BPOV

The seven vampires I was observing were interesting. Three of them had powers, all of which I had read in the file I was given. Alice, the short pixie like woman, was currently having a vision. Her energetic energy I had read about was not visible, instead she looked noticeably irritated. Jasper held his head in his hands, clearly trying to project calmness her way. Edward stared continuously at Alice, watching her vision unfold in his own head. Intrigued, I peeked as well, stifling a laugh as I recognized what she was seeing. It was myself, sitting in the exact tree that I was, however only a shadow appeared in the vision version of the event. As Alice came out of the vision, two heads whipped in the general direction I was in. I stayed still, knowing I wouldn't be spotted easily, even with their superior vision.

Stuck forever at the age of seventeen, I was quite mature due to my upbringing. My icy blue eyes against my tanned skin often turned heads. My hair was waist length, a dark mahogany that stayed perfectly curled almost all day and night. I looked ordinary. I was ordinary. Running at lightning speed, being practically invincible, having superhuman powers and being basically a Princess were all very ordinary characteristics. Right?

I stayed perched in my tree for a couple hours more, the sun slowly setting. Now was my time to make contact, so I easily jumped down and started the short journey to the house. I slowed my heart rate to what a normal human's would be at and stared at the house as I came closer to it. I had diverted from the forest path to the main road before walking down their long driveway. Uncle Caius had told me many times how Carlisle had a heart of gold, and I was hoping that would be true. I knocked swiftly a couple times before taking a small step back, listening as the sound of footsteps came closer. The door opened revealing Carlisle Cullen right in front of me.

"Hi there, I'm so sorry about the interruption. I was exploring the area behind my house, and just kept walking and walking and now I'm afraid I may have gotten lost. Could you possibly point me in the direction of Ware Boulevard?" I half smiled to avoid dazzling him, no need to ruin my facade so early in the game. I spoke a bit faster than I usually would, the nerves I was feeling pushing through. I could hear the rest of the inhabitants of the home murmuring, something about how Alice and I could be twins from the energy Jasper was feeling emitting from me.

"No problem, those woods can be tricky sometimes. You must be part of the family that just bought that land on Ware then? The town has been talking non stop since the property was finally bought after being vacant for so long." I nodded by agreement before he continued. "I'm Carlisle Cullen. As you learnt today our properties back onto one another, although a few miles of forest technically separate us."

"I did learn that today, yes," I laughed lightly. "I'm Isabella V-Swan, but please call me Bella." I brushed a piece of hair behind my ear as I mentally chastised myself for the near slip. Carlisle eyes flitted to the bracelet on my wrist, making me quickly lower the arm.

"How about I drive you home, it's getting quite dark and I'd feel more comfortable knowing you made it back to your house safely." I smiled a bit more, merely for how ironic that was.

"I really don't want to be a burden. Just point me in the direction I should be heading and I'll be on my way." He clearly didn't feel comfortable so I caved. "If you're sure, a ride back would be nice." He smiled and grabbed his keys, yelling back to the family he'd be right back. We walked to his car that was parked outside the garage and climbed in. I rattled off the address to the house I was residing in.

"Bella, how are you liking Forks? Rumours from around town was you guys moved from quite a bit aways."

"Yes, I suppose we did. My family and I are from Italy. My dad bought this property and I fell in love with the house. My dad still does a lot of work back home, but agreed we could move here for my final year of high school." Since I didn't live far from them, we were already pulling into my driveway. " Thank you so much Mr. Cullen."

"Anytime. And Bella, call me Carlisle." I smiled and nodded my head before closing my door. I walked through the front door, waving my final goodbye as he pulled out of the driveway. I closed and locked the door before sighing. The house was filled with boxes, not a priority when I had left the house earlier. I really needed to unpack. Lying to the Cullen's was needed until I was certain. Father had been worried about me leaving the Castle for the first time with no protection other than myself. But he warned me everyday before my departure about how dangerous it could be and how diligent I had to be. Using my speed, I started unpacking well into the night only stopping to go on a brief hunt.

I travelled further than I usually would, to avoid running into the Cullen's at any point. It was nearing sunrise when I was heading back home, and my cell phone started to ring. Answering it, there seemed to be a lot of voices coming from the receiver, all talking over one another before a stern voiced hushed them, Uncle Caius.

"Hello Uncle, and I'm assuming the guard as well?" The cheers in response granted me the knowledge that I was right. "An honour it is to receive a phone call this early. What could you possibly need?"

"Have you met them yet?" I rolled my eyes, always to the point.

"Yes, I talked to Carlisle. You were all right, he very nice and welcoming. I'm sure he will continue being so when he finds out the truth about me. And I should meet almost all the others at school later today."

"Please be safe and call me if you need anything. Anything at all." I pulled the phone away from my ear and stared at it, confused and worried.

"Is everything okay? Is Father and Marcus alright? Was there an attack?"

"No, no, why would you think that?"

"You sound like you're going soft on me old man. Call if you need anything, you sound like Marcus."

"Oh, hush or I'll tell him you said that." We bid each other goodbye shortly after that, so I could run home and get ready. A quick shower later, I was dressed and ready to head to my first day of real school. The drive went by quick, and I soon found myself parking my car in a sea of older cars. I was early, but it appeared many others also were. The front office wasn't hard to locate although for the first time since arriving in Forks I threw up my physical shield in addition to my mental one. Safety precaution if you will. I could feel the stares the entire time, and I let out the breath I was holding as the office door closed me off to them. A name plate told me the secretary's name was Mrs. Cope and I politely greeted her.

"Good morning, I'm Isabella Swan. I'm here to grab my schedule and locker assignment." Mrs. Cope smiled and grabbed the paper I was asking for.

"Good luck today dear. Get your teachers to sign this slip of paper, and return it at the end of day today." I smiled back and left the office, following the flow of students into the main building. I found my first class quickly, and chose a seat in the back, allowing me to observe students entering. A deafening bell chimed and a bunch of students filed in before the teacher walked in as well. The students quickly found their spots, not without stares and quick glances in my direction. Slipping in right behind the teacher was a small pixie like girl, Alice. I quickly looked away, readying my notebook in front of me and grabbing a pen from my backpack. Her eyes were on me from the moment she sat down, looking at me as if I was a puzzle she just couldn't figure out. I could feel irritation radiating from her as time passed, quickly glancing into her head as she forced visions to appear around me. In all of them I continued to be a shadow, and the images in her head flashed by in milliseconds. I managed to write down all the notes before the bell and class ended. After class I quickly got the teacher to sign my slip before continuing about my day. My next two classes had no Cullen's in them and next was lunch.

All eyes were on me as I entered the cafeteria, conversations ending as the vast majority of the student body eyed me up and down. It oddly felt more nerve whacking than going toe to toe with the entire guard back home. I held my chin high as I went through the cafe line, grabbing an apple and a water before choosing to go eat in my car. Once enclosed behind the tinted windows, I let out a staggered breath. I slowly munched on the apple while scrolling through the texts on my phone, opening Alec's conversation.

Alec: Bells, I miss you. I'm sorry for what I said the day before you left. I was just mad. I understand this trip is for you. I can't wait to see you when you come home. Which I hope is sooner than later. I didn't realize how much I missed the sound of your voice till Caius called you this morning

Bella: You hurt me Alec. You were my rock growing up and you made me feel like I was about to make the biggest mistake of my life leaving you behind. We weren't a couple, and you knew that. Just give me some time. I'll see you when I come home.

I threw my phone to my passenger seat, buzzing with another message from Alec. That boy needed to chill. I finished my apple, and drank some water suddenly feeling eyes on me. Slowly looking up from the water, the Cullen's all stood in front of my car. I put the cap on the bottle, placing it in the cup holder before slowly getting out of my car,,,my eyes never leaving their forms.

"May I help you?"

"Who are you and what are you doing here?" A woman with blonde hair, Rosalie, spat out. Clearly not impressed. Edward seemed to have a look of concentration on his face, no doubt attempting to read my mind. Jasper had a similar face however his was more intrigued, the lack of emotion pouring from me a cause of wonder not yet concern to him.

"My name is Bella, I'm new here. You're the Cullens right? You have quite the fan base in there." I nodded towards the cafeteria, where there seemed to be students watching our interaction. Alice murmured quietly under her breath to them all that they had an audience. Having had enough I started getting back into my car. "It was truly a pleasure being a subject of interest to you, something I heard is quiet elusive from the rest of the students. Let's try to do it again sometime." I snarked sarcastically, rolling my eyes as I got back in my car. A quick glance showed that the frustration i was feeling was affecting my least favourite quirk about me, and I made the last minute decision to leave school for the day. I started my car and easily backed out of the stall, peeling away without ever looking at the group again.
