I woke up in the boarding house. It felt so weird living there. I couldn't believe I was living there. I knew it wasn't that safe, considering that there was no protection from vampires, but it still beat the alternative of literally being in the same house as the man that killed my mother. I knew that I didn't have any proof that John Gilbert was the killer, but he had the means and he was also smarter than the rest of the council. Not to mention, he had his ring that prevented him from being killed. Emily made a lot of trouble when she made those.

I headed to the shower. It was nice that every room had its own shower. I was pretty sure that I heard my phone ring. I was going to get out to get it, so it stopped ringing. I heard a voice. Someone had answered my phone and I assumed that it was Damon. I quickly finished and put my robe on before I walked into my room.

"She's crying less than she was two nights ago. She needs you to kiss her all over so she forgets about the pain." Damon declared, and I couldn't help but blush.

"I would say drop dead but…" Elena replied. I wondered if he knew that I was there. He hung up the phone and handed it to me, to which I blushed again. "Your girlfriend called."

I really didn't even know how to react to that. Was Damon like that usually? Was he going to treat me like I was his little sister? Okay, he probably wasn't going to do that, but I could tell that living with him was going to be a challenge. It was possible that I might need to find my own place to avoid such things. I would get to work on that…at some point.

I put on a black scoop neck cutout sweater with a leather miniskirt and black tights. Elena told me that I shouldn't take time off school because it was what she did and all she did was sit around and feel miserable. I did have one piece of experience from being a vampire. In nearly a thousand years, I knew that people died. Many people close to me had died, but known as close as my mother. I had to move on. It was all I could do.

So, I met with Elena at school. However, as soon as we got there, Mr. Saltzman showed up. I wasn't sure if they were on a first name basis with him, but I wasn't.

"Elena, Stefan, I need to talk to you." He told them. I didn't even notice Stefan was behind me

"What about Anna?" Elena asked.

"This matter doesn't really concern her." He remarked. I couldn't help but wonder if he didn't trust me because I stole the journal.

"Anything that you want to say to me, you can say in front of my girlfriend." She declared.

"Okay, fine, just get Damon here." He stated. We then headed to his classroom.

"So, what's going on?" Stefan asked as I took a seat on one of the desks.

"Isobel is back." The man explained. "She came to the Grill last night and threatened to go on a killing spree if she doesn't get to see Elena."

Didn't she know that killing sprees never worked? It was one of the dumbest moves that a vampire could make.

We then waited for Damon to arrive because apparently he had to be there for some reason. I wasn't even sure why. It wasn't long before he arrived.

"Sorry I'm late. Dog ate my…" He started before he noticed our serious faces. "What's going on?"

"Isobel's back." Alaric explained.

"You mean Elena's mother and his wife, Isobel?" Damon asked.

"Do you know any others?" I responded in annoyance.

"Did you ask her about Uncle John?" Damon asked. That might have been a good idea.

"No." Alaric replied.

"Are they working together?" Damon questioned.

"No." Ric replied.

"No, they're not, or no, you didn't ask?" Damon responded.

"I didn't ask." He clarified.

"What about the invention?" Damon inquired.

"Didn't ask." Alaric said.

"Does she know about the tomb vampires?" Damon asked.

"I don't know." Alaric replied.

"Did words completely escape you?" Damon questioned in frustration.

"I'm sorry. I was a bit too distracted by my dead vampire wife to ask any questions." The teacher told us in annoyance.

"Well what does she want?" Damon replied.

"She wants to see me." Elena declared.

"You don't have to see her if you don't want me." He stated. It normally would be sweet.

"I kind of do." Elena said.

"She said that she'll go on a killing spree if she doesn't see Elena." Stefan remarked.

"Oh…I'm guessing that's not okay with you guys." Damon declared. Did that mean that he didn't have a problem with it?

"I want to meet her." She responded. "I have a feeling that I'll regret it if I don't."

I had a feeling that she would regret it if she did. What kind of person leaves their husband to become a vampire?

I then went to the Grill with Elena. I decided that I wasn't going to stay where she see could see me because I didn't know what Isobel knew. I still needed to be close. Elena was seated alone at a table. I then watched as a woman who looked nothing like her sat down. She was Elena's mother? I expected her to look like Charisma Carpenter or Jennifer Connelly.

"Hello, Elena." She greeted. "My god you look just like her."

"You've met Katherine?" Elena asked.

"She would be fascinated by you." Isobel stated. She must not have spent much time with Katherine or she would know that Katherine didn't care about stuff like that.

"Why did you compel that man to kill himself after he told me to stop looking?" Elena asked. The better question was why kill Trudie Peterson?

"Dramatic impact. I wish it had been more effective." Isobel answered. The only person that kept looking for her was her husband, whose reasons were pretty legitimate.

"Who is my father?" Elena questioned.

"He was a teenage waste of space." Isobel declared. "Did anyone tell you that you ask a lot of questions?"

"Do you not care that I'm trying to get to know you?" Elena replied.

"I don't care about anything. That's beauty of being what I am." Isobel stated.

"No, you're wrong. I know other vampires and that's not what it's like." Elena argued.

"You mean like your friend over there?" Isobel asked. Hm, she seemed like she didn't know we were dating. I might be able to use that to my advantage. "How is it that you managed to hook up with one of the oldest vampires on the planet?"

We hadn't ever talked about my age. I wondered if it was going to come up now.

"What do you want?" Elena finally asked. It seemed that she realized that she wasn't going to get any other answers out of her.

"I want what your uncle wants. Jonathan Gilbert's invention." Isobel told her.

"I don't have it." Elena said. "I don't even know where it is."

"But Damon does and I know you can get it from him." Isobel remarked. "If you don't, the blood will be on your hands."

Elena then went over to me as soon as she was gone. She looked crushed. I couldn't imagine what she was going through. Her biological mother was a bitch. There was no other way to put it.

"I can't believe this. How did this happen?" She asked. "Why did I get stuff with such a terrible person as a mother? Are you okay with me talking about this?"

"Elena, she is not your mother." I told her. "I don't care what your genes say. Both of our mothers are dead."

"How is it that you know what to say to help me feel better?" She questioned. I couldn't help but want to kill her for making Elena cry, but I wasn't that kind of person. I didn't want to be that kind of person.

The next day, I went to school because we would be working on the Miss Mystic Falls float. Caroline had chosen the theme of Gone with the Wind. I didn't like that movie. It wasn't accurate. They could have put the vampires in it. Dracula was a thing, even though the real Dracula was a smelly wuss.

Elena went inside to talk to Bonnie alone. The witch still resented me for kidnapping her. I couldn't help but think that maybe I should apologize for that. Anyway, Elena came back out and I decided to give her a kiss.

"Hm, maybe you're more than friends." Isobel interrupted.

"Don't you have to be a bitch somewhere else?" I asked.

"I told you what I want and you're running out of time to give it to me." She declared. "I've been some studying. There's the witchy best friend, Bonnie. I'm gonna stay away from her. Caroline, the chatterbox who told me everything. She had no idea who I was but she wouldn't stop yapping. Sad little brother Jeremy, and Matt the cute ex and Yappy's future ex. Did I do good?"

"I'm not going to give it to you." Elena stated.

"Well that's too bad because I have some friends too." Isobel stated. "You see that man in the cowboy hat. His name is Frank and he's very handy. He's note that float your ex is working on has a damaged axle and all you have to do is apply a little bit of pressure…"

With that, Frank jumped on the float causing it to collapse on Matt's arm. I knew I could lift it off, but that wouldn't look good. Fortunately, a group of guys led by Stefan and Tyler pulled it off of him.

"Why are you doing this?" Elena asked. I had a bad feeling something else was wrong.

"I already told you." Isobel replied. "By the way, if you want to see your brother again, you'll give me the invention tonight."

I then looked to where Jeremy had been and he was gone. I couldn't believe it. The whole thing with Matt had been a diversion. I could kill Isobel, but then we wouldn't know where she was keeping Jeremy.

We had to go back to the boarding house to regroup. Apparently, Bonnie was going to depower the invention, which seemed to be a weapon against vampires. I couldn't believe that Emily went behind our backs like that. Sure, Katherine didn't treat her the best, but my mother and I were never anything but kind to her. Was she that self-righteous that she didn't believe that there were good vampires?

After some bargaining, we managed to get Damon to give the invention to us. Bonnie cast some kind of spell to make it float. I wasn't sure if she depowered it, but she definitely did something. We then headed to the Grill. Elena was on the ground with Stefan and Damon and I was on the roof in case Isobel brought other vampires with her. I wasn't sure why we giving her the invention. As soon as she revealed Jeremy's location, we could easily kill her, especially since no one else seemed to be around.

She didn't have Jeremy with her. She actually sent him home. For some reason, they still gave the device to her. They definitely could have killed her. I was pretty sure that Elena would be okay with it because she mentioned what a colossal disappointment she was.

Anyway, I gave her a kiss goodbye before I went back to the boarding house. That was when I heard Damon telling Stefan that he was pretty sure John was her father. That…made sense. All I could tell was that there was going to be awkward conversation when I told Elena about it.
