Juice casually listened as Chibs and Jax were talking about the Irish giving their answer about the deal with Marks. He really hoped it would happen, as it would give both Jax and Juice an easy way out of this life they'd both grown to hate.
He glanced over at his fiancée, who was rubbing her belly and laughing with Happy. Juice knew the baby was due anytime, and while he should be excited, he couldn't help but feel fear instead. What kind of world was his daughter coming into?
Tig cleared his throat as he gestured to the camera screens.
"Jax, the sheriffs are here," he said. Juice glanced toward the screen and swore. Corcoran and Roosevelt certainly were at the clubhouse, walking up to Gemma and Nero.
Unser groaned as he got up.
"I'll go see what's up," he said, putting down a green ink pen as he left. Jax decided to call the club to the table, but then stopped suddenly, looking at the pen.
"Where did this come from?" Jax asked, and Juice noticed the shamrocks on the pen.
Chuckie shrugged.
"Must have come from the guys who delivered the beer," he said.
"Chuck, who brought the beer in?" Jax asked. Chuckie shrugged again.
Time seemed to freeze for a moment before realization dawned on them all.
"EVERYONE OUT!" Chibs yelled.
Juice ran toward Ana, and quickly followed the crowd out the door. They heard Tara scream that Abel was still in the back, and Juice had to physically stop Ana from turning around.
"Jax has him, go!" he yelled, trying to get her as safely away from the building as possible.
Ana looked behind Juice fearfully as they waited in the parking lot for Jax, Abel, and Chibs to come out. Juice was holding her with one arm and trying to help Happy hold Tara and Gemma back with the other. Finally, they saw Jax and Chibs running out, Abel in Jax's arms. Seconds later, an explosion erupted before their eyes, and Juice shielded Ana's body with his own from the debris and the heatwave that rained down around them.
After the initial dust settled, Juice helped Ana to her feet, and checked around to make sure everyone was still whole.
"Is everyone alright?" he asked Jax.
Jax nodded.
"Yeah, it looks like it," he said. He gestured toward Ana. "How about her?"
Ana nodded, breathing heavily.
"Yeah I'm-" she stopped, looking down suddenly. She looked back up toward Juice and laughed nervously.
"I think my water just broke."
Eight hours later, after a bunch of tears, and nearly a broken finger or two, Juice came out to the waiting room where Jax, Gemma, Happy, Tara, and Chibs were waiting anxiously for news. He smiled at them and threw his hands in the air.
"Seven pounds, three ounces, and perfectly healthy," he said proudly as his family erupted into cheers. Chibs hugged him tightly, and he could feel the Scot's tears on his cheek.
""I'm so proud of you, boy," he said softly.
Jax clapped him on the back and pulled him into a hug as soon as Chibs let him go.
""You're going to be a great dad," he said. "Don't even stress it. It's the best."
Juice nodded, and wiped his eyes.
"Let's go see my daughter," he said.
Gianna Elizabeth-Rose Ortiz. Juice looked at his daughter in her tiny crib through the nursery glass, her name displayed for all to see. She had black hair, and her mother's beautiful eyes. She was beautiful in every sense of the word, and Juice had never been more proud in his life. Hearing her cry as she came into the world was the best sound he'd ever heard. He remembered kissing Ana's sweaty forehead, whispering how much he loved her in her ear. Crying with her as they saw their daughter for the first time. It was as if the bomb had never happened
Gemma stood next to him and took his hand.
"How's Ana?" she asked him as the rest were still cooing over Gia.
"He smiled at Gemma, and squeezed her hand.
"She's fine. Asleep right now. I think eight hours of labor would be hell on anyone, even without a bomb blast," he said. Gemma chuckled lightly.
"Yeah I guess that's true," she said. She nudged him playfully. "Let's go see her."
Ana opened her eyes to see Juice, Gemma, and Happy walk in her room, and she smiled when Juice's eyes met hers.
"Hey, babygirl," he said, leaning over and kissing her softly.
"Hey," she whispered, smiling at him. "How's our daughter?"
Juice chuckled at the pride that rang out in her voice when she said that.
"Sleeping peacefully," he said. "You did so good."
Happy nodded, a rare smile on his face.
"Yeah, you did," he said. "I'm one proud uncle. I'm proud of you, girl."
"Thanks, Hap," Ana said, reaching for Gemma's hand. "How's everything else?" she asked.
They all gave Ana a brief rundown. The garage and the club were destroyed, and Nero was in jail on a bullshit murder charge. Jax and Chibs had sworn vengeance on the Irish for the bombing, and were currently on the way, with the rest of the club, to Chester, to explain what was going on to the rest of the charters.
"He told your Old Man to stay here. Happy volunteered to stand guard for you guys while the club is gone," Gemma said.
Ana nodded, then smiled as the nurse wheeled in the crib that held her daughter.
"I think someone's ready for Mama," the nurse crooned, handing the baby to Ana.
Ana stared at her daughter's face, in awed disbelief.
How could she love someone so much that she just met? How could she have created something so perfect, and, not only that, get to share it with such an amazing man?
"Jax said he doesn't want us to worry about the club right now," Juice said, not taking his eyes off their daughter. "That we just need to get settled as a family."
"And he's absolutely right," Gemma said. "I'll make sure everything's ready for you guys."
Ana smiled, touching the baby's nose. She didn't care about anything going on at the moment. All she cared about was the people in that hospital room. Their daughter had finally arrived, and everything, for a moment, was perfect.
