Chapter Thirty

Yamcha narrowly avoided his invisible assailant's blow by backflipping out of the way. Then leaping left when he heard footsteps, the Human hopped off of the wall and towards his foe. Not to his surprise though, he was unable to hit his foe.

"Dammit," The man said to himself, knowing the disadvantage he was at. Fighting an opponent he could only hear, he wasn't even sure where to attack until it was too late. "What's the point if I can't hit this guy?"

Yamcha once again lashed out at the air in annoyance, hoping to hit his invisible opponent. Hitting nothing, the Human began to grow frustrated.

'I could hit the entire arena with a Kamehameha,' The bandit thought to himself, weighing his options. 'And if I miss? I'd be in trouble.' He added, knowing that his energy would be depleted and he'd be left at the mercy of the see through man.

"Come and get me," Yamcha's opponent taunted, charging towards the Earthling. Running towards the bandit, Yamcha heard the sound of feet hitting the ground and threw up his forearms to block whatever was coming.

Blocking the blow, Yamcha saw as the dirt from the ground stirred around him. This gave him an idea. Backflipping backwards, the bandit kicked his feet slightly, allowing some residual dirt to kick up and land on his invisible foe, covering him in a light second skin.

"That's smart," Master Roshi commented, watching the former desert bandit switch the tides of the battle. His now invisible foe was now a slightly visible one. "He's using the environment to his advantage."

Back in the arena, Yamcha continued to avoid his opponent as best as he could with his acrobatics. Each time he flipped out of the way of what assumed was a punch, he kicked some dust up and on the man until finally, he could see just who he was fighting. As he flared his aura afterwards, Yamcha's foe was left completely coated in dust and dirt.

"Looks like you're not the Invisible Man anymore," The bandit taunted, hopping back to his corner and taking in his now visible opponent. He fell into his fighting stance and prepared himself to attack, focusing his energy into his hands and feet for his ultimate attack. "Wolf Fang Fist!"

The sound of wolves howling dulled the room as Yamcha charged his foe with malicious intent, focusing his energy more and more as he reached his opponent. Starting with a punch to the gut, the bandit saw as his opponent's eyes shot open. Not letting up, he continued his Wolf Fang Fist attack with a barrage of very well placed claws and kicks. Each hit packed much power behind that and struck his foe until Yamcha lunged backwards.

Breathing hard, Yamcha's opponent, See-Through, stood in place for a while, looking at the bandit. He had to admit, the boy was smarter than he had anticipated. He had never been hit before, this was a whole new world of pain that he'd been introduced to.

"You win," The Visible Man grumbled with a pant and sigh, bringing his dirty hand to his ringing stomach. Waving a white flag in surrender, Baba's second fighter conceded. "Mama was right… I'm not cut out for show business."

"That's two down," Master Roshi sneered from the sidelines, looking at the frown Baba had on her face. His sister never did enjoy losing. He knew she could pick from the best fighters the Otherworld had but he had much faith in the three students that remained. "Maybe I won't have to jump in after all."

"My next fighter will awaken soon," Fortuneteller Baba said with disgust as she watched the Invisible Man walk off the stage in defeat. "You, make yourself useful and bring them to the Devil's Toilet." She demanded the loser.

"This place stinks," Yamcha commented, waiting on the tile bridge that he and the others had been told their next matches would commence. Looking down he could see a pit of green acid. "I'd hate to fall down there." The bandit said with a gulp.

Suddenly, a loud gong was heard as a sarcophagus in the same room slowly began to open. Opening completely, Yamcha's opponent, Bandages the Mummy slowly walked out.

"This guy won't be as easy as my last imbecile of a fighter," Baba warned the desert bandit with a smirk. Compared to Fangs and See-Through, the next three fighters were her champions. "I hope your boy brought his A-game."

'This guy's big,' Yamcha thought to himself, sizing his undead opponent up. Falling back into his turtle stance, the desert bandit felt a grin tug at his face. "Try to keep up with me."

Finishing his statement, the bandit lunged forward with swiftness, thinking that his foe's large stature meant that he wasn't quick. Throwing a jab to the mummy's chest, Yamcha was surprised when Bandages caught his hand. Looking up, he could see the mummy let off a toothy smirk.

Still holding Yamcha's fist in his own hand, Bandages threw his wrapped head forward. Yamcha saw stars as he was hit with the headbutt. Pushing forward, the mummy shot his knee into the bandit's gut, letting go of the boy to allow him to stagger back uncontrollably.

"He's faster than he looks," Yamcha said aloud, brushing off the ringing he heard in his head. Trying to regain his balance, he looked between two mummies his eyes were perceiving. "And he hits harder than the last guy."

The desert bandit wasn't allowed more time to recollect himself as his opponent charged towards him. Bandages charged his opponent, hitting the raven haired fighter with a heavy strike to the chest. Using his bandaged fist, he sent an uppercut at Yamcha's chin, forcing him off the ground and even further back the narrow strip they were fighting on.

"You don't stand a chance, Human," The mummy snickered, falling into a fighting stance as he allowed Yamcha to recollect himself. Flinging his arms forward and allowing the bandages to unravel and shoot towards the desert bandit, he smirked at this. "There's a reason the fortuneteller has so much faith in me. Nobody's ever made it past this stage of her tournament."

Yamcha slapped the incoming bandage wraps before they could grab him, leaping up and over Bandages to give himself more space to work with. Dropping into his stance, the bandit swallowed a gulp as he saw his opponent press towards him again.

"This guy's not letting up," He said, weaving out of the way of an overhand punch before opening himself up to an uppercut from the mummy's free hand. Taking the blow, Yamcha felt his body lift into the air and start to fall towards the acid pit. Before he could fall though, his hands found the edge of the walkway and he hung himself from there. "I can't give up though… for Bulma and Bora."

Swinging himself back to the top, Yamcha let off with a flying kick to his opponent's back. Bandages was visibly phased by this and staggered forward, grimacing in pain. Cloaked in his crimson aura, the desert bandit pounced back towards his opponent with his Wolf Fang Fist attack.

"You can't win this fight," The mummy retorted, blocking most of Yamcha's blows and then phasing out of his line of sight. Reappearing instantly behind the bandit, he wrapped his bandaged arms around the boy and placed him into a chokehold. Having the boy in a submissive hold, Bandages walked to the edge of the floor, dangling the bandit over the acid pit. "Give up or I'll drop you into the pit." He demanded.

"I-I give up," Yamcha said between grunts for air. Dropped from his restraints to the tile floor, a sigh left the bandit's mouth as he fell to his knees. "I'm sorry Raditz, I'm sorry Upa… I let you guys down."

"I'll handle this," Raditz said, stepping forward only to run into Krillin's outstretched arm. Looking down, the Saiyan saw his monk friend also stepping forward.

"No, I got this Raditz," The Earthling countered, dropping his weighted clothing before stepping forward on the Devil's Toilet. "We're not sure how strong those last two fighters are. We don't want to show our ace card just yet. I can handle this guy."

Raditz wanted to argue but he knew the monk was right. Nodding, he stepped back to the sideline and prepared to watch Krillin face off against Bandages.

Bandages locked eyes with the small monk as he entered the arena, Krillin glaring daggers at the mummy. Without saying a word the turtle student shot forward at his opponent just as Bandages did the same. Meeting in the middle, both fighters lashed out with combo attacks. Both fighters lunged back from each other minutes later, both appearing somewhat battered.

"You're a smart fighter, little one," Bandages said between breaths, applauding the monk. Using his wrapped hands to wipe blue blood from his lips, the mummy awaited what his opponent's next move would be. "Make your next move a smarter one or you'll end up like that friend of yours." The mummy grumbled at his foe.

"Try this on for size," Krillin said, charging a Kamehameha Wave at his side. Unleashing the wave, Krillin waited for his opponent to try to avoid the attack. There was only one way the mummy could evade the blast and Krillin knew what his next move would be.

Hopping over the blue wave of energy, Bandages wasn't counting on Krillin awaiting him. Moving on instinct, the small monk shot an axe kick at his opponent. Hit by the attack, Bandages couldn't even move to avoid the next attack that Krillin sent his way, a jab to the face. Hitting the ground just as Krillin's Kamehameha Wave died down.

"He's done," The monk said, knowing how much power he had placed into the ki-enhanced strike. On suit, the mummy's head hit the ground and everything went black.
