When Jack signed up for an exchange program, he presumed it was just another semester abroad. Not a cultural exchange program on a strange, lush planet, with a culture and people trapped between advanced and primitive. Kira was a killer assassin for a good cause. lost both of her parents, learn about Pandora from her father before he died, than her aunt calls for her to join the avatar program; she didn't know of the life changing advantage waiting for her.
