Beck: Beck's Big Break
The actors around him, who looked all older than him and surely had more experience as well, made him nervous but Beck wasn't about to let anyone know that. Jade, who he had brought with him to the audition, however knew him like no one else and seemed to know exactly how he was feeling. Softly she lay a hand over his tensed hand and squeezed lightly.
"Babe, if they don't pick you they're idiots. Don't worry so much."
Beck smiled a little at that. Jade knew how to cheer him up in her own way. She was the one who had rehearsed with him all weekend. Even if it was only a sentence, he had the chance to play in a movie alongside Melinda Murray so he had wanted to be prepared. If he would get the role, and he really hoped that he would, he would probably see Jade instead of Melinda when he would play the scene, because they both had rehearsed it so many times together. It hadn't been surprising that Jade had acted very well as the guest who was annoyed at the waiter.
After a few of the guys got their chance, it was Beck's turn and he was called inside. Jade smiled reassuringly at him and squeezed his hand one last time before letting go of it. Nervously he entered the room and saw three people sitting in front of him. Who seemed to be the director told him to perform the scene. They had set the scene with a table and on it sat a couple. When the girl delivered her line he walked over and acted his part. After he was done he couldn't read the expression on the faces of the others in the room, except for the dreamy look that the girl he had acted with gave him. The director told him that they would call him if he got the part and he went back out.
It was good to see Jade waiting for him outside and he greeted her with a kiss. He felt more relax, because now all he could do was wait if he would get the part. Inviting her to a coffee in return for coming with him, they made their way to a small cafe nearby. Of course Jade wanted to know how it went and Beck told her every little detail with the exception of the girl swooning over him. It felt great to have her by his side and support him. Sure, his parents supported him as well, but Jade shared his love for art and could understand how much it meant to him. Having her with him during his casting had given him more confidence and it had really helped him that she had rehearsal his scene with him. If he got the role it was partly thanks to her.
A week after his audition he got a phone call in the morning and he couldn't be happier. Getting ready faster than usual, he drove to a coffee shop and bought Jade an extra large coffee the way she loved it. When he picked her up for school with the coffee in hand and a bright grin on his face, Jade immediately knew what was going on.
"You got the role, don't you?" When his grin got even wider Jade pulled him into a passionate kiss. The moment they pulled away she smiled at him. "I'm so proud of you."
These words meant more to him than if they had come from the most famous actor of all times. Her opinion meant everything to him and he was happy to hear that she was proud of him. He couldn't help but pull her into another kiss and it took them a while until they finally drove to school.
When it was time for his first day on set he had to get up early. He was surprised to find Jade waking him up with a coffee. Sure, she had stayed the night, but she loved her sleep and normally she wasn't the first one to get up. When he asked her about it she smirked at him.
"I just wanted to make sure that you wouldn't chicken out."
This was her way of giving him support and he smiled at her and kissed her good morning before getting ready. She silently sat on his bed watching him with a cup of her own coffee in hand. When it was time for him to leave she gave him a small kiss.
"Show them." Was her goodbye to him and he felt more confident.
His first day on set was exhausting to say the least. When he entered the class later his eyes immediately found Jade's and they shared a small smile. The moment he was done with telling everyone about his morning, he offered his classmates to come with him and be extras on set, but his eyes were only on Jade while he offered that. She had supported him through this and the least he could do was get her a role in a movie with Melinda Murray. When he had heard that they still needed extras he had immediately thought of telling her, so she would be by his side in the movie.
The next day when it was finally time for his scene, he felt that with Jade here nothing could go wrong.
Jade: Beck's Big Break
When Tori got Beck fired Jade immediately went after him. He had worked so hard to get this opportunity and now, because of Vega, he had lost it again. When Jade stepped outside the first thing she saw was Tori apologizing to Beck. Jade rolled her eyes. An apology wouldn't give her boyfriend his role back. If Tori was really sorry she should go back inside and clear up what she had done. To Jade's dismay Beck offered to drive Tori home, so the three sat quietly in the car on their way to the Vegas. Normally Jade would have given Tori a piece of her mind, but she didn't want to upset Beck anymore than he already was.
When they finally left Vega at her house and made it back to the RV, Jade slowly saw Beck's cool demeanor change. Jade knew that Beck was such a good friend that he didn't want Tori to see that he was clearly upset about losing the role due to her, but now that they were alone he didn't need to act like everything was alright. The moment Beck sat down on his bed Jade joined him and lay her arms around him while he buried his face in her hair. Jade wasn't done with Vega, but for now she would only focus on being there for her boyfriend.
The next day during lunch she finally couldn't control her anger at Vega anymore and told her to fix what she had done. She didn't want Beck to act like everything was okay so she stood up, knowing he would follow her away from Tori and Andre. When Beck joined her at a table in the far corner of the Asphalt Cafe she sighed deeply.
"Vega better fix this or I'm doing it."
Thankfully Tori got Beck his role back, so everyone except for Melinda Murray was back on set a few days later. They had quickly found a replacement, because the director had already played often enough with the idea to replace the annoying female lead. The rest of their group was back to being extras, even Tori who was still known as Crystal Waters to the people on set. When they took a break Jade was surprised when the director came over to her and asked her if he could speak to her alone. Jade nodded and when they were out of earshot he spoke up.
"A good friend of mine is directing a new movie and is still searching for a minor female role. I read his script and after watching you on set I think that you would fit in. Are you alright with me suggesting you to him?"
Jade was positively shocked by the suggestion and they exchanged contact details. When she saw Beck talking excitedly to the rest of the group she decided that she wouldn't tell them about her opportunity for now. This was Beck's big break and she didn't want to take the spot light away from him.
They had to shoot the scene with Beck only two more times before the director was content with it. Without Melinda Murray everyone seemed to be happier and more productive. Even though they technically didn't need to be on set any more, the director offered them to stay for the rest of the day, so they could see a real movie in the making. Of course they agreed and spent their whole Saturday there.
In the evening they all went out for dinner together to celebrate Beck's role and of course that they all would be in a real movie. When Jade saw how happy her boyfriend was she smiled lovingly at him. She was proud of him and even though it was only a small role, he had done great. The moment Beck seemed to feel her eyes on him he turned to her and their eyes met. After a few seconds he leaned down and gave her a small kiss before laying an arm around her and pulling her closer to his side. They often had these silent conversation and Jade was glad that she had found someone who understood her so well.
On Monday Jade had almost forgotten about the job offer. Directors promised a lot and later didn't even remember that they had said, so she hadn't really awaited the phone call that she got before school. To her utter surprised the director of Beck's movie had kept his word and had told his friend about her and now he wanted to mail her a few of her lines so she could come this afternoon to audition. It was on very short notice, but Jade was confident that she would managed to lean her lines and get into character for her role in time for the audition. She had to smile when she saw that the director had been right, the role was fitting for her.
The audition went well and only a few hours after she had auditioned she got a call that she had the role. She was excited about it, but she still didn't want to tell anyone. Beck with his role was still the number one topic in Hollywood Arts and she didn't want to take away his fame. He had worked hard for his role and if it hadn't been for him, she wouldn't even have the chance to get the role she had now. Until Beck's movie would have its premiere in a few weeks, she would keep quiet about it and leave the spot light to him, after all he really deserved it.
Jade's plan to keep her role a secret however failed when Sikowitz asked her in front of the whole class how the movie she was starring in was coming along a week after she got the role. She hadn't known that Sikowitz knew, but she should have thought about it. Everyone in Hollywood had connections who told them about something like that. She felt everyone's eyes on her and tried to casually answer Sikowitz that it was going okay. When she made it clear that she wouldn't reveal anything more the attention turned back to Sikowitz with one exception, Beck. She knew that she had to explain to him why she hadn't told him and when the bell rang she pulled him into the janitor's closet.
"Why didn't you tell me?" Was the first thing Beck asked her. The hurt look in his eyes almost broke her heart. She never meant to hurt him, all she had tried to do was the exact opposite.
"You were so happy about your movie and I didn't want to take that away from you. I didn't want any attention when you deserved it so much more. All I was trying to do was-"
That was the moment Beck interrupted her with a kiss. When they had pulled away he told her that he loved her and knew what she was trying to do. Jade was glad that he understood why she hadn't told him. She cared deeply for him and never wanted to be the one who hurt him.
When they left the janitor's closet and went over to their lunch table Beck proudly told everyone about her role and she couldn't be more happier about it. It meant a lot to her that he was proud of her. They both supported each other with their art and understood the others passion about it, so what more could she ask for.
