Sophie's POV

When she was back in at Havenfield, Sophie went to sit under Calla's Panakes tree to clear her thoughts.

I need to figure this out. She thought to herself.

I know I like Keefe, and of course I like Fitz, I mean he's perfect! Who wouldnt want him? There was also the fact that he found me.

Which makes our relationship that much stronger.

There was a time when I had thought is was strongest.

The thought saddened her. So she pushed it to the back of her mind. Keefe is...amazing.

But I don't think I can handle being hurt again.

But he's kind and thoughtful and...

The more she thought about it, the more she noticed IT. All of it. All the looks, all the smiles, all the teasing. No. Not teasing. Flirting.

He had liked her for longer then she would have thought.

But hadn't he looked at her the same way just moments after they met?

Oh no. No, no, no, no, no, no, NO!

He's... He's liked me for... almost four years!?

Maybe I should just give him a chance, I mean, what's the worst that could happen?

But hadn't she liked fitz for that long?

So no. There's no way I could do that again.

It's to hard, and complicated, and that was without the extra weight of being unmatchable. Doesn't Keefe realize it would ruin his life? That I'D ruin his life?

She couldn't do that to him.

He was way to important to her.

She also didn't think she could handle it when he realized just how hard it would be.

Just the thought of him rejecting her was just to much to bare.

Maybe she could say it was a mistake and maybe...

She couldn't even finish the thought.

She couldn't reject him either, because if he felt anywhere close to the same way she did, it would just about break him.

She had just gotten him back. She wasn't going to lose him again.

Keefe's POV

She liked him back.

Oh it was a wonderful thought.

With a photographic memory, he, could still see perfectly, every line of her face, could still see perfectly, the way she looked at him like...like he was the only person in the world.

He wanted to catch the memory, and hold on to it. Shelter it, and never let it go.

"Duuuuuude! You look like a dolt with that derpy smile on your face." Ro interrupted his thoughts. "Stop thinking about your girlfriend. We still have to figure out what your mom's plan is, and how it includes you. Also if we find you have another ability, don't think about using it on me or I will kill you."

They got to work, first searching through his memories. trying to see maybe if somewhere in his past his mom had left a clue to tell him what his ability might be. No such luck. Besides every time he closed his eyes, he could see Foster looking at him, just as he was about to kiss her.

Sophie's POV

The next morning, Sophie had just finished getting dressed and ready when Grady came up with a disgruntled expression on his face. "Sophie, That boy, is here again." His scowl deepening as he said 'that boy.' "Ok! Please tell him I'll be down in just a sec!"

"Ok" he said in reply.

When Sophie opened her door to come down she somehow mustered up enough courage to steal a peek at Keefe.

He looks hot. She thought to herself, and then blushed and looked away, when she realized the way he was looking at her.

Like she was the only one in the room.

"Should you be here?" She questioned him.

"Look, you know I LOVE all that Foster worrying your sending me right now, but seriously don't worry. I'm fine.

He smiled at her.

A genuine smile, instead of his usual smirk. Like he was actually happy.

Which made her smile in return.

"Where's Ro? I thought she wasn't letting you out of her sight?"

"Oh Foster, Foster, Foster. You underestimate the power of Lord Hunkyhair!"

"Keefe, what did you do." She asked trying to sound exasperated but the soft smile was playing on her lips, said otherwise.

"Told her Bo was trying to show Sander how much better he is at fighting." He said his smirk returning, as soon as he started thinking about his prank. Well, she thought it was a prank, but Sander wasn't around. So. She didn't know what to think, But decided to ask even though she probably wasn't going to like the answer.

"So does the fact that Sander is actually gone, mean that it wasn't a complete lie?"

Why would he want Sander gone anyways?

"No. It wasn't a COMPLETE lie, because this morning I told Bo that Sander said he thought Ro was the better fighter."

"You are something else Keefe Sensen." She said still smiling.

Only then did she realize how close they had gotten. Her leaning over the railing, and keefe resting his elbows on it.

"Is that a good thing?" Keefe asked her with only a slight question in his voice.

"Definitely." She said decidedly, even though she still didn't know if she wanted to even dare to go into a relationship with Keefe. There was just to much risk.

So then why are you Flirting with him? Her mind asked her. She shoved the thought away even though the answer was ringing around in her head like an echo. Determined not to go away.

She cleared her throat, and continuing down the steps, and not stumbling until the last step, landing in Keefe's arms.

She mumbled an apology, and let Keefe lead her out to the Panakes tree.

When they had sat down, she couldn't help but remember all the times Fitz had been here with her. When he had given her the memory of them, the same time he gave her the teal necklace, she no longer wore

But the part that she hated the most was that this was the place where she and Fitz had broke up.

"Is something wrong?"Keefe interrupted her thoughts.

"Oh sorry, just lost in thought I guess." She said sadly.

There really was no use hiding her emotions, he could feel them anyways.

"This was where he...he broke up with you. Isn't it." He said with genuine concern for her. "I'm sorry I should have thought...we can go somewhere else if you want." He said when she her only response was to press her lips together and look at the ground.

"That'd be nice, thank you." She said simply. She really didn't want to talk about Fitz right now. Not when Keefe was here to see how much he had hurt her when he broken up with her. She knew now it was because she was unmatchable, and Fitz had decided she wasn't worth the scorn that would follow once everybody new. She really couldn't blame him for doing that. She was unmatchable, and that meant dealing with the consequences. How ever much hurt and rejection that went with it.

"I have an idea." Keefe said, breaking Sophie from her thoughts.

"I haven't brought many people here so I hope you'll keep it a secret."

He said, while pulling out a leaping crystal.

"Where are we going?" Sophie asked.

He was getting a mysterious look in his eye and she didn't know what to make of it.

"My place." He said.

She barely caught his smile before the light carried them away.

sorry! I know it's super trashy. I hate when my writing is like that. I've also not written anything but like a few essays cause I'm homeschooled. HOPE YOU ENJOYED THIS!
