Black Flames

Chapter 6

Healing is So Boring

A/N: Hello again from another couple years. I just randomly got the bug to write again so here i am with another chapter. I hope you like it

As always I don't own any of the characters all of that goes to Masashi Kishimoto and Gardner Fox!

ENJOY! =^-^=

"You will be back on your feet in no time," Lantern nodded as he step to the side. "would you like a tour of the place?"

Sakura stared at Lantern for a few seconds. "Now is as good a time as any i suppose." J'onn smirked and started pushing her chair in the direction Lantern was leading.

"Behind you as you well know is the infirmary. I think we will have you there for a little longer before getting you settled. You and J'onn have a unique position, since you both aren't from here the Watch Tower will most likely end up being your home," Lantern commented as he moved through the halls. Sakura half listened. If she was being honest with herself she didn't want to talk about her place in this world or healing or anything. She was too busy having a pity party with herself.

She needed to train again. She needs to get back to what she was before. She needed to get back to her job. What was that even here? What would she do? How could she help anyone when she cant even help herself?

"Sakura? Sakura? You alright? Should we head back? You are looking a little pale?" Lantern had stopped an kneeled infront of her. She jumped a little at how close he was suddenly.

"Sorry, no it is fine. i was just caught up in my own thoughts," She tried to brush of his concern. J'onn just pushed the chair behind her. It surprised her a little bit that he hadn't be the one to snap her out of it. The trio started moving down the hall again

"That is because you need time to process as much as i did," J'onn leaned down and whispered in her ear while they walked. Sakura jumped again not used to hearing J'onn as opposed to just feeling J'onn she supposed.

"Don't do that," She whispered back and playfully swatted at him.

"I am still getting used to speaking out loud. A few people in the group have expressed that it makes them uncomfortable," J'onn nodded to himself as he spoke out loud.

"Hmmm, I guess i get it but your voice is different somehow. It feels less like you," Sakura hummed and blushed a little realizing how strange that sounded.

"I would suppose that is because i have never needed to use vocal cords before. I have only ever spoken through my mind. It is different," J'onn spoke softly as he mused over Sakura's comment. Sakura nodded and smiled. They all continued down the hall, Lantern would comment on a few different things here and there. Sakura didn't pay much attention, her eye drifting to the beautiful sight of space out the big window.

J'onn had showed her many things as she slept but experiencing them herself was a completely different thing. it was amazing. She decided to risk opening up her sharingan. She had consciously been keeping it closed but she wanted to know what this was like. What was space like through this different visual spectrum.

She was not prepared. Not in the least. The Moment she opened her eye everything was gone. All she saw was the swirling lights, and colors everywhere it was nauseating and out of control. She couldn't stop looking though. There was something under this. Something in all the colors just out of her reach. She didn't realize she was trying to actually reach out her hand until J'onn touched her. He covered her eyes and pushed her back against the wheelchair.

"Sakura Breath," J'onn's voice was edged with concern but remained calm. Sakura gasped in a breath not realizing she had stopped. And then she was panting.

"What was that?" Sakura panted. Lantern stood back a little bit not sure what to do with this strange girl and her strange eye.

"I am not sure. My guess is that eye can seem much more then Uchiha could imagine. Your world never made it to space so there may be secrets that lie in the stars for you," J'onn offered. "I do believe you aren't in a condition to attempt learning those secrets though."

Sakura nodded feeling exhausted. The small bit of energy she did have was gone again. "I think i would like to go back." Lantern and J'onn nodded together and they turned around. Sakura felt herself drifting even on their short way back. She felt J'onn lift her into bed and then it was sweet dreams about home but the stars continued to move whenever she looked up.

The next few weeks sucked. Sakura slowly began to eat again. Weak broth and water was about all she could handle. Anything more and she would vomit it up. The vomiting always made her exhausted. She was working on standing. It was slow but she got there. She could now stand and at least get herself into a wheel chair and to the bathroom herself. J'onn was always there to help but Sakura was stubborn and wanted whatever independence as possible.

Most of the team would check in on her every so often. Superman came by alot. He also wasn't from earth Sakrua found out but was raised there so he loved to talk about earth. She learned alot about Superman while recovering. He shared his real name being Clark and about where he grew up. Smallvile a little farming town. His adopted family was great and once Sakura was feeling better she could visit his little slice of heaven.

Wonder Woman enjoyed talks with Sakura as well. Most of their talks revolved around training. The different Method each of them used and stores of battle they had fought. Wonder Woman loved to hear of a world that taught women and men the same. A place that only cared about your own strength and character not your sex. Wonder woman preferred her real name in private company, Diana.

"My master was a legend in my village. She had been apart of the Second Shinobi World War. She and her 2 teammate were meet against impossible odds but survived. They became the Legendary Sannin. it was a mighty title. I was so proud to be her pupil," Sakura smiled as she thought of her teacher. A small tear rolled down her face as she stared at her hands.

"She sounds like a mighty warrior. I look forward to training with you and seeing her through you," Diana smiled.

"Some day maybe," Sakura grumbled. Diana nodded understanding the discomfort of being stuck in a room unable to leave.

"Soon Sakura, I believe it," Diana patted her hand and then left for the day. Sakura laid down in her bed and stared at the ceiling for a while.

"Just what is my plan? Get better and then what," She sighed and drifted off to sleep.

It took Sakura 2 months of bed rest before she started to feel human again. Clark was ecstatic when she started really eating well again. He brought her all sorts of food his mother had made for her. Sakura sincerely enjoyed the warm comforting food. She vowed to thank Mrs. Kent in some way in the future. She also found that Ramen existed here. She wept when she was first able to eat it. It wasn't quite right but it was the closest thing she had gotten to home since before the Great Shinobi War.

J'onn sat with her that day. She just cried and cried into the bowl of noodles.

"I have found on this planet there is a vegetable grown that is so close to a food from my planet. I believe it is called a Potato. I felt the same sadness," J'onn commented as he sat with her. J'onn's presence always calmed Sakura in the ways she needed it.

"Naruto loved ramen. There was a small stand in our village that always made it special for him. I never thought i would be able to eat it again and think of home. Just a simple dish means so much," Sakura sniffled and cried some more.

"Finally!" Sakura yelled as she walked into a room filled with training equipment and dummies. She began to stretch out her muscles and eye what she wanted to do first. She hadn't been allowed into the training room by strict orders from Batman and Green Lantern. She had been allowed to walk around the Watch Tower and do little exercise in her room but nothing too crazy. Today was the day she was given the go ahead to really train.

Diana walked into the room and laughed. "Finally free?" Sakura nodded excitedly.

"Want me to show you around? There are alot of strange but wonderful things in this room."

"YES!"

The pair spent the rest of the day going over all the different bits of equipment and programs Batman had put together for the team to use.

Sakura panted on the floor of the training room. Next to her was the mutilated corpse of a sparring robot. She had slowly been working up her strength. The Robot had a few different levels of difficulty. Sakura had finally reached the best it could do and won.

A shadow fell over her face as she laid there. "Nicely done, Are you ready for a real person now? I have some time."

"I was told that robot was like a real person," Sakura smirked up at Green Lantern.

"Well to an extent i suppose but the robots here aren't advance enough to be considered people," Lantern remarked.

"Are there robot people on different planets?" Sakura asked actually interested.

"There is. it is pretty amazing actually. i even call a few collogues. They are apart of the Lantern core."

"So they have evolved enough to have free will?" Sakura asked. She remembered Lantern talking about his power and explaining it one day when she was trying to explain her chakara to him.

"That's right, enough free will to control a lantern ring." Lantern walked to the other side of the room to another sparing ring and motioned for Sakura to follow. Sakura got up and walked over to the ring. She was excited to see what she could do against a ring of power.

"Alright," Lantern walked up to a counsel on the other side of the ring and pressed a few buttons. There was some load scrapping and metal sounds underneath them. "I reenforced the floor of the sparing ring just in case." Lantern smiled before stepping into the ring.

Sakura took a basic fighting stance. She was going to start of light and see where it went from there. She did notice that he was not glowing green like when she had see him fight before. It made her a little grumpy to not be taken seriously but starting light was what she was going for.

"Alright ninja girl, show me what you got!"

"With pleasure!" Sakura smiled and charged at him. Lantern stood his ground and brought up his hands like a Boxer and blocked her first strike. He then came her with a straight jab to the face which Sakura easily evaded.

So it when on like this Sakura would strike out at any opening she found and Lantern would either block or evaded. She was getting a little annoyed but was still content with herself because he wasn't making contact with her either.

Sakura jumped back to her end of the ring and smiled. "This has been great! I think i want to step it up a little bit. Are you ready for that glowing man?"

Lantern smiled and nodded. His ring light up on his finger and his figure because to glow. Sakura smiled. This was what she wanted.

Sakura pulled from her rebuilt chakra supply and charged forward again. When she struck out this time she put her force into it. Lantern brought his arms up again and braced for impact. What he did not expect was the freight train that came barreling into him. He nearly went flying but caught himself and created a wall to stop him. The slight OOOOF he made when Sakura made contact, made her giggle.

"What do you think now?" Sakura laughed again and she jumped back waiting for Lantern's counter move.

"I think you have some skills, let's test them!" Lantern brought his ring in front of him and made a large boxing glove appear in front of him. He swung his arm and brought it crashing down on top of Sakura. Her hands flew in to a fury of signs Lantern didn't recognize. Before the boxing glove made contact a large wall of metal surrounded Sakura. When the glove came down the metal crumpled. Lantern rushed forward and started pulling the metal apart searching for Sakura. When he got to the center of the ball she wasn't there. Lantern wiped his head around the sparring circle. A Hand punch through some metal towards the bottom of the ball and pulled Lantern off his feet. Sakura jumped forward and landed on top of him with a knife fashioned from the metal at his neck.

"Yield?" Sakura smiled. Lantern sighed and gave a slight nod. Sakura jumped off Lantern and offered a hand to help him up. Lantern sighed and accepted the offered hand.

"That was pretty impressive. I was pretty surprised by your strength but that thing with the metal was very interesting. I thought your chakra only worked with nature?"

Sakura thought for a moment, "I think this is a case of metal being originally from the earth. It took ALOT more chakra to move and i'll be honest i don't want to do it again," Sakura sighed and put her hand on the back of her neck.

"That is still pretty interesting. We'll have to spar again on earth and see how that changes. Your first trip back there is coming up right? Superman making you see his home town first?"

Sakura smiled, "I am gonna be going down really soon, I think J'onn said should be about 2 or 3 days from now. Clark mentioned something about thanksgiving? I am not sure what that is but he said I had to be there."

"Ah yes, Thanksgiving has alot of good food to go around. i am not surprised Superman is having you over," Lantern smiled and the pair walked out of the equipment room talking about the different food Sakura was going to get to try at this Thanksgiving.
