Chapter Six

It was fifteen minutes later that Shadow was all presentable for all to see and he was now entering the living room to inform Sonic he was.

"Ok I'm ready, sorry it took so... long. Are you sure you are ok Sonic?" Shadow announced himself as he walked right inside the living room, still a little damp from his shower, then stood in front of Sonic sitting on the sofa.

"I-I er, yeah all good Shadow. You erm you ready to go now?" Sonic said with nerves dripping off him and blushing madly no thanks to his mind making him see Shadow giving him a cute sexy pose while lying down on the bed in his head.

"If you are sure and yes I said that I was." Shadow smirked teasingly at Sonic and was going to just believe the hero's words for now.

Sonic jumped to his feet and mentally shook those thoughts from his head. He needed to keep a straight mind and concentrate on this one sided breakfast date he planned to have with Shadow.

"Ok chaos control us to the city and I'll lead us to a place called Dave's diner. They have the best breakfast menu and the food is pretty good along with the prices and portion sizes." Sonic cheerfully said and was acting more like himself.

Shadow nodded then chaos controlled them both right in front of the diner.

"Rouge dragged me here once a couple of months ago. We didn't eat but had a couple of coffees as she spied on Knuckles who was across the street doing who knows what." Shadow answered the unasked question that Sonic was going to ask.

That question was, how do you know where this place was? For he was sure Shadow would not walk into any kind of establishment and sit down to eat or drink.

"Yeah that kind of sounds right, don't know why they don't just get together already. They are clearly into one another am I right?" Sonic grinned as he began to walk towards the door, opening it and holding it open for Shadow.

"Oh but that is simply not true, they absolutely do not find the other attractive." Shadow said with a fake matter-of-fact tone as he walked in and passed Sonic.

The two laughed as it was totally obviously the bat and echidna had a thing for each other, all while walking to a table near the back and sitting by a window. They chose to sit opposite each other in stead of next to each other as it was easy for when talking to one another. They calmed there laughter and grabbed a menu each from the holder at the end of their chosen table.

"Let's see pancakes or something that comes with bacon?" Sonic muttered as he looked at a picture of a stack of pancakes covered in sweet syrup then at the plate of bacon with omelette, sausages and chips.

"Hmm, so much choice. Definitely have to have bacon, cannot do breakfast without at least having some bacon." Shadow thought as he looked down the menu with a small frown.

"Ok I'm done choosing, you ready to order Shads?" Sonic cheerfully said with a smile as he placed his menu back.

"Do you think they would do me just a plate of bacon to go with my black coffee?" Shadow asked as he placed his menu down.

"Just bacon? I don't see why they can't, you sure that is all you want?" Sonic asked with a raised brow.

"Yeah I don't have breakfast often and when I do it's usually bacon." Shadow said casually with a shrug.

"Ok." Sonic brightly said with a smile then raised his hand up and motioned a waitress over so they could place their order.

An hour later...

"Wait so you and Rouge purposely got suspended just to have time off undisturbed? Oh man I wish I was there to see the look on Towers' face, I bet is was a picture." Sonic said with high amusement as he thought what Shadow and Rouge did was classic.

"So now we have two full weeks off to do whatever without being called into work." Shadow said with a smirk then sipped his second black coffee this breakfast session.

"Cool so got any plans made?" Sonic asked curiously then lifted his tea to his lips, drinking it as he listened to Shadow.

"Apart from maybe Rouge staying the night again tonight nothing has been planned yet. Might just see what the day brings and go from there." Shadow calmly said with a faint smile at Sonic.

"Or you could do what teens do these days instead of always having to play the roll of being an adult. You know let your quills down and have some fun and what have you." Sonic suggested as he placed his now empty mug down, smiling at Shadow happily.

"Yeah like what? I am not accustomed to what teenagers usually do, I have never had the privilege in behaving like one." Shadow asked with a small frown then downed the last of his drink.

"Erm well you could like hang out with me and the guys occasionally during your suspension. We do all kinds of fun things together like bowling, playing video games, chilling out on the beach and other cool things too." Sonic offered with hope in his eyes.

"I suppose I could do that, it does sound interesting to experience." Shadow replied with a shrug.

"Awesome, ok me and the guys are planning like a gaming night round mine and Tails' place this Friday. No girls allowed of course and Silver will be there too. You are also welcomed to stay over with everyone and since you have to you know, you can have the spare room or bunk with me in my room." Sonic cheerfully said and really hoped Shadow would choose to share his room or more like share his bed with him.

"Well that will all depend when this gaming night ends for those pills are supposed to give me up to eight hours of interrupted sleep and I won't wake up during that time either." Shadow softly said as he lent backwards and crossed his arms.

"Oh right, it usually lasts until the early hours of the morning but no one gets up until like early afternoon so it all should work out." Sonic answered with a pleading expression for Shadow to stay the night with him.

"Alright fine I'll stay over. We ready to pay and leave?" Shadow grinned as he was now feeling a little less unsure with spending the night, maybe even looking forward to the experience more now.

"Hey no sweat, I've got this ok." Sonic quickly said before Shadow could get his share of the bill out from a secret compartment in the heal of the inside of his skates.

"You sure?" Shadow asked with a raised brow while he and Sonic stood up.

"Totally sure Shads." Sonic brightly said as he placed cash down on top of the paper bill with a generous tip.
