The nice thing about being a thousand year old vampire was the heightened sense of awareness. While my regular senses were increased, some things you only learn with time. I couldn't read minds but I could usually tell what people were thinking by looking at them. There actually was a spell that would allow me to read minds, but again I didn't have a spellbook and Bonnie would not let me see hers. To be honest, I hadn't even seen her since I had accidentally made the daylight ring. Elena told me that she was visiting her family or something. The other thing was also very good at pretending to be asleep.

"You're staring." I told Elena. I had spent the night in her room and the two of us were naked under the covers. My eyes were closed but I could still tell that she was looking at me voyeuristically.

"I'm gazing." She argued. What did that even mean?

"It's kind of creepy." I stated. It was actually very creepy to watch someone as they slept.

"It's romantic." She countered. I then turned away from her. I actually was a little bit tired, but I was pretty sure that I was not about to get more sleep. My thoughts were confirmed when she squeezed my butt through the covers.

She then kissed me and the two of us started to roll around the covers. We didn't have any toys but I still was happy about just being with her. After we were done, we sat up and I grabbed my bra off the floor where it had been since last night and put it on.

"I missed being with you." Elena said. To be honest, I didn't know why we hadn't done it sooner. It wasn't like Katherine had someone spying in the house. Maybe it was because we knew that Caroline was no longer spying for her. "Now I need a shower."

"Okay, let's go." I suggested. We hadn't sex in the shower yet and there was a position that I really wanted to show her.

"No just me. I'm decorating for the masquerade and I don't want to be late." She explained.

"What a coincidence because I am also doing that." I stated. "And it would save time if we showered together."

"The thing is we shouldn't arrive together." Elena pointed out. I sighed, but she was probably right. "We should avoid all eye contact whatsoever, including lingering stares. Definitely no lingering stares."

She then got up to go to the bathroom. I just put on my old clothes because I would have to wait to shower. I decided to head to Mary's room to talk to her. I supposed another reason that we were celebrating Mary's birthday. I had even compelled the lady at the DMV to put female on her driver's license.

"So I talked to Alaric and he said that the moonstone that is mentioned in the curse has been seen with the Lockwood family." She explained. "I can try to get it from Tyler."

"It would be much easier if I did it." I stated. "Since Tyler hasn't killed anyone, he's not a full werewolf and he can be compelled."

"You have to kill someone to become a werewolf?" She asked in surprise.

"It doesn't have to be murder." I explained. "It can be an accident. Some of the werewolves that I have friends with told me they didn't mean to kill the person that they did, but let's not talk about that. Let's talk about your car. How do you like it?"

"How did you know the exact right car to get me?" She asked as she grabbed her keys.

"Well I know that you love the environment, so a hybrid seemed like a no-brainer." I stated. I got her a new Prius. I told Jenna I had inherited the money.

"Speaking of hybrids…" She said. I supposed that I was a hybrid witch/vampire but I was much better at the latter than the former.

"I'll talk to Bonnie to see if she'll let me look at her grimoire but I'm sure that she won't." I declared. "She kind of hates me."

"Maybe you should apologize to her." Mary suggested. It was then that I realized I had never done that. I had been meaning to, but I never got around to doing it.

"That is a good idea." I commented before I heard Elena coming out of the bathroom. I then rushed upstairs to get in the shower.

After I got out, I put on a black lace sweater that stopped just above my midriff and a jean shorts with a pair of black knee socks and boots.

I went with Mary to the Lockwoods since I couldn't go with Elena. The first person that I saw was the mayor.

"Hi, Anna, is it?" She asked. I nodded before she looked at Mary. "So you go by Mary now?"

"Yeah." Mary said. "Thank you for getting it right."

"Your mother would be proud of you." Mayor Lockwood told her. Before anyone could say anything else, Tyler and Mason almost dropped a table they were carrying. She ran over. "Boys, that's an antique."

At that point, Jenna walked over to us.

"Hey, Anna. You know I'm glad that you and Elena got back together." She said. Why did she think that we back together?

"We're not…" I lied.

"Really because that's not what it sounded like this morning." She said with a grin. I blushed a shade of red that I wasn't even sure existed before. "You know what? I heard nothing."

The next thing that I needed to do was talk to Tyler. You know this plan might fall apart if he was on vervain, but I didn't think he was.

"Hey, Tyler." I said before started a compulsion. "I'd like to ask you a question. Do you know about a moonstone."

"Yes." He droned.

"Where is it?" I asked.

"I gave it to my uncle." He answered.

"Good, now go back to whatever you were doing." I told him.

Knowing it was with Mason didn't make things easier since it would be harder to get that information out of him. It was a good thing that I didn't kill him because then we wouldn't have been able to obtain it. I started to look for him. I found him outside talking to Stefan.

"Hey, Stefan." Mason greeted him nervously. "I wasn't expecting you here…or anywhere."

"Yeah, I had this little accident, but I'm fine now." Stefan answered with a smile.

"What did you do to Sheriff Forbes?" Mason asked accusingly.

"She's fine too, but from now on you'll have to fight your own battles." Stefan told him.

At that point, Mason hastily exited, bumping into Bonnie in the process, who was conveniently the next person that I needed to talk to.

"That was weird." Bonnie said.

"What?" Stefan asked as I rushed over.

"When I touched him, I saw him and Elena kissing." She answered.

"No, you didn't see Elena," I corrected. "You saw Katherine."

I didn't know why she would be kissing Mason. Maybe it was because she was the only one she could count on to get her off since I wouldn't and her second choice Stefan also wouldn't. Bonnie then started to walk away before I grabbed her.

"Bonnie, wait." I requested. I knew I had about 5 seconds before she tried to use her magic on me. "I'm sorry. I realized that I never said that to you. I'm sorry for kidnapping you and I'm sorry that your grandma died getting my mom out of the tomb. Now will you please stop hating me?"

"It's not that I hate you. It's just I don't trust vampires." She admitted. While it was probably a good idea, it was still a bit bigoted. "I'm sorry about what happened to your mom. Now we should probably discuss this some more with Stefan…and Damon."

We got Damon over and gave him a quick rundown of the situation.

"Katherine's with Mason Lockwood?" He asked in disbelief. "Werewolf aside, the guy's a surfer. She's gotta be using him."

"Since when do you care about who Katherine is dating?" I asked. It was quite strange if you ask me. It did bring up a point of what she was using him for and I was pretty sure that it was more than just sex. She could compel that if she wanted to.

"It makes sense because they arrived around the same time," Stefan said.

"But he came for his brother's funeral." Bonnie pointed out. It was possible that Katherine helped plan the death but I didn't think that she was likely because she didn't have any way of knowing he would die even if she had known the device would affect him.

"Well Tyler said that he has the moonstone needed for the curse." I stated. "We can't kill him until we find out where it is."

At that moment, my phone rang. It was Elena asking me what I was doing.

"I'm with Stefan, Damon and Bonnie." I replied. "I'll fill you in later."

"Stefan, Damon and Bonnie? Fill me in NOW." She texted me back.

"I need to go fill Elena in." I announced before I walked away and called her.

"So what's going on?" She asked.

"Mason and Katherine are working together…and also sleeping together." I explained. "It's kind of weird."

I then headed over to see Bonnie giving Mason an aneurysm. He quickly fell over to the ground unconscious.

"Can you teach me how to do that?" I asked.

"No because then you could do it to me." She answered.

"Bonnie, do you really think that low of me." I questioned. You know it took a lot to hurt my feelings but that did.

"I don't…" She said. She seemed to be flustered by the look on my face. "I just don't feel comfortable letting you learn magic when you're already so powerful."

"I don't understand how I can even do magic, but the only thing that I want to do with it help Mary with her gender transition."

"There's not a spell for that in Emily's spellbook." She replied. "I already checked."

"Another reason that I want to learn more magic is that Katherine doesn't know that I can do magic." I pointed out. "She knows that you can do magic but if I were to cast a spell, it would catch her off guard."

"I don't have time to teach you anything right now." Bonnie said. "I have to go help find this moonstone."

I decided to stick around because I didn't want to leave Mary again. I needed to get back to her and at least give her the update. I found her looking through some dresses. Were they just okay with people taking them? I thought it would be better to buy one because she was a size zero with literally no chest and that's a lot coming someone who was basically flat herself.

"So I got some news from Bonnie. Emily's spellbook doesn't have a way to turn you into a girl." I explained.

"Damn." She replied.

"I will find a way to do this, but it's probably going to take some time." I remarked. "You are going to have to be patient though."

"So do you think any of these will look on me?" She asked as she continued to look through the dresses.

"Unless we could shrink them, probably not." I stated. "I'll get you something that we can get customized. You just don't seem like the type to go to a masquerade."

"I've never got to go as a girl before." She pointed out. That was a good point. At that point, I got another text. "Who's that?"

"Damon. Apparently the moonstone is in a well." I stated before I realized where it was. "I know where it is. Come on."

I took her to an old well on the Lockwood property. They had a lot of property. Interestingly, my mom's property went to the Gilberts, which was then sold to make the school. It was covered and locked but that was nothing that I couldn't deal with. I quickly tore it off. I then started to take my boots off.

"What are you doing?" Mary asked me.

"I'd rather not get my clothes off so I'm taking them off," I explained as I stripped to my bra and panties. It was a little cold but it wasn't something that I couldn't handle.

"Are you sure that you'll be able to get out of there?" She asked. It did look deep but I was a really good jumper.

"Yeah. I'll only be down there for a second." I declared before I headed into the water. As soon as I went down, I felt a burning sensation against my skin. There was more than just water in there. I should have realized that Mason wasn't as dumb as he looked. "Mary! Help! Vervain!"

With that I couldn't help but lose consciousness. I couldn't believe that I had jumped into a trap. I felt so stupid.

I wasn't sure how long I was out. The next thing I remembered, my mouth was being filled with some blood. I slowly opened my eyes and noticed that it was Mary's hand. I saw her and Caroline and Bonnie were there and I also saw a little white rock.

"You're okay." Mary said as she hugged me.

"How did I get out of there?" I asked. I still felt kind of weak. I needed more blood but I would have to wait for that.

"Mary got you out and I helped." Caroline explained. "I guess Mason was smarter than we thought."

"Speaking of Mason, is he…?" Mary asked.

"Yeah." Caroline explained.

I put my clothes on, glad that I hadn't worn them in the well because there was a good chance that they would have been ruined, and headed home. I needed to take a shower. I did not like taking multiple showers in a day, but this was an obvious exception.

About a minute after I was inside, the door opened and I saw that Elena was there.

"I know this is going to sound weird, but I'm kind of hungry now." I said before I bit into her wrist. After I pulled away, I noticed the wound was not healing, so it wasn't Katherine.

After that we had a quite steamy shower and I was able to show her the position that I had been wanting to. Let's just say that it was a very different way to wash each other's hair. We got out with a little bit of time before dinner. I put the same clothes on while Elena went to go get changed. I headed downstairs where Mary was in the living room playing some video games and Jenna was cooking dinner before the phone rang and Jenna answered it.

"So what are you playing?" I asked

"MLB The Show." She said. Oh yeah she got that for her birthday too. It was the one place where the Nationals could be good.

"It's for you." Jenna told me as she handed the phone to me.

"Hello, Annabelle." Katherine greeted me.

"Katherine." I replied.

"Did you honestly think that you could get away with this secret relationship with Elena. You learned about Caroline but she wasn't the only one I had spying on you. A couple weeks ago I convinced Jenna to switch perfumes and let's just say that I know all about your sexy times this morning." She stated. I blushed. I really wished that even under compulsion, Jenna hadn't told her that. "I also suggested that the world would be better without her."

Suddenly, without warning Jenna grabbed a knife and stabbed herself in the gut. She fell over right as Elena came down.

"What happened?" She asked.

"Katherine compelled her to kill herself." I told her.

"So heal her." Elena ordered.

"I can't." I replied. "If I do that, Katherine could turn her into a vampire like she did Caroline. Call 911."

The ambulance took her to the hospital and she was in surgery. They said that it was probably non-life threatening. I wished that I knew a healing spell. I had to be the most useless witch in the world.

"We were stupid to think that we could get away with this." Elena said through her tears. "She did it. She's won. We might as well give her what she wants. I'm sorry, Anna. I love you but I can't be with you right now."

I kissed her before I walked away. I was heartbroken but mostly I was pissed. Katherine was not going to live past the masquerade ball.

So just as predicted, Anna and Elena broke up. Also it doesn't look like Mary will have sex changed anytime soon. On the plus side, Anna and Bonnie might just become friends. Please don't forget to review.
