Chapter 13

'On The Run'

'Morning couldn't have come sooner.' Kagome thought, for her body needed all the heat it could get due to Hiei's and the cubs yoki kept prodding her insides. It felt like icicles being formed on the inside of her body causing her to wince every now and then. She's been on the run for six days straight, only taking breaks when she felt faint or when she heard Hiei or the cub cry out. Of course she took the time to tend to bodily functions, feed and take a nap. She'd repeat this process many times until she was close to Tenbun Oka.

Kagome was at least a day from reaching the northern village so she looked for the best spot then dropped down from her slide that automatically melted back to snow. Using her aura and yoki the snow melted where she wanted it leaving enough space to maneuver around without falling over herself. Once she relieved herself she cover the hold with snow now it was feeding time then diaper changing and a wipe down no sense of the babes getting some kind of virus for being dirty.

It didn't take long Kagome to fall asleep her dreams of playing tag with Shippo and Rin. Another dream of Shippo yelling at Inu Yasha for making her mad then trapping him under his jizo statue. Another dream that seemed more than a dream of Shippo calling out her name and she waves at him calling him to her when he transforms back to himself he sails down towards her laughing as she reaches out to catch Shippo calling his name when like clock work Yuki woke her up from her two and a half hours nap.

Startled awake Kagome looked around the camp for Shippo not seeing him knew she was just dreaming of him. Getting refreshed, tending to the babes feeding them disposing the waste in the hole burying it. Feeling good she looked around her using her senses far and wide finding no threat. Knowing this she released her barrier then jumped in the air calling the snow drift to cover the temporary camp landing on a tree branch she made sure the area showed no signs of anyone having been camped there before turning as she jumped from the tree branch running across another keeping a steady pace as she enjoyed the afternoon run.

As time pass Kagome's mind becsme a constant whirl of what if's and even more questions about what she and Yuki could do or was able to do now that they were one. She had so many things to talk to Yuki about that Kagome just didn't know which topic to begin with. A conversation that was long over due. So she just asked.

'How should I interact with you? I know your part of my soul, you said that you're like an avatar or beast? I know what they are. So are you like the beast as in yokai big teeth and ruby colored eyes? Do, I have to be worried. I won't turn into some kind of monster will I?' Yuki knew these were serious questions, yet the way Kagome thought the words the images followed causing her to bark out a laugh so loud and couldn't control herself.

It was too funny, to the point Kagome realized that her own questions about the two of them drew up comical images her turning into a mountainous troll welding a bow while drooling over her friends as if they were lunch, made her laugh as well. She couldn't believe some of the things her mind makes up, she also knew her mind is on auto pilot just speaking of everything and anything when it wants to without thought. Then again this is who she is. Not too much of a worry wort, but a person thinking about everyone and the consequences of things being said or done which makes her worry for them more than for herself until she gets kidnapped.

No, you will stop right there with that line of thought. The Yuki called out stopping Kagome from thinking more into mindless thoughts. The shock of hearing Yuki made Kagome miss a step falling off the branch. Catching herself she maneuvered herself to using her ice slide moving along the ground until she came to a stop to catch her breath and keep her heart in her chest and not in her throat.

For your information Ka-go-me... We will NOT turn into a monster. I am the picture of you as an avatar, as a beast being yokai, I am the primal instinctual side of us still resembling the picture of you with pointed ears, teeth and claws. I do not know if we have a true form or not Kagome it is too soon to tell. We do not have the power or jaki to spare to even try to transform. Kagome was listening as Yuki spoke to her.

Mind you, that we as yokai our senses are heightened greatly, we see, hear, smell, taste and have a very acute sixth sense. We have an aura that can suppress others and power to back it up. Kagome agreed with what she said so Yuki made sure she understood what she was saying before she continued speaking.

Using our reiryokuand yoki we can take down a Tai-yokai however, trying to take down a Dai-yokai as we are now is near impossible for they are much stronger than us. However, given time perhaps one day we can. Kagome looked on in thought at Yuki's statement. Her other half is strong no doubt and between the both of them they could get even stronger with training.

Being a warrior miko you can purify or even zap anyone with your reiryoku.

'To bad it doesn't work on humans.' A chortle was heard. Surprised at the sound Kagome asked what was so funny and when Yuki explained further. Kagome gave a huge grin.

Indeed you just need to train your reiryoku and with my help you will acomplish what needs to be done.Kagome inwardly smiled happy that she has someone on her side err inside which made her snort when Yuki spoke again Kagome listened further about what she could do with training.

You will be able to purify the evil aura of a person, with an evil heart. No, they do not turn to dust like yokai. It is like the evil being wiped clean from the vile influence. Kagome smiled at that one. With how much she attracts trouble or gets kidnapped being able to do such a thing will help her she'd just have to practice on those she finds without them knowing.

As I have stated before. As of now, we cannot transform for we are newly born therefore have years of learning and training to go through to understand who and what we can do together. Perhaps then the Kami would allow us to transform into whatever we wish to be. Imagine a five story Kagome wrecking havoc in the feudal era or a dinosaur like T-Rex, or a phoenix, hell we could become inu like that stuck up dog. Hearing this made Kagome laugh, it was something she needed to relieve some of the stress. It was a good hearty laugh that lasted about a minute. Then she smiled understanding what Yuki meant.

'Oh thank you for that. I needed a good laugh. Okay another question is why is it that we have powers of ice and heat? Does that mean I can control fire or learn too?' That was a logical question and Yuki explained what she could at this time to ease Kagome's mind.

As for having powers of ice it was the first thought we came up with. As for the heat, yes I believe we can control fire as well. Melting the snow banks when we camped with Toran taught us that. Perhaps we are elemental? It would explain most of what we could do! Kagome blinked missing a step as she ran righting herself before she fell.

'Oh wow, that is a lot to think about... So the yoki, is a part of me just like reiryoku and chi. So they can work together rather than opposing. Its no wonder using them comes so naturally. Lately I haven't thought how to use them, I just did. Its a part of me so using them as I do comes natural to me. Is that right Yuki?'

It does however, we shall learn more about ourselves as time progresses, for now let this one give you facts you should be aware of should this one to come to the forefront of our mind. Kagome gave a questioning look of wonder what else she had to get used to.

I am your other half as you are aware. If there is anything that would cause a deep need, anger or danger to us it would call on our beast to aid in the fight to rid of the one or ones harming us or those we protect. Once the threat is eliminated we regain control. Think of it this way, its a boost our body needs when its a fight that calls for more help than we have. This is one way our beast will help in the future.

Kagome was surprised but when she actually thought about it, it did make sense so she thanked Yuki for being up front. Kagome thought over everything they discussed and to be honest with herself she was okay with all the changes that's happened to her because she was still herself the only person she wanted to be. Meanwhile, Yuki decided small talk was needed to pass the time and she found the perfect topic. Kagome's first time at breastfeeding. The red stain that spread upon Kagome's face, neck and chest said it all. She was embarrassed, and she let Yuki know as they recapped what happened.

Let's just say Kagome had a hard time at first would be an understatement, for she's a new mother never having nursed a child let alone try to make a little cub lap down the water she dripped onto its mouth in hopes to keep it alive. Yuki gave her vital information using instincts alone on how to feed the babe and the cub using some of her breast milk mixed with fresh raw meat grounded into a fine meaty powder with a touch of her breast milk.

Yuki told her that her milk is not an adequate source of nutrition for the little cub however, the mixture would give enough nutrients for the cub to survive until proper milk was obtained. Yuki gave a female grunt while Kagome sighed. She still had a lot of knowledge to obtain for being a new mother. Yuki kept her senses open for threats as Kagome continued to run or slide. She knew if Kagome continued she would collapse from exhaustion. Kagome was so tired she never noticed when she began falling from the ice slide. Her mind short circuited going to sleep leaving Yuki to take charge until she awoke.

Taking a long jump, Yuki soared in the air basking in the thrill of the cold wind blowing in her face. After running for over an hour she located the perfect spot to stop as she maneuvered their body to the hidden location off the beaten trek so she could tend to the needs of the young and herself. Being downwind she put the barrier in place to prevent sound or scent being detected; this was something she had been teaching Kagome only to find out she was an apt learner, always willing to take everything to the next level.

Dusting the snow from the downed tree Yuki removed the pack and bulk of the gear she wore so she could find a spot to relieve herself. Using snow to wash her hands she quickly blew them to get them warm and dry. When she was done an odd smell hit her nose. Ugh! From the smell of things Yuki wanted to wake Kagome so she could tend to the care of both babes bodily matters. Now wanting to wake Kagome up and needing Kagome to wake up were two different things altogether. Kagome was a conundrum when it came to her sleeping.

She looked meek as a rabbit but in truth she is a rabid wolf when woken the wrong way. Yuki knew her rational side well enough. There is no fear, as she attempted to wake Kagome. In their minds eye Kagome is snoring and drooling a pile spit onto her right side of the cloak. She assumed Kagome would awaken on the second call but after five nudges and shaking her mental form did Yuki realize that Kagome is exhausted physically and mentally. Taking that into account Yuki must do what she would not want to do.

Diaper duty!

Changing Hiei had been something Yuki would have thought easy until the smell hit her nose hard. Cringe and eye watering worthy, the smell had not been the only thing to give her trouble. Hiei's waste refused to be removed from the diaper. No it clung true and with pieces of the leaf hanging from it as she tried to shake it free. Even that did not work, Yuki had no clue as to how Kagome got the waste off the cloth and she was not about to touch it with her claws so she set it to the side. Now that Hiei's diaper had been changed she set him in the sling covering him up so she could tend to the little cub.

Digging a deep hole Yuki placed the soiled diaper, waste and leaves she used into the hole before sprinkling it with a powder to hide the smell. With the wave of her hand snow drifted scattering of leaves over the area ensuring the hole was never there. Yuki never noticed the smile on her face as she cleaned the small bowl before slipping it into Kagome's shoulder pack. Taking her time Yuki allowed her hearing and senses to expand the distance. Nothing out of the ordinary just the life of the forest that was good.

Yuki gathered Kagome's things strapping them over the furs before pulling the cloak on. She would give Kagome a few more hours of sleep before trying to wake her again. With that thought Yuki looked around making sure that no sign or scent of her indicated she had been resting here. With a flick of her hand as she jumped into the air a snow drift covered the vary spot she sat at erasing anything detectable before bounding off back down the mountain. Yuki had changed and fed the babes three more times before Kagome finally awoken from her much needed slumber.

Yuki waited for Kagome to take the forefront of their mind before informing her that due to exhaustion she took over before they could fall. Yuki asked Kagome how she cleaned the feces that stuck to the diaper. Kagome told how she removed the feces from Hiei's diaper. Yuki blinked then blinked again then Kagome explained it to her again. Freeze the feces on the diaper then use a stick to pry off then drop the waste into the dug hole to bury. It was simple. She heard Yuki snort.

With The Gang.

Sango stirred the stew as she was listening to Miroku and Shippo who were animatedly telling Inu Yasha jokes. They only seen their so called alpha once in the time Kagome disappeared. Sango truly misses her friend and dare she say it hoped she'd return soon. She feared Kagome had bitten off more than she could chew. The girl from the future happened to be accident and kidnap prone. She prayed every day that the Kami look out for her and keep her safe. Miroku wiped his eyes from the tears that leaked from his eyes. Shippo was becoming a great comedian as Kagome had called it. Shippo's chest puffed up in pride. He was getting good at telling jokes, well those about Inu Yasha were always a hit.

"Hey Sango the stew almost done? I'm hungry." The kit rubbed his belly in a dramatic gesture before it rumbled signaling it was empty. Shippo turned red from embarrassment but smiled.

"Almost done, guys. Shippo get the bowls and spoons out." Miroku moved over to the fire looking into the pot seeing that the stew was almost done before sitting down.

"Kagome is fine, my dearest Sango. I know you are worried about her but she is with Toran and I'm sure if something happened to her we would know about it. A blood oath is not taken lightly in the eyes of yokai." Sango looked at him with a shy smile they have grown closer since Kagome and Inu Yasha left.

"I hear you monk, but I have this feeling she won't return to us." That caught Shippo's attention. He pretended to still be looking for the bowls in the backpack listening in on the adults talk. Miroku looked to the far side of camp seeing Shippo digging into Kagome's bag making sure he had not heard what Sango said before answering.

"Sango what makes you feel this." Miroku asked softly not wanting to alert Shippo.

Thinking on the feeling Sango delved deep within her heart listening to her own fears and a sorrowful promise as if it were being whispered to her letting her know of what was to come. When Sango explained the feeling to Miroku he too acknowledged a similar feeling however, it was not of harm or death that would keep her away it was something to do with the baby she was to save. Both stopped talking looking over to where Shippo was climbing out of the bag shouting that he found them then scampered over to them with the bowls and spoons none the wiser of what he heard.

"Thanks Shippo." Sango handed him his portion of the stew then dished theirs everyone ate in silence before Shippo burped causing them to laugh.

It broke the tension in the camp allowing Shippo to entertain them with a game of charades using his fox fire. It was not long after everyone set to sleep. Using Kagome's sleeping bag and the blankets they had. Once Sango and Miroku were asleep Shippo took Kagome's paper and wrote a short letter to Sango and Miroku.

Shippo's letter.

Sorry Sango, Miroku I left to find Kagome. I heard you speaking about the feeling you both got. I have them also however, mines are telling me to go to her, that she needs me with her because she won't be able to return for a while.

I was the one to tell her to go, and I will be the one to find her. Don't blame yourselves or worry about me I'm a kitsune after all. Believe in me, I will find Kagome. When I do I will send a leaf with my acorn. Be safe and keep the pervert in line.

Shippo.

End letter:

Folding the paper in half he placed it under Sango's hand. Silently he asked Kirara to help him get far enough away from camp so he could make his way to find his mother like figure. Kirara understood and they slipped out of camp without a sound. When they were far enough from camp Kirara transformed taking Shippo in the direction his heart led him. About an hour in flight Shippo told Kirara this was far enough. Once she landed he told her she had go back to Sango and Miroku because they would need her. Mewing and nuzzling him Kirara flew back to camp. Shippo jumped into the air and transformed into a bird following his heart hoping to get to Kagome before something happened.

With Inu Yasha

"NO! Listen Kikyo... I only need and want you, can't you see that!" With that Inu Yasha pulls Kikyo to him; she looks up at him, his honeyed eyes shown the love and need that she also felt once. Then Kikyo made the hardest decision after being brought back from the dead. Inu Yasha didn't wait for her to speak so he took the initiative kissing her with all he was.

"Kikyo be mine. I don't care what others think. Tell me you want me!" He whispered to her.

Kikyo looked up at Inu Yasha his eyes are always what did her in when she was alive allowing him to take control whenever he wanted. Even now... She made her choice and hoped that he would understand one day why she'd have to do what she did. For the meantime she kissed him for all that her last life had been, as if she were starved for his touch. She couldn't tell him she didn't want him because she did. This could only last for so long before the Kami released her soul from this tainted shell.

Okay not the best of chapters, but we got to what was going on with the group. Hope you enjoyed it. I'm working on the next chapter as this is being posted. This is actually half of what was intended and kind of took longer to edit so I clipped it short. Anyway, reviews are welcomed helps encourage this one to write.
