Ch.11: A Dark Alliance
Rage, that was the only thought flowing through Dark Ace's mind as he and his teammates raced throughout the Loonatics headquarters to track down the little duck that they had tried to convert to their side.
Dark Tech and Lexi busily scanned the area, both with tech and super-sensitive ears, trying to figure out just where Duck with their Rev had gone. Problem was, with Duck's teleportation powers, they could be anywhere, and without their natural GPS, it was uncertain when Duck would return and target another Dark Loonatic instead.
"What's his plan?" thought Dark Ace " And who does he see as the bigger threat?"
While wondering that, little known to the Dark Loonatics, Danger Duck's next move was already being put into play.
Trailing behind the rest of his team, Dark Slam stood alert and ready for any order once his leader gave the okay to attack the moment that Duck was near. Then, the faint smell of a sweet scent totally threw him off his guard.
Saliva started to drip as Dark Slam's mind was suddenly overwhelmed with hungry pleasure. Something delicious was near, and it carried the aroma of pizza and ice cream combined. Two of the devil's all-time favorite dishes.
Unable to resist the temptation, Dark Slam stumbled away from the rest of his team, heading for the source of the smell, hardly caring that it was probably a trap.
Once lured inside of a deep, dark room, the door closed shut and Slam was stunned, falling unconscious as he was quacked away to another location, wherever Duck intended Dark Rev to permanently stay.
It took a few minutes for the Dark Loonatics to realize that soon to that Slam was gone. Danger Duck had robbed them of both their speed and their strength, but they still had the brains and the ears to deal with him whenever he decided to come back.
"You think you're clever don't you Duck?" thought Dark Ace in his mind " but we have trained years for this,"
"Tech" said Dark Ace to his companion " turn on the defenses and focus them inward. Set them to search and destroy,"
"With pleasure," said Dark Tech, turning the inner defense systems against Duck.
Immediately, there seemed to be some kind of activity. Dark Lexi twisted and tuned her ears, hearing yelps from far away as a desperate creature teleported from spot to the next.
"This way," said Lexi, with her two dark friends joining her in the run.
The yelps had led to the training room, and once the Dark Loonatics had entered, the door behind them slammed shut tight, trapping them in. Before they could even register that Duck could have possibly led them into a trap, a training simulation turned on, trapping them in a false environment with realistic illusions set to attack and kill.
Dark Lexi and Ace immediately went to work, slicing and blasting away, while Dark Tech busied himself with hacking an escape route, so that they could bolt without much energy or damage being sustained.
That's when Danger struck. Quacking in as quick as light, Duck appeared beside Dark Tech, grabbed the coyote, and teleported out of the room, slamming him with a power egg to the face once they had reappeared in the lab of Loonatics HQ.
Successfully knocked out, Dark Tech crumbled to the floor. Duck grinned, satisfied he had done enough messing with the Dark Loonatics for now, as he dragged Dark Tech where he stashed Dark Slam and Rev, scanning the coyote's hand to open up several different gadgets along the way.
So many dangerous toys…capable of doing very nasty and deadly things.
Duck grinned. Never before had the mallard been tempted to mess with the coyote's tech before, but now, with his dark desires unleashed many sinister thoughts kept on playing through his head.
Not only to destroy the friends who bullied and mistreated him so, but to also to get revenge on the one person who deserved it the most. His former boss herself, Zadavia.
Meanwhile, back with the regular Loonatics, Ace fought hard to contain his worry while Rev focused on using his GPS skills to keep track on Duck and the location of the Dark Loonatics.
The situation was growing out of control fast. They had to put a stop to all of this madness before anything else horrible went down.
"What are we going to Ace?" asked Lexi, looking at her leader with concern in her eyes.
"Good question," thought Ace. At this point he was really just going with the flow.
However, no matter what the obstacle, one goal remained the same. He was going to save Duck and bring him back to their side, bringing anyone who stood in their way unceremoniously down.
"I got something!" said Rev, gaining his friends attention. " Dark Ace and Lexi have been trapped in the training room, while Duck and the others are in Tech's lab. Dark Slam, Tech, and Rev don't seem to be moving, my guess is that they all been immersed in that new, improved gel prison Tech designed before we left."
"At least that only leaves two to take care of" said Lexi " but what is Duck doing in the lab?"
"I'm worried" said Tech " in Duck's altered state there's no telling what he might be planning. And according to Paul Surgio, we have no idea just how deep Duck's darkness lies,"
"Neither did the Dark Loonatics," Slam grumbled.
"What are you thinking Ace?" asked Rev.
"We might have to make a hard call" said Ace " I don't like to think it, but if Duck can be as dark as Paul said, he won't be satisfied with just taking out revenge on us. We may be at fault for underappreciating him, putting him down a little, but there's one person, out of all of us who's been putting him down the most."
For a moment, the others struggled to figure out what person Ace was talking about when suddenly one name popped into their minds all at once. Zadavia!
Although safe, galaxies apart, there was still a slim chance that Duck could reach her using the one important thing on Acmetropolis that they had left behind.
"So, what's the plan Ace?" asked Rev worriedly, looking towards his leader.
"Okay" Ace sighed " Tech, Slam, you two go to the training room and see if you can convince Dark Ace and Lexi to agree to some kind of cease fire. The rest of us will go and take on Duck. With our ship down, there's only one other way to reach Zadavia. Duck will have no choice but use it. We have to stop him no matter what."
With that said, the Loonatics split up to accomplish their tasks, while Ace worried that their dark counterparts would never agree to some sort of alliance. But the method Duck planned to use was way to risky to take the chance.
Not only could he be destroyed, but the whole universe as well. Ace ran and prayed.
"I hope we make it there in time."
