustration, rolling aside from a blow directed from above her.
The dragon began heaving slightly, as if confused upon something. Zazilie didn't care, he was the one who chose to fight. Scrabbling to her talons, she leapt onto his back and began slashing furiously at his backside, raking her talons savagely again and again, with his only response being a scream of pain as he went down.
"FINE YOU CAN LEAVE!" He screamed, trembling as she leapt away.
That's right.
"Great choice." She mumbled, exhausted. The combination of both her experiences with the quicksand and the other dragon had finally taken their toll. She wasn't going to make it far without sleep much longer…
"Just go." The dragon muttered, glancing painfully at his bloody scales.
"Only if you tell me who you are." She requested, feeling faint.
"Why?"
She exhaled a rattling sigh. "Because why not."
"Whatever. It's Garter."
"What, as in like, a Garter snake?"
"What's it to you? You got a problem with that?" He spat.
"Not at all." She sighed. Her brain was really fuzzy at this point.
Need...to leave….
"What's your name?" he asked in return, surprising her.
He'll never see me again, so why not?
"Zazilie. Now, I must be going." she said, beginning to trudge away, her body feeling heavier and sleepier by each passing minute.
"Bye?" Garter mumbled in confusion.
"Goodbye." She replied, disappearing into the swamp fog without as much as a flick of the tail.
Hours later, she arrived to a small grove of trees, eventually making her way to a small hollowed out space under a bank, entering to escape the light rain, as well as her exhaustion.
She collapsed on the soft ground, not wanting to ponder anything that'd happened during the past few hours.
I don't even care if anyone finds me. I need the sleep.
She closed her eyes, and her consciousness sunk into the darkness of sleep.
(So uh...this chapter is kinda edgy. I've had this document finished for about two years now lmaoooo)
