Disclaimer: I own none ya characters.
Rapunzel smiled to herself as she reminisced about her night with Jack. She didn't know it was possible to love someone so much. Merida was probably tired of hearing so much about their romance, but she was the only person Rapunzel could gush to about it. It's not like their circumstances warranted her gabbing about how amazing her boyfriend is to everyone.
"Uh, Earth to Rapunzel?" Heather waved a pom pom in her face," Are you alive?"
"Hm?" Rapunzel looked at Heather," Oh uh- yes... I'm sorry."
Rapunzel focused her attention back towards her squad. She needed to get this guy out of her head and actually focus on her life.
"Sorry guys, let's go again", Rapunzel walked towards the squad.
"I think you're too distracted to be on top of the pyramid", Ana commented," Maybe I should take her place."
"The only place you'll be taking is the bench if I hear anothe word out of you", Rapunzel snapped at her. Ana glared back, but didn't say another word.
"Let's take it from the top!" Heather clapped," Ana, you're a spotter."
"What!" Ana yelled," I'm kicked out of the pyramid now?"
"I said you're a spotter", Heather told her, remaining calm," If you don't like it, you are more than welcome to sit out."
Ana huffed and walked away.
"You need to focus more", Heather turned to Rapunzel," I can't keep covering for your distactions forever... You're slipping and you know Ana feeds on it."
"I know", Rapunzel nodded her head," I promise I'll do better."
"Show me then", Heather smiled and bumped Rapunzel's hip with her own.
"Formation!" Rapunzel yelled. Soon Rapuzel was three people high in the air, and had her arms aimed high, her smile beaming. She felt in her element and forgot the feeling of how much she loved being on top of the pyramid. She could feel her knee buckeling and tried to steady herself.
"Rapunzel, focus", Heather called out to her.
"I'm trying!" she called out, her smile wavering. She saw the girl's grip underneath her feet starting to sleep.
"Steady me", Rapunzel called out to her.
"I'm slipping", she called out. Rapunzel's balance was gone. She felt herself falling backwards.
"Cradle!" she yelled just as she fell back.
Instead of feeling hands grab her, she felt her head hit against the ground, and everything went black.
"Please wake up... Please... I need you."
Rapunzel groaned as she opened her eyes against the burning sunlight. She blinked away the spots and looked around her. She was in the nurses wing and was alone. She looked around to see if anyone was around, but all she got was silence in return. She looked to the side of her bed and saw a huge bouget of purple flowers next to her bed. She had never seen the type of flower before, but they were breathtaking. She smiled and figured they were from Jack.
Jack.
Where was he? Surely he must know she hasn't been around. He must have visited her at some point. She looked over at the flowers and noticed a card attached to it, folded. She grabbed it and unfolded it.
You belong among the wildflowers
You will forever be my always
J
She smiled and held the note to her heart. She knew they were from him.
"Oh, you're awake!" Nurse Gothi came out of her office and smiled at Rapunzel.
"Awake? How long was I asleep?" Rapunzel asked with concern.
"Since yesterday after your fall", Gothi told her," It's 3pm now."
"What happened?" Rapunzel frowned.
"You fell of your pyramid", she told her," And it your hard very hard on the ground."
Rapunzel felt the back of her head and felt a large bump.
"Ow", she frowned and took away her hand.
"You've also sprained your knee so you are going to need crutches for a few days", she patted Rapunzel's shoulder.
"Great", Rapunzel mumbled and rolled her eyes. She fell back onto her bed and frowned.
"What happened to my spotter?" Rapunzel sat back up and looked at Gothi," I've fallen from that height before..."
"That is something better discussed with Dean Black when you leave", Gothi informed her," Why don't we work on getting you out of here."
"This is so uncomfortable", Rapunzel complained as her and Merida walked back to their room. The crutches were digging into Rapunzel's arms.
"It's just a few days", Merida shrugged. She was holding Rapunzel's flowers and her bag.
"What's going on with Jack?" Rapunzel was dying to see him.
"Jesus Christ, he's been driving me fucking crazy", Merida rolled her eyes causing Rapunzel to laugh.
"Why?" she smiled," What's been going on?"
"Well...", Merida started," I told him what happened to you after one of his classes because I saw you being brought into the nurse's office with your head wrapped up and I swear to God Punz... If I didn't think this guy was obsessed with you before, I sure as fuck do now. He flipped out and I had to run to keep up with him as he ran to the nurses office. He stormed in there and demanded to know what had happened to you and looked practically sick when he saw you."
"How did he pass off his concern?" Rapunzel questioned," No other teacher did that."
"He played it off as he is part of the sports department so he wanted to make sure all sport activities were being played safe."
"Not bad", Rapunzel chuckled," Hey, do you mind if I meet up with you later? I'm gonna try to find him."
"Yeah, yeah", Merida smiled and rolled her eyes," Go see lover boy before he dies of an anuerism."
Rapunzel shuffled up as fast as she could to Jack's bedroom door and knocked awkwardly.
"Yes?" she heard beyond the door.
"Special delivery", she called out and smiled to herself. She heard running footsteps and the door got thrown open.
"Rapunzel! You're okay!" he looked at her wide eyed and ran to embrace her, but she backed away.
His eyes went wide and he frowned," What's wrong?"
"I'm just a little fragile right now", she laughed at him," I sprained my knee."
"Come here", he walked towards her and gently picked her up. He carried her over to his bed and laid her down. He placed her crutches against the wall and then slinked into bed next to her.
"I was so scared", he said into her hair as he hugged her," I felt like my heart stopped."
She heard his voice crack and her heart almost did as well.
"Jack, I'm fine", she pulled is face to look at hers and smiled at him.
"I ran down there and saw your head wrapped up with blood staining the guaze... I'm not joking Rapunzel", he propped himself up on one elbow and looked over her. She saw tears brimming his eyes and her heart stopped," I thought you were dying. I didn't know what to do. Don't ever scare me like that again... I can't take it."
"Jack", she smiled and hugged him to her tightly," I'm not going anywhere... I promise."
"Rapunzel, you're here today so we can discuss what happened during your practice", Dean Black told her. She sat across from him at his desk. Heather was sitting next to her. Gothel was also there.
"I'm still not quite sure what happened to be honest", Rapunzel shrugged and looked at Heather," I lost my balance and fell backwards, but I wasn't caught."
"Exactly", Heather told her," You had to spotters back there, but Astrid couldn't catch you by herself. Ana let you fall."
Rapunzel frowned and looked away. This was how much Ana hated her? To purposely get her hurt? She could have been more injured than she was...
"So what's going to happen?" Rapunzel asked Dean Black.
"Well, after some discussion from Miss Heather and myself, she has been removed from the cheerleading team. She also has been suspended for two weeks and will not be able the Winter Ball, as well as serving a months worth of detention when she does come back."
Rapunzel nodded, taking in what he said. She deserved it. She deserved worse, but Rapunzel remembered the last time Ana and her got into a scrap and Jack broke them up. How she was too good to stoop to Ana's level.
"I agree with that punishment. Thank you Dean Black", Rapunzel addressed him with nothing but poise.
"Both yours and her parents have been informed of what has happened", he told her," But since you seem fine, I told your parents if anything worse happens, I will call them."
"Thank you", she thanked him again," May I be excused now?"
"Of course", Dean Black smiled at her," Heather, if you wouldn't mind staying. Ana is on her way up here."
"Sure", she nodded," Bye Punz."
Rapunzel waved and slowly left the office. As soon as she shut the door she became face to face with Ana.
"Excuse me", Rapunzel glared at her and waked past her. Ana quickly stood in front of her again.
"My life is ruined here now", Ana growled out," No thanks to you."
"You let me fall and hurt myself", Rapunzel snapped back," It's not my fault you were too stupid to figure out how to catch someone."
"It had nothing to do with knowing how to catch someone", Ana smirked and crossed her arms," I just wish you had hit your head harder."
"Regardess of what you wish, I'm here and on the team, and you're not", Rapunzel smirked at her," Your senior year being ruined is no one else's fault except your own."
Ana stepped towards her and glared," You better watch your back Corona... Because I'm not finished with you."
"You see..." Rapunzel smiled sweetly at her," I would care about what you say, and I would be nervous about your empty threat... But the problem is, is I don't value you as a person. You're nothing to me. So do what you want, because I don't value what someone says if I don't value them as a person."
Rapunzel pushed past her and felt a smile spread across her face. It doesn't matter what Ana would be planning. She can handle it.
There it is!
