Chapter 15: andrea (i just didn't want anyone to die)

She's not the smartest or the stromgest of the group, she knows.

She makes some dumb decisions sometimes, (in her defense, she didn't know Daryl was not a walker at the time, and she is relieved he is not dead), but some decisions are worse than others.

Like letting her sister Amy die.

Like letting Dale talk her out of being left to die peacefully.

She doesn't want to be eaten by these horrendous walkers.

She'd rather go out on her own terms.

She winds up befriending and bedding Shane, because the two of them are alike, two peas in a pod. They're both identically in the same position, they love someone they can't have. She can tell he loves Lori and sees her as a shadow.

It's okay, she just needed the company.

She runs for her life from the walkers.

It is there that she meets Michonne, and meets her closest friend.

Although she doesn't talk much, she's a very good listener.

Then she meets Philip.

She knows she has a thing for bad boys.

She'd always liked the delinquents in school.

He saves her life.

She's so drawn to everything about him, even though part of her soul screams that he's dangerous.

She should have known he was too good to be true, as she has the best fun she's had in a long time, met someone who understands her better than anyone else, and had some great romance.

She should have remembered what a psychopath is, then she would have recognized mirroring for what it was.

She smiles at Philip as he tells her he trusts no one.

She's hiding in the factory.

"Andrea!" That voice, which was once one she loved to hear, was now a terrifying one to perceive.

"It's fun." He says, smiling, "The people here need to relax. You can't hide away from it."

"Philip is not a monster!"

They all look skeptical of her, even hostile.

Ridiculous, was it not long ago she had been one of them?

Oh god.

He's a monster.

He is as monstrous as they said he was.

'Milton.'

Milton staggers toward her and grunts, as she screams.

How could Philip do this to her?

They get to her in time.

Rick, the one she wishes she'd gotten to know better, instead of resenting him so much, is there. Maybe in some other universe, they'd gotten together. But this is not that universe.

"I know how the safety works. I just didn't want anyone to die."

Everyone nods, with tears in their eyes.

A few seconds later, a bang can be heard, signaling the end of her life.
