On a sunny, warm Friday morning, in the month of June 1985, Charley dashed down the stairs of Jerry's house in his graduation gown. Reaching the last step, he bumped into Billy who was rushing towards the front door with car keys in his hands.
"Oh good," Billy said, I was just coming up to see if you were ready."
"Yeah, I keep feeling like I'm forgetting something though," Charley said.
"Do you have your speech?" Billy asked.
"Yeah," Charley replied.
"You have—"
Billy's eyes widened.
"Oh, your cap—"
"Oh yeah, right! I almost forgot!" Charley replied before turning and dashing back up the stairs.
As Billy turned to walk towards the kitchen, Jerry walked out of the kitchen while pulling on his gray blazer.
"Hey, is he gone yet?" Jerry asked.
"No, he forgot his cap upstairs," Billy said.
Jerry nodded while walking towards the stairwell.
"You haven't told him yet, have you?" Jerry asked.
"Nope, kid doesn't have a clue," Billy replied with a smirk. "I'm sure he'll be surprised though, seeing you walk into that auditorium."
Jerry smiled.

"I guess—I guess this is what it would've felt like if I had had a son of my own."
"Jerry," Billy said with a smile. "you're acting like a mortal."
"Don't start," Jerry said with a smirk as Billy snickered.
Charley dashed down the stairs with his graduation cap in hand and Jerry walked over to him with a smile.
"All right, I'm ready to go," Charley said with a smile. "How do I look? Wait—let me put on my cap."
Charley put on his graduation cap.
"So, how do I look? Huh? Do I look graduation ready?"
Jerry stared at him with a smile while walking closer to him and putting his hands on Charley's shoulders.
"You do," Jerry said. "Your mother would be so proud."
Charley looked away as light tears glistened his eyes. His mother, god how he wished his mother could've been there to see him at that moment.
"I hope so," Charley said in a low tone.
"I know so," Jerry replied, "as proud as I am right now of you myself."
Charley stared at Jerry with an emotional frown. He was surprised to hear such words from Jerry, the one who was his absolute nemesis just several months back.
"Wow," Charley said in a low voice. "That means a lot coming from you, really."
"Yeah, I mean it though," Jerry said, "I really am proud of you, Charley."
"Thanks, Jerry," Charley said with a smile as he exchanged a hug with Jerry.
"Okay, well let me get out of here or I'm going to be late," Charley said while releasing from the hug.
"Okay, see you there at eleven," Billy said with a smile and a nod.
"Okay, don't be late, you two!" Charley said while rushing out of the house.
Theme Song: "Every Night I Rock Myself To Sleep" ~ April Wine
As Charley drove down 3rd Street East in Rancho Corvalis, the song, "Every Night I Rock Myself To Sleep" blasted on his car stereo. Tapping his fingers along the steering wheel, Charley's insides were jumping with nerves, happiness, and excitement over the day that lay ahead of him. In just a couple of hours, he would no longer be a high school teenager, he'd be a high school graduate man. Just thinking of it made him smile with joy.
Theme Song: "Moonlight Sonata" ~ Glee
As Charley's car approached the intersection of 3rd Street, the light ahead of him turned green, giving him the okay to cross the intersection. However, just as his car reached the middle of the intersection, a huge eighteen-wheeler raced through the intersection from Charley's left. Charley whipped his head to the left and gaped at the eighteen-wheeler with widened eyes. The truck crashed into Charley's car, causing Charley's car to crash into another car. As Charley yelled in horror, his car flipped over several times before slamming into a nearby street pole and landing upside down.
