Jade: The Birthweek Song

Since the moment Jade said goodbye to Beck this morning at the airport she missed him. She would never tell anyone that, but without him she felt like a part of her was missing. This week would be a lonely one. Sure, she had Cat and maybe even the rest of the group, but with Beck she could completely be herself because he loved all sides of her. No one understood her better than her boyfriend and without him around she felt lonely even when her group surrounded her at lunch. After a while she couldn't take their happy chatter anymore and walked away from them. How she wished he was here and not in Canada.

The week was annoying to say the least. Why would she help Vega find a birthday present for Trina? The only thing that would really be useful to her would be some talent. Jade had to smile when Beck texted her that Tori had asked him what to get Trina and he had answered her she should get her a new voice. It wasn't the first time that they almost thought the same thing, but it never failed to make her smile. However her smile vanished when she found herself missing him even more while she thought about that. When he had told her about going to Canada she had been not only angry but sad as well because she knew she would miss him like crazy. She didn't tell him that so she wouldn't make it any harder for him to leave, because she knew he wanted to see his relatives, especially his grandparents.

When Wednesday evening came around it was finally time for them to video chat. The moment Beck's face showed up on her laptop she couldn't help but smile. Her boyfriend being the sap that he was told her immediately how much he missed her. She didn't admit it to him but it was good to hear him say those words. It showed her that he really loved her if he already missed her after only two days of not seeing her. Almost everyone they knew didn't understand why they were still together, but they didn't know them. One of the few people who saw what they shared were Cat and Beck's grandparents and Jade was glad that they supported their relationship. Speaking of his grandparents, when they had talked for ten minutes Beck's grandma knocked on the door and entered the room.

"Are you speaking to Jade?" That was definitely the voice of the older woman. When Beck nodded Jade heard her again. "Can I talk to her for a second?"

"Sure."

What many people wouldn't think was that Jade didn't mind talking to Beck's grandma, she like the old woman and smiled when her face showed up next to Beck's. They talked for a few minutes about Jade's new script and how she was doing at Hollywood Arts, before the old woman excused herself again.

"You know, maybe I actually like three people in Canada."

It was her way of telling him what she was feeling and Beck immediately smiled at her, understanding what she meant by that.

They talked for half an hour about what happened at Hollywood Arts, about Trina's crazy birthweek and of course Jade had to tell him about Robbie's grandma disturbing a lesson with a video chat and making Robbie cry due to it. Jade still found that highly amusing and she saw that even Beck couldn't stop a small chuckle from escaping.

Beck was just complimenting her outfit, consisting of his shirt and black jeans because she always loved to wear his clothes when he was away, when Cat bursted into her room. Jade rolled her eyes, her brother probably let her in. Cat sat down next to her and started talking about how Robbie's grandma hated her.

"Well not everyone can be as good with grandparents as I'm." Jade smirked.

While Cat seemed confused Beck understood exactly what she meant and gave her a bright smile. It didn't seem like Cat was going to leave any time soon, so Jade told her that she should go into the kitchen and make her coffee and then they could talk. When Cat was gone for the moment Jade knew she had to say goodbye to Beck and it made her sad. It was rare of her to tell Beck she loved him but when he told her first she reciprocated it with the same words and his smile was worth the trouble of saying it.

The moment Jade ended the video chat Cat entered her room again and Jade was a little thankful that her best friend didn't give her time to be sad about it or miss Beck even more than she already did. During the rest of the week Cat kept her mostly busy by complaining about Robbie's grandma until he finally cut a wire so his grandma would stop calling him all the time.

When it was finally Sunday and it was time to drive to the airport to pick up Beck, Jade was excited. The moment she saw him she couldn't help but smile. Not caring that his parents were watching she kissed him deeply and didn't even let go of him when they parted. He was finally back and she couldn't be more happy to have her other half here with her again. Needless to say, she spent her Sunday night in his arms.

Beck: The Birthweek Song

Was it possible to already miss a person when you had them right next to you? Jade was laying in his arms sleeping and Beck could already feel how much he was going to miss her. Tomorrow morning he would fly to Canada to visit his relatives with his parents. When he had told Jade about it she had been angry that he left her here with his idiotic friends, her words not his, but he knew that she was sad as well. He would be home in a week but it was still a long time to be away from each other and despite liking his family and Canada he wished he could take her with him. Sighing he tightened his arms around her waist a little and pulling her closer before he finally tried to sleep.

Seven hours later in the early morning Jade drove the Olivers to the airport. Beck sat in the front next to his girlfriend, holding her hand almost the whole time. His parents hadn't been too happy that Jade would drive them, but hadn't declined her offer in the end and Beck was glad to spend a little more time with her. When they arrived at the airport Beck asked his parents to go ahead because he wanted to say goodbye to Jade. They nodded and left the car with their suitcases and Beck turned to his girlfriend. He knew Jade wasn't fond of emotional goodbyes with tears and all, so he wasn't surprised that she just told him to not flirt with any Canadian girls while he was away. The soft kiss they shared however showed him that she was going to miss him and that she was sad that he wouldn't be by her side for a week.

When he saw how happy his relatives were that he visited them, he was glad that he had decided to come with his parents to Canada. He had to smiled brightly when he learned that he was staying with his grandparents while his parents would stay at his aunt's house. His grandparents were the only ones of his family that were supportive of his relationship with Jade, so it didn't surprise him when on the way to their house his grandma asked him about his girlfriend. When he told her that he was still with Jade she smiled at him and said that she was happy for him.

The moment he entered the room he was staying in, memories of a year ago flowed his mind. When Jade and him had already been a couple for a year he had taken her with him to Canada, much to her protest. First she hadn't liked Canada all that much and she had thought that he had kept that he was Canadian a secret, but in the end she reluctantly agree to come with him. She had told him that it was a bad idea from the beginning and that his family would hate her, but he hadn't listened to her. True to her words what she had said had happened. His family hadn't been fond of the mean girl dressed in black, with one exception, his grandparents. They had immediately offered that Beck and Jade could stay with them and after a few discussions with his parents they had been allowed to stay the summer over at their house.

When they had met up with the rest of his relatives to meals or to go fishing or for other occasions no one had ever even tried to get to know Jade or talk to her, except for his grandparents. Jade had also taken a liking to them shortly after they had made the effort to really get to know her. Even Beck had been surprised when he had found Jade helping his grandma prepare dinner for them the day after they had arrived. When the four had sat together for dinner and his grandpa had asked Jade about her art the remaining ice was broken. His girlfriend's eyes had light up at the question and she had told them about her newest script and to his surprise the horror genre hadn't shocked them. From then on his grandparents had done their best to include Jade into their family, but the rest of his relatives had still been against his relationship with Jade. When the summer had ended and they had to go home his grandparents had hugged Jade goodbye and she had even reciprocated the gesture and seemed genuinely sad that she had to say goodbye to them.

Beck's thoughts were interrupted by his grandma knocking on his door and entering the room shortly after.

"You're already missing her, aren't you." It was more a statement than a question and Beck nodded, glad that even if Jade wasn't here he could at least talk about her with his grandparents.

During the week he video chatted two times with Jade and tried to text her as often as he could, but his parents insisted that he should spend his time with his relatives and not talking on the phone to his girlfriend. During the whole week Jade let him know what was happening at Hollywood Arts, so he wasn't missing the important things, but it didn't help him miss her any less. It was almost like a part of him was missing. Seeing her during their chats couldn't compare to having her in his arms and being able to kiss her.

After a week that felt too long for only seven days he was finally back and he smiled the brightest he had for the last few days when he saw her waiting for him at the airport. She looked annoyed to be surrounded by so many excited loud talking people, but when she saw him her eyes light up and she smiled. The moment he reached her his lips met hers in a passionate kiss, he had missed her so much. When they pulled away for a few seconds to catch their breaths he told her how much he had missed her and when she only answered him that she knew and kissed him again he knew she had missed him just as much. Finally he had her back in his arms and could feel whole again.
