Savior Of The Seven Kingdoms 2 Chapter 1

That trouble with Steppenwolf and his master Darkseid may be done and over with for now, but that doesn't mean that there aren't any other unresolved conflicts on Earth to tend to.

For example, modern day sea pirates and mercenaries.

These guys cause people a lot of headaches. Acting as they wish as if there'll be no reckoning for their transgressions.

And right now a high-tech crew is currently launching an attack on a Russian Akula-class navy submarine out at sea, using a highly classified U.S. Navy submarine that they stole at a different location not too long ago.

These sea pirates attacked without warning, swarming the submarine before the people on board could do anything to stop them.

The Captain, Jesse Hyde, and his son the 1stnd Mate, David Hyde, quickly took control of the sub, killing the Captain when he defied them and those few that resisted. The rest of the survivors sealed themselves in the torpedo bay so as not to meet the same fate.

But before the Russian Captain's demise, he did manage to send a single distress signal out before these savages managed to disable it.

The sea pirates are confident that no message was received by any rescue crews.

Noticing there aren't nearly enough Russian navy men they've encountered, David said "Where's the rest of the crew?"

Jesse said "Decided discretion was the better part of valor and sealed themselves up in the torpedo bay."

Smugly, David smirked "Our reputation proceeds us."

"Your reputation," corrects Jessie, proudly. "This is your win." Jessie then pulls out his favorite dagger, a family heirloom he's carried for years, presenting it to his son. "Here."

"Can't take that piece of junk. It's the love of your life," objected David, punching his father lightly in the shoulder.

"I never told you the story behind it. This was your grandfather's. He was one of the Navy's first frogmen during World War 2. He was so stealthy in the water, his unit nicknamed him Manta. But after the war, his country forgot about him. So, he went back to the sea, scavenging and surviving with his wit…And this knife. He gave it to me when I was your age. And now it's yours, Son," said Jessie, struggling to retain his emotions as he speaks in advocation for what they do, justifying their actions with the family legacy he fully intends to see pass down the family line.

David accepts the treasured weapon, drawing the blade from its sheath. A manta ray is engraved near the hilt of the blade.

The Captain and 1st Mate are so assured of their victory.

How wrong they were. Their arrogance and overconfidence will cost them dearly.

Turns out the distress signal did reach someone.

That person would be Aquawoman.

Alarms blare on the submarine as something on sonar is noted rapidly approaching them, too fast for any animal or another ship to ever be moving at.

It rams the submarine's engine propellers in full force, severely damaging them upon impact.

The submarine rumbles and shakes harshly, throwing many off their feet and clutching objects close by to remain upright.

"Did we just hit something," said David, concerned.

"No," breathed Jessie, guard up, recognizing the signs. "Something hit us."

"Sir, there's something out there."

Pressing a finger to his earpiece communicator, David said "Another submarine?"

"Uh…no. I think it's a woman."

A woman?

Impossible.

Another hit causes the ship to tremble. This time from below.

But it doesn't stop there.

Who or whatever is attacking the ship effortlessly brings the submarine and the attached pirate vessel up to the ocean's surface.

Groaning, chest heaving, David seethed "That's not a woman."

All the sea pirates arm themselves, patrolling all the passageways with their weapons at the ready.

They have no idea what they're in for.

Ariel breaks inside, cutting down and immobilizing sea pirates left and right that step into her path, not killing a single one of them. Their bullets bounced harmlessly off of her hardened and impenetrable skin. Those that try to hide from her are quickly uncovered and dealt with efficiently.

None of these buffoons know how to handle her.

Ariel's way to the torpedo bay is clear.

The terrified Russian crew members had placed a gigantic wrench in the door handle on their side to prevent any of the mercenaries from opening it, themselves armed with various tools to use as weapons of defense.

All of them stiffen their postures in preparation, scared to death of what they might be met with behind this door.

The door swings open revealing Ariel.

One of the Russian crewmen recognizes her.

"Aquawoman," he said in excitement and delight.

Talking in Russian so that they can all understand her, Ariel said "Hurry up. I might be late to my shift for work because of this."

Well, none of them can exactly call themselves gentlemen if they cause a lady to be late for work.

All of the Russian crew don lifejackets and board lifeboats outside of the submarine. Ariel is supervising the entire evacuation when David appears, charging at her with his automatic weapon. The last remaining Russian sailor is hit with a ricochet in the shoulder but still lives.

"I've waited a long time for this," snarled David.

David and Ariel engage in hand to hand combat as other Russian sailors assist their injured fellow out of the submarine.

Throwing David into some machinery, Ariel said "Am I supposed to know who you are?"

As far as Ariel is aware, they've never met before now.

"I scavenge the high seas. You're the Aquawoman," said David, having learned from rumors not to underestimate her because of her petite stature. "We were bound to meet at some point."

David goes to slice at her with one of his wrist blades. Ariel counters by kneeing him in the groin after the blade deflects uselessly off of her.

Patting his shoulder, Ariel said, "Let's not make it a habit."

Soon Jesse arrives making it two-on-one.

Father and son team up against her.

A grenade launcher is used against her. Upon impact, it knocks her backward. She lands face flat on the floor, her body smoking.

There's not a mark on her besides the black smoke steaming from her skin.

Lifting her head, slowly rising much to their combined shock, Ariel said "Ow."

Not tolerating any more of this Ariel dislodges some piping, launching it like an Olympic athlete throwing a javelin.

The piping implants itself into Jesse's shoulder.

Jessie releases a pain-filled scream.

"Dad," yelled David.

Advancing on them mercilessly, dislodging the piping out of him and dropping him in a heap onto the floor, Ariel demanded "Dad? He's your son? Shame on you."

"Bitch," yelled Jesse, firing at her again.

The shot misses. The resulting bang is heard throughout the vessel as water pours into the sub, flooding it. The ballast as critically ruptured. They are only minutes until the sub sinks to the bottom of the ocean and all the sea pirates with it including them.

An unarmed torpedo falls onto Jesse's legs, breaking one of them.

David desperately tries to pry it off him, but he doesn't have the strength.

Watching the two of them Ariel can't help but imagine the two as her and her father. In the same position, she'd push aside her pride and beg for help, too, to save his life.

"Get out of here! I got this," said Jesse.

Straining against the heavy weight, David said "Shut up, I'm not leaving you!"

"You need to live," protested Jesse.

David isn't strong enough. He needs help.

Luckily there is another to lend a hand.

Ariel intercedes, grabbing the unarmed torpedo and rolling it off of him.

Staring at her in astonishment, David said "You weren't going to leave him like that?"

"Let this be a lesson to you," said Ariel, tone cold and acidly flat. "You kill innocent people like this again and next time you'll have to ask the sea for mercy instead of me." She then pulls Jesse to his feet, supporting him on the shoulder from his broken leg. "Which way is your ship?"

"That way," said David, running in the direction he pointed in.

Without looking behind him David makes a break for their ship, thinking Aquawoman and his father are right on his tail. By the time he gets to the entrance the water is already up to his waist and will reach his neck soon afterward if he doesn't leave now.

Once he's safely inside David looks to assist his father inside with him. Only to discover the two of them weren't there.

David had been tricked. Aquawoman had outsmarted him.

Aquawoman had taken them on an entirely different route.

Basically Ariel took David to the lifeboats, handing him over to the Russians to face justice in their courts as the Captain of these notorious and nefarious sea pirates.

Ariel said she'd save the man, but that didn't mean she had to set him free.

By the time David gets the submarine up and running Aquawoman will be long gone, tugging the lifeboats filled with David and the surviving Russians in tow with her dainty body. He'd never be able to catch up to them. Not at the speeds she can move.

"NO!"
