Hi everyone! I hope everything has been going well. My life has been kind of wild these past couples of days so I'm sorry I haven't been able to post a new chapter. I've also been watching the Sun and Moon anime because I had never seen it before. I was a little hesitant because of the drawing style but it's actually really good! I recommend it! I just finished the first season and I loved it when Brock and Misty came back. If only they would do the same for Dawn! Anyways, enjoy it!
With all 8 badges under his belt, Ash was ready for the Kalos League. While on their way towards Lumiose City, where the league was being held, the group visited Ash's Goodra back its home. They were a couple of problems involving Team Rocket, as usual, but Ash and his friends were able to fix everything. This all happened during the day. Keanan, the watcher of the marshlands, allowed them to stay overnight before heading off to the Kalos League the next morning.
Everyone was fast asleep in their sleeping bags across the floor. Pikachu was laying on Ash's chest and Piplup was cradled inside Dawn's arms. Everyone was exhausted. Suddenly, a small yellow bag moved and out popped Squishy.
Squishy hopped towards the window and looked out as if it was looking for someone.
Respond! Please tell me you're alright!
"Squishy?"
Squishy turned around and saw that Bonnie had stood up from her sleeping bag. She carefully walked over the green Pokemon.
"Is everything alright?" Bonnie asked as she out Squishy into her arms. Squishy just sighed and jumped out of the girl's arms to look outside the window again.
"You're still looking for someone, aren't you?"
Squishy looked down, it wasn't able to hide things very well from Bonnie. Noticing this, Bonnie then started to pet the Pokemon's head and sang. "Squishy and me, nuzzling cheeks, best friends forever, we're so happy. I promise I'll never leave Squishy! Sweet little Squishy here's my song for you. My sweet Squishy, that's you! I'll always know what you're feeling! And I'll always be there to catch you! I'll care for you and always be with you! To me, Squishy, your feelings are so real! I'll never leave Squishy! My sweet Squishy that's you!"
"That's a beautiful song, Bonnie…"
Bonnie turned around and saw Dawn holding a very tired Piplup walking towards her.
"It's the Squishy Song! I sing it to Squishy whenever it's feeling sad" replied Bonnie.
Dawn smiled. "Squishy is a lucky Pokemon to have someone that cares for it so much"
Bonnie turned back to Squishy and noticed that it had fallen asleep.
"Come on, you need your sleep, we have a long day tomorrow and I'm sure Ash won't want to slow down," said Dawn.
Bonnie nodded and the two-headed back towards their sleeping bags and went back to bed.
…
A couple of days after, the group had finally arrived in the beautiful Lumiose City.
"We're finally here!"
Ash ran off ahead of the group clearing showing how excited he was. Dawn and Serena, on the other hand, was in awe of the city. There were so many lights and the number of stores and cafes, Dawn was sure that she was going to be spending a lot of money. Clemont and Bonnie were happy to be back in their hometown. Even though it was rather hectic, it was just how they loved it.
With Ash's eagerness, the group quickly arrived at the stadium where the Kalos League was held. It was a beautiful stadium that had an open top. There were screens all around which showed the infamous Malva, an Elite Four Member but also a news reporter. There were people all over, showing how large this event is.
Malva was in front of the stadium with a familiar-looking tv-crew. "…everyone is eagerly awaiting the beginning of the tournament. Now, I think it would be a great time to interview a competing trainer!" With that, Malva ran off to find someone. Her TV crew slouched and the trio expressed how worn out they had been. What remotivated them was the idea of stealing Pokemon and off they went, chasing after Malva.
"Wow!"
Our group of heroes finally got to the stadium. Each person was in awe of how large and amazing the stadium was.
Dawn looked around and smirked. "You know Ash, there looks to be a lot of strong trainers" she teased.
Ash turned to her. "That just makes me even more excited! The stronger the trainer the more psyched I get!"
"Pika-Pika!" Exclaimed the yellow mouse.
Dawn giggled and was about to say something but she got cut off.
"Excuse me! Are you competing in the Kalos League?"
Everyone turned to face where the voice was coming from. They saw Malva running towards them and asking Ash for an interview. He then agreed and the TV-crew got ready.
"What is your name?" Asked Malva.
"It's Ash, Ash Ketchum from Pallet Town!"
Malva held the microphone towards Ash. "What are you planning on accomplishing?"
"I'm here to win the whole thing, battle by battle, step by step. I'm going to be the Kalos League champion!" Ash said confidently.
After a moment, Ash rubbed the back of his head. 'Well, you asked…"
Everyone who was watching the interview on the monitors laughed at seeing the Kanto-native's response. Anyone could see how passionate and high-spirited he was.
After the interview was over, the group headed to the registration desk. After seeing his interview, lots of people stopped to wish Ash good luck.
"Come, Ash, we have to hurry or you won't get registered," said Serena.
Ash nodded and he started to walk faster towards the desk.
"Hey, you!"
Ash turned around to see if they were calling at him. Sure enough, a punk boy was pointing right at him. "So you think you're strong enough to win this whole thing?"
"I've worked really hard!" Said Ash with confidence.
The boy smirked. "So… let's have a battle!"
Ash could never turn down a challenge. "You got it-"
Dawn grabbed Ash by the arm. "What part of 'we have to hurry' don't you understand?" Dawn started to pull Ash towards the registration desk "We don't have time for you to have to battle!"
Ash scratched the back of his head. "Sorry, next time we meet I promise we will battle!"
Then the group ran towards the desk and as the boy grunted in frustration.
…
After registration, the large was hosting a dinner for all the participants. It was outside right where the group first walked in. There were so many trainers all gathered around.
Ash looked around.
"And you're going to beat every since one of them," said Dawn with a smile.
Ash looked at her and smiled back. If she believed that he could do it, nothing was stopping him. Ash turned back to the sight of the trainers. He glanced over to his right and saw Sawyer, who was giving him a confident smile. Ash then had a flashback to what he told Sawyer before his first attempt at his 8th gym battle. In many ways, that conversation drove him to work even harder than before. Ash nodded. Suddenly, Ash felt a pat on the back. He turned around and saw Tierno and Trevor.
"Hey, guys! It's nice to see you!" Said Ash.
Tierno and Trevor greeted Clemont and Bonnie. Tierno then turned to Serena and Dawn. He then grabbed one of their hands. "It's very nice to see you two again…"Ash tensed when he saw this.
The two girls awkwardly laughed. "Nice to see you too…" They said in unison.
Bonnie then lightly hit Tierno's arm. "Tierno! You can't do that! Dawn is with Ash!"
Tierno then looked to Dawn who gave him an awkward smile. Realizing his mistake, he let go of their hands. "Oh I'm sorry, you got a good one Ash!"
Ash smiled when he heard this. He knew that he was lucky that he could call Dawn his.
Tierno then turned his attention to the performer. "I saw you in the Master Class Showcase! You were so good!"
"Thanks, Tierno, although I didn't manage to become Queen…"
Tierno winked. "You're always a Queen in my eyes!"
Serena laughed awkwardly. "Oh! So where's Shauna?"
"She said she's coming later!" Responded Trevor.
Seeing how uncomfortable Serena was getting, Clemont decided to speak up. "So are you guys competing?"
Tierno and Trevor turned towards the gym leader. "Yep and I'm planning on winning the whole thing!" Exclaimed Tierno.
"That's what you think! I'm going to win!" Said Trevor.
Ash turned to the duo. "Nope, it's going to be me!" Ash then saw in the distance Professor Sycamore. He was walked towards Alain. Professor Sycamore extended his hand but Alain simply bowed towards him and then walked away.
Ash quickly ran up towards the boy with the blue scarf. "Alain!"
Alain turned around to see who was calling him.
"Are you competing too?"
Alain let out a half-smile. 'Yeah, because I want to compete against you"
"Really?" Exclaimed Ash.
Alain nodded. "There's still the matter of Mega Evolution Energy too. For now, my goal is to keep on making advancements. You make sure you do the same"
"Of course I will! There's no way I'm losing. The goal is to win the whole thing!" Said Ash.
With that, Alain turned around and walked away from the eager boy. Ash then ran back towards his friends.
"There you are! Come on! There are announcing the first-round matchups!" Yelled Dawn.
They then turned their attention towards the announcer and the screen behind him. The announcer greeted everyone and then motioned his hand upwards. Then, many pictures were shown depicting who was facing who. It was revealed that the very first battle would be Alain against Trevor.
"Ash! You're in the second battle!" Said Serena.
Ash nodded and looked around to see if he could find his opponent. They then made eye contact with one and other and nodded. Tierno and Sawyer were much later in the tournament, facing off against people they had not known before.
"The first battle…" Trevor thought out loud.
Tierno looked to his photo-loving friend. "Hey don't sweat it, you have your secret weapon!"
These words intrigued Ash, "What's your secret weapon?" He asked
Trevor smirked. "If I tell you what it is, then it wouldn't be a secret!"
Ash then started to tease Trevor, trying to get him to spill what his secret weapon was.
…
It was the next day, meaning the Kalos League would be beginning. Ash, Dawn, Serena, Clemont, Bonnie, and Tierno were in the stands getting ready to watch the first battle go down between Alain and Trevor. You could hear the excitement in the crowd.
Suddenly, the fireworks went off and a rather large looking Pokeball was opened. From the Pokeball, loads of Fletchling emerged and flew all around the stadium, covering the stadium in ember-like lights. The opening ceremony was beginning. Diantha, the Kalos Champion stood up and began to speak.
"To all our trainers, the efforts and experiences you have gained throughout your journey are always with you. Now it is time to put all of that to the test! Give it everything you've got and show everyone all of your hard work and dedication!" Diantha then threw her hands in the air. "It is my honor to declare this year's Kalos League OPEN!"
Cheers roared throughout the stadium. Then the first two competitors were seen walking onto the battlefield as more confetti was being tossed into the stadium. It was showed that the battle format will be a three on three battle which will take place on a water and rock battlefield. From the pit, a battlefield emerged it was a rocky surface with a waterfall raining down right in the middle.
Trevor and Alain had looks of determination all over their faces. The referee announced the rules and declares that the battle was now beginning.
Trevor took a deep breath. "Charizard! Come on out!"
"Charizard, let's go!"
Each trainer was using a Charizard, an interesting matchup to say the least. Both sides were watching, seeing what the other trainer would do first.
"Since you're not going first, I will, Charizard use Fire Spin!" Commanded Trevor.
Trevor's Charizard roared and unleashed the fiery attack. After hearing Alain's command, Charizard was able to dodge the attack and unleash his own fire move, Flamethrower.
"Use Dragon Claw!"
Trevor's Charizard's claws grew in size and glowed a bright green. Charizard then crossed its arms and protected himself from the Flamethrower.
Feeling confident, Trevor reached for his camera. "Time to show off from the start!" Trevor then tapped a little stone that was on his camera. The stone began to glow and released yellow light all around. "Let's get to it, Charizard!"
The light from the stone surrounded Charizard and when it disappeared, Charizard had Mega-evolved into Mega Charizard Y.
…
"WOW!" Ash exclaimed. He had never seen a Mega Charizard Y before.
Clemont put a finger under his chin. "So that must have been the secret weapon that Revor was talking about…"
Tierno got up on his feet. "Trevor has been working really hard for the Kalos League!"
…
Back on the battlefield, it had been a clash of fire type moves. Trevor commanded his Charizard to use Fire Spin. Compared to the previous one, it was clear that Mega Charizard Y had lots more power.
Alain skillfully used the field and made a water barrier between Charizard Y's attacks. He smirked. "Alright, there's no holding back…" Alain lifted his arm and touched his Key Stone. Just as Trevor's did earlier, the keystone glowed and yellow light came from it which surrounded Alain's Charizard. "Respond to my heart! Now, Keystone! Beyond Evolution! Mega Evolve!"
After the yellow light dissipated, Mega Charizard X appeared.
The entire stadium was in shock! Who knew for the first battle they would be having a Mega Charizard showdown?
Each Charizard launched their own fire attacks. Now with their new power, smoke covered the entire battlefield so no one knew what was happening. Charizard Y followed its trainers commanded and flew up so it could see. Using precise commands, Alain told Charizard X exactly where to aim its Flamethrower, making a direct impact.
"Charizard! No!"
Charizard Y hit the ground hit and was knocked out.
…
Ash and his friends were stunned. They knew Alain was strong, but with one hit he fainted Trevor's Charizard which had Mega Evolved! "That's that…" said Ash.
Dawn looked down at her Poketch. "Hey Ash, I think it's time you get ready for your battle"
Ash stood up. "Right!"
"Lots of luck Ash!" Said Serena.
Bonnie looked to the trainer. "We will be cheering all the way!"
"Good luck Ash!" Cheered Clemont.
"Show them who's boss!" Said, Tierno
Dawn stood up and petted Pikachu on its head. "I know the both of you will do amazing" Dawn then looked right into Ash's eyes. "Show everyone how special you are" Piplup cheered along with its best friend as well.
"Thanks, everyone!" With that Ash ran off.
Everyone watched as the Kanto-native ran off. Suddenly, he turned back around and ran back towards the group.
"Forgot something!" He then gave Dawn a quick kiss on the cheek and ran off again. Dawn blushed and yelled. "I love you! Go win!"
"I love you too! No need to worry!" Ash yelled back as he ran.
Dawn sat back down and continued to watch Trevor's battle. She then had a thought and giggled.
He knows that's when I worry the most!
…
Ash was hurrying to get to the entrance of the stadium where he had to be. As he was running, someone ran right in front of his path. It was the punk boy from before.
"It's time to have our battle!" Said the boy.
Ash stopped. "Look, I have a match to get to"
The boy shook his head. "You promised…"
"Pika-Pika…" Pikachu said with concern.
Ash grunted. "I know, but I don't break promises…"
"Pika! Pika-pi! Pika!"
Ash head his head high. "I'm keeping my word!"
"That's what I expect to hear from a trainer with 8 badges…" said the boy. "A one on one battle, no holding back!" The boy threw his Pokeball and released his Furfrou
Ash nodded as Pikachu jumped down from his shoulder, getting ready to battle.
"Who cares about gym badges? By beating you, I'm going to show you just how strong I am! Furfrou, use Sand Attack!"
Sand emerged from the ground and Furfrou launched it towards Pikachu who got hit.
The punk boy continued. "There are lots of strong trainers without 8 gym badges. Use Giga Impact!"
Using its speed, Furfrou was able to make direct contact with Pikachu.
…
Back on the battlefield, Trevor's second Pokemon had just fainted with one move again. He was beginning to panic. Alain and his Charizard were so strong and he was on his final Pokemon.
…
Even though it had taken damage, Pikachu was still able to fight. The punk boy called for a Take-Down. Ash saw an opening and told Pikachu to use Iron Tail. The two attacks collided and while Pikachu was flying back, it followed Ash's instructions and used Electro Ball.
"Use Cotton Guard!"
Pikachu launched the attack so quickly that Furfrou didn't have enough time to defend its self.
"You're strong alright… but I have to beat you so I can get out there!" Yelled Ash. "I didn't make it to the Kalos League for nothing. Each one of the badges I earned has so many memories and shown how much stronger" Ash grabbed something from his pocket and looked down at it. "And it's all thanks to the constant support I have". Ash then hid the object in a fist and held it up. "And I'm going to show you just who the Real Ash Ketchum is!"
…
Trevor's last Pokemon was Florges, the elegant Pokemon launched and Energy Ball right towards the Flame Pokemon. It never reached the Mega Charizard as the Energy Ball was knocked out by Charizard's Flamethrower which made direct contact with Florges. Due to the magnitude of the attack, smoke surrounded Florges.
"Florges! No!"
After the smoke cleared, it was revealed that Florges has fainted. This was Trevor's last Pokemon, meaning that Alain had won with a clean sweep.
"Alain grabs the first win of the Kalos League!"
Everyone turned their attention to the big screen which showed the next matchup of Ash against Titus.
Titus stepped out onto the crowd, ready to face his opponent. Suddenly, the next battlefield arose from the ground, revealing that the next battle would take place on a glass battlefield.
Looking on the other side, Ash was nowhere to be found.
…
"What happened to Ash?" Said Serena.
"Something must have happened to him…" exclaimed Clemont.
Dawn half-smiled. "Ash said there's no need to worry… he's going to be here". On the outside, Dawn seemed calm, but she couldn't help but be worried. Ash would never be late for something like this.
…
Back on the battlefield, the referee raised his arm. "Time is-
"Wait!"
Everyone turned their attention to the late boy who was out of breath. "I'm here! I'm sorry!"
The punk boy was sitting right where he had lost to Ash. Remembering the events that just happened before him.
"Let's finish this with Thunderbolt!"
Pikachu gave it all it had and made direct contact with Furfrou. The attack was so powerful and Furfrou fainted. Ash walked right up to the boy and thanked him for a great battle. The boy didn't respond and he returned his Pokemon. Ash then walked right past him.
"I couldn't get all 8 badges in time…"
Ash stopped, he could hear the frustration in the boy's voice.
"There are lots of trainers just like me. Trainers that wanted to compete in the Kalos League. All those trainers, and their hopes and dreams… You better win, no matter what!"
Ash paused he grabbed the object from his pocket and looked down on it. He then pinned it right on top of his heart. "I'll win alright" responded Ash as he walked on.
Ash looked up to face the audience.
"I"m Ash Ketchum from Pallet Town! I want to become a Pokemon Master! That means I have to win the Kalos League!" Yelled Ash as he held his arm towards the sky.
…
In the stands, Tierno, Serena, Clemont, and Bonnie were laughing. Seeing Ash being so confident in himself after being late was truly a sight to see.
Dawn, on the other hand, looked at the boy with admiration in her eyes. She then looked closely and saw that he was wearing her ribbon right on his heart just as she did.
Ash, show them all how incredible you are…
…
Titus threw his first Pokeball and revealed his Altaria. Ash did the same and there was his powerful Greninja, ready to battle.
Altaria launched the first two attacks, the first being a Dragon Pulse which was strong, but not enough to knock out Greninja. Then, Altaria flew into the air and unleashed a Draco Meteor.
"Let's show everyone just how powerful you are!" Yelled Ash. Greninja nodded in agreement.
"Stronger and stronger and even stronger! "Here we go!"
A water tornado appeared around Greninja and with its new speed, it was easily able to dodge all of the meteor's from Altaria's attacks. Then, Greninja jumped into the air, and the water tornado that surrounded transformed into a Water Shuriken on its back.
Clearly, the crowd did not expect this to happen. The announcer was shocked. Sawyer and Alain were both relieved to see Ash and Greninja had mastered the transformation.
"Greninja! Water Shuriken!"
Altaria was hit hard and was knocked out with one move, showing just how powerful Ash-Greninja is.
Ash was easily able to win his first-round and move on the next.
…
The punk boy looked at the monitor and saw that Ash had moved on to the next round. Feeling satisfied, the boy walked away.
…
Ash walked out of the stadium to meet up with his friends. Suddenly, he felt a tap on the back and turned around to see who it was, there was no one there so we looked to the other side. When he had enough, he turned around to see his beautiful girlfriend standing in front of him.
"You were amazing Ash!" Dawn said as she gave him a hug. Ash spun her around as he returned the hug. By then, everyone else had caught up to Dawn and congratulated Ash as well.
"Onto to the next!" Yelled Ash.
…
It had been a hectic last 3 days, Ash had been doing so well. He was clearly a trainer to look out for. Each match, he wore Dawn's ribbon proudly. Right now, Ash and Hawlucha were finishing up his battle against Astrid and her Mega Absol.
"Use Flying Press!"
Hawlucha jumped into the air and did its infamous pose, it then flew right to Absol. The hit was so hard that smoke surrounded Absol. When it cleared away, it was revealed that Absol had fainted.
"Absol is unable to battle, so Hawlucha wins. The winner of the match and moving onto the semifinals is Ash Ketchum from Pallet Town!"
Ash jumped into the air with excitement. He then ran towards Hawlucha and thanked it for such a wonderful battle.
Ash then went back and saw Sawyer who was getting ready for his match.
"Ash!"
"Hey, Sawyer!"
"Wow! The semifinals! Congratulations!"
Ash smiled. "Thanks! Now, it's your turn!"
Sawyer nodded. "Yep, and I'm going to win!" He then looked at Ash. "Remember what you said?"
Ash remembered. He said that they were going to battle at the Kalos League and that he was going to break his losing streak.
"That's why I'm going to win!" Continued Sawyer.
This made Ash smile even more. "Yeah! But Tierno is really strong!"
"Tierno is your friend right?"
Ash nodded in agreement.
Sawyer took out his notebook. "I've taken lots of notes after watching his battles. I know I have to be careful against his unique battle style. I'll mess with his rhythm!"
"Yeah!" Said Ash.
"I have a secret weapon too! Anyways, see you soon!" Said Sawyer as he ran off to the battlefield
"Okay, good luck!" Exclaimed Ash although he couldn't help but be curious as to what Sawyer was referring to as his secret weapon.
…
The third of the quarterfinal matches had just ended and it was declared that a trainer named Ramos would be moving onto the semi-finals along with Ash and Alain.
Dawn, Trevor, Serena, Clemont, and Bonnie were in the stands getting ready to watch two close friends battle it out in the last quarterfinal match.
"Did I make it?"
They all turned around to see a worn-out Shauna. She was clearly very tired as she was breathing really heavy. Everyone smiled when they saw her.
"Shauna!" Said, Serena
"Yeah, you made it just in time! Tierno's battle is about to start!" Exclaimed Trevor.
Shauna sat down right to Serena. "That's a relief! So Serena, how have you been?"
"I've been great! Looks like you're doing well too" replied Serena.
Just as Shauna was going to speak she was cut off.
"Hey, it's Shauna!"
Ash was walking down to the stands to meet with his friends.
"Hi Ash, it's great to see you again, how's it going?" Said the performer
"It's been going great! I'm off to the semifinals!" Ash looked to see where he could sit. Of course, he wanted to sit next to Dawn but she was between Serena and Bonnie. Ash turned to Bonnie. "Hey Bonnie, I was wondering if I could sit next to Dawn, I really want to talk to her during the battle and be next to her"
Bonnie looked at the trainer and then back at the coordinator. "But I want to sit next to Dawn too!"
Dawn smiled. "Ash, could we talk later? I also want to catch up with Shauna and see what she's been up to"
Ash huffed a little. "Fine…" He then took the seat in-between Clemont and Trevor.
Shauna whispered to Serena. "What was that about?"
Serena gave a half-smile and whispered back, "Ash and Dawn are together and he's a little protective of her…"
Shauna looked at Serena surprised. "Are you okay about this?"
Serena looked down, paused, and then smiled back at Shauna. "They are perfect together, if he's happy, then I'm happy"
Deciding that a topic change was due, Shauna asked, "So who's Tierno battling against?"
"One of our friends Sawyer," said Dawn.
"Sawyer is pretty strong" continued Ash. "I even lost to him one time"
"Yeah but no need to worry, you'll get him next time!" Said Dawn sticking her tongue out Ash. This made Ash smile.
"Sawyer is strong and he's an impressive analyst," said Clemont.
Shauna looked at the battlefield. "Sounds like it's going to be a tough battle…"
…
Tierno and Sawyer were walking out to their positions as their battlefield was rising from the ground. They were going to be battling on a wasteland battlefield. Both trainers looked confident and after getting the rules from the referee, the two released their first Pokemon.
"Aegislash, let's go!"
"Ludicolo, it's time to dance!" When Ludicolo was released, both Tierno and Ludicolo danced together in unison, it was truly a sight to see. The dancing got to the crowd excited. When the drop of the referee's arm, the battle had now begun.
"Rain Dance!" Ludicolo danced around and it started to rain on the battlefield.
Sawyer smirked. "Rain Dance huh? Water-type moves are going to be stronger now. Completely textbook, I know exactly what to do. Aegislash, use Swords Dance!"
"Use Swords Dance once more!"
"Hydro Pump!"
The Hydro Pump contacted Aegislash before it could even start its move. This caught Sawyer off guard.
So it's fast. That right. Ludicolo's ability is Swift Swim. So Rain Dance increases Water-type moves and makes Ludicolo faster. Very nice.
"Finish this with Hydro Pump!"
"Use Slash!" Said Sawyer.
Aegislash released its sword and tried to cut through the Hydro Pump but it had too much power and Aegislash flew backward.
Tierno was dancing all around and taunting Sawyer. Tierno then commanded Ludicolo to use one last Hydro Pump. Sawyer told Aegislash to use King's Shield. This created a protective barrier because Aegislash re-inserted its sword inside its shield.
"Sacred Sword go!"
"Hydro Pump!"
Because King's Shield lowered Ludicolo's attack power, Aegislash was able to slice through the Hydro Pump and land a hit on Ludicolo, causing Ludicolo to be sent flying backward.
While Ludicolo was flying in the air, Aegislash used Swords Dance again to raise its attack power. Tierno then instructed Ludicolo to use Solar Beam. While the Solar Beam was charging, Aegislash used Sacred Sword which was able to cut through the Solar Beam and land and clean hit on Ludicolo, causing Ludicolo to faint.
"Ludicolo is unable to battle, Aegislash is the winner!"
Tierno returned Ludicolo and thanked it for a great battle. Since Ludicolo had fainted, the rain from the Rain Dance cleared away. Tierno then danced around and released his Raichu.
The two danced together in perfect unison. Then, Tierno called for a Charge Beam and using King's Shield, blocking the attack.
"Oh no, that King's Shield again!" Exclaimed Tierno.
"Use Slash!"
"Quick, use Dig!"
Using Dig, Raichu was skillfully able to dodge the attack and was now underground. Aegislash and Sawyer were both on the lookout, knowing that a counterattack was coming soon. Raichu was able to come up from the ground and hit Aegislash hard, causing Aegislash to faint.
Sawyer returned Aegislash and thanked it for all of its hard work.
…
Trevor put his camera down. "It's one to one…"
"They are both giving it their all," said Ash.
"This battle is so exciting!"
Dawn turned to the girl. "They are both such amazing trainers, aren't they?"
Bonnie jumped up. "I'm going to be an amazing trainer too!"
Dawn smiled. "You are!"
Ash looked to the two and couldn't help but smile. Dawn just had a way with people.
"I wonder what Pokemon Sawyer is going to use next…" said Clemont.
Serena nodded in agreement.
…
Sawyer released his next Pokemon Slurpuff. He instructed it to use Attract. Hearts circled Raichu and Raichu became attracted. Due to Attract, Raichu would not listen to any of Tierno's commands.
"Oh no!" Said Tierno.
"Use Energy Ball!"
The Energy Ball made clean contact with Raichu and when the smoke from the explosion cleared, Raichu was still in the effects of Attract. Having no choice, Tierno returned Raichu and released his trusty partner, Blastoise.
"So Blastoise is his next Pokemon… alright, Slurpuff use Attract!"
"Blastoise, it's time to dance!"
As the hearts went to circle around Blastoise, Blastoise danced around and spun so quickly, that the attack failed.
"Use Hydro Cannon!"
Blastoise sent out two Hydro Cannons. Slurpuff was unable to dodge then and was sent flying in the air. When it landed, it was revealed that Slurpuff had fainted.
The referee raised his arm. "Slurpuff is unable to battle, Blastoise is the winner!"
Sawyer returned Slurpuff. "Thank you, you deserve a nice long rest". He then looked up at the board. "Just one Pokemon left, it's all up to you Sceptile!"
Tierno smiled. "That Sceptile has some amazing moves, use Ice Beam!"
"Leaf Storm, Sceptile!"
The two attacked collided and canceled each other out, showing that each Pokemon was equally matched.
"Hydro Cannon!"
"Dodge, then Leaf Blade!"
Using its amazing speed, Sceptile was able to dodge the two Hydro Cannons and land a clean hit on Blastoise with Leaf Blade. Even though it was taken lots of damage, Blastoise was still standing.
Tierno commanded Blastoise to use Skull Bash. Blastoise jumped in the air and while it was coming towards Sceptile, Sawyer instructed his Pokemon to use Frenzy Plant. This attack sent Blastoise flying in the air.
"Blastoise no!" Tierno grunted. "Use Rain Dance!"
While it was in the air, Blastoise was able to use its final move before being knocked out.
"Blastoise is unable to battle, Sceptile is the winner!"
Tierno returned Blastoise. "Thank you, your Rain Dance will set us up for the next round…" Tierno then reached for his last Pokemon. "Raichu, let's rock!"
…
"They both only have one Pokemon left…" said Ash.
Clemont lifted his glasses which caused them to reflect in the sun. "I wonder why he called for the Rain Dance though…"
…
Tierno danced all around. 'Alright Raichu, use Thunder!"
…
"That's it!" Dawn and Clemont at the same time. They then both looked at each other. "Because using Thunder in the rain makes it's accuracy a sure thing!" They two laughed seeing how they had said the same thing at the same time.
"I knew that too…" whispered Ash.
…
Raichu was powering up its Thunder attack. Sawyer then reached for his notebook and on it was a familiar-looking stone.
"I've battled a lot and I've gained a lot of great experience, that is my strength!" Sawyer touched the stone which started to glow and Sceptile started to transform. "Sceptile, Mega Evolve!" This was Sawyer's secret weapon.
This caught Tierno off guard a little, but he knew he couldn't lose his focus. He called for the Thunder once more which made clean contact with Sceptile. But, it didn't work.
"When Sceptile Mega Evolves, its ability changes to Lightning Rod, also Thunder won't work on it," said Sawyer.
Tierno grunted in frustration.
"Use Dragon Claw!"
"Focus Blast, go!"
Sceptile was easily able to cut through the Focus Blast and hit Raichu with all its might. This attack was powerful, that it caused Raichu to faint.
The referee raised his arm. "Raichu is unable to battle! Sceptile wins! The winner of the match and moving onto the semi-finals is Sawyer!"
Tierno returned his Pokemon and thanked it. "Guess that's it for us… but we will cheer for the winner!"
…
Shauna was taken back.
"Oh, Tierno!"
Clemont looked over to Shauna. "I'd say Sawyer's passion overwhelmed Tierno. I think that made the difference"
Serena nodded. "And who knew that Sceptile could mega evolve!"
Ash smiled. "Sawyer had trained really hard to be here! I can't wait for our battle!"
Everyone turned their attention to the screen where the semi-final matchups were being decided. After the random shuffle, it was determined that Alain would be battling Remos in the first match, and Ash would be battling Sawyer. The announcer also described that each match was going to be a full 6 on 6 battle.
…
Ash, alongside Dawn, Clemont, Bonnie and Serena were walking down the stairs at sunset.
"Ash, what are you going to do about tomorrow? It's a full 6 on 6 battle and you only have 5 Pokemon…" asked Clemont.
They stopped. "Yeah you only have 5 Pokemon, you better figure something out!" Said Serena.
"Ah! What time is it?"
Dawn then told Ash the time and he suddenly ran off. Everyone was surprised but didn't have time to stay standing as they chased after Ash.
Ash finally stopped at the entrance to the Kalos League area. "He should be here any second…"
"Who are you talking about," asked Serena.
Dawn smiled. "Is it him?"
Ash turned to face the coordinator and nodded. Then, a car with a familiar Pokemon riding on the back was seen.
"Hey, Goodra!"
Goodra quickly jumped off the car and ran up to Ash to give him a hug. After releasing Goodra, Ash thanked Keanan for bringing Goodra.
"So Goodra is your 6th Pokemon…" said Clemont.
"Actually… I already decided back when we visited Goodra" explained Ash. He explained how he didn't know whether to bring back his old Pokemon to complete his team or to ask Keanan if Goodra would come with him. He said that after talking with Dawn, he decided that it would only be right if Goodra were to be the last member of his team. To which Goodra happily agreed.
Ash then released all of his Pokemon.
"There is no one else that can win the Kalos League like we can. I know we can do it. We will all beat Sawyer together!" Exclaimed Ash. His Pokemon cheered, showing just how confident they were.
After saying their goodbyes to Keanan, the group decided that they should head back to the Pokemon Center as it was getting late. Everyone started to walk off but Ash stayed back and turned to the sunset. Everyone else noticed this and stopped.
"I'll take care of this, you guys go on ahead," said Dawn. She then looked down at Piplup and Pikachu. "You guys take care of everyone else okay?" The Pokemon nodded.
Clemont and Bonnie nodded their heads but Serena still looked concerned.
Dawn gave her a reassuring smile. "No need to worry"
Serena knew that Dawn could reach Ash like no one else so she turned around and with the siblings, she walked on.
Dawn walked back to Ash. They both just stood there in silence watching the sunset.
"This is only my second time in the semi-finals, the first was in Sinnoh…" said Ash.
"I remember that that was an incredible battle"
Ash took a pause and then reached for his pocket. He opened his hand and there was Dawn's ribbon. "I've come a long way since then…" Ash then returned to Dawn and looked directly into her eyes. "But this time, I'm going to win"
Dawn could see the fire and determination in his eyes. She gave him a quick kiss on the cheek. "That's my Ash…"
They stood there looking at each other and appreciating the time alone they have. The sun could no longer be seen and the night was upon them.
"Come on, let's head back, we don't want the others to worry…" said Dawn.
Ash nodded, he then held her hands as the two walked off together.
Again, sorry for updating in so long. As much I like writing this story, I don't really like writing battle scenes. They are super important to the plot which is why I do them, but I like writing the scenes between characters a lot more. Anyways, I hope you are enjoying this story! Don't forget to write a review if you have any suggestions!
