Beck: Tori The Zombie
When the cast list for the new play was published Beck knew that Jade wouldn't be happy about it. Most of the time it was her and him who got the lead together. Not only were they both good actors, but they had chemistry on stage just as much as they had in real life. Sikowitz had once said that they had a connection that was very special and that the audience could see it when they stood on stage together. It was even worse that Tori was his partner for the play and they were supposed to act like they were in love with each other.
Hesitantly he looked over to his girlfriend who was reading the cast list. He saw a frown on her face and the disappointment she tried to hide behind an angry look. He knew it wouldn't help if he told her that she at least got the second best female role, so he just softly rubbed her arm and offered to buy her coffee. During their lunch break she complained to him about being more suitable for the role and that she clearly would have been the better choice, obviously everyone who couldn't see that was stupid. When she calmed down and was only stabbing her salad with her fork, he asked a question that had bothered him since he saw the cast list.
"Are you okay with me playing Tori's partner?"
After all the things that had happened since Tori entered Hollywood Arts he just had to make sure that she was alright with it. He had awaited a sarcastic remark or even her going back to being angry, but what she said after a long sigh surprised him.
"I'm not happy about it, but I would never take the opportunity to act in a play from you only because I don't like seeing you with the female lead, even if it's Tori."
After her words he couldn't help but lean over and kiss her. They both loved art so much and they shared their passion for it. Knowing how important it was to him, Jade put his interests before her own and that was what real love was about. He meant so much to her that she was alright with him being so close to Tori during the play, even though he had put her through so much pain by kissing Tori a few weeks ago. She never stopped to amaze him. When they pulled away he smiled at her.
"Thanks, babe."
"Yeah whatever. Just make sure she isn't drooling over you the whole time and ruins the play with it."
With that resolved between them, they could fully focus on the play, if it wasn't for their director who was a nervous wreck after they heard that Sophia Michelle would come to watch the play. The director spent most of his time running around uselessly or he was in the bathroom, so Jade had taken control of the play. Beck had always known that his girlfriend would be a good director, so he wasn't surprised that she did a better job than Marty. Despite her obvious dislike for Tori, she gave her good tips and didn't treat her any different than the other actors. Seeing that she manage to direct the play and still pull her own role off, made him proud and two nights before the premiere he told her exactly that when they spent the night at his RV.
Beck knew praise and appreciation were things that meant a lot to Jade, so he only smiled when his girlfriend blushed and almost shyly thanked him. Her mother tried to do her best to give Jade the support she needed, but she had to work a lot, so she hardly ever managed to see her daughter's plays and Jade's father wasn't even an option. Beck had learned, after he had already dated Jade for half a year, that her father was against her passion for art and never praised anything she did. Knowing that, he made sure to tell her how proud he was of her and was promptly rewarded with a kiss from his girlfriend.
Despite having almost alone directed the play, Jade didn't took credit for it. Beck knew that all that mattered to her was that the play had been a success and that Sophia Michelle had liked it, even though it had turned out differently. However Jade wouldn't be Jade if she didn't at least insult Marty, but Beck had to admit that the scarf was really hideous. Later when Sophia Michelle praised their version of her play he saw Jade's eyes sparkle at her words. The play writer was one of his girlfriend's favorites when it came to writing scripts, so it surely meant a lot to Jade. He had to stop a grin from showing on his face when he saw Jade dance happily to Sinjin's disco music. He had an amazing girlfriend, who he not only loved because she was beautiful, but because she had a great character as well.
Jade: Tori The Zombie
If Jade was something, it was brutally honest, no matter if it was to others or herself, so she had to admit that she was disappoint that she didn't get the lead. Even more annoying was that Tori had gotten the role and would play alongside Beck. However the worst thing had to be working with Marty as a director. If he showed up and didn't lock himself away in the bathroom for hours, he was completely useless. After two catastrophic rehearsals she took charge of the play, which was the reason the principal sent her the mail that Sophia Michelle was coming to the premiere. If Marty was useless before, he was broken now. For the next rehearsals she was the one to call the shots and work on the scenes with the actors. Sophia Michelle was a great script writer and Jade didn't want to disappoint her only because their director was a nervous wreck.
The evening before the premiere Jade spent with Beck in his RV. They weren't really watching the movie all that much and were more focused on each other when someone rang the doorbell of the RV. Annoyed Jade pulled away from her kiss with Beck and screamed at the door a not so nice demand to go away. Beck shook his head amused and stood up to let whoever was in front of the door inside. She wasn't happy when Andre entered, but when she saw the pizza in his hands she decided that he could stay, at least until she had eaten. Beck and her sat down on his bed, her leaning comfortably on him, when Beck asked Andre why he was here and with pizza none the less.
"Well I was rehearsing with Tori and then went to get pizza. When I came back her, Cat and Trina were fighting so I went right back out the door."
"Who wouldn't leave with these three around." Jade nodded.
When Beck asked what they were fighting about and Andre said it was about Cat turning Tori into an ugly zombie, Jade smirked. Hopefully Cat would post some photos of Tori like this on The Slap, so everyone could see little miss perfect like that. If her mood was good before because she was spending her time with her boyfriend it was awesome now. Little did she know that Tori's make up accident would almost ruin the play.
The next day for their general rehearsal Marty surprisingly managed to stay during most of it without constantly running to the bathroom. Jade didn't even want to know how much of his pills he had taken to calm himself down. When half an hour before the play, Tori still looked awful Jade got nervous and even offered to take Tori's role, so Sophia Michelle wouldn't be disappointed in how they performed her play.
In the end thankfully everything turned out alright and she was so relieved that she even danced to Sinjin's weird disco music. She was about to dance with Beck when Lane pulled her aside. He had helped with the play as well when Marty's absence had become more obvious. Jade's eyes widened when Lane told her that he had explained to Sophia Michelle that it was her who had mostly directed the play and not Marty and that she was waiting outside for her. Lane wasn't Jade's biggest fan, so it surprised her that he had done something like this for her. When she asked him why he did that for her, he smiled.
"I may not find your attitude the best and I'm surely not alright with your behavior most of the time, but with this play you really did good and if it weren't for you we would have done awfully today. It's only right that you get the appreciation you deserve for it."
Jade was speechless for a moment before Lane gently pushed her outside where Sophia Michelle was waiting for her. They didn't really talk for long, it was mostly Sophia Michelle telling her that she did a good job in directing her play and that hopefully she would see her on Broadway with one of her own plays one day. Of course the praise meant a lot to her, but Beck's praise yesterday meant still more to her. Hearing it from one of her favorite script writers was great, no doubt about it, but hearing that the person, who she loved, was proud of her meant even more. When she entered the Blackbox Theater again and saw Beck immediately met her eyes, she couldn't help but smile. Going over to him she gave him a small kiss and he lay an arm around her, while they listened to their friend discussing where they should go for dinner to celebrate their successful play.
