Six months later. Sonata opens her eyes. In her room, she sat up and scowled at the sun. "Another day." She hears jibberish on the baby monitor. " They do not stay asleep for long." She snatched the covers off herself and went to the baby's room. She walks in, hearing more baby voices. Ginharu and Gintosu are at the edge of their cribs, lying side by side. It looks like they are talking to each other. Sonata giggles.
"Good morning... I heard you two talking to each other. What are you two planning for today? Whatever it is, save it for daddy. Peek-a-boo! The twins laugh at their mother's silliness. "Peek-a-boo." The twins laugh again, shaking their hands and wiggling their legs. "Okay...breakfast time." She checks their diaper. "Pee-pee boy number one and pee-pee boy number two. Bath first, then breakfast."
After a bath, Sonata sat them in the baby seat. "Okay, num-num time." She heats the baby food, then picks up the spoons. The twins did not open their mouths. They stared at it like, what the hell is this? Where's the boobie milk? She sigh. "Come on, not again... You two still don't want to eat num-num? It's good for you. Come on, Gintosu. Time to eat." She pushes the spoon to his face. Gintosu didn't open his mouth. "How about you, Ginharu? Eat num-num?" She tries to get him to eat. Ginharu moves his head away from the spoon. "You two still don't want regular food? Come on, try it one time. It's good for you." The babies look at each other, then look back at their mother. "I saw that look. I guess you two want milk again?" The twins start moving and giggling. Sonata sighed. "I'll go get the breast pump."
After the feeding, a few hours later, Sonata lies on the couch playing games on her tablet. While the twins jump up and down in their baby's bouncy seat, throwing blocks around. She peeks to see what they are doing, then glances at her watch. "Lunch time. I will be right back." As she walks to the kitchen, her front door opens. "Daddy's home!" Gintoki shouted. Sonata rolls her eyes, then walks into the kitchen. "What's your problem?" Gintoki asked. "Your face. Do something about that ugly thing."
"Speaking of ugly. Have you seen your vagina? It looks like a train wreck after the twins were born." Sonata got mad and picked up a frying pan. She chased him with it, then stopped when Gintoki ran into the living room. "Hey! No violence around our children." She groaned. "I will get you later." She goes back into the kitchen. "Oh...I'm so scared. Baby mama. Of all the women in Edo, she gets pregnant by me. No need to be bored anymore. Papa is here now." The twins lift their arms, wanting Gintoki to pick them up. He picks them up, then sits them on his lap facing him.
"What's going on with you two today?" He pinches their cheeks. The twins grab Gintoki's finger and hold it tight. "It is hard to tell you two apart. He examines their appearance. "Same chubby cheeks, big heads, fat stomachs, and a full head of silver and black hair. Now which one is who again? Damn, I can not tell my kids apart." He shrugs, then tickles their stomach making them laugh. He held their backs as they wiggled in his arms. He leans towards their faces and kisses them on the forehead. The twins reached out their tiny hands to pat their father on his face. He smiled at them, and they smiled back. Then they poked him in the eye. "Ahh!" The twins laugh.
"Mommy is taking too long." He picks them up and carries them to the kitchen. Sonata is standing there thinking. "What's the hold-up?" He asked. "I'm trying to figure out what to feed them. Milk? Or mushy food. I tried the food, but they didn't want to eat it. They wanted milk."
"Well, just give them milk." Gintoki held up the bottle in their eyesight. The twins stared at it with wide eyes. They reach their arms out to grab it. "I can't keep giving them milk. Isn't it time for solid food?" Gintoki hunches his shoulders, saying he doesn't know. "My mother told me I can keep the babies on milk until I am ready to stop them."
"Okay, so are you ready?"
"Yeah, but they aren't." She notices Gintosu has his hands out. "What's wrong? You want mommy to hold you?" She picks him up, then continues to talk to Gintoki. The twins lean forward in their parent's arms while trying to reach for their bottles. "You're trying to kick them off bottles already? They're not even one yet."
"Be-Ba. Be-Ba," Ginharu said. He slams his hands on the countertop. Gintoki looks down at him. "Ginharu is a drummer now." Sonata smiles. "That is so cute." Sonata kisses him on the cheek. "You want to play music, Ginharu?" No, he wants his bottle. "And I don't want to kick them off milk. I want to see if they will eat anything else besides milk. My nipples are sore and swollen from that breast pump." Gintoki hisses. "Yikes."
"Be-ba," Gintosu said, getting aggravated. "What's the matter, Gintosu?" Sonata looked at her kids and noticed they were reaching for their bottles. "Oops, mommy is so sorry. It is lunchtime, and I am standing here. Gin, hold them while I'll heat their bottle." He nods. The twins started crying when their daddy took them back into the living room. He sigh. "Come on, stop crying. Papa would give you two a lollipop." He shows them two candies. They stop crying, then begin to eat their lollipops. Gin looks around to see if Sonata is coming. He heard footsteps, then took away the candy. The twins started crying again. "Okay, mommy is sorry for the delay. Here are the bottles." She checks the temperature, then tosses Gintoki a bottle.
After lunch, they played with the kids. While sitting there, Gintoki smelled something. He checked his armpits, went over to Sonata, and started smelling her. "Back up." She pushes him away. "Do you smell that?" She shakes her head.
"I am way over here. I don't smell anything." Gintoki picks up Ginharu to smell his diaper. Nothing. Then he picks up Gintosu. "Holy shi-" He coughed. "Damn. You are the smelly one." Gintosu laugh. When the smell became powerful, he checked the other twin. "What the? I just checked you. Now you are smelly too?" The twins laugh at their father. "I know you two are twins, and you do everything together, but pooping together is weird. Sonata-san, duty calls." He points to their diaper. "No. It's your turn." He sighed. "Come on, Sonata..." He whined. "I changed them last time. It's your turn. Now go clean my babies!"
"Alright, fine." Gintoki picks them up and heads to their room. Sonata turns up the baby monitor to hear how he handles diaper changing. "Alright, let's see what we have-What the hell?!" Sonata shook her head. "What the?" Gintoki coughs. "You two only eat milk. Why do you have to poop a lot? You are babies, little, fat, big-headed things. That poops a lot. Ugh, this is gross. But you are babies, so I have to wipe you. Okay, now that you two are clean. Let me get the diapers. "OH, MAN! AHHH! They are pissing! NOO! Both of them just pissed on me! It's all over my yukata." Sonata laugh. "It's everywhere! PISS IS EVERYWHERE! Sonata! Sonata. Pee is in my eyes..." She sighed, then went to help Gintoki. "It's soaking through my pants..."
As the day went by, the twins ate dinner, played some more, then fell asleep on Gintoki's chest. Sonata walks over to him, then picks the twins up. She put them in their cribs, then kissed them good night. As she walks by Gintoki, he pulls her down towards him, then lands on his chest. "What the? Stop it, Gin."
"What's the problem? The kids had fun. Now it's time for mommy and daddy to play." She pushes him away. "Uh, no. I told you already we are not together." Gintoki sigh. "I don't know why. We have children, so let's make this relationship official." She rolls her eyes. "I said no. And stop putting our children in our problems. I understand we have kids. But a baby doesn't keep two people together." He sigh. "Oh. I get it now. You don't want a relationship with me. You only want me to be there for my kids." She nods. "Yeah, that's what I'm saying. Forget about me and worry about the twins." He stares at her. "I can never forget about you, Sonata." Gintoki stood up and walked to the front door. She follows him. "You were excellent with the twins today."
"Thanks."
