Chapter 19

Rapunzel sighed and ran her hands through her hair what seemed like the hundredth time. She still didn't know how or what to say to Hiccup after he caught Jack and her the night prior during an unsavory time. She knew he would keep them a secret for his love for her as a friend and basically like a brother, but she knew he wouldn't look at her the same. Let alone his teacher who he really was fond of. Maybe talking about it with him, just the two of them would help things. It was easier with Merida. Merida was crazy and rebellious as it is. She knew Jack and Rapunzel liked each other before either one of them were ready to admit it. She sighed and finally decided it was time to leave the confines of her room. She reached for the doorknob to leave, but it opened before she had a chance.

"Oh, hey", Rapunzel sighed as she saw Merida.

"Hey!" Merida walked in to grab a notebook she had forgotten," You and Frost have a good night last night?"

Rapunzel smirked," You know we did. Everything was fine and great until I woke up this morning and remember what happened last night."

Merida frowned and sympathetically patted Rapunzel's shoulder," It'll be alright.. I talked to him a bit about it, but I know he's still not understanding. I think you need to talk to him about it yourself."

"Well, yeah", Rapunzel rolled her eyes," Now to just get the courage to actually do that."

"You can do it", Merida shrugged, heading towards their door," If you have the courage to fuck your professor, you can have the courage to talk to you life long friend."

"Merida!" Rapunzel chased after her," That's not funny!"

"Hiccup, can we talk?" Rapunzel found him sitting outside, near a pond. She could see Hiccup's shoulders tense and his fists clenched.

"I suppose", he choked out. Rapunzel went over and sat next to him, but not too close. She could feel his aura practically vibrating with tension.

"What do you want to talk about?" Hiccup stared at the pond, refusing to look at her.

Rapunzel took a deep breath and stared out as well," You know what... About Jack and I."

"Jack and you. Jack. Not Professor Overland anymore, huh?" he grunted out.

"Yes! Jack and I", she looked at him," There is a Jack and I. And I'm sorry you found out the way you did, but you have to understand why I wouldn't tell you before."

" I just don't understand Rapunzel!" Hiccup raised his voice. Something Rapunzel rarely saw and it actually took her aback.

" I don't understand how you two even began seeing each other in a romantic way! He's your teacher for christ's sake! How many other teachers have you thought of this way? Do you do this with every male teacher? Or did he start forcing himself on you?"

" Hiccup!" Rapunzel teared up," How dare you imply I am a sleeze! I have never done this with any other teacher, and no! He would never force himself on me! He's attractive Hiccup! And smart, and kind. He is sweet and loving. He makes me feel like I'm the most beautiful girl alive. I love him Hiccup! I will never not love him."

Hiccup stayed silent for awhile, thinking over her words. She knew he didn't mean what he said, but it still hurt her nonetheless.

" When did you two first start?" he asked.

" The night of the concert", Rapunzel answered confidently," Before he let me join you guys on stage was when we first kissed."

" When did you first sleep together?"

" The night of the talent show", she answered quietly.

" That song you wrote for that", he asked," That was for him wasn't it?"

" Yes."

" What happened to make you write that?"

Rapunzel sighed and felt her heart crack thinking of the time where Jack and her weren't together," I was mad at him for turning me away the night of the concert, because I went back to his room. I sent a note to Dean Black that he was sleeping with a student and he found out. He was furious with me and wouldn't talk to me. He also thought it was better for us to end things before they got complicated. It hurt so much Hiccup."

Rapunzel started to tear up.

" It hurt so much seeing him everyday and not being able to be with him. Knowing how much he hated me for what I did. I loved him even then. So I wrote that song because I didn't know what else to do. He finally listened to me and we made up", Rapunzel finally looked at her friend and he was staring into her tear soaked eyes. His eyes mirroring with tears that were threatening to fall.

" I love him, Hiccup. More than I am capable of. Please understand that we have tried to stay away from each other, but it hurts us too much. We plan on finally being public after I graduate, but until then, things need to be under wraps. I am sorry I didn't tell you and you found out the way you did. I just hope you can forgive me."

Rapunzel was getting up to leave when Hiccup grabbed her wrist. She looked back at her friend who was giving her a small smile back. He pulled her in for a hug to which she gladly accepted.

" I love you Punz", he said in her ear," If you're this happy and this in love, I won't stand in the way. I'll be there for you."

" Thank you."

" You look happy", Rapunzel looked up and saw Jack standing over her. Hiccup went back inside a little while ago, but the sun looked so nice against the pond, Rapunzel decided to stay outside to admire it. She was currently sitting against a tree. Jack sat down next to her, a decent space in between since they were out in public, but close enough to make her happy.

" I feel happy", she smiled at him and then back at the lake," I was actually thinking up a new song."

" Oh?" he smiled," I take it things with Hiccup went okay?"

" They did", she nodded," I think he thinks it's still weird, but he'll come around."

" I think so too", Jack agreed," So! When do I get to hear this new song?"

"Soon", she stood and smiled, holding her hand out to him.

" Alright students, calm down!" Dean Black raised his voice in the mic and gestured for everyone to calm down," I know we're excited to see a spontaneous performance from our very own band 'The Drowning People', but we need to calm down.

Rapunzel walked out onto the stage wearing a pair of converse, her blue skinny jeans, black tank top, and her acoustic guitar. Merida walked over to her drums, and Hiccup went to a piano. Rapunzel also enlisted the help of the fellow musicians in the school band for help for this performance.

"Alright guys", Rapunzel smiled into the mic. She looked and saw Jack beaming at her near the front of the auditorium," I wrote this song recently about a really special guy in my life. I hope you all love it as much as I love him."

The school whooped and hollered at her making Rapunzel laugh. She looked over and saw Jack snickering too.

Rapunzel whispered into the mic, " 1, 2, 3, 4,..."
