"Go ahead, Gin! You want Sonata back, right? Then fight him!"
"Don't you ever call me GIN! We're not friends, Luke." Gintoki and Masaya stare at each other. "Gintoki don't-OUCH!" Luke yanks Sonata's hair, then pushes her to the floor. "You just sit here and shut the fuck up!" Masaya shrugs. "It doesn't matter. I want to fight him anyway. And when I kill him, I'm killing you too, Luke!" Masaya threaten. Luke grits his teeth. "You better not lose Samurai."
Masaya took out his sword as Gintoki ready his. "Last chance, surrender now."
"Do I get to leave with Sonata?" He shakes his head. "No, you get to be buried next to LUKE!" In a blink of an eye, Masaya is standing in front of his opponent. Gintoki's eyes grew wide as Masaya's sword got ready to slice him. Moving quickly, Gintoki blocks his attack. He grits his teeth as he gathers his strength to push Masaya back. He finally makes space between them. "What the hell was-" Gintoki stops Masaya's sneak attack when he appears from nowhere on the side. How the fuck did he get to my right? He was in front of me. Masaya disappears again. "Shit!" Gintoki turns around to shield himself. That blade was too close to his throat. "So that's what you are doing." They break apart, then clash swords multiple times. Masaya continues to appear in different directions. Gintoki found it hard to keep up with him.
"What the hell? Is he disappearing?" Sonata asked. "No. You see it, right? That is why I can't fight Masaya. The fucker is too fast." Masaya ran and thrust his weapon at Gintoki's stomach, but Gin moved his katana downwards and blocked his attack. Masaya gripped Gin's shoulder and swung his sword towards his head. Gin stops the attack with his wrist, then uses his other hand to jab Masaya in the face. He stumbled a little. Unfazed by that hit, Masaya grabbed Gintoki and threw him. He hit the wall hard and fell to the floor.
"Gintoki!" Sonata tries to run to him, but Luke pushes her back down. "Don't be stupid! What can you possibly do, Sonata? You will only get in his way." While holding his ribs, Gintoki struggles to a stand, then gets to his feet. Masaya appears behind him. He couldn't even turn his head. He kicks Gintoki across the room, then lands on the floor. Gin rolls onto his back while reaching for his sword. He hisses in pain. "Shit, he's too fast."
"GIN! GET UP!" Sonata pleaded. Luke stares at what's happening. He does not look happy. "Are you serious, Luke?! You made a deal with a washed-up swordsman to take me down?! You're pathetic!" Masaya points to him, saying he's next, then races over to Gintoki. He got ready to stab him. Grabbing his sword just in time, Gin stops his attack. They scowl at each other as Gintoki pushes his sword back. "You can still move?"
"That weak ass kick was nothing! I'm just getting started!" Gintoki kicks up, landing on his feet. He started slashing angrily at Masaya. Sonata is relieved to see Gintoki standing. He steps back as Gin attacks him aggressively. He got much stamina. Not watching where he's going, Masaya stumbles. He moved quickly to get away, but Gintoki carved him across his chest. Masaya wince as the pain started. "Shit!"
"Where the fuck do you think you're going?!" While holding his wound Masaya goes toe to toe with Gin, fighting quickly. Masaya disappears to get away from him. His eye grew wide when Gintoki appeared behind him. When Gin cuts him on the shoulder, Masaya staggers but keeps his balance. His speed is close to mine! Whenhe swings his sword, Gin dodges it, then force his blade toward Masaya's face. He blocks the attack in time, but Gin sees another opening, then shoves his katana through Masaya's thigh. He cursed as Gintoki began to piss him off. "You motherfucker!" Gin smirks, then remove his sword as they go at it again.
"This guy. He's keeping up with Masaya. Where did you meet him from, Sonata?" Luke asked. "From a bar below his apartment."
"Who trained him? She hunches her shoulders, saying she doesn't know. "He only told me he was in a war long ago. Gintoki won't tell me anything else." He glances at her. "You had babies by this guy, and you know nothing about his past?" She nods. "Yup." Luke shakes his head. Masaya got angry and charged at Gin. Gintoki blocked his attack, but Masaya slashed him in the face with a hidden blade. Gin punch him, then roundhouse kicks Masaya in the face. He flew back and fell on the floor in excruciating pain. Masaya winces as he lies there, struggling to get up.
Luke stares straight ahead, then narrows his eyes. "Masaya won't go down that easy." With his guard up, Gintoki walks over to him. He looks up at Gintoki with hate as he tries his best to stand. "You haven't won! You can't be stronger than me. No is! No opponent of mine leaves here alive! You're beneath me!" Gintoki yawns, then dig in his ear. "Yeah-yeah, I heard this all before. I'm weak, your strong bullshit. You should attend a tea party with the other people I had to fight. Just sit around and talk about how you lost to me." Gintoki smirks.
Pissed as hell, Masaya stood up. He wobbled a bit a first. Gintoki ready his weapon. "Look. I don't want to kill you. But you are keeping me from bringing Sonata home. So I will do it!"
"I will not let you make a fool of me and take what's mine!"
"She's not yours! Get it through your head! You are obsessed, and that is unhealthy. Sonata is not that beautiful." She gasps. "But! She is a wonderful woman, we have kids, and I need her. She is leaving here with me!"
"You will leave here with NOTHING."
"I bet my strawberry milk I will leave here with her. And no one fucks with my strawberry milk. Unless you're Sonata and my kids. They always want some because they believe it's Sonata's boobie milk. And Sonata makes it for me from scratch because sometimes I'm too lazy to go to the store and-"
"NO ONE GIVES A FUCK!" Luke shouted. "Shut the fuck up! I'm talking! Now, where was I? Oh yeah, the-" Gintoki blocks Masaya's sneak attack with his sword. They glare at each other while pushing their weapons back and forth. "The disrespect! I was talking," Gintoki told him. "I was this close to taking your head off!" Gintoki smiles. "Said you and every other guy out there that tried. You think I didn't see you coming?" Masaya made space between them, then ran. Gintoki follows after him until they are neck and neck. Their swords swing as they try their best to take each other down. Gintoki found an opening and attacked. Before he could slice Masaya open, the bastard slid between Gintoki's legs and touched his ankle.
Masaya stood up, dropped a needle, and attacked again. Gintoki stares at it suspiciously. Why did he use that? "Shit, get behind me," Luke told her. Sonata tried to ask why but he cut her off. "Do what I say!" She nods. Luke ready his sword. "He's not playing fair." Masaya dodges as Gintoki continues to attack. Something's not right. Why is he not attacking? Masaya runs from Gin. When Gintoki gets closer, he swings his sword toward his head. Masaya dodges it, then turns around. In slow motion, they stare at each other. Masaya has a murderous look in his eyes, but not for Gintoki. He's facing the opposite way towards Luke. Then he remembers him saying you will leave here with nothing.
Shit, Sonata. When he turned around, his left leg wouldn't obey. It started to go numb, but how? That needle he dropped. Masaya paralyzed him. "Son of a bitch!" Gintoki's legs gave out, and he stumbled to the floor. Masaya dashes towards Luke. "SONATA!" Gintoki tries to get up but falls back down. "FUCK!"
"Get back, woman!" Luke pushed Sonata to the floor to shield himself from Masaya's aggressive attack. Sonata ran towards Gintoki. "DON'T GET IN MY WAY, LUKE!"
"FUCK OFF! I NEED HER ALIVE!" Masaya kicks Luke, then quickly stabs him in the chest. Luke drops his sword, then falls to the floor. "I'll deal with you later, traitor." He dashes towards Sonata with his blade ready. "Gintoki!" He punches his legs. "MOVE! DAMN IT! SONATA! RUN!"
"I'm not leaving without you!" Masaya got closer to them with murder in his eyes. "I SAID RUN!" Sonata wraps her arms around Gintoki. "NO!"
"I'LL BURY YOU TOGETHER!" Sonata closed her eyes, waiting for the metal to pierce her skin, but there was no pain, only wetness and the smell of iron. Iron? That's blood. She opens her eyes to see Masaya's sword through Gintoki's back. Her eyes widened from shock. She covered him, but Gintoki switched places and protected her. He took the stab through the back for her. Her eyes water as she sees the blade poking out of his stomach.
"Gin, why?"
"Shut up, Sonata. You know why." He looks up at her with blood dripping from his mouth. "I wasn't-"
"Enough. I would not be here now if you weren't worth it." She touches his wounds as blood sticks to her hands. "But you have been stabbed, Gin!"
"I have been through worst. Now, get back so I can continue."
"Are you fucking stupid?! You will bleed to death!"
"I SAID GET BACK! For once in your life, listen to me, Sonata. Move."
Sonata stares at Gintoki without making a sound. The look on his face screams murder. For the first time, she's scared of Gintoki. She nods, then slides from under him. She runs over to Luke. Masaya narrowed his eyes. "How were you able to move? I paralyzed you."
"I am still paralyzed. That's right. I can't feel my legs. I have been through worst than this. That attack was nothing, you piece of shit!" Masaya scowls. "You are always in my way!" He yanks the sword from Gintoki's back, then kicks him. Ignoring that pain, Gin slowly gets to his feet. "In your way? Really? Well, why should you have all the fun?"
"This will be your last, you loser. That stab was for Sonata, but don't worry. I don't want her anymore. You two will die together." Masaya raises his sword and swings it toward Gintoki's head. With one hand, he caught it and gripped the blade tight. Masaya tugged the handle, but Gin wouldn't release the sword. "Kill me, you say? Do you think I will let you kill me? I have children at home that Sonata and I need to raise. People that I care for and a peaceful life calls my name. You think I will let you ruin that?!"
The gash on his hand cuts deeper as he holds the sharp blade. Masaya choked on his words when Gintoki finally looked up at him. Menacing maroon eyes stare dangerously at him. Masaya took a step back from Gintoki's intimidating aura.
"I DON'T HAVE TIME TO DIE HERE!" Gintoki snaps Masaya's wrist, takes his sword, and swiftly stabs him in the stomach. He removed the blade as Masaya stood there speechless. Blood begins to drip from his mouth. Gin lowers his weapon and looks away. "We're done here. I'll be taking Sonata now." As soon as Gintoki walked away, Masaya used the last of his strength and took out a hidden dagger. He refuses to acknowledge that Gin won. When he charged at him, thinking fast, Gintoki cut off Masaya's hand. Before the knife could drop, he used both hands and ran his katana threw Masaya's chest. With the blade still in, he slammed him on the ground, making a large hole in the concrete floor.
Out of energy, Gintoki drops the sword, then falls. "Gintoki!" Sonata ran towards Gin to make sure he was alright. He is severely wounded. "Gin! Hang in there. Shit, you're bleeding baldly." She rips her shirt and wraps the stab wound. "Everything will be fine, okay?"
"Stop. Worrying. I'm fine. These wounds won't kill me."
"Stop talking! You already lost a ton of blood!"
"I'll be fine. I'll get cut a thousand times for you." Sonata smiles at him. "No stupid…" Luke walks over to Masaya while holding the gash on his chest. "Let's get out of here, Sonata." She helps Gintoki up and walks towards the door. Luke stares down at his boss. Masaya looks up at him, lying in a pool of his blood. He gasps for air. "Luke, you're still here... Don't let them get away. Help, H-Help me finish him." Luke smiles at him.
"I don't take orders from dead men."
"DON'T DO THIS! LUKE! I'm still in charge here. That is an ORDER!" Luke picks up the katana. "As second in command here, without you. I'm in charge now." He points to himself. "That's only if the Boss is dead." Luke twirls his sword while grinning evilly. "Luke! Don't do this, Luke! YOU FUCKING TRAITOR! That was your plan all along! YOU WILL PAY FOR THIS, LUKE!" He stabs Masaya in the chest. He gasped for air one last time, then died. Luke bends down and snatches the chain from his neck. "Motherfucker."
Gintoki and Sonata stood in the hall. They couldn't go anywhere because Masaya's men kept them from leaving. "Stay back, Sonata. I'll handle this."
"Gintoki, you are wounded. You can't fight!"
"I'll be fine. Just stay behind me."
"No, you won't!"
"Shut up and do what I say!" The men moved in closer as Gintoki ready his fist to fight. They were about to attack. "Let them go." No need to turn around. Sonata and Gintoki know who that is. "Let them go?"
"What is he talking about?"
"Why should we listen to you, Luke? Did Masaya order you to say that?"
"Masaya is dead. As second in command, I'm in charge now." Luke holds up the chain that was around Masaya's neck. "So, as your leader, I order you fuckers to let them go. I have no reason to keep them here." The men fall back and give them some space to walk through. "A deal is a deal, samurai. You can take your woman and leave."
Sonata stares at him. "Luke you-"
"Go. Before I change my mind." Sonata grabs Gintoki. "Let's go, Gin. Thank you, Luke." He scoffed. "Don't thank me. I did this for me. One more thing, I better never see you again, samurai." Gintoki smile. "If we ever cross paths. You won't win. I will be waiting for that day."
"No! Are you fucking serious?"
"Stop…Sonata…" Gintoki whined. "No, I won't stop! You have many wounds, and all you can think about is fighting next time. There will be no fighting for you for six or seven months! You are going to keep your ass in the house!" Gintoki sighed. "You know what. Luke, can you take her back?" He shakes his head. "No backsies. She is all yours." He watches them leave while Sonata nags Gin's ear off.
After tending to his wounds, Gintoki walks into Otose's shop wrapped in bandages. He still has to go to the hospital. Everyone looks at him. "Gin-san, you look horrible. What the hell happened?" Kagura asked. "So much shit. Ouch-Ouch! Ow-ow-Ow!" His whole body hurts while trying to sit down. "So, where's Sonata? Was she there?" Shinpachi ask. Gintoki didn't say anything. "I knew it was a trap! Where's that Luke guy! I'll kick his ass! Where is he?!" Kagura shouted. "Calm down and relax. Everything is fine." They raise their eyebrow. "Fine? Gin-san, where's Sonata?"
"Who?"
"SONATA!"
"Sorry, this concussion is getting to me. Why does everyone have a toilet seat for a head?" They look at each other. "You need to go to the hospital," Otose said. "Why do you have so many wounds?" Lena asked. "Don't worry about it. Sonata, get in here." They heard footsteps. When she walks in, everyone's eyes widen. "Hi, everyone." Everyone screamed. "IT'S SONATA'S GHOST! SHE CAME BACK FROM THE DEAD!" Kagura readies her fist. "Kill the zombie!"
"No! I'm not dead. I was never dead. Sorry, it took me so long to come in here. I had stopped Gin from bleeding to death, and I needed to use the bathroom upstairs."
"You're not dead. I thought you were gone forever." Lena hugs her sister.
"I'm sorry, Lena. I should have told you what was going on." She nods. "Sonata, don't do it again." She nods, then looks down. Her eyes begin to water. "GINTOSU, GINHARU!"
"Mommy!" The twins crawled to their mother. Sonata drops to her knees, then pick her kids up. She hugs them tightly while kissing their cheeks. "I miss you two so much. Mommy is so sorry. I haven't seen you two in five months." Tears ran down her face. "I am so sorry. I promise I'll make it up to both of you. Mommy is here. I will never leave again. I swear."
"What happened?" Shinpachi asks Gin. "You know, the usual. Fighting people and stuff. It's a long story, ow!"
"I can't believe she was alive all this time," Otose said. Gintoki nods. "Are you happy now, Gintoki?" He stares at the twins and their mother. He sees the joy on their faces, then smiles. Holding the kids, Sonata walks over to Gintoki. "Here is Papa." She frowns while looking at his many wounds. "Gintoki, go to the hospital." He sighed. "I will, Sonata, tell other Sonata to shut up."
"What? Yeah, your concussion is getting worst." He waves it off. "That can wait. How are you feeling right now." She smiles. "Excited for what's to come. You?" He thinks about it. "The usual. I can finally enjoy my peaceful, chaotic life here in Edo. Maybe with you." She stares at him looking, surprised by his words. "Really? The founder of the Yorozuya and former samurai. Sakata Gintoki, is thinking about settling down?"
"Shhh. Not too loud. I have a reputation to keep." She laughs. He looks around. "We already have children, so we might as well take this to the next level." She crosses her arms. "You want to be with me?" He looks around while scratching his head. "Well, let's say. I am willing to give this a try." When he caressed her face, Sonata smiled. "You said that I can start over with you. Do you mean it?" She laughs. "Yes, Gintoki." Sitting in their parent's arms, the twins giggle as their parents share a kiss.
Extended ending
Three years later, Sonata walks into Otose's shop with the twins. "Hey, Otose." She looks down. "Hi..." The twins said, drinking from their sippy cups. "Hello, Sonata. They're getting bigger." She nods. "I know, Ginharu bangs won't stop growing. And Gintosu's hair is the same. His ponytail is getting longer."
"Both of them look actually like you know who." She sighed. "Every day. Speaking of you know who. Have you seen their father?" She pointed. "Right over there."
"Thanks." Sonata turns around. "Gintoki, I need to talk to-What the fuck?"
Wait, hold up. Ginharu and Gintosu raise their eyebrows. All three of them stare at him with confused looks on their faces. Gintoki is standing there dressed as a woman. He stares at them with a blank expression on his face. "What the hell?" Sonata whispered.
"It's not what you think," Gintoki told her. She sigh. "Not again... What happened this time?" She asked Otose. "He didn't pay his rent."
"What?" Sonata walks over to him. "What happened to the money I gave you?"
"What money?" She smacks him on the back of the head. "Don't act stupid. The money for the apartment upstairs." He scratches his head. "Oh, that money. Hm..." Gintoki held his chin, thinking. "I might have gambled with it."
"What?! What do you mean you might have gambled with it?! You did gamble it! You stupid, silver-headed cross-dressing, homosexual!"
"I'm not a homosexual!"
"But he does admit he's a cross-dresser," Shinpachi said. "And being stupid," Kagura said. "You're dressed like a woman, Gin."
"It's Paako." Kagura corrected. "Paako?"
"That's my name when I'm wearing this."
"You can not be serious. Look, I have nothing against cross-dressing. My mother used to cross-dress, so I'm fine with it. You dressed as a woman plenty of times, but I thought you would stop when we had the twins."
"Your mother used to cross-dress?" Everyone asked. "That was long ago. Let's forget about that. But what to tell Ginharu and Gintosu? They're standing there with their big heads and beady eyes, staring at you. They think you are Papa, but they don't know for sure. Why? Because you're wearing a dress." Gintosu taps his brother, then points to Gin. "That's Papa?" Ginharu stares at Gintoki, then turns away in disgust. "No, too ugly."
"Don't tell them it's me."
"Then what am I supposed to tell them?"
"Tell them that's Paako. Gin-chan's ugly twin sister," Kagura said. "I'm not ugly, damn it! I look better than you in a dress," Gin said. "I doubt that," Shinpachi said. "You do look ugly in that kimono," Sonata told him. "When did you become the fucking fashion police, huh?"
"My point is if you are going to dress like a woman. Fix your makeup. And what's with that two ponytails? That's unattractive. Are you trying to look like a twelve-year-old? And no, that eye shadow color does not go well with your hair. All these color combinations make you look like one ugly woman Paako."
"Whatever. Don't hate me because I'm beautiful."
"You're not beautiful with that manly walk of yours," Kagura said. Shinpachi and Sonata laugh at him. Gintoki gave them the finger. "Okay. Do the job Otose gave you. I guess I will see you later, Paako. Say bye-bye to Papa's ugly twin sister, Paako," Sonata told her children. "Bye, ugly Paako," the twins said. Sonata laughs as Gintoki gets in her face.
"Ha-ha. Laugh all you want. Wait until I get home." He leans his face closer to her ear and whispers. "I'll show you what type of man I am." She rolls her eyes. "Not while wearing that. I'm not afraid of you, Paako. Especially with a name like that. You won't make anything with a flat ass like that, Paako. You better stuff some tissues in there."
"You do that when you want bigger breasts, right?"
"No, I don't. And for your information. I stuff cotton balls down here, not tissue. There's a difference. Let's go before something weird happens." Katsura walks in. "Let's get this over with," he said, being dressed like a woman like Gintoki. "I'm out of here." She walks to the door with her children. "Hello, Sonata."
"Hello, Katsura."
