Sonata looks around the area. She signals her team, asking did they find Masaya. They shook their heads. "Luke, no Masaya here," Sonata told him through her earpiece. "Look faster! We need to find him today!" She nods. "Yes, sir." She sighs as she and her team continue searching. They hope to find Masaya in time. She hopes that her children are okay.

Gintosu charges at his brother, then swing a fist. Ginharu blocks his attack, then trips his brother, making him fall to the floor. He moves his stick down at him at a fast speed. Gintosu dodges his attack. The weapon made a booming sound that shook the whole apartment. Otose's shop shakes, then stop. She sigh. Gintosu grabbed his stick, then went after his brother.

Downstairs, Otose lit another cigarette while she watched Gintoki drink about nine sodas. He can't drink alcohol because he needs to keep an eye on the twins. "Another soda Gintoki?" Gin chugs his drink, then sighs.

"Yeah, since I can't drink alcohol because of the twins. I need Saké badly right now." There was another booming sound coming from upstairs. Otose's shop shook again. "Speaking of children. What the hell are they doing upstairs?"

"Practice fighting. The twins believe that Sonata is in danger. I told them not to worry, but they refused to listen to their dad. Which is me, by the way." Gintoki sips his soda. "Well, what if they are right?" He looks at her. "They are wrong. There is no threat to Sonata's life. Everything will be fine."

"Will it? Do you believe that Sonata will not be in danger?"

"She decided to trust Luke instead of talking to me about it. That means she didn't trust me. Sonata will be fine." Gintoki stood up, left the shop, and went straight to his apartment. She sigh. "Idiot."

The evening came. After dinner, the twins stood up and ran to the front door. "Where do you think you are going?" Gintoki asked. "Out. We need to practice more," Ginharu said. "No. Stay inside."

"But we need space to fight," Gintosu said. "Do it in your room."

"We don't have time to argue with you, dad. We need to prepare." Gin sighed. "Here we go again with this bullshit."

"It's not bullshit! Our mother is in danger!" Gintosu shouted. "You reuse to protect her, so it's our job to step in," Ginharu argued. "Step into what? For 1, you are too young to fight, 2. You haven't had enough training and 3. Nothing is going to happen! Even if something does happen! You stay out of it! It has nothing to do with you!"

"WE NEED TO PROTECT OUR MOM!"

"NO! I NEED TO PROTECT YOU TWO!"

The twins scowl at their dad. They can not believe he is like this. "Why do you hate mom so much?" Gintosu asked. "Everyone told us you help people you barely even knew. And that you would risk your own life for them," Ginharu explained. "If you can do it for them, why can't you do it for mom?" Gintoki sighed. "I do not hate your mother. It's the choices she made. She told me to forget about her and protect our kids. You two are more important. Sonata made her decision."

"And you are okay with that?"

"No, I will always protect your mother, but she betrayed me by joining Luke again. I can not help her." The twins shake their heads. "We look up to you, dad. As our only male figure at home, we admire you. That's why we wanted to know how to wield a sword."

"Because we want to be just like you. You are our hero, and we thank you for the sword training. But no matter what you say, we will not abandon our mother," Ginharu stated. Gintoki shakes his head. He wants to yell, but that will lead nowhere. He stares down at them with an intense gaze. His children avoid eye contact while standing in front of him, looking worried. "How fucking dare you two disobey me." They look up at him. "Dad, we-"

"Did I say talk back?" The twins stood there quietly. He sighed. "I do everything and anything for you brats. Anything you two needed, your mother and I got it. As soon as you were born, I made you two my top priority. You two mean everything to me." He took hold of their shoulders. "It hurts me when my children are angry at me. I might be a jerk sometimes, but I'm here. Be lucky you have a dad. I don't remember having one." The twin's frown. "Hate me or not. I will never let anyone harm you. I will always protect you, no matter what. So shut up and let me do my job as your father."

Gintoki sat on the couch and sighed heavily. The twins stared at him quietly while looking confused. Gintoki never talked calmly to them when they disobeyed him. They thought that he would start yelling, but no. The twins thought, what type of trick is this? Did they unlock a new emotion that fathers have? Whatever is going on, they didn't mean to make him upset.

"Dad. We apologize for what we said," Ginharu told him. "Yeah. When you decided to abandon our mom, it pissed us off," Gintosu said. "Yeah, so you know. Don't piss us off," Ginharu told him. Gintoki shook his head. The twins walk over to him. "Dad, you saved us many times when we were little. Without you, we wouldn't be here right now. And mom would be missing." They started poking him. "We appreciate everything you and mom have done for us."

"We might be little demons, but we still love you."

"You have your stubborn ways, but we still love you."

"And admire you. You are our father, and you mean the world to us."

"We're sorry."

Gintoki looks at his children. They have his signature goofy grin on their faces. Gintoki smile. "No need to apologize. I have been mean to your mother and unfair to you two. But you know my reasons. And if you talk back to me like that again, there will be consequences. I'm the adult here, your father! Do you understand?" They nod. "I won't let it slide next time you disobey me. Now, come here."

The twins jump and hug their father. Gintoki hugs them back. "Alright, that's enough. You two are not babies anymore. I can not hold you for a long time."

"I mean, you are old," Ginharu said. Gintosu laugh. They stopped when their father didn't find it funny. "Sorry. So, will you protect mom?" Gintosu asked. "No." The twins groaned. "Dad, please. Mom is going to need your help." He shakes his head. "I'm sorry, but I helped Sonata enough."

"Who is Sonata?" Gintosu asked. "I don't know, some type of Japanese Car?" Ginharu guessed. Gintoki laughs. "Why are you laughing, dad?" His brother nods. "Yeah, and why is everyone keep calling mom, Sonata? Her name is Mom." Gintoki continues to laugh. "Sonata is your mother's real name, you little dummies." The twins look at each other. "Oooh."

"And you are a dummy, dad."

"No, you two are."

"No, you!"

BOOM! There was a large explosion outside. "What was that?" Gintosu asked. "I don't know." Two more explosions happened. The apartment shook. They heard people screaming outside. "What the hell is going on out there? You two stay here," Gintoki told them. "No way!" The three of them walk over to the front door. Gintoki slides it open a little. The color red lit up the night sky. People are running down the road while bombs go off around the city. "Holy shit," the twins said. "I guess it's a bad time to tell you that we told you so, huh?" Gintosu asked. Ginharu points to the city. "I mean, Dad? Really? Do you not see this? We told you so."

Gintoki slam the door, then pick up his Bokutō. He opens a secret door on the floor. "Go through here and head to Otose's shop. Head down to the basement and stay there until I come back."

"No way! We want to come and fight too!"

"FUCK NO! You know the plan! NOW DO WHAT I SAY!"

BOOM! Their roof collapsed inside the apartment. Gintoki pushes his kids out of the way just in time. A blade came fast towards Gintoki. He dodged it, then got ready to slice the enemy. Gintoki glanced at his opponent, then stopped. "No way." With that opening, Gintoki felt a boot kicked toward the front door. He flew out of his apartment and burst through something else house. He rolled while crashing into household items. But it didn't stop him. That hard kick sent Gintoki flying out the window. He lands on the ground outside. The twins were shocked when they saw what had happened to their father. Who the hell has that much power to send their father zooming?

"DAD!" The man walks over to the giant hole in their apartment. He saw the distance Gintoki went flying to, then smiled. The twins stared at him.

"Masaya."

"Really? It's him?" Gintosu asked.

"Yeah…"

Masaya turned to the twins, then walked over to them. The twins ran and picked up their swords. "So you're Masaya, huh? Good! We have been waiting for you."

"We have been training every day! You're going down for trying to kill our parents!"

The twins ran towards him and jumped up with their swords to slice him down. Masaya grabs the twins by their necks. They drop their weapons and begin to struggle to get free. He has a tight grip on them. "It's been a while. Eight years you might say. So, you two are Sonata's twin boys. You grow up so fast!"

"Ahh!" The twins begin to gasp for air from Masaya's choke. "You look just like your father, and I fucking hate that former Samurai..." He walks over to the giant hole in the wall. "I'm sorry, but I do not have time to play with you." He releases them, then yanks them by their hair. "Be good and STAY PUT!" He throws them outside. The twins hit the tree and landed on the ground. "I have to kill your father. I'll be back to finish you off." Bombs continue to blow up the city. Masaya smiled. He jumps down from the apartment, then walks the streets of Edo. Everyone continues to run and scream. "Burn it all down."
