After the events surrounding Miranda, it's up to Zoe to tell Wash's mother. One shot.

Just left all alone. She didn't want to be alone, where was her Mal? He was gone, just like the rest of them. Why did they just leave her here? It wasn't fair. She wanted to go with them. She loved all of them, she was with them, all of them for so long. It didn't matter where they went, she'd always be with them. "You know, I named you after her who was named after a battlefield."

AFTER THE BDM Kaylee did make Simon her lover at the end of the BDM, but he would remain distracted by his sister and at any rate is much more repressed than Kaylee. Although he did not come out until well after the movie, Sean Maher did allow his personal sexuality to show a little during the movie.

"Umm. Actually." the doctor continued. "could I take advantage of you?"

This chapter takes place between "Safe" when Simon really started to notice Kaylee and "Our Mrs. Reynolds". Your idea of "It's been a while." may vary from that of a healthy thirtysomething man. Two weeks? Two months?

Follows Still Inappropriate. May/Kaylee the next morning. This is turning into a novel. Or at least a novella. I've been calling it Fleurs de Mal, because I like bilingual puns. Some of the chapter titles refer to the language of flowers. Yeah. I've always been this pretentious.

Inara suddenly decides to leave Serenity and Mal wants to know why. One-shot Mal/Inara. Total Fluff!

Simon and River's parents are dead, and they have to come home.

Serenity's crew continues to wander the 'verse looking for jobs, but they run into a new enemy who continually tries to end their lives. This mysterious person impersonates Inara and tries to frame her, leaving Mal and his crew to sort out the mess in front of them.
