Chapter 29

Hibiki paced in the forest, broken sunlight through the trees cast a small shine to his dark and vicious shadow. The inu servant was beyond livid. He had been humiliated and blamed for the human's mistake. "She is lower than the dirt beneath my feet and she is supposed to be my better? MY lady of the west?" Hibiki thought. "Well not for much longer." He spoke aloud. "I will find a way to rid our Lord of that disgusting wench and free him from her spell." The inu was interrupted from his scheming when an annoying girlish laugh filled his ears. Misaki, the eastern princess emerged from behind a tree clapping slowly and laughing idiotically. "You, a mere servant, think you can go behind Lord Sesshomaru's back?"
Hibiki began laughing as well, making the princess scowl. "You! You are a fool! You were beaten by a human, cast from these lands, disowned by your father and now you traipse around in a commoners yukata and cloak, a peasant. You dare laugh at me?" Spoke the demon as he chuckled darkly. "Hold your tongue!" Masaki screeched. "I let the human win, it is all a part of my plan, that you will aid me in." The cocky princess gloated. "And why, pray tell, would I help you?" Scoffed Hibiki. "Because I intend to kill the human bitch who stole MY Sesshomaru away from me with some sort of dark magic. After I kill her, I will become Lady of the Western lands. Maybe I will remember your kind deed and make you an officer of the court, instead of a lowly servant." Misaki said while examining her dirty nails. "Hm, I am listening." The inu demon spoke. "Good, you will cause a distraction, one large enough that it will bring everyone to it. Lord Sesshomaru will hide his weak human away in his rooms alone and I will sneak in and kill her." Misaki finished, thinking herself so clever. "I except." Hibiki spoke, then turned away but stopped after a few steps. In exactly one moon cycle you will return here. I will create the distraction at night so the human will be sure to stay put in the room alone." The dog finished then walked away. Misaki giggled, knowing after she killed the human she would tell her Sesshomaru, the servant was responsible. While Hibiki walked away he also thought treacherously. "Stupid wench, I will be sure to inform Sesshomaru who was responsible for the humans death, and they both will be gone from his life."
It has been almost a month since Kagome saw her pregnant friend. Anytime now she should receive her enchanted bird back and then she would get to meet her niece. She was so excited. Kagome rubbed her stomach affectionately now thinking of her own little ones. Her stomach had a noticeable bump now and she was only two months along. Inu pregnancies lasted about six to eight months depending on the power the mother held. They had no idea how long Kagome would be pregnant. She was powerful but also human and a miko, pregnant by a powerful inu. It has never been done before. Kagome didn't mind though she loved being pregnant.
She was currently sitting in her mate's study on a very large cushion. Her mate sat a few feet away reading scrolls. Kagome was also reading, her scrolls were of monthly status reports of each station in their household. It was still morning, breakfast recently over. Kagome felt fine one moment then the next her stomach turned. Kagome dropped her scroll and jumped to her feet. She barely made it to the trash bin before she emptied her stomach. Sesshomaru was by her side immediately and holding her hair. Kagome heaved and heaved, nothing but stomach acid was coming up at this point. Finally it stopped and Kagome sat back into her mate crying and trying to catch her breath. She hated puking. "Shh, it is over now." Her mate comforted her while he rubbed her back. Ami appeared next to her with a cloth and some water. Kagome's shaking hands accepted both but immediately gave them back after one sip. Leaning over the bin she vomited some more, a little stomach acid this time but mostly dry heaves. Once again, she leaned back when it stopped shivering and crying again. "I'm…I'm sorry. I hate throwing up." Kagome sniffed. "Do not apologize." Sesshomaru said holding his love. "Can I have the water?" Kagome asked a little hoarse, taking a very small sip when it was handed over. When she handed it back then wiped her mouth on the cloth, she snuggled into her mate. "I'm cold," she said. Sesshomaru lifted her into his arms. "Tell the healer my mate needs something for her nausea." He spoke to Ami, then took Kagome to their room.
Wrapping his mate in his moko moko then laying a sheet on top of her, he waited for Ami to return. The fox demoness entered the room moments later with a small jar of herbs, a teapot and yunomi. Ami quickly made the tea, then handed it to her Lady. Turning to Sesshomaru she retold what the healer said to pass on. "Genji Sama said milady is coming into her nausea state early for a demoness but according to some human pregnancies she has been studying it is not worrisome. This tea should help her." Ami finished then took the empty cup from her friend. Kagome laid back down and fell asleep almost instantly. "Come." Sesshomaru said to the servant in a low volume.
Kagome woke a few hours later feeling much better. She stretched, wrapped her fluffy around her and got up in search of her mate. She found him in his study. He looked up when she entered. "Are you well?" He asked. "Hn." Kagome said sleepily, climbing into her mate's lap. Sesshomaru chuckled and turned his mates back to his chest and rested his chin lightly on her head. Moko moko repositioned itself on her lap and Kagome caressed it absentmindedly. The couple sat quietly until Kagome gasped and grabbed her stomach.
"What is it? Is something wrong?" Sesshomaru asked with worry in his voice. "One of the pups kicked. Here." Kagome said happily, placing his hand on her stomach. A moment later, Sesshomaru felt it too. "Oof, they have a strong kick." Kagome said, rubbing the spot where she felt one of her sons kick. Sesshomaru placed his hand over her stomach again and growled softly. "Be gentle with your mother boys." He chastised.
Later in the afternoon Kagome laid on a pile of pillows within arms reach of Sesshomaru, sleeping. She was attached to him recently, more than usual. He believed it to be a combination of hormones and the pups seeking his yuki. A knock at his door told Sesshomaru someone wanted to speak with him. The Lord knew it was his friend and gave a quiet "enter." When the fox demon came in, a green barrier came up and surrounded his mate and pups. Sesshomaru noticed a shocked look on his friend's face before he turned to her. "This is my general, your mother is safe, pups." The young father reassured, touching his mate's belly and also growling lowly in comfort. The barrier dropped instantly, Kagome shifted slightly but didn't wake. After a few more moments of tending to his family, Sesshomaru looked back to his general.
"Speak quietly, I will not have you wake her." Sesshomaru said as he got back to reading the scroll in his hand. "Yes milord." Taiyo said softly, bowing slightly. "I have come to inform you of the other Lord's replies to the invitations on the announcement of your heirs being conceived," he said. "Hn, and?" Sesshomaru coaxed. "The Southern Lord and East Lord will arrive as scheduled, we have not yet received word on the Northern Lord." The general spoke. "Hn, thank you. Have Jaken make arrangements." Sesshomaru said, never looking up from his work. "Right away Lord Sesshomaru." The fox said. Before he left he turned back and asked. "Milord, may I speak freely?" Sesshomaru looked up at his friend. "Speak." The Lord said. "I have never seen or heard of such a case when an unborn pup is able to cast a barrier." The fox said as he watched his Lady sleep. Sesshomaru looked over at his mate. "They are indeed remarkable." The daiyoukai spoke proudly. "Good day, milord." The fox demon said and left.
Kagome woke with a start and looked toward the window. Sesshomaru was by her side immediately. "Are you well mate?" He asked. Kagome didn't answer, as she watched a paper bird fly through the open window and right to her now outstretched hand. Looking to her mate Kagome smiled and said, "Sango is ready to have her baby, we have to go." Kagome used her mates helping hand to stand up. "Ami!" Kagome yelled. The fox demoness came through the door to the study a moment later. "Yes milady?" she said. "Can you get my pouches and weapons and inform Rin we will not be able to make it to the evening meal but will be back as soon as we can?" Kagome asked. "Hai." Ami said then ran off to do as she was asked. Kagome only had to wait a few minutes before her friend returned with her pouches and weapons. Securing her things to her obi she then looked to her mate. "I'm ready," she said. Sesshomaru nodded and they walked together to the nearby courtyard. When Sesshomaru gathered his yuki below their feet they set off to the slayer village.
Touching down directly in front of Sango's hut Kagome ran to the door and opened it without knocking, while Sesshomaru stayed outside on guard. "Kagome! Thank the Kami." The worried soon to be father half yelled. "Hello Miroku, how is she doing?" Kagome asked just before she entered their bedroom. "Kagome!" Sango said between breaths. "Hey mama, how are you feeling?" Kagome asked with a smile. "I'm okay, it all came on so faaaaast!" Sango hissed as another contraction hit. Shippo held his mothers hand and looked on worriedly. "It's going to be okay. I want you to breathe okay. Slow and deep from the stomach okay?" Kagome said as she took things from her pouches. Placing the towels, bowls, scissors, herbs, and teapot on a table she turned to a frightened Miroku. "Hey there big guy, don't pass out on me okay? I need you to boil some water for me, okay? Can you do that? Take Shippo with you, this is no place for a child." The miko said. Miroku shook himself from his panic and nodded leaving the room with the full tea pot Kagome handed him and his son.
An hour later Kagome was looking over a screaming Sango again. "Okay mama, you're ready. Ten centimeters. It's time to push." Kagome said, smiling. Sango screamed as another contraction hit and began to push. "Oh god I'm never having sex again! Do you hear me monk?!" Sango yelled, pushing again. Kagome giggled. "Come on Sango you can do it! I see her head!" The miko said, placing another towel under her friend after wiping away some blood. Sango flopped back on her pile of pillows behind her. "Ugh she is too big, I can't do this!" Sango cried. "You can mama! You can!" Kagome reassured. "Come on a few more pushes, give me a big one ready? Three, two, one! Push!" Kagome yelled.
The Lord of West sat against a tree, knee bent and his arm resting atop it. A piercing cry of a newly born infant signaled that a new and separate life had begun. Sesshomaru looked over to a pacing monk, wondering if he too would be this frantic when his pups came into the world.
Kagome cheered as her friend finally birthed her baby. "She's here! You did it Sango!" Kagome said as she laid the new babe on her mothers chest while she cleaned up and removed everything below. Sango cried and laughed. "My sweet girl. Hello. Welcome to the world." The new mother cooed and cried. Kagome reached for the baby. "I'm just going to clean her up and check her out. Is that okay?" Sango nodded and leaned heavily into her pillows. Once Kagome cleaned the baby, mom and the bedroom she handed the baby back to her mother. "Here you go, back to mama little one." Kagome said. Taking a few minutes to instruct her friend on how to begin breastfeeding, she helped her along then both the women watched the new baby feed. The miko stepped out a few moments and came back with the new father and sibling. Miroku sat next to his wife cradling her and his daughter while Shippo sniffed then smiled at his new sister. "She's so little." Shippo said as he took hold of her tiny hand. "So my friends, what will you be naming this sweet baby?" Kagome asked. Both parents looked at each other then back to the baby. "We had talked about a few names. But only one sticks with me the most. She will be called Momoko." Sango said as she caressed her daughter's cheek. "I craved peaches my entire pregnancy. It is only fitting." Sango said. "It would seem she has a peach shaped face as well." Miroku added, laughing. Kagome smiled and watched the new family.
After Momoko finished eating, Kagome looked at her friends. "If it is alright with you two, I would like to bless my niece." Kagome asked. "We would be honored, Kagome Sama." Miroku spoke while Sango nodded and handed over her baby. Kagome took the small child and brought her tiny forehead to her own. The miko closed her eyes and pressed a kiss to the child's head. Both baby and miko glowed while Kagome chanted. Just as fast as it started it ended and Kagome gave the now sleeping baby back to her parents. "She will have a long, healthy, happy life. You will always have the aid of the west at your call. Should she ever need anything we are not far away." Kagome spoke with a smile. Both parents thanked Kagome profusely. "I also have a gift for my niece, well I guess more for the two of you but she will like it also." The young woman said as she dug into her pouch and pulled out three white cloths embroidered in pink along the edges. Handing them to her monk friend she told them what they were. "They are enchanted diapers. When she soils them, they will clean themselves right away. You won't have to change her because they will always be fresh. I've given you three just in case, though they will grow with her. I hope you like them." Kagome finished. "Oh Kagome, that's a wonderful gift." Sango said. Miroku stood and bowed deeply. "I thank you for all you have done for my family Lady Kagome." Miroku said. "Think nothing of it." Kagome spoke as she watched the baby sleep.
After an hour of visiting and instructions on aftercare passed along, Kagome gave the paper bird back to the small family, just in case of a problem, then made her way back outside to her mate. Kagome was tired. She had used a tiny bit of her miko power to clear Momko's lungs and it exhausted her, but she wouldn't tell anyone. Collapsing into her loves arms, Kagome sighed, happily. "They had a healthy baby girl. Her name is Momoko." The sleepy miko said.
Kagome yawned as she and her mate landed on the balcony of their room. It was getting late but Kagome wanted a bath before going to sleep. She stripped as she walked and her mate followed her. Stepping into the steaming water, Kagome sighed and rubbed her quickly swelling stomach. Her bump was very noticeable without any clothes on. Sesshomaru's arms wrapped around his mate. "You did well today, my little miko." He purred, as he kissed along her neck.

Kagome moaned when Sesshomaru licked and nipped her mating mark. The demon lord lifted Kagome out of the water and laid her on the bank. "Spread." He demanded as he slid his hands up her thighs. Kagome did as she was told, moaning and gasping as his tongue joined his hands on her skin. Once his lips met her mound his tongue slid through her folds slowly and found her sensitive pearl.
Sesshomaru made quick work of getting his mate to two orgasms and could feel her nearing her third. "Sess," Kagome panted. "I'm so close… again." Her mate smirked and worked her deeper and longer. "Come for me." He spoke smoothly, then relished in her screams.

Kagome washed herself and her mate with a smile on her face and heavy eyes. Sesshomaru dried both of them off, then picked her up and took her to bed.
The next morning Kagome woke up feeling cranky. Sesshomaru had to get up and go to a meeting and she had been up and down all night throwing up. Grumpily, she dressed, with the help of Ami. Her servant and friend just brought her tea for breakfast because she wasn't hungry, just nauseous. Kagome wandered toward her mate who was in his study. When she entered he was seated looking over scrolls. "Mate, are you feeling better this morning?" He asked as he set down his work. The grumpy miko stomped up to him and sat roughly in his lap. "No," she said. Sesshomaru chuckled and rubbed her back. "Are we surly?" Sesshomaru said with an evil smirk. Kagome growled, though it sounded feeble. "You are as fearsome as a kitten, my little koneko." Sesshomaru laughed and nuzzled her throat. Kagome giggled at the nickname and nuzzled him back, crankiness forgotten.
The moon, a vivid white, loomed large, surrounded by a spiritual glow. The traitor walked into the woods, thinking himself so clever. When he arrived in a small clearing, he cleared his throat to get the attention of the disgraceful demoness he knew to be hiding behind a tree. "Are you sure you can amount to a breach such as this?" Hibiki spoke, doubtfully. "You are a fool if you think I cannot kill one little human." Scoffed the eastern princess as she walked from around the tree. Misaki was dressed in a drab, brown cloak that made her blend into the darkness easily. "It is not just one you must slay anymore." the inu said, disgustedly. The princess gasped. "The whore is carrying?" she almost screamed. "She is and you must end both of their lives. I cannot allow that abomination to be our heir." The angry demon said. Pulling a dagger with a strange hilt on it from his cloak, he handed it to the demoness. "You will kill her with this, it is filled with poison, one that will kill a miko and any pathetic half breed she carries,"he said. Misaki unsheathed the blade and examined it. "I do not need any help from a poison to kill that human bitch." she said cockily. "You will use it! You have proven yourself unworthy in the past." Hibiki yelled, then turned away. Over his shoulder he spoke, "ready yourself, when I arrive back I will begin the distraction."
Sesshomaru awoke with a start to the sound of a small explosion and the smell of smoke. Looking over to his mate he found she still laid peacefully asleep. Getting up and dressing quickly he left his room only to be met with his general outside his doors. "Milord, there was a small bomb set off in one of the military cabins." Taiyo said in a low, serious voice. "Come." The angry Lord growled then swept past him. The fox general followed behind, pitying the person who would meet his Lord's wraith with this obvious trickery.
When Sesshomaru arrived at the charred remains of the building belonging to a group of his militia, he roared, "Who is responsible for this!?" Everyone froze, terrified they would be killed purely by his enraged aura. General Taiyo stepped up next to his Lord, being the only one brave enough to speak. "We know not who is responsible, only that it was deliberate," he said. Sesshomaru's mind was suddenly full of his mate's fear. Roaring once again, he sped off faster than light back to his chambers. "It was a trap! We should have known!" His beast roared in his head.
Kagome awoke to the feeling of her pups kicking frantically. Opening her eyes, the first thing she saw was the shadow of a cloaked person and the moonlight glinting off the steel of a blade hovering over her. Kagome screamed in fear and rolled out of the way before the blade could pierce her. The terrified woman realized she was inside a green barrier and when the stranger tried to stab her they were thrown backwards into a wall. Clutching her stomach protectively, Kagome screamed again at the sound of the door breaking open and her mate rushing in.
Sesshomaru burst into his room, terrified of the sound of his mate screaming. Looking around he found her on their bed inside a barrier. The angry daiyoukai stalked towards the groaning assassin on the floor. Sesshomaru grabbed the throat of who he now recognized to be the Eastern Princess and held her suspended in the air. "YOU DARE TRY TO KILL MY MATE?" the furious Lord roared. Misaki trembled and choked, trying to scream and breathe at the same time. "P-Please my lord, I was only trying to help your mate. The real assassin is the housekeeper." she cried. "You lie!" Sesshomaru yelled. Misaki's screams echoed off the walls as the Lord crushed her neck, severing her head from her body, both collapsing onto the floor.
Kagome leaned off the bed and emptied her stomach after witnessing the gory scene. Her mate was at her side quickly, his hand still sizzling as the acid burned the blood from his skin. Kagome cried and shook as she reached for her mate, but everything went dark before she could reach him.
