(Sorry for not posting in the last couple of weeks but I have had some major issues getting connected to the internet with my like 12yr old laptop. I know I so need a new one but I have to save up for one which will take a good few months. But here is the next chapter for you to read and lets hope I do not have any more issues in the future.)
Chapter Nine
Almost two hours later Shadow's front door was knocked upon but both Shadow and Rouge were to into their show to get up and answer it in person.
"Doors open!" Shadow called out as his eyes were glued to the TV screen then shoved popcorn into his mouth.
"Oh chaos I knew it, I called that one." Rouge said with a smug tone as she laid her head on Shadows shoulder while taking some popcorn.
"Hey oh this looks cosy." Sonic said as he walked in then stood beside the sofa and looking down at the two friends.
"You are just in time to watch Detective Conner catch the killer who we suspect is hiding in the wardrobe." Shadow said with some excitement as he knew there was going to be some kind of slashing and fighting.
"Cool, mind if I sit next to ya Shads?" Sonic asked with a grin.
"No now hush." Shadow said in a slightly quiet tone and not really caring who was sitting next to him right now.
Sonic smiled brightly then sat next to Shadow, a bit too closely next to him, then watched the scene play out. The killer jumped out of the wardrobe holding a dagger and threatening Detective Conner with it.
"Nailed it!" Both Shadow and Rouge said then high five each other.
"Hey good call guys. Wow this is pretty good, pass the popcorn Shads." Sonic said as now he was getting stuck into this like Shadow and Rouge were.
"Oh no! I did not see that comin!." Shadow called out with shock then went to take some popcorn to eat.
"That looks so real." Sonic said as he watched the killer draw out the dagger from Detective Conner, blood oozing out of the stomach wound.
"No, Connor don't fall down, get up on your feet. It's only a stab wound you can manage!" Rouge shouted out with suspense as the killer loomed over the lead character and looking as if he was going to strike the killer blow.
"Yeah it's easy, bite through the pain and carry on!" Shadow shouted at the TV then the killer inched closer.
A gun went off making all watching jump in surprise. The killer gasped then fell down. Behind him was a woman holding a gun out with smoke coming from the barrel.
"Chaos she just shot him in the back!" Sonic called out in shock.
"No she didn't, she gave him a bunch of flowers." Shadow said sarcastically with a roll of his eyes.
The episode ended with the woman running over and holding the detective while calling an ambulance.
"Yeah well you want me to shoot you with flowers Shads?" Sonic teased with a grin at Shadow.
"Go ahead but they better be Dragon-snaps and they better be a pretty colour too." Shadow teased back with a smirk while he turned his head to look back at Sonic.
"Sarcastic-hog." Sonic said then flicked a single piece of popcorn at Shadow, it hitting Shadow's nose.
"Back at ya Faker." Shadow said then did the same but with a few pieces, getting Sonic in the face.
"Boys quit flirting will ya and stop wasting the precious popcorn." Rouge smirked playfully as she took the bowl from Shadow and went about protecting it.
"I happen to have more in the cupboard so that is not an issue. Furthermore we are not flirting, it's called playing about." Shadow corrected in a matter-of-fact tone, grinned madly as he turned his head to look back at Rouge.
"Yeah we are messing about, it's what teenagers do." Sonic added with a forced grin as he really was flirting, mildly flirting but still flirting with Shadow.
"Whatever it's almost four o'clock now and Shadow plans to go bed at five which means we have time for one more episode. Shadow we are low on popcorn and it's your turn to make it." Rouge said with her grin growing slightly, passing Shadow the almost empty bowl.
"Fine but don't you dare play the next episode until I get back." Shadow semi seriously said as he took the bowl then walked out with it.
"Ok blue what's the deal between you and Shadow?" Rouge asked with a suspicious look at Sonic.
"I don't know what you mean Rouge, we are just hanging out like you and Shadow do." Sonic said with a small frown, hoping the bat didn't figure out his feelings for Shadow.
"Oh this seems like more than just hanging out these days. You both have been spending more time together than you usually do. I am no fool Sonic and I can see that you have some interest in Shadow. So what is it, friendship or love?" Rouge said with her suspicious look turning a little devious.
"I-I don't know what you are talking about." Sonic nervously said as he was feeling uncomfortable under Rouges stare.
"Why so nervous Sonic, you scared I will tell Shadow you love and adore him?" Rouge teased with a little chuckle that sounded evil.
"I-I, er I really don't...ok, ok please do not tell him. I don't want to chase him away because I have feelings for him. If he ever found out I love him then he will avoid me, I don't want that. I rather have him in my life than never at all." Sonic broke down and admitted his feelings to Rouge.
"You know, he wouldn't do that and I think you should tell him in your own time. I have noticed he has become more relaxed and not so snappy or short tempered with you. He seems to be able to tolerate you more so that is a good sign in my opinion." Rouge sincerely said with a faint smile.
"Yeah same and he is more chatty to me too. He even told me about his current problem and respect to you and him for what you both did the other day at GUN." Sonic said with a grin, feeling more relaxed now.
"Really he told you about his night issues? And you should have been there to see Towers' face, very entertaining." Rouge said with a laugh at the end as she recalled the look on the commanders face that day.
"Yep and I am glad he feels comfortable enough that he can tell me stuff without the worry I might say something to someone who isn't in the lope about it. I value that trust and plan to never ever break it." Sonic semi serious said as he vowed to never betray Shadows trust in any way.
"Right I'm back so press the play option." Shadow announced as he entered the living room with a full bowl of popcorn, taking his seat in-between Sonic and Rouge and placing the bowl on his lap.
"Oh look my comfy pillow is back with the snacks." Rouge teased as she got comfy and pressed play while once again resting her head on Shadow's shoulder.
"Yeah that totally looks comfy, let me give it a go." Sonic grinned then did the same and even going as far as taking popcorn to eat.
"You both are something else you both know that right?" Shadow sighed and just allowed this.
"We know right Rouge?" Sonic chuckled as he felt so happy Shadow didn't shove him off.
"That we do Sonic." Rouge laughed lightly then took a hand full of popcorn to eat.
It was just gone five when that episode finished, the popcorn was finished and Rouge turned the TV off.
"Ok time for you to go to bed unless you don't want to Shadow." Rouge said with a grin, hinting out if he didn't then he can't have two of those pills tonight.
"Yeah, yeah I hear ya, I'm going. See you both tomorrow." Shadow replied with a roll of his eyes then stood up as he was freed from being a pillow.
After Shadow was out and no longer in earshot the two in the living room locked eyes.
"And why does he want to go to bed this early?" Sonic asked with some confusion in his green eyes.
"He wants to experience a lay in. According to him he has never had the luxury in sleeping in until mid morning and wants to do that. Only problem is he has been waking up at eight in the morning ever since he started those sleeping pills and before that he hardly slept in the night anyway. I told him he can take two tonight and tonight only. It should allow him to sleep in a bit later in the morning so long as he takes them around five this evening." Rouge explained with a small frown.
"Right this might be partly my fault as I gave him the suggestion to do things a teen normally does. Sleeping in late is a teen thing for we don't usually have much to get up early for and spend most of the night playing video games." Sonic said with a slightly nervous smile at Rouges displeased expression.
"Stop giving your future boyfriend ideas Sonic the hedgehog." Rouge soon began to grin as she teased the hero.
"Sorry but he didn't know what he should do with his free time so I helped him out. What kind of secret admirer would I be if I didn't help out the one I love?" Sonic grinned back as he spoke in a somewhat factual tone.
"A pretty crappy one that's for sure." Rouge playfully rolled her eyes.
