2. Chapter 1 Real Chapter

I honestly do not know when there was a time when this cell was not my only resting place, the room is bleak, there is nothing on the floor but a stone floor cold to the touch, and a bucket in a corner, there was nothing I could sleep on or anything to help warm me, the door was a large metallic door.

Due in large part to dreams and to them making me watch these horrible-looking videos in a room that smelled so horrible I had to fight the urge to throw up, if I did throw up they would push a button and I would feel pain, I learned that the color of the door was black and the walls and floor were white.

A white and black room devoid of any warmth and felt like I would never leave this place while alive, now you are probably wondering what my name is? Well, there is something written on the grate flat that opens when food is thrown inside the room, something written that you really had to focus on to be able to read, it was a word and numbers.

The writing was Subject 75767, that is all that was written on the flap that opened, no other opening exists on this cold black metal door. I honestly don't know what they have been trying to get me to do, first, they tried to make me lift something so big it made me scream in pain, and then they told me to evade someone hitting me with a whip.

They tried to get me to turn on a light without getting up from my seat, or remember a series of numbers that is so long that it began to loop and seem like the numbers never end. I got a hit on my hand or shoulder each time I did not succeed. I was always alone when told to do something and I didn't know why, why were they doing this to me?

Was Subject 75767 my name? Who has a name like this? I could not understand. As time went on it made less and less sense, and at one point I figured they would give up on me, finally do what I had been praying they do, to put an end to my misery, death would be a gift rather than continue the way I live.

That is when still dressed in rags, the same rags that I always wear, someone came towards the door, I heard a loud thud sound and that is when the door opened and found a girl much younger than me rush in and hug me, she was followed by another person a girl my age.

"So you came to finally end my misery, to kill me. I waited for this for so long. At long last, it ends." She began to shake her head and she looked at me at my face and with something wet cleaned my face. "No Ichika you are not going to die, we are getting out of this place, you are right they will not hurt you anymore, the life in this hell ends today, but we shall live, if die would only make them happy."

I looked at the girl that looked like she was my age and she was dressed in rags too, she took hold of my hand, "No need to cry anymore Ichika, I am Madoka, your sister, your missing half. Now come on let's go this place smells, and we all got to get out of here if we want to live our lives as we want."

As we walked out of the room as far as the eye could see were doors like mine, all with writing like mine, on black letters above each door. That is when I saw a man dressed in black wearing a mask on his face and when he saw us he picked up something that was on his shoulder.

"Subjects 75767, 75768, and 75770 are escaping, Chifuyu is helping them escape, sound the alarm send back-up, I repeat test subjects are escaping!" I honestly don't know why but something in his words made me really angry, something that I don't know why but my mouth shut hard and my fingers felt something sticky as I opened my hands which had closed shut for a second.

"Ichika, relax, there is nothing wrong, I am Chifuyu, and I am your big sister, trust me nothing is the matter we shall make it out of this place. So please Ichika just holds unto Madoka, Ace, and follow me."

As we began to walk following her someone tried to use something that I knew would shoot wires into a person and hurt, Ace was holding my hand when she stared at this person and what he was holding and it exploded and he was shocked instead of our big sister.

"Just relax Ichika, think of this as if you were playing one of those boring games, and they are nothing more than dolls. People would not hurt us, they are things, and things are replaceable. So don't hold to your pain, your anger, let them go, give it back to those that made you feel it."

As I did as she told me I opened my eyes, the world didn't have much color, but even less when I opened my eyes, I saw one of the men taking a large metal club it looked like a big stick made of metal.

I ran towards this person I know he wants to hurt Chifuyu, I know where he wants to hit her, and I know it would hurt her, I don't want her to be hurt, I don't want either Ace or Madoka hurt. I ran towards this person and without thinking about it I jumped up and kicked him hard enough to make him bend over and drop the metal club.

Without even thinking about it I picked it up and hit him hard on the side of his head. "So it seems you, Ace, and Madoka aren't so helpless after all, good, we have a long way to go but with you three helping me I think we can make it out of here, we will leave this place and we will live a good and happy life, that I promise you three. So smile, please just smile for me."

And that is how we escaped that place I never want to see again, I knocked out a lot of people and Ace somehow could cause the people coming after us to fall on the ground by just looking at them or Madoka could cause the door to smoke and open. When a person tried to hit me, all colors stopped, and without even trying I would know things.

I would know where the person was going to hit, with what, and how to use that against him, knocking him out like so many others. Once they were knocked out or on the ground, the color returned as I noticed the few red stains and the different colors of their faces.

As we finally left Madoka made something happen to a large metal-looking thing, I think the thing is called an automobile. We got in and we sat on the seats behind the one Chifuyu would eventually enter she used some straps to lock us in, somehow I knew that she didn't mean us any harm.

We took off at high speed and once enough times had gone by she let out a sigh, "Looks like they are not following us, you three can relax, as I told you I am your big sister, my name is Chifuyu and you three are my siblings, Ichika, Ace and Madoka, the place we left is a place you never have to worry of seeing again."

"We shall live the way we decided, no one tells an Orimura how to live our lives, that is the name of our family, we are the Orimura Family, and from this moment till the end of our lives, we are family we have. Thank you for your help Madoka with the locks and Ace with the people who were trying to shock me, and those were some nice hits with that baton Ichika."

I don't know why I felt like laughing when she said that, Madoka began to laugh as little before holding my hand, "It was nothing, we are family, a family helps each other don't we?" This made Chifuyu laugh as I began to look out of the window, the speed was making what I saw blurry but it was prettier than what I always saw inside the white cold room and the black door.

This was the beginning of my new life, and these three made me feel like there was nothing more precious in the world than the three girls that were in that car with me. That is when I made a silent vow, that I would do my best not to drag them down, and always help them.

Somehow everything became quiet and I could not keep my eyes open anymore, as my eyes closed I began to have a terrible idea, what if all this was nothing more than a dream? Would I wake up in the cold white room when I open my eyes?

As the sound of birds singing was heard I opened my eyes, and I found myself on a soft bed, and my big sister was holding me tightly against her body, Madoka and Ace were asleep on their backs. I opened my eyes and saw that Chifuyu was still asleep, and I could not help but smile as I saw her smiling face.

I closed my eyes trying not to wake her, Ace, or Madoka, and waited for them to wake up after I don't know how long I heard them all yawn. "Alright guys, while you were asleep I bought your some clothes in a thrift shop, don't worry we are not back in that miserable place, this house belongs to us, and this is home."

"Come on, get up, it is time we throw away those rags and for you three to get dressed in your new clothes, Madoka you will help me prepare breakfast, and Ichika, you need to help us by carrying the plates, forks, knives and glasses to the table. I know this is much but can I count on you two to help me?"

I smiled at her and told her it was what family does, so of course, we will help. We each did as our big sister told us and sure enough, we were eating something we saw once on the video, scrambled eggs, cheese, and toast, with a glass of juice, sweet.

I finished my glass and I waited for them to finish eating before I jumped off the seat and tried to take the dishes and things to the large machine that I once heard cleaned dishes, I scrapped anything off the plate and loaded everything on the machine.

Placed a strange liquid in a little cup on the machine and turned it on, I don't even know what I am doing just doing what I feel like is the right thing to do. "Thank you for breakfast, but what am I supposed to do now?"

Chifiyu smiled and I could see her face was a little redder on the cheeks of her face, "Now we begin to learn how to defend ourselves, this is a dangerous world we need to make sure you can stop others from hurting you again or anyone of us."

I don't know why this feels so familiar but if my big sister Chifuyu said was something we needed to do I had no reason to doubt her, she began to take us to a place full of weights and a couple of bikes, sort of reminds me of the ones in the place we were before, but Chifuyu didn't hit us or told us to do it harder or faster.

Without someone hitting me, Ace or Madoka, this felt completely different, and for once I had no problem with trying to do things a little better, try to carry the weight a little more, I don't care if it makes my arm hurt, what I don't want is to disappoint my big sister. I don't know why but I want her to be proud of me, for her. Ace and Madoka to be proud of me.

After we finished our time in the gym and we got back to our home, I turned on the television to try and find something interesting, that is the first time I even heard about two knew things, a machine that could be used in a competitor sport called the Infinite Stratos, and people with amazing abilities that seemed magical and could even manifest weapons from their very souls and these people were called Blazers.

Chifuyu told us that we were all going to school, "This next Monday which is in two days you three will be going to a place that we call a school." Three of us not knowing what school is, we decided to agree to see what the hell that place is. "Just remember that these people don't have the abilities that you three have, so no using your powers on your teachers, staff, and classmates. Yes, Ace, you will be going but since you are a year younger you will not be going to the same grade as Ichika and Madoka."

As they went to school the next day, Ace was complaining that she should be allowed in the same grade as her siblings, Madoka told her that they didn't decide the age for each grade, instead of complaining she should be happy that the stuff she needs to learn is easy, so instead they should try to do their best and try not to cause many problems, that would draw unwanted attention.

Ichika thanks to the training by his big sister was actually looking forward to being a member of the Kendo Club, Madoka was also going to join the club but she was not happy that she couldn't use actual weapons. Their teacher was a kind-hearted young woman, who was dressed as a nun who was a blazer with a water affinity, her name was Sister Lily, Ace's teacher was a very athletic woman named Diana Prince.

The school was apparently a secret facility to educate young blazers to use their powers, which is why the school teachers were all experienced blazers, they didn't forget the standard education, but always had time for the kids to get in touch with their powers under adult supervision to make sure they didn't injure, maim, or possibly even disable their fellow students. That was their first day in that school but also it was the day Ichika would meet a girl while being in the Kendo Club who would be his friend and rival in Kendo.

Not being able to use his powers to the full extent made things extremely difficult for Ichika, but that was not going to deter him, the more difficult something was, the greater the feeling of joy he would get when he eventually succeeded. So he took the tests, quizzes, and other things he had to do in that school as a personal challenge to see how good he could do.

After nine years, the three siblings made many friends, and many rivals and had many wonderful adventures, as they finished most of their elementary education all the way to what some would consider high school. Ichika was considered by many a Kendo prodigy, only his long-time friend and rival Houki was able to equal him in the ways of the sword. Tragically his friend had to leave the school and go into government protection due to the many advances her sister had done on her most acknowledged successful invention, the Infinite Stratos.

As Ichika was finally getting ready to go to the school, Madoka was waiting for him as Ace helped her get everything they had packed into their sister's car, they were going to attend a new school, a school that was built on a man-made island, a school where people who either wanted to master their blazer powers, become IS Pilots or both would come to learn what they need to know.

The first day at the school was never an easy one since they didn't know practically any of their classmates, this was often a reason for frustration for the two of them, since people who once had been their friends, most couldn't or wouldn't attend this school since the entrance exam to enter it was in a word brutal. The only means for the students to go and leave the school was using a long tram line that went from the island to the mainland.

When they finally arrive they were told that the principal and vice-principal wanted to meet them. It turns out only Principal Kurono Shinguuji was present since Vice-Principal Juuzou Kutsuwagi was always focused on matters outside of the Academy so she rarely met with people in the Academy. The Principal was a woman of very clear morals and ambitions, she wanted to bring up the level of education higher than ever before, and to do that she needed to push past established methods and old ideas.

As the twins waited for the secretary to announce that they were there, they talked about their first impressions of the actual buildings they managed to see on their way to the administrative building, it was if anything, rather impressive. Ichika loved the training arena areas and the open gym for the students and faculty, and Madoka loved the garden and the way the entire school felt like it was a living breathing thing.

As they were finally told they could step inside, the principal was seated on the chair right behind her massive wooden desk, "So you two must be Ichika and Madoka Orimura, I gather that your sister Ace will come to attend next year, Chifuyu told me quite a few amazing things about the two of you. To be honest, I was wondering if it was true or if it was Chifuyu being extremely proud of her siblings, but as I checked your academic records, I found out she was actually just being honest."

"So please excuse me for keeping you waiting, but there was quite a bit of red tape to get through to be able to access your academic records. As you might already know the reason for this institution was initially as a place to train and properly educate young and inexperienced Blazers in the use of their powers, however when the IS was invented, it changed everything because of the mere fact that a male blazer could do something that was considered previously impossible, this male blazer can indeed pilot an Infinite Stratos Unit."

"It is not mere conjecture, the fact that it has been proven to be the case this has allowed male blazers who otherwise would never pilot one of these units to be able to do it. As you would know Ichika, and of course Madoka, since you both have magic powers as a blazer which actually merged with your Infinite Stratos units as I have been told. So the school had to adapt and merge the curriculum of two academy programs into one, not an easy task if the absence of the vice-principal should show anyone who wonders about it."

Ichika looked at her and began to nod his head, "You don't have to worry about me or my sister Ma'am, we will do our very best to excel in this academy, we take our education very seriously and we always strive to make our big sister feel proud of us. So you just need to tell us what we need to do, learn, and achieve and we will do so in a moral and ethical manner, but be warned, we do not take kindly to bullies, and we are not defenseless, if the other students come searching for a fight, they will find it."

The Principal laughed and told them as long as the injuries were things they would recover from and they were not lethal she had no problem with students defending themselves, "This school follows a code of chivalry, and as such knights must be able to defend himself and others, so try to control the harm you cause to your enemy and do not kill them, and you will have little to no problem with that from me. In fact, this school is going to enter a tournament soon and that tournament will determine which school is the best of the current seven schools that have come to be established around the world."

"We call it the seven-star festival, and as such seven academies participate, and if a student manages to win one of the top five positions in that tournament I would go as far as to guarantee these people will graduate, but the winner of the tournament will graduate but unlike the others, he will get to ask for a single request from me, and if I can grant what this person desires, I shall. So you want to make your big sister proud, how about trying to win that tournament?"

The principal explained how the classes would go and what she and the teachers expected of them, to the twins it seemed like your normal school orientation, as far as they knew the only thing that surprised them is that the academy principal was doing this, and not their first-year teacher. There must be a reason for this that either the principal couldn't or wouldn't want to explain or mention. They didn't feel like being rude so they didn't press on the matter. If it was really important they would find out about it later.

As they were finally excused and went to the classroom that they were told was their classroom they received the first shock, the entire classroom except for Ichika was all women, and the second major shock was that Ichika's first childhood friend Houki Shinonono had been placed in the very same classroom as Ichika, he would never admit it but he actually used to miss his old Kendo rival quite a bit.

The teacher was a young woman with green hair, wearing rim glasses, and had a quite well-developed figure, by any other standard the teacher was quite the beauty, but as she introduced herself they found out that she was actually the assistant teacher, the actual teacher was busy in a staff meeting in the administrative department of the academy. "As I said my name is Maya Yamada, I am the assistant teacher, and it is my goal to teach you all to be able to do your very best, my hope and dream are that one day you will look back to your days in this classroom fondly."

"As I have introduced myself, you and the rest of your classmates shall use my introduction as an example, let's begin with the class roster shall we?" Ichika was still focused on the technical manual he was reading about the Infinite Stratos, it was a book that was put on his curriculum as suggested reading having finished reading his class materials, much to his surprise these books were books that he actually read for fun.

As soon as he heard this bell sound come from his classroom desk he looked up and saw the teacher leaning close to look at him, "Excuse me Mr. Orimura, but I do believe it is time for you to do your introduction, sorry to take you away from what appears to be a book you found extremely interesting."

Ichika smiled as he stood up, "Sorry that I was focused on the book so much I didn't notice, you have no reason to apologize to me, but I do have one to apologize to you, very well my name is Ichika Orimura, I have three sisters, Madoka, Ace and my big sister Chifuyu, my goal is to be the very best I can be, my dream is to one day be able to live a peaceful life with my family and the people I love."

The teacher smiled and said that was a wonderful dream and was about ready to tell Madoka when unexpectedly Chifuyu entered the classroom it was such a major shock to both Ichika and Madoka that they were speechless for seconds, "So you finally made it back from the meeting, I hope that it wasn't too much trouble."

Hearing that this was the teacher that was in the staff meeting that Maya had mentioned made Ichika react in an expected way, "Wait? You mean the teacher of this class is my sister?" That is when Chifuyu marched to where he was and slammed his head on the surface of his desk, "You will address me as Ms. Orimura in class, got it? I trust the instructions of how to properly address your teacher has been driven into that hard head of yours."

She then turned around to the other students and told them to continue their introductions, and as soon as the last person was done, she walked to the podium that was there for the teacher who did the lecture to the class, "My name is Chifuyu Orimura, I shall be your instructor for this year, that means I shall teach you to pilot your IS, use your magic and be able to stand on your two feet by the end of this year, this includes theory, practical and technical knowledge, I shall expect you to do your best, got it? Even if you don't you will understand soon enough."
