Chapter 31
Kagome heaved another breath as she was kicked in the ribs for the third time. She could feel them break with each impact, but she could do nothing to help herself. All her energy was going into making a weak barrier around her womb to protect her pups. The northern lord laughed maniacally. "It is a shame you must take the punishment meant for your mate but sadly this will hurt him far more than if he were in your place." The dragon sneered.
Kagome groaned as she tried to roll away from her abuser. "Ah ah." Mazoku tisked while he grabbed the mikos hair. "I'd like for you to stay right here. I intend to keep you until you birth those abominations." Kagome gasped. "Yes, yes I know it is shocking. But I have thought it over and I think I could grow to tolerate them. I will raise them to hate. To kill. They will be strong and do as I wish." The lord smirked. "Yes, I think I will like that very much. Of course I'll have no need for you anymore after. I may keep you to satisfy my needs for a while but most likely I will kill you soon after."
Tears streamed down Kagome's cheeks. She did not worry for herself at the moment. She only wanted her pups to be safe and she was terrified she may be going into labor or worse. Kagome bit her lip hard as a contraction hit her. Her eyes widened when she felt a rush of liquid spill out between her legs.
"What is this? Well it would seem my wait for my new slaves will not be long now." The northern dragon said with a devilish smile. Kagome whimpered as she willed her birthing process to stop and her mate to hurry to their aid.
Sesshomaru paced his study beyond furious, eyes so red the color reflected blood sinisterly. His general was the only demon brave enough to be in his presence in his current state of anger. "Milord, we will find her." Taiyo tried reassuring his friend. Sesshomaru growled. "She is being blocked from our connection. She does not possess her sai. I HAVE NO WAY OF LOCATING HER!" The dai roared, barely keeping a hold of his beast. "There has to be something. She has the power to interact with anything according to what Ami informed me, maybe she could somehow send word."- The fox demon was cut off by the enraged inu. "She is weakened, you imbecile! There is no way…" Sesshomaru yelled but froze as he thought of a paper bird his mate gave to the slayer. "Prepare my army and have Genji ready when I return." Sesshomaru ordered before he leapt out of his window and formed his yuki ball then soaring away.
Miroku shot up on his futon, meanwhile waking his wife in the process. "Houshi, what is it? A demon?" Sango said as she reached for her daughter, checking on her safety. "Lord Sesshomaru approaches. His anger is vast." Miroku replied while he dressed and went outside to meet the demon lord.
Lord Sesshomaru landed heavily in front of the hut of his mate's friends. "Monk, do you still possess the paper bird my mate gave you?" Sesshomaru growled. Miroku gulped in fear but nodded and ran as fast as he could to retrieve it. Sango stepped outside and met the eyes of her sister's mate and husband. "Sesshomaru Sama. Is Kagome alright?" Sango asked, afraid, already knowing the answer. "She was taken by the northern lord." Sesshomaru spoke as he took the bird from the panting monk. "I will send word when she is safe." That was all he said as he threw the bird into the air and flew after it as it frantically tried to get back to its creator.
Kagome panted and screamed at the pain in her stomach. She knew something was wrong and she was terrified. She could feel her sons kick and their aura filled with anxiety. The miko glared at her captor as he laughed at her pain. "My, my you are dramatic are you not." The dragon chuckled as he fiddled with her chains. As another contraction finished she reached down to see if she could feel any heads. When she pulled back her hand her fingers were coated in dark, fresh blood. Her face turned a ghost white. She prayed to the Kami's that her mate would get here quickly.
Sesshomaru weaved through trees at a breakneck speed as he followed the paper bird. He cared not as pointed branches tried to grab and cut him. He pushed himself faster making the enchanted bird match his speed. The demon lord was closing in on a large mountain, arriving at the base he did not slow down as he jumped from perch to perch and scaled the mountain side. His fear reached a new high as he smelled his mates blood. The scent was heavy and fresh. "Move faster." Sesshomaru's beast pressed.
Kagome cried out, tears streamed down her face as another painful contraction raked her body. When the demon lord stood and began walking towards her Kagome tried in vain to drag herself away from the terrifying demon. Mazoku kneeled down and painfully grabbed the mikos jaw, jerking her chin toward him and forcing her to look him in the eyes. "Well my dear it would seem your mate is coming to your rescue." He spoke. Kagome's eyes widened with hope. "Tut tut, do not go and get excited. He will have to be quick, my pets are hungry and they have no qualms in ripping your pups from you and eating the rest, but don't worry I'll kill your mate soon so you'll be together again in the afterlife." The lord chuckled darkly as he snapped his fingers then disappeared into the shadows. From the dark corners of the cavern came shuffling and the sounds of slobbering and growling. Disgusting and deformed dragon creatures appeared, surrounding her. Kagome screamed in terror.
Sesshomaru was suddenly able to feel the connection to his mate. Immense fear and pain stuck him like a boulder dropped on his chest. This was nothing compared to the horrific scream that pierced the air.
Sesshomaru roared as he dove into the shallow cave and minced the deformed creatures that dared to harm his mate. Once the threat was eliminated the inu lord rushed to his screaming mate.
Crying and whimpering in pain, Kagome did her best to cling to her mate, so relieved he came in time to save their pups. "Sess, our pups. Their coming, but something is wrong"- Kagome cried but was interrupted by another contraction.
Sesshomaru scooped up his mate and formed his yuki around them as he soared off toward his home and healer. His mate screamed and cried the entire time and the inu growled, feeling helpless. The lord flared his aura as he approached calling to his healer and his mate's maid. When he landed on the balcony of his chambers they awaited him by his bed.
"Please lay her down so I may help." Genji pleaded as Sesshomaru and his beast struggled to release his mate. Only a few seconds passed as he made his decision and relinquished his mate and pups. "You will save them." Sesshomaru growled. "I will do everything in my power." The healer said over Kagome's screams. Sesshomaru backed away but never took his eyes away from the woman he loved. He was terrified.
Hours had passed and Kagome still had not birthed her sons. She had lost so much blood, she was so weak. Her pups were distressed and they would not hold out much longer. Kagome looked at the two demoness' that aided her. "You must cut them out. Please they will not survive much more of this." Kagome pleaded. "Milady you will not survive that. You have lost so much blood. Your body cannot take much more trauma." The healer said with so much concern. "I do not care what happens to me, save my pups Genji or I will never forgive you. Do it now." Kagome commanded. Sesshomaru growled and was about to intervene when Kagome's eyes flashed white. In seconds she had grabbed a blade and dragged it across her stomach. Both demoness' screamed but went to work to try and save all three lives.
Minutes later two small cries rang out into the room. Sesshomaru held his mate's hand while he looked at his son's and the fox who held them. "They are healthy and safe, milord." Ami said as she quickly tried to clean them and completely clear their lungs. Sesshomaru growled at Genji as he felt his mate slipping from him, her heart rate slowed every second. "SAVE HER!" Sesshomaru roared. Genji ignored the furious lord as she worked to sow her friend and Lady back together.
Kagome weakly turned her head and smiled at her mate. "Our boys are healthy, mate, I'm so glad." She said barely above a whisper.
Thump. Thump. Thump.
Sesshomaru kissed his mate's sweaty forehead. "You will not die mate. I forbid it." Her love commanded. Tears streamed down his face. He cared not who saw. Kagome smiled and with a shaky hand lifted her fingers to caress her mate's cheek and wipe away the tears. Sesshomaru grabbed it and brought it to his lips, not caring that they both were covered in blood.
Thump. Thump.
"My love. My mate. I will be with you always. I will hold you forever even in death." Kagome said as she coughed up blood.
Thump.
Nothing.
Silence.
ROAR.
"NOOO!" Sesshomaru bellowed.
Both demoness' cried as they held the heirs of the fallen Lady. The pups wailed. Then lifted from the arms that held them. Sesshomaru sat up from his mate, he heard the cries from his pups then the power that surged from them. They formed barriers around themselves and flew to his arms. When they landed they growled in inu language. "Save mother. Help save mother." They said, Sesshomaru's eyes widened as his pup's eyes glowed white. He laid them atop Kagome's exposed breast, never taking his hands from them.
Purple power burst from the little family.
Thump.
Sesshomaru's eyes widened a fraction more as he realized his pups were seeking his yuki to help revive his mate and their mother.
Thump. Thump.
The lord poured his yuki into his mate.
Thump. Thump. Thump.
White burst from his mate as Sesshomaru jumped back from her with his pups in his arms. Everyone in the room watched in shock as the light faded away and Kagome's body stitched together and color came back to her skin.
"Sess?" Kagome asked tiredly. Rushing to his mates side he wrapped his pups in his moko moko then lifted his now healed but drained mate into his lap.
"You will never do that again!" Sesshomaru ordered as he buried his face in Kagome's neck. She hugged him back and smiled. "I will try my love, I'm sorry I worried you." She spoke with devotion. "Sessho, my pups?" Kagome giggled a moment later. Sesshomaru pulled away slightly and gently laid his bundle into their mothers arms.
Kagome's eyes filled with tears of happiness as she looked at her sons. "My pups." She said as she nuzzled each. She giggled when they both growled. It was so tiny and cute. She leaned back into her mate and sighed while Sesshomaru held them both tightly.
