Chapter 21: I'm not a human am I?
[Day after conversation]
Sydney's POV
I was downstairs sitting on the couches with the rest of the family because Carlisle had called a family meeting. We were all sitting in the living room waiting, Carlisle said he had something to show us. I was in Emmett's arms nervous about what he had found. I was still worried about that dream I had about John (her dad). I didn't know how this "power" if you can even call it that, worked. Carlisle came down the stairs with a book in his hand and a curious look on his face. "Ok, everyone, I think I know what is going on with Sydney, or at least what she is." Everyone snapped there heads to him, "What do you mean 'What I am' am I not human?" I asked he shook his head "I don't believe so If I'm right about this, then no your not human" He flipped the book so everyone could see the page he was reading. There was a picture of an angle with beautiful, large, white wings holding a baby in her hands. Both of them had golden crowns on their heads covered in jewels and crystals. It looked familiar like I had seen the crown the baby was wearing before. "This is a very old legend that was told around the 1100s and died out around the 1500s. It's called 'The Legend of Ailsa the Asterian Goddess."
I looked at the picture of the woman and she looked so familiar yet, I had never met her before. "So what is this legend exactly," I asked. Carlisle turned the book back towards him and began reading. "Centuries ago there was a kingdom full of Asteria's, a magical being that is a mixture between a warlock, an angel, and an elf. There lived a king and queen who ruled the land with love and harmony. The queen fell pregnant and gave birth to a baby girl that she named Ailsa, which is the name of the stunning islet in the Clyde, which is also nicknamed as the 'Island of Alfisgr'. The name also translates to 'elf victory'. As the queen became older she became jealous of her daughter. She knew she would grow to be the most strongest Asterian in history so the queen tried to eliminate her. The king was able to stop her and banished his wife however, he was wounded in the battle against his wife and could no longer fly as his wing was damaged. However the queen was sneaky, she became friends with a powerful warlock and was given powers no one could stop. The king knew that his daughter would be powerful, powerful enough to stop his once first love.
The queen knew this as well, she created an army and sought to destroy her own kingdom. The queen wanted the throne to herself but also wanted her daughter's beauty and power. She knew the only way to get what she wanted was to kill her. The king knew he needed to protect his daughter and did the hardest thing he could ever do. He took her to the human world to keep her safe from her mother. The king knew the queen would never look in the human world, so he left her at an orphanage. The king put a spell on the girl so her powers wouldn't show until her 18th birthday. The king just hoped that he would be reunited with his child again." Carlisle finished.
Everyone sat there shocked, "Wait, wait, wait, so you're telling me that I'm a princess of some long lost kingdom of angels?" I asked. He nodded his head, "Quite possibly, yes" this couldn't be real, there was no way. "There's NO way I could be the princess of anything, how do we even know this kingdom exists. This could be just an old legend from centuries ago that someone made up to explain something they didn't understand at the time. We have science now and can give rational explanations to crazy thing happening." He continued "Well weren't supposed to exist but here we are. Said Emmett. "We don't know if this is true but in the story, it says that you'll gain all of your powers on your 18th birthday," Jasper said. I looked at Emmett and said, "How can this be real, how can this be happening?!"
