Thank you all for being really patient after two years. Haven't updated this story since 03/23/2020.
Each chapter will take some time but I know I don't want to discontinue this fic.
Enjoy this next chapter of Field Trip to WizneeLand.
Chapter Four: Cowboy Country
Upon reaching Cowboy Country, Charlie Brown and Heather take a good look of the place. It resembled an old western town with animatronics of horses in farmer's clothing playing instruments.
"Here we are, Cowboy Country." Heather says. "What should we do now? Square-dance in the saloon or go on the mine cart ride?"
"I haven't danced since I ruined the school dance. If I dance with her right now, I will embarrass myself without any new dancing moves." Charlie Brown thinks and responds, "Let's go on the mine cart ride."
"Good choice, I'm more excited for that ride. Let's go." Heather says as she pulls Charlie Brown with her, running with excitement.
As the two get in line for the mine cart ride, they look around the waiting interiors. They were designed to look like the visitors are actually inside a cave. It was slightly dark inside but some toy fire-torches were lighting up. There are also animatronic bats hanging from the ceiling.
7 minutes later . . .
Charlie Brown and Heather are now in front of the line as an empty mine cart with two seats has arrive to take them. The adult in charge of the ride advises the kids to not put any body part outside of the cart at all times.
"Yes, sir. We'll be careful throughout the ride." Charlie Brown replies.
And with that, Charlie and Heather sit in their cart and the handle came down for their safety. Charlie Brown gets nervous sitting close to Heather on the cart.
He remembers that he blew his chance to offer Heather a seat with him on the bus back in Winter. The Little Red-Haired Girl of his dreams was walking to the back since there weren't any seats available. As she was getting closer, Charlie immediately went down and crawled under the bus seats, not wanting to sit with her just yet.
And now, Charlie Brown is sitting next to her for the second time! Right when Heather asked him to go to his house. Sure, he counted.
After a few seconds, they took off. The ride starts moving slowly as animatronic bats fly in the air, making noises.
"Oh man, this is getting exciting!" exclaims Heather.
Suddenly, the mine cart immediately moves faster! Charlie Brown and Heather held tightly onto their handle.
The duo see they were heading to a 'DANGER! KEEP OUT!' sign as the mine cart steered itself to the left. They pass by waterfalls and campfires.
Suddenly . . .
"WOAH!"
Charlie and Heather see a ginormous rock coming towards their way but the cart quickly moves to the left!
"Hey, I think I see a light!"
Heather was correct, the duo are now approaching the cave's exit.
The mine cart begins to slowly move once again as the two kids are looking around what seems to be a town from the Old West.
The town had stores, a bank, and a saloon. A water wheel is turning in the nearby river. Animatronics of cows, horses, pigs, cowboys, cowgirls, and the townsfolk were having a usual day in the town.
A cowboy was doing a lasso with his rope. Pigs were eating from their large wooden tray. The townsfolk were doing their everyday chores, such as making butter. And the sheriff was sleeping on a rocking chair.
The ride continues to move at a steady pace and heads into another cave. The cave had shiny but fake jewels scattered, they were in red, blue, purple, green, and yellow. Charlie Brown and Heather look around in awe by how glorious the section was covered in shiny jewels, even if they weren't real jewels.
The cart then comes near the exit, signifying the ride was over. Another worker in the ride lifted the handle and the kids get out to explore more of Cowboy Country.
"Wow, that was fun!" Charlie Brown says.
"Yeah, it was. I never felt so thrilled before." Heather tells him. "Well, shall we go square-dancing, now?"
"Oh no, not square-dancing!" Charlie Brown still didn't want to go dancing to embarrass himself. "Well- um- A-Actually, I-I don't think I can dance right now!"
Heather raises an eyebrow. "Oh, really? How come?"
Charlie thinks of an excuse. "Because- Because- I-"
"Charlie Brown! Heather!"
Charlie and Heather turn towards the direction of whom just called them. That voice was Peppermint Patty as she and Marcie walk up to them.
"Oh, Peppermint Patty, Marcie. You two started off here, too?" Charlie Brown questions.
"Yeah, we just got off the mine cart ride. It was really cool that we were going fast." Peppermint Patty states while putting on a cowgirl hat she got from the area's gift shop.
"And the town really had that western atmosphere." Marcie added. "Especially with the people and the animals."
"And the jewels looked so pretty." Heather tells the group. "Say, why don't we all go square-dancing in the saloon?"
Charlie Brown, once again, didn't feel comfortable with that idea.
"Oh, actually," Marcie begins, "we were just in the saloon but they're not playing music. Nice interior, though."
Charlie Brown felt relieved after hearing that from Marcie.
"Oh, I see." Then something catches Heather's eye. "Then how about taking a photo with that silver statue of the cowboy and horse over there?"
The other three turn to see that there was indeed a silver statue of a cowboy and a horse. A family was currently taking a photo with it.
"Sure, let's go." Peppermint Patty responds as the four make their way.
XOXOXO
An adult had the camera ready and the four kids smile.
FLASH
The girls walk to the adult while Charlie Brown needed a second to get his eyes adjusted from the camera's flash.
"Thank you, mister." Heather grabs the photo from the adult and shows it to Charlie and the other girls.
The photograph showed Charlie Brown, Heather on his left side, and the other two on his right side. With the statue behind them.
"Not a bad photo, right sir?" Marcie asks Peppermint Patty.
"Stop calling me, 'sir'! Though, that is a fine-looking photo."
"Where shall we go next?"
Peppermint Patty looks around a group of cowboys and cowgirls doing a meet-and-greet. "Let's go get our photo with them."
"Alright, we'll see you later." Heather waves as Peppermint Patty and Marcie leave.
Charlie Brown, whose eyes are now better, pulls out the map and questions, "Where do you wanna go next?"
"Your turn, I chose this place. Where do you wanna go?"
Charlie Brown glances through the map and gets interested in going to . . .
"Yesterland?"
"Yesterland, it is." Heather responds.
To be continued . . .
Again, thank you all for being very patient for the next chapter.
On a side note, I am glad to inspire HeatherLovesCB on including Janice in the story, "You're in Junior High Now, Charlie Brown". Which is also motivating me to continue this story. I like how the Peanuts gang are going through so many different events as it relates to many in the real world.
Also to the reviewer who asked if one of the characters was watching Scooby-Doo due to the quote, "This is gonna be awesome!" I wasn't trying to reference Scooby-Doo, I just thought it was just a saying for excitement.
Next time, Charlie Brown and Heather will explore the sci-fi world of Yesterland!
