2 Sophie's POV
"So, what are you going to do about that letter?" Biana asked the moment she reached Havenfield.
"oh I don't know, I mean what CAN I do? Keefe's unconscious for goodness sake! and Fitz... Fitz has been amazing since we broke up trying to make it up to me, so I can't just throw it in his face! I don't want to ruin things. again. And Foxfire is going to be starting soon, so even if I DO like him. What can I do? Biana sighed, "well first of all you can stop worrying about Fitz, he had his chance and he blew it. Bad. Though I will always be rooting for you guys to get back together. But, I also know how long Keefe has liked you, and I think... nevermind what I think. What I DO want you to do is let me help you with figuring this out. You have no idea how many guys I've had to 'let down gently' so you know, I'm helping."
Sophie smiled, for what felt like the first time in a week. "What are you suggesting?" Biana responded with a simple "don't worry it's fun!"
"I thought you said this was going to be fun."Sophie said when Biana came up to her the next day. "Why don't you think this isn't going to be fun?" Biana asked with a little hurt hinting into her voice "Um... well I really don't want to be talking to Stina about this." Sophie said pointing behind Biana.
"I didn't ask her to be here." Biana said when she turned around.
"Guys you have to come to the Healing Center right now! It's keefe!" Stina shouted when she was still a ways off.
As soon as Sophie heard the call she dragged Biana off the nearest cliff and slipped into the void,
"IS HE OK?" Sophie shouted as soon as she and Biana came through the door, "I'm fine Foster, don't worry" at the sound of his voice a sob broke through. "Keefe!" She said through her tears and didn't hesitate to run and hug him. "Are you OK?
When Stina...I thought...maybe...but now..." Sophie started, then stopped because she realized she was blubbering. "I'm fine though I do feel different then I did it's, strange. But I haven't had any signs that I manifested another ability" Keefe said softly as he rubbed her back while she cried. Then sophie seemed to realize she was snot-crying all over his shoulder which is probably why she felt compelled to apologize when she leaned back. "I'm sorry I didn't mean to cry all over you, I just..." "hey" Keefe cut her off, "it's fine Foster, totally fine"
"Sorry to interrupt you but I need Keefe here, to drink these elixirs " Elwin said from somewhere behind her. making Sophie jump realizing that her hands still rested on his chest. "Oh , sorrry. Again." After Keefe had drank at least a dozen elixirs, he started to look a little less pale, and so Sophie decided it would be ok to ask, "When did you wake up?" "About a Half an hour ago, Ro was over me with a..." Keefe just stopped then went completely white. "With a what?" Silence.
"You weren't supposed to find that." He said at barely a whisper.
She then realized what she was holding. The letter.
"Oh." Is all she could think to say.
"Sophie...I'm so...sorry. Just forget about it kay? It doesn't matter." Keefe said, even quieter. This time, with a hint of sadness in his voice.
"No. Don't be sorry. I know what a burden I can be to hide your feelings. So, just don't." Sophie said,
"But Sophie..." Keefe started, but sophie interrupted him.
"No. There's no reason to be sorry. It just. It just makes things a little more complicated."
"Why?" He said, looking up at her with such intensity she suddenly had the courage to say "Because. I think I might like you to."
Keefe audibly sucked in a breath. "Sophie, you know what this means, right?" Sophie didn't know how to answer so she just shook her head hoping he meant what she thought it meant.
"Well maybe I can show you" he said and leaned in and Sophie's breath caught. But as his lips were about to brush hers, someone cleared there throat. Loudly.
Sophie stumbled back and looked expecting Grady to be behind her. No. Fitz. "What is going on here!" He demanded.
Sophie just stood there, certain she was bright red.
"I said, WHAT'S GOING ON HERE! He said raising his voice
"Hiya, Fitzy! Good to see you!"
Fitz scowled "don't 'hi Fitzy' me. You think you can just do that with my..." but Sophie interrupted before he could finish. "No. YOUR, nothing. You broke up with me, and we decided to be FRIENDS!"
"But..." Fitz tried again,
"No, 'but' Fitz. I can't do that again!, so just stop!" There was a moment of silence then Sophie added,
"I think it's best that I go, but I'm trusting you, Fitz, to not loose it. You don't want to do that to your best friend."
With that Sophie slipped out the door and lept away.
