"Mama, who is Patrick?"

Their oldest offspring not only asked who Patrick was but also raised her hand to ask. Awesome.

"Nobody.. just.. an old friend. Can I keep going?"

Nods all around, the little ones were already dozing off, but the ones able to understand a good story when they heard one, were wide awake.

"Now.. where was I? Oh.. right.. Patrick. Screaming."

Kai watched, one eyebrow raised and an amused smirk on her face as Marie entered the kitchen looking every bit regretful of the night before. "So.. Patrick, eh?"

"I don't want to talk about it."

Kaida nodded, finally fed up after years of the same crap, "What do you want to talk about? Dad? Mom? The fact that you and mom can't seem to just let things go? Can't move on? Should we talk about Dean? God knows you've got feelings for him! I'm trying here, Marie, I'm trying so fucking hard but I'm tired of being shut out! I'm sick of you treating me like I'm not your sister. Like I'm not in the middle of this as well. Like you are the only one here whose hurting! Let me in!"

"NO!" Marie screamed. Despite the pounding in her head, she continued, "I'm done letting people in. And you know what, I'd done with this.. all of this." She gestured to herself, Kai and their surroundings. "I quit."

And with that being said, the older Ford sister turned heel and left, leaving Kaida stunned into silence with a rapidly cooling breakfast in front of her.

Within minutes Marie had gathered her bags, gotten into her mustang and driven away.

-Two hours later-

"Call me if you hear anything from her, okay?"

"Will do." Bobby promised, after replacing the phone down onto the receiver he turned to find Dean in the doorway.

Dean nodded toward the phone, "Why's Kaida calling? Everything okay?"

"It's Marie. She took off a few hours ago, apparently they had a big fight and she quit. Took her things, left Kaida behind and drove off."

"Maybe she's just got to clear her head." Dean replied.

As the words left his mouth even Dean had a hard time believing them.

Bobby grunted in response. Dean walked out back pulling his phone from his pocket and hit the familiar name in his contacts list.

It was sent to voicemail halfway through the first ring. "I'm going to try and ignore the fact that you just sent my call to voicemail." He signed, "Whatever it is you're holding on to, whatever y'all fought about, whatever it is going on in that head of yours - I'm here. Call me. You know who this is."

Six months later

"Alright, sugar, what can I get for you..?" The words quickly died on Marie's lips as she lifted her head to get a look at the customer sitting in her section.

"I'll take a cup of coffee, if you have it."

"..Dean.." His name fell from her lips like a whisper.

He smirked and she swore her heart skipped a beat.

"Hey Marie. It uh.. it took me a while but I finally found you. Did you miss me?"

She turned heel as she replied, her brain already in overdrive. "Can't say I have, no."

He stood, following after her. "Hey.." He gently grabbed her elbow, turning her back to face him, "We both know that's a goddamned lie."

"Ooooh daddy says a lot of bad words!"

Marie laughed, covering her mouth as Dean shot her a look. "Yes, I do. But I'm an adult, so it's okay, right?"

"Daddy you owe a dollar to the swear jar!"

Dean groaned, swiping his hand down his face. "But that doesn't count, it's in the past! Past tense, already happened, there wasn't even a swear jaw back then!" He whined. Marie snorted, "You're such a baby, just cough up the dollar and continue with the story."

"..Fine." He left the room to grab a dollar from his wallet and came back not only with his wallet but the swear jar as well. "Happy?"

His wife laughed, "Amused beyond measure, babe."

After reluctantly stuffing a dollar into the swear jar his oldest had created he cleared his throat. "Alright.. where was I?..."

She shrugged out of his grasp, though it wasn't hard, he'd never hurt her. Hell, he'd never keep her if she didn't want to stay.

"Just.. don't.. Dean. Let it go. Let me go."

"I can't do that." He swallowed roughly. "He's gone, Marie. Your father. His heart gave out."

Marie stumbled back as if someone had pushed her. Her shoulders slumped and it seemed as if all the energy had just drained from her body in an instant. "When?" Was the only word she could manage to get out. "Three days ago, when I found you I tried like hell to get here as fast as I could but I got the call on the road, I.. I'm so sorry."

Her legs gave out from under her and Dean caught her, swinging her into his arms before she could get very far, she buried her face in his chest. He felt the moisture from her tears before he felt and heard her sobs. "Shhh, it's okay sweetheart, I've got you."
