Grissom grabbed the only slip that came in off his desk, walked out to the break room where the team was waiting for their assignments. He'd decide that the whole team would work this case since it was the only crime. Walking in, he met a room with five sets of eyes on him as he walks in. "One case, everyone is on board." he said looking at them.
Nick was the first to speak up "Why is that, is everybody either in the bar or sleeping?" he asked, looking at Grissom expecting a good reason.
Grissom sat down at the end of the table saying "No, because it's the only case going on." He says as if that was a good enough reason.
"Warrick, Catherine, and Greg you go in one of the SUV's. Sara and Nick you re with me, let's head out." Grissom said giving a copy to Catherine.
Everyone went to get their kits and headed to their destination. Sara and Nick grabbed their kit and jacket, headed to Grissom's office. When they arrived, he was just shutting off his light and locking the door. Seeing them headed his way, he stopped and waited for them to catch up. Once they did Sara asked "So, where is this at?" Finding out what they're up against tonight
"The slip says out in Pahrump, 2357 Zuni Road." Grissom replied handing the slip to her.
Sara took the paper from him and skimmed through it. "Zuni Road is a deserted area. Not many people live out there," She said handing the paper over to Nick.
"Now, what were a couple doing out there in the middle of the night?" Nick asks sarcastically frowning.
Walking out to the vehicle, Grissom looked at Nick and gave him a look that said 'that's what we're going to find out.' Hoping it would be easier than it sounded, he got in behind the wheel while Sara took the passenger seat and Nick sat in the rear. Catherine, Warrick, and Greg were just pulling up as Grissom arrived.
"Right on time, they must have taken a short - cut." Catherine said stepping out from the driver s side with Warrick and Greg in tow.
"Either that or they had less traffic getting here." Warrick retorted, looking at Catherine.
The whole team came to stop behind the yellow tape to see what lay ahead of them.
Noticing the team approaching, Brass walked over to them. "A couple came out here enjoying a little romantic stroll when they came across a body lying in a pile of bushes." he said pointing to the bushes.
Grissom beamed his light in the direction Jim was pointing at. Seeing the body, he got closer to see that it was a female on her back with a black hole between her eyes.
"There's no blood pool, which means the body was dumped here after being shot." Nick said examining the area.
"Warrick and I will take the perimeter; see if we can find any evidence." Catherine said starting to leave with Warrick in tow.
"Sara you and Greg take pictures, get samples from around the body." Grissom instructed looking at them.
Greg took snapshots of how the body was laying and around the area, while Sara swabbed what little blood there was on the body.
"Hi, sorry I'm late," David said, coming up to the body. Grissom nodded, and moved back to let him work. "I had a body that was in need of urgent attention." David looked at the body and stuck a thermometer into the liver. "TOD is around 10:00 PM. She's been here for almost three hours. She has a gunshot wound to the forehead." He gave the body a pat-down and found a wallet he handed over to Grissom who was crouching down next to him. His assistant helped put the body in a black body bag, then haul in onto the awaiting stretcher and load it in the van.
Grissom opened the wallet and found a pack of spearmint gum, a K-mart coupon, and luckily a driver's license. Looking at their Jane Doe's info, her name was Mary Allan Saber, age 60, 5"4, she had blue eyes and lived at 3667 Margarita Way, Spring Valley, Nevada. He looked up to see Sara walking towards him. "Looks like we have an address where our victim lives." he said standing up next to her.
She took the wallet to see for herself. "Well, that's a start." She said smirking at him.
