Pirate World, on an uninhabited island in New World.
On the beach, Marcus exclaimed excitedly, "Finally, it's finally made!"
In his hands lay a rather simple radar.
Do not look down on it, this may look like a simple thing but it's the same kind of radar as the one that exists in the Dragon Ball world!
The dragon radar from the world of Dragon Ball was an invention that allows people to find the dragon balls from a large distance, but this radar was slightly different.
"There is a devil fruit two hundred kilometers to my right, huh." Markus said in curiosity.
Yes, this was not a 'dragon radar' but a 'devil radar'. It had the incredible ability to locate any devil fruit that exists within a five hundred kilometers radius around it.
With this, one would never need to wander around aimlessly in search of devil fruits and depend on luck to find them. However-
"A full year." Marcus was very emotional.
He wants to say something now: Do you know how I came here in the past three months?
A full year ago, Marcus was a regular guy. He never got into a fight, liked video games, and worked in a simple restaurant downtown to pay the bills while going through college online. After getting drunk at a party his only friend threw for the heck of it, Marcus opened his eyes and came to this world of One Piece.
Like many traversers, he also obtained the standard gift of the traverser. No, it wasn't some power or ability directly, he instead got the Celestial Forge.
Yes, that Celestial Forge that can almost ensure one can become an overpowered powerhouse, but his was... nerfed a bit? It basically adapted itself to the world of One Piece seemlesly, all technologies and such were adapted perfectly to the world and the Forge would not give him any item directly, instead only ever give him information on how to build things and perks unrelated to direct objects. It basically would not just give him complete items or his own dimension, but just help him build the items he would need to build. It may not sound that good, but it came with its perks in this adaptation as shown by the item in his hand.
The Devil Radar was his second big technology he made in his time on this world with his first being the weapon on his back.
In truth, Marcus was rather unfortunate. He traveled to this uninhabited island that felt almost like a cage. He is bound here in this place where no one visits, the only good part is that this island is rich in resources and there are not too many beasts. Sure, the weapon he made was certainly useful in this past year and saved him many, many times, but he would rather if he just had a way to get out of this island already. The seas around were far too chaotic for him to travel and despite being able to produce extremely powerful technology, Marcus still had not a single clue on how he could get out of here.
In the end, using what resources there were on the uninhabited island, plus the materials from some shipwrecks that were around, Marcus in this past year was only able to make these two completed projects.
Suddenly, he felt a new connection from the forge.
"Maybe this can help me." Marcus said excitedly as the new connection was formed.
Gero Expy (Dragon Ball) (200): At least you don't need to have a beard. You're a brilliant scientist, an equal to the infamous Dr. Gero, after he had a bunch of years in HFIL to study more. While you're a genius in just about every field of science on Earth, robotics is where you really shine. Creating Androids and Robots capable of destroying planets or even stars, along with having a huge variety of strange abilities and weird appearances. You're even pretty good about remembering to program them to not kill you, already making you superior to the late Dr. Gero. You're also excellent at working with other scientists, combining your proficiencies and knowledge to create significantly greater creations than either of you could manage alone.
Excitement filled Marcus's mind, Dr. Gero was undoubtedly a brilliant scientist. Probably amongst the best scientists in the world of Dragon Ball, if not THE greatest one.
If Marcus could use Gero's knowledge to at least be able to make some flying apparatus, he should be able to move away from this island and into the wider world!
As the connection was made and Gero's brilliance entered your mind you only had a single reaction to it.
"... Fuck."
Immediately, Marcus was disillusioned, because the knowledge of Gero was entirely and utterly useless for Marcus right now on a fundamental level based on the current lack of materials. There was a lot of knowledge on cybernetics and how to make androids as well as weapons and whatnot, but they all demanded programming and precise tools, and rare materials.
None of which he could get or do on a remote island in the middle of fucking nowhere.
Marcus let out a long sigh and felt confused about his future life. Could it be that he came here from time to time and can only spend the rest of his life on this small island? Or was this the world mocking him and saying he can get out as soon as he becomes as strong as Rayleigh to go swimming through the oceans?
Just when Marcus was a little dejected, there was a loud "bang rumbling" sound in the sky, as if a behemoth fell from the sky.
Marcus was startled, and suddenly he looked up and saw a huge figure falling from the sky, the speed was extremely fast, and it landed on this small island in the blink of an eye.
The huge impact set off a wave of air, and the ground where it fell was torn apart immediately, smoke and dust were everywhere, and the entire island trembled. The birds in the deep forest were frightened and flew up.
The terrifying air wave swept in every which direction and almost knocked Marcus to the ground. Fortunately, the distance was far away, and there was no explosion that would make him to suffer too much damage.
In the smoke and dust ahead, a huge black figure can be vaguely seen standing up slowly. He lowered his voice, as if suppressing his anger, and was extremely dissatisfied
"It's really irritating, I couldn't die again. This is really boring!"
As if sensing someone's presence not far away, a pair of cold flames in the smoke looked directly at Marcus.
Marcus felt a chill in his heart as he understood what was going on. He was still a most ordinary person. Sure, in these three months he has tried to start exercising a lot more and his weapon was quite great, but he knew that he had absolutely no hope against the thing in front of him.
He already knew who the monster in the distance was, one of the top tyrants in this world's pyramid, "the strongest creature" Kaidou.
This bad luck was simply too outrageous, right? The place where one of the Yonko just committed suicide and jumped off turned out to be this island. This suicidal madman was an absurdly dangerous beast, and that he jumped here could only be said to be a terrible fact.
This 'strongest creature' was an extremely brutal individual. Knowing what Kaidou could do Marcus naturally planned to run away.
However, Kaidou had already noticed him. With his low, beast-like voice, the strongest beast spoke up.
"Little devil, are you from the CP organization? Are you waiting for me on this island?"
'It's over!' Marcus groaned badly in his heart, cursing his bad luck once again.
Running away now was completely unrealistic. Although the distance between the two is very long, but for a strong person like Kaidou, it is not a problem at all.
Marcus gritted his teeth, but his sense of crisis made his brain clear to the extreme. Several scenarios rolled through his mind as he wondered what he could do, until he reached a conclusion. The only one that just might save his life.
He turned slowly, his thoughts continued, and by the time he turned to face Kaidou, he had a plan in his mind.
Marcus looked at Kaidou and said.
"What is CP? I don't know anything about it, I'm just a scientist."
This is Marcus's choice after thinking about Kaidou's character. Kaidou, as an excellent "business manager", is probably the Yonko most interested in talents of all sorts and looks for talent above everything else. That is why the Beasts Pirates has implemented a challenge promotion system instead of having its internal structure centered on blood ties, friendship, or anything like that. As long as it can bring greater benefits to Kaidou, then it will be able to sit high in the Beasts Pirates.
Now Marcus is just an ordinary person. If he wants to fight, he has no fighting ability, and if he says nothing, Kaidou is likely to kill him just to relieve his irritation a bit. His only hope is his Celestial Forge, the trump card in his hand.
So, Marcus finally decided to tell Kaidou that he was a scientist.
On the opposite side, Kaidou in the smoke has come out of the smoke, his huge body is like a moving mountain in Marcus's eyes, as if every step he takes can make the ground tremble.
No, the ground actually trembles as this man walks.
"Scientist?" Kaidou murmured as he walked.
Marcus nodded hurriedly, and then showed Kaidou the [Devil Radar] he had just made in his hand.
"That's right! I'm a scientist, and this is one of my inventions."
When he spoke, he forced himself to be calm and not to show fear. He had to show Kaidou his confidence so that he would not just throw him around as he pleases, and showcase his own value and natural 'arrogance. He was a super scientist, he didn't need to bow down in front of others, even if the person in front of him was Kaidou of the Beasts.
Kaidou had already come to Marcus, and the aura he exuded made the air around him freeze, making people just feel suffocated.
The more this happened, the more Marcus's adrenaline surged, and his thinking became clearer, and there was no fear on his face.
Kaidou gave Marcus a condescending look with a noncommittal expression, and then his eyes turned to the radar lying in Marcus's hands.
The radar is very small in Marcus's hands, and even smaller for this strongest creature.
Kaidou's eyes couldn't help but pick up slightly, then his face turned horizontal, and his tone was angry:
"Little devil, do you think of me as a fool? What can this little thing even do?"
"Simple." Marcus then lightly threw the radar to Kaidou who took it in his hands. "This thing can detect any devil fruit within a radius of 500 kilometers, I call it the Devil Radar."
Kaidou looked condescendingly at Marcus and snorted.
"You expect me to believe such stupidity? There is no such radar in the world!"
"There WAS no such radar in the world before. I invented it, simple as that." Marcus said, making Kaidou look dubiously at Marcus.
He stared at Marcus for a good while before-
"Worororo, interesting." Kaidou's face turned into a nearly predatorial smile as he looked at the radar. "How do I use it?"
"That is simple. There are only two buttons on it, the one to the right controls the area of search, the settings are one kilometer, thirty kilometers, and five hundred kilometers. By clicking the button you can change the settings so you may find the distance and the general location of the devil fruit. This radar is still a prototype, in the future I should be able to improve the settings as well as increase the range of scouting. The second button is simpler, it just turns on and off the radar."
Kaidou played with it for a bit before nodding, this was quite a nice thing, even if he was not convinced yet.
"Very well. We will go check if this is true, if you are lying I will definitely kill you." Kaidou threatened as his body started to change.
Soon Kaidou turned into a huge blue dragon and stood in front of Marcus. The latter couldn't hide his shock, him who came to this world by some mysterious power, can be said to be a layman in how things work in this world after everything became reality.
This was the first time Marcus saw a Devil Fruit's ability and it as a mythical zoan with a huge physical impact like this.
Kaidou's blue dragon form let out a thunderous roar that made the earth tremble, he was a bit satisfied that Marcus was shocked to see his blue dragon form. Kaidou was not in the best of moods, but showing off did make him feel a bit better right now.
Without a care about Marcus's thoughts, a huge draconic claw swept in Marcus's direction and captured him. Thankfully it did not hold too tight so Marcus was not hurt as Kaidou took off in the direction the radar pointed to.
It took a little over forty minutes before they arrived at their destination, a simple uninhabited island with little to nothing to it. Going to the ground, Kaidou returned to his human form and put Marcus on the ground.
"Wait here. If you try to run, I will kill you." Kaidou said and then looked at the radar before darting away at surprising speeds for someone his size.
Marcus didn't worry, he knew the radar worked since otherwise, the Forge wouldn't acknowledge he did the work right, even if at the lowest level. Give him some time and more materials, he would truly be able to make better radars and such.
It took only about a minute or so for Kaidou to return, his face showing a wide smile as he held a green banana with weird symbols throughout.
Kaidou couldn't help looking at Marcus when he returned, and the deterrent and pressure the Yonko exuded before vanished entirely, all replaced by the joy in his heart.
Now, in Kaidou's eyes, Marcus in front of him is a huge treasure. If this scientist joins the Beasts Pirates, then their power would certainly skyrocket as they would be able to increase the number of fruit users exponentially.
What world government? What Whitebeard? They will all have to bow down to Kaidou and his supreme army!
Kaidou could already see the future where the war he envisions would happen and the world would be swept by it! A new world order with Kaidou at the top!
Naturally, now that he saw what Marcus could do he won't let this 'hot potato' go.
Bursting out laughing, Kaidou spoke up.
"Worororo... kid, your invention is really amazing! Tell me, what's your name?"
When Marcus heard the words, he was also overjoyed inside. He knew that the value he showed had won Kaidou's favor, as can be seen from the arrogant and strongest creature asking his name.
'I can finally get out of this ghost place! Civilization, social life, girls!' Marcus thought in happiness inside, anxious over the prospects moving forward.
Speaking of joining Beasts Pirates, wouldn't it be possible to meet Ulti and Yamato? The two were extremely hot, if he could take either or both to bed it would certainly not be anything he would complain about.
"I am Marcus. Marcus D. Hokusai, the greatest genius this world has ever seen." Marcus said. In truth, he was no member of the D. family, but he did not care. No one would be able to check his genealogy anyway, and it sounded cooler to call himself a 'D.', especially if it would make the Celestial Dragons fearful. As for the last name being Hokusai, that was a joke as I quite liked the Taimaninverse and, if I am going to become a lawless pirate, then I ought to be able to do whatever the fuck I want.
I want to be a real pirate, not an explorer hero who says he is a pirate, like the Strawhats.
Kaidou smirked as he said.
"I appreciate your ability, would you like to join my Beast Pirates?"
Marcus was not in a hurry to reply. Now that he has shown his worth, it is time to fight for his own interests.
Marcus doesn't want Kaidou to just get everything for basically free just like that, if Marcus would accept joining with the Beast Pirates then he would demand the right conditions. He has to show his attitude from the beginning or who knows what this grumpy boss might do later.
Of course, Marcus was neither humble nor arrogant as he answered, just like chatting normally.
"I can join the Beast Pirates and work sincerely for it, but I have my conditions."
Kaidou waved his hand directly,
"As long as you're willing to join the Beasts Pirates, you can say whatever the conditions are."
Marcus was not polite and said his conditions directly.
"First, since I was invited to join, my status and rights should not be too low. I am the best scientist you will ever see, I don't want any random grunt to step on me just because they were around for a bit longer or some such nonsense."
"Second, you have also seen my current situation, so the salary can't be too little. I still need money to get by and find some girls in town, only fair payment for my work of course."
"Thirdly, this radar is just one of my current lowest-level inventions, and I will continue to develop more powerful technologies in the future, which requires your unconditional full support."
"Fourth, I want girls. I refuse to work forever and do not have any females around to enjoy, so you will have to help me get my hands on them. The prettier and more 'unique' the better, I may request for a few specific ones that catch my fancy, and you have to help me get them!"
"Fifth..."
Kaidou interrupted directly,
"Marcus, you don't need to say so much nonsense. For all of these conditions, I agree to them all and if you want more later, just say the world. As long as you work for me full-heartedly, I will not be stingy and will do my best to help you live as you please. Riches, power, women, this and more I can and will give you as much as you want if you work for me."
Kaidou originally wanted Marcus, such a super scientist, to make the Beasts Pirates stronger. Whatever materials are needed shall naturally be provided, but if Marcus didn't develop something more powerful then Kaidou would force him to develop it.
As for Marcus's other conditions, Kaidou accepts all of them without an issue. In Kaidou's eyes, Marcus already has great value just based on this radar alone. The beast pirates center extremely in hard direct power, true, but even if Marcus was a weakling now it did not change the fact that his worth to the crew was immense.
He just might be the key to world domination, for the ultimate army, so even if Marcus did not say anything, Kaidou would still give him a high position and arrange for the best of accommodations that would be correspondent to his work.
At the same time, Kaidou was also very interested in what Marcus just said. He asked curiously;
"Marcus, can you tell us about your next research?"
Marcus is happy to see that Kaidou so easily agreed to his terms, at least this means that the future shouldn't be that hard.
After hearing the question, Marcus didn't hide it, and said directly:
"I was thinking of making some weapons that have powers like those of Devil Fruits but that anyone can use and without us having to use the actual devil fruit for them. This way, even if the one wielding them dies, they can still be given to someone else directly"
When Kaidou heard these words, he laughed out loud. His subconscious thought was that Marcus was bragging since this technology sounded simply far too absurd. Devil fruits were unique with nothing being able to just completely replace them, and having technology able to reproduce their effects in full sounded absurd, but his smile soon subsided.
That was because Kaidou thought of the [Devil Radar] just now. This thing can detect devil fruits from such a large distance, something thought completely impossible until now. Maybe this kid in front of him can really do the impossible again and create these weapons.
Kaidou wondered for bit, but decided not to overthink it anymore. In short, he will know later if Marcus was being truthful or not. At present, just having more of these radars would make Kaidou very satisfied and have the entire fighting core busy.
They would scour the seas and find it, find all devil fruits out there in the four seas and Grand Line!
Kaidou didn't say anything more, just grinned happily and laughed at the thought of Sengoku's expression when an army of thousands of devil fruit users shows up to trample Marineford.
Truly, Kaidou never thought that he would be able to pick up a treasure like Marcus after the strongest creature decided on committing suicide again out of boredom. If things turned out this way, the sea Gods must be blessing the Beasts Pirates' future.
Excited, Kaidou turned into his dragon form once again, his massive form looked at Marcus who was not as big as even a single one of his fingers. The difference in power was massive, but Kaidou did not get all superior just because of that and instead showed a smile as he spoke up.
"Marcus, what are you still doing, sit up quickly."
Marcus couldn't believe his ears when he heard this, it sounded entirely impossible and he could only mutter in disbelief.
"You want me to sit on your body?"
The one in front of Marcus is Kaidou of the Beasts, the strongest creature... and he would actually let him sit on top?
This development really surprised Marcus. To be honest, he was really afraid he might have misunderstood and that Kaidou would snort in disbelief in his general direction and kill him by accident.
Kaidou however, did no such thing as he simply spoke up.
"That's right! Kid, don't be so surprised by me doing this sort of small thing. I won't just carry you around back to Onigashima on my claws since I might accidentally hurt you, my back is much safer. I'm still looking forward to your other surprises in the future, what sort of boss would I be if I were we just ignore your wellbeing like that?"
Now Marcus is sure, Kaidou is not joking, and joining him was the right call. Sure, he was a tyrant and warmonger, but he had his own sort of charisma, and the more they talked the more sure Marcus got that Kaidou would be the right type of boss for him.
Well, it was also true that Marcus was simply excited as well. Which kid has never thought of riding a dragon through the skies and feeling like the king of the world? This was a childhood dream come true, and Marcus would enjoy it every step of the way!
No longer being fearful, since Kaidou has said that he could do so, Marcus obediently climbs Kaidou's giant frame until he is on his back. As soon as he was seated there clouds were created to make the ride more comfortable as well as to ensure that he would not fall from the ride.
Kaidou as treating Marcus as if he was made out of glass, and the young transverser had no problems with that.
After Marcus was seated, Kaidou let out a long whistle: "Little devil, you are a member of my Beasts Pirates from now on and this captain has decided that you will be a new member of the Tobiroppo!"
On the back of the dragon, Marcus was ecstatic, he didn't expect Kaidou to value him so much, and directly gave him such a status in Beasts Pirates, becoming a member of the Tobiroppo, which means his status is only below that of King, Queen, and Jack. All that before Marcus even did anything for the Beasts Pirates, in the future, he really might just be given the position of All-Star!
This was no laughing matter, he was weak for now but he was already above tens of thousands of pirates.
For his future life, Marcus is suddenly full of expectations as he imagined himself being surrounded by all the beauties out in this world and with armies fighting for him. Enjoy a life of luxury and pleasures, the Beasts Pirates is certainly the best option for Marcus who is inherently a greedy person.
Soon, Kaidou took Marcus into the air and flew to the sky. The Yonko was already excited over the prospect of what will happen in the future.
Looking at this lonely island on which he has been trapped for these few months, Marcus has no fond memories in his heart. Even as the island that has been basically his own home for this period of time, it was still far from enough for Marcus who wanted to live as more than a damn hermit. He is full of expectations for his future life as a member of the Tobiroppo, a pirate of the Beast Pirates.
