Founder's Day was not something that I was looking forward to. I didn't want to go to a festival celebrating the people that had killed my mother. Yet, here I was, wearing a blue floral Southern Belle dress with a white underskirt. I knew that being on the Miss Mystic Falls court meant that I would have to be in the parade. I knew that the main reason that I was doing it was for Elena. She needed me to be there and it was going to be really awkward telling her what I had to tell her, but she needed to know.

I had to walk to town square because my dress wouldn't fit in the car. I was pretty sure that the reason that large dresses fell out of favor had to do with the invention of the car. They should sent a carriage to pick us up so we wouldn't have to walk then, but they probably didn't want to spend money on that.

When I got there, I began to look for Elena. Technically, Jeremy was going to be my escort again, but I was looking for my love. I had to tell her before the parade started. Unfortunately, I was a bit awestruck when I saw her.

She was wearing an amber sleeveless dress with a green sash around her waist. Her hair was curled. When I first saw her, I thought that I was looking at Katherine. Of course, I wasn't.

"You look amazing." She told me. "Was this what you dressed like back then?"

"No, my mother wouldn't let me dress like this." I explained. "You look really good too, but I'm not here to talk about that right now. I have something important to tell you. You see, I overheard Stefan and Damon talking last night and Damon thinks John is your father."

"John? As in my uncle?" She asked me.

"Yeah your dad kind of killed my mom." I confirmed.

"Are you sure that it's true?" She questioned.

"No, but I think that there's too much evidence to deny it at this point." I replied. "Why are you and Caroline wearing the same color dress?"

"They're different colors." She argued.

"They're basically the same. The only difference is yours is a bit darker." I pointed out. Caroline had long sleeves like I did, but I thought that would have planned it out better. "Now we should probably head to the float."

The parade was…really not that fun. There really wasn't much for us to do but stand there. Amber had not shown up, so it was just the four of us. The only real difference between us was the fact that Caroline had the sash. I probably stuck out more. If not for the fact that my mother and I were vampires, we wouldn't get much respect in Virginia. I knew that race relations were a big deal, but I really wasn't as big on equality that I could have been. It was probably because of my time in time in New Orleans. Race was not an issue there.

After the parade, I got to change into some more comfortable clothes. Those dresses really weren't me, despite the fact that I had worn fancy dresses for the majority of my life. We got changed at the school, but in different places. Once I was done, I began to look for Elena.

"We need to talk." Jeremy told me.

"Are you giving me the overprotective brother speech?" I quipped. I then noticed that he had a serious look on his face. "Okay, that was a bad joke."

"I know that you're a vampire." He told me.

"Jeremy, I would never hurt Elena." I stated. "Things have changed in the past few months. Originally, she was just a key to getting my mom back, but now I feel different. I love her. She's all that I have left now that my mom is gone."

"What happened to your mom?" He asked.

"Your uncle, Elena's father killed her." I explained. "Are we good now?"

He was silent for a moment. He looked like he wanted to tell me something else, but I couldn't figure out what.

"Jeremy, we were close before you found out that I didn't like you. Tell me what's on your mind." I said.

"You looked really pretty in your dress today." He said.

"Thanks, but I don't see where this is going." I admitted.

"I was kind of jealous." He declared.

"Wait, jealous how?" I questioned. Was he jealous of me being a vampire?

"Jealous of how you looked in it." He said.

Okay, this was uncommon, but being alive for so long, I knew exactly what he was talking about. It had been a while since I had been around someone like that.

"So, you're saying that you're transgender?" I asked.

"Yeah." Jeremy replied.

"Oh thank god. I thought you wanted me to turn you into a vampire." I stated. He (or she?) frowned. "Look, I can help you with this, but I'm not sure what you want to do, and I still don't want to come to your house as long as your uncle is around. Have you told Elena about this?"

"No, we're not really talking right now." Jeremy responded.

"Why not?" I asked.

"Because she erased my memories about what happened to Vicki." Jeremy told me.

"Would you even want to remember someone that you loved trying to kill you?" I challenged. "She made a judgment call. Whether or not it was the right one is up to interpretation. How about I ask you this question? If the roles were reversed, what would you do?"

"I don't know." She admitted.

"You really should tell her about this. She'll understand that you want to be a girl." I stated.

"I guess I can do that later." She agreed.

At that point, I went to the square and that was when I noticed a problem. There were several of the tomb vampires around. A few of them had daylight rings. I couldn't help but think that something bad was going to happen. I followed one of them to a meeting and I decided to stay hidden.

It turned out that they were planning an attack on the Founding Families. I wasn't sure why they couldn't just let it go and move on. Nothing good happens when you go for revenge. I would have to warn people, so we could get ready. It was not a good time to disable the weapon that could hurt vampires. We could take the time to get all of the vampires out.

I decided to find Damon, Stefan and Alaric. The teacher probably had the most weapons, and the two of them were experienced at killing vampires.

"So we have a big problem." I remarked. "I caught the remaining tomb vampires having a meeting about an attack that is supposed to happen tonight as soon as the fireworks go off. We need to get ready to stop them. A lot of people are going to die if we don't do something."

"I have a bunch of weapons at the school in my desk." Alaric declared. I couldn't help but wonder how the school didn't know about that. There were probably numerous laws that he was breaking there.

"I'll go get them." Stefan volunteered.

I then had to find Elena and tell her about this. This was a nightmare. There were a bunch of people that I wanted to save and it was going to so difficult. It was why I didn't like to care about people. I wouldn't have attachments if something like this happened.

I found Elena just outside of the Grill. She saw me and she smiled and puckered up a little.

"Elena, I would love to kiss you right now, but it's really not the time." I explained. "Remember those vampires from the tomb? Well they're here and they want to kill all of the members of the Founding Families. I need to get you out of here. And we also need to find Jeremy. By the way, Jeremy has something to tell you, but it's definitely something that can wait until we're all free from homicidal vampires. Also I love you, I just want to tell you that in case I don't make it out of this because your safety is more important than my own."

"We'll figure out how to stop this." She said before the fireworks went off. It was at that time that I heard a loud screeching. I covered my eyes up. It was so painful. I didn't know what it was. I couldn't keep my eyes open.

Elena's POV

I watched as Anna grabbed her head in surprise. It was that I noticed other people went down as well.

"Make it stop." She cried. I then noticed that several men were rounding up the vampires. I also saw that someone was coming towards us.

"Hey, I've got this one." Alaric interrupted as he handed the man a stake. "Take this because I saw two more vampires over there.

Anna's POV

Suddenly, the shrieking stopped. I didn't know what happened but I saw Elena and Alaric in front of me.

"Are you okay?" She asked.

"It was like I was having a seizure and I couldn't do anything about it." I explained. "I'm going to kill Bonnie."

"What are you talking about?" Elena questioned. "She deactivated the device."

"She obviously didn't." I declared. "We asked her to disable a weapon that could hurt vampires. She at least could have given us a bit of warning first."

"We need to find Stefan and Damon." She stated.

"Stefan went to the school to get some weapons." Alaric stated. Elena took out her phone and he answered. Well that solved one problem. I couldn't help but wonder if I should find Jeremy and make sure that she was okay. "There were taking the vampires to your dad's old building."

I ended up going to the building with Elena. There we were met by Stefan. I had a feeling that Damon was inside. This was going to be a problem.

"Where's Damon?" Elena asked her father.

"He's inside with the rest of them, where he should be." John explained before he looked at Stefan and I. "Go in and try to save him. It'll just save me the time of killing you myself."

"Is there another entrance?" Stefan asked.

"There's a side utility door." I answered as Stefan ran towards it. We were about to follow him when he stopped Elena.

"You take one more step and tell these men they missed a vampire." He declared.

"I'm asking you not to." She told him. I didn't know why she thought that would help.

"That doesn't mean anything to me." He remarked.

"As my father it should." Elena stated. He was surprised by that.

"You know." He replied.

"I do now." She corrected as she took me to the side of the building. That's where Bonnie was.

"This is all your fault you know. If you weren't going to dispel the device, you could have told us about it." I said to her. "We need to do something to save Damon."

Bonnie then grabbed my arm and I realized that she was channeling me. It was about a minute later that Stefan and Damon came out of the building and there was a sudden blast. I quickly grabbed Elena and Bonnie and got them out of the way.

We then went to the school. It was definitely an interesting night.

"Well that was a lot of excitement." I commented. "Don't think that I want to do it again anytime soon."

"So, the story is that the building's old wiring malfunctioned and that was what caused the fire." She explained. The mayor had been in there. I knew why he was affected by the device, but I wasn't sure if I should say anything about it.

"Well I'm going to go back to the boarding house. Talk to Jeremy. Also call me when you get home." I told her.

"I will. I love you." She said.

"I love you too." I replied before I kissed her and went back to the boarding house. I still felt that something was wrong, but for right now, I was glad that I had made it through the night.

So, for starters, Jeremy is transgender. And no one died important on Founder's Day, but things are going to get crazy as soon as Katherine gets back. I haven't decided on whether or not to post a new story or continue this one. Please don't forget to review.
