Time passed as the group found themselves at graduation. They all stood there in their caps and gowns smiling as all their families took pictures and cheered them on. Josh stood there with Aiden in his arms both smiling and clapping for Maya. "Look at your mommy," Josh whispered to his son. "Isn't she beautiful?" Kissing the side of his son's head he whispered, "And I am so proud of her."
Josh looked on as he watched his niece and her boyfriend take pictures together with big, bright smiles on their faces. Riley's joy was unmatched as you could see her laughter and smile were as bright as ever. "Alright you guys," Cory called out as he looked at his now former students. "We should wrap things up here so we can beat the crowds leaving." He turned to his wife and muttered, "I'm telling you these parents are crazy Topanga." Topanga laughed and gently patted her husbands back as they began to walk out of the auditorium.
Maya looked around at all her friends as they shared a knowing look of what to do next. Walking through the empty halls of Abigail Adams High School they made their way into the familiar and empty classroom. Standing in the doorway Maya felt Riley's hand slip into hers as they took their last steps inside. Farkle, Zay, and Lucas followed in behind them smiling sadly. Sitting in their usual spots they took a deep breath and looked around at each other. "So this is it huh?" Lucas asked.
"The end of an era," Zay finished.
"Are we all really going to go our separate ways in less than a month?" Farkle dared to ask.
"Yeah we are," Maya answered. "And I'm not going to lie. That is terrifying. You're all leaving me here. I don't what I'd do without you guys."
"We'll always be here for you. That's never gonna change." Riley said as she held Maya's hand.
Silence fell upon them for a moment before Charlie's voice broke their silence as he and Missy entered the classroom. "There in here! I told you we'd fine them." Charlie and Missy slid into two desks in the back and smiled at the group. "Taking it all in?"
"More like saying good bye," Missy analyzed. "Am I right?"
"More like spot on Ms. Bradford." Every graduate in the room turned to the front as Cory walked in and stood in front of his desk. "I figured when you guys weren't in the parking lot that I'd find you here."
"You got one more lesson for us Mr. Matthews?" Farkle asked.
Cory shook his head and looked at his former students. "Not a lesson. Just advice. There's nothing left for me to teach you. Look around you." The teens looked around at each other as their teacher spoke. "You all have found so much. You've found each other and even made some new friends along the way," he said with a pointed look at Charlie and Missy. "And some might even be missing graduation because they've already taken a leap on life." Farkle smiled to himself thinking of Smackle who was across the world doing research for an international school she decided to go attend.
"You guys will always have each other. Life is too crazy to go through it alone. It's good to have people that you can call home," Cory finished.
"Thanks dad," Riley said softly.
Cory smiled at his daughter and looked amongst the new grads. "Now come on! We've got to go to your graduation party!"
The rooftop on the Matthews building was bustling with family and friends alike as they all gathered to celebrate. The rooftop was decorated beautifully as music played and everyone danced and talked. Looking around against the red brick were pristine white streamers and twinkling lights. "You did pretty good Mrs. Matthews," Maya commented as she walked around on the roof.
Smiling, Topanga took her hand. "Thank you. I hoped you'd like it." Drink in her other hand she took a sip. "You know I'm very proud of you. One mother to another I know that raising a child is no easy feat. Let alone while trying to graduate high school. You should be very proud of yourself."
Maya's pale cheeks flushed into a soft pink as she took in the compliment. "Thank you."
"Of course. Just remember that you deserve everything good in this world. Don't let it pass you by." Topanga gave her hand one last squeeze before walking off towards her daughter.
Maya and suddenly felt a warm hand on her lower back. "Hey gorgeous," Josh greeted with a kiss. "Overwhelmed yet?"
Maya shook her head and leaned into Josh's touch. "Nope. Not yet. Where's Aiden?"
"With your parents. They wanted to steal some time with him before my mom becomes a baby hog again."
Maya laughed quietly to herself and looked around. "I can't believe it's all over. Not to say that I will miss high school itself but we're all going our separate ways. We're becoming actual adults." Turning around to face her boyfriend she said, "We were literal children when we had Aiden. That's so insane to me. I wouldn't change a thing but still. It just blows my mind that I gave birth to a literal human before graduating high school."
Josh laughed wrapped his arms around Maya's waist. "Come on," he whispered. "I want to show you something."
Josh led Maya downstairs and they soon found themselves very far away from the party. "Josh we can't just leave the party. Riley's mom worked so hard and Aiden is still up there-"
"We'll be back soon I promise. Just trust me here." Josh had Maya close her eyes as he led her all the way to a very empty yet well lit Topanga's. Carefully leading her to the center of the room Josh instructed her to stand there and to wait for him to say she could open her eyes. Taking a few steps back from his girl, Josh smiled. "Okay now open your eyes."
Maya's blue eyes fluttered open as she her breath was immediately taken away. Surrounded by dozens of candles Maya was illuminated beautifully. Her white graduation dress became even more fitting for the occasion. Her blonde hair was curled perfectly around her face making her look soft and angelic. Amazed at the glow around her, Maya looked ahead to see Josh smiling at her. "Josh I-"
Cutting her off Josh began to speak. "I don't have this big speech prepared because I know you don't really like the mushy gushy stuff but I just want to lead with this. I love you and I love our son and I love our little life together. You said that life is changing fast and you're right it is but I want life to change with you by my side as my wife." Josh slowly began to get down on his knee. "Will you marry me?"
A flood of emotions ran through Maya's body in that instant but one emotion remained consistent throughout. Love. "That is such a stupid question," Maya laughed through a few of her tears. "Of course I'll marry you."
A ginormous smile broke out on Josh's face as he stood and slipped the ring on Maya's left hand. Pulling her in for a kiss he smiled into it. "I love you so much," he whispered. "You are the best thing that has every happened to me."
Maya's only response was to kiss him and just let him know how much she truly did love him. Through the good times and bad they've managed to make it through and she was nothing short of positive that their life together would be amazing.
A/N: That was the last official chapter of Positive! There will be an epilogue that wraps everything up and gives a glimpse of what life looks like for these characters later. I hope you enjoyed!
