A/N: So I originally thought that this story wouldn't be all that long. But I have apparently lied about that to all of you, and myself. I don't know how many more chapters I will do, so we will just take it one chapter at a time. Reviews are candy. Sadly I still do not own Flashpoint or its characters... If I did, the show would still be on.

"…she has lost a lot of blood, but the bullet did not hit any vital structures. She is in pre-tern labor…"

The words kept ringing in his head. Sam was not feeling all that well now. He was being hit with a major adrenaline crash and now this. Jules needed surgery, their baby was coming early, and why was he at SIU again?

The last thing Sam heard before blacking out was Frank McAndrew's calls for EMS.

Spike and Greg were led back to Jules' room in the ER by the nurse who came out to update them on Jules. "I will be right back, I'm going to go and grab those consent forms. You may go in and see her now though."

Spike pushed open the door and allowed Greg to walk in first, he was closely behind but stood at the foot of the bed while Greg pulled over the chair and sat down next to her. "Hey Jules, how are you holding up?"

Unable to turn her head due to the cervical collar she was wearing, she blindly reached for Greg's hand to hold. "Sarge? Where is Sam?"

Greg went to answer but was cut short as Jules had a contraction and squeezed Greg's hand. Once her grip eased up slightly, Greg gave her the latest update. "Sam had to take a sierra shot today. He is with SIU, we are trying to get him here as soon as we can. Jules, they gotta get you into surgery."

"No, not until-" Jules was cut off by the next contraction. "I'm not going until Sam gets here. He needs to be here when our daughter is born."

"Oh Jules, I don't know if that will be possible. They need to get you into surgery to make sure both you and the baby are ok." Greg rubbed her arm as he spoke with her, trying to keep her calm.

This only proceeded to irritate Jules further. "I'm NOT going until Sam gets here." She was adamant about it, but both Spike and Greg knew that it probably wouldn't be possible to wait.

Spike reached out and touched Jules on the leg and gave it a light squeeze. "Ed is doing what he can to get Sam out of SIU and over here to be with you, but we just don't know how long it will take."

"Spike and I, we aren't going anywhere Jules. We will be right here until they force us out or Sam gets here."

The next contraction hit, Jules gripped Greg's hand with bruising force. She cried out in pain, yelling out that she wanted Sam. When the contraction ended, Jules was gasping for breath.

"Sniper breathing Jules, sniper breathing." Greg tried to breathe with her but when alarms started going off, his head snapped to look at the monitors. "Oh shit."

Spike ran into the hall looking for a nurse. Something had happened and now Jules oxygen saturation was falling and she was having difficulty breathing.

Sam woke up on the floor in an SIU interview room. Frank was kneeling next to him. "Frank? What happened?" As Frank helped Sam sit up, he explained what had happened. Sam ran his fingers through his hair and looked down in embarrassment.

Inspector Sainton walked in the door with a bottle of Gatorade and a pack of crackers. He handed it to Frank and let him know that EMS should be arriving soon.

Sam slowly made his way to his feet, stumbling slightly. "I don't need EMS. I just need to get to my wife."

" Inspector Stainton shook his head as he answered. "Sorry Constable, It is our policy that you need to be checked by EMS. They should be here soon. Just sit tight, munch on the crackers and have some of the Gatorade."

Sam let out of a growl of frustration. "All do respect Inspector, I need to be with my wife right now. I'm not going to miss the birth of my child because of some policy. I'm fine, I just need to go now."

At that moment, the door opened and the paramedics walked in, one of them being Steve Morgan. Sam turned slightly red in embarrassment, he passed out cold after taking two lethal shots and an intense SIU interview, now he was probably going to miss the birth of his daughter which was unforgivable. "Steve."

"Hey Sam, lets get your vitals checked really quick, then we can get you out of here so you can get to Jules."

Thankful for the kindness Steve showed him, despite the fact that both men knew Steve was still in love with Jules. Steve gave Sam a small smile and set to work in checking his vitals.

True to his word, Steve made quick work of checking Sam's vitals. "Okay Sam, good to go. Looks like your blood sugar was a little low, probably due to the adrenaline crash. You're clear to go. I'll check in later to see how Jules and the baby are doing."

"Can I go now?" Sam asked the question despite not waiting for an answer and walking out of the interview room leaving the four men left in the room looking at his retreating form.

Multiple people rushed into Jules' room, moving Greg out of the way to stabilize Jules. The doctor looked over to Greg, his expression serious. "I believe the bullet has punctured a lung. Where the bullet was sitting in her chest, it may have been resting against her lung it may have moved. We need to get her into the O.R. and quickly."

This statement only agitated Jules, through gasping breaths she cried out "Sam… not here… Boss.. need you."

Greg turned his attention back on Jules. "I'm not going anywhere Jules. I'm right here."

The doctor nodded his head as he gave his next orders. "Okay, you can come in for the cesarian but will need to leave once the baby is born. Nurse, lets get him dressed, lets also go ahead and prep for intubation as well as a chest tube for the patient." The doctor then headed out to go get scrubbed for surgery.

"Spike, call Ed, call commander Holleran, we need Sam to be aw—" Greg was cut off as commotion was heard in the lobby. "Spike, go see whats up. That sounds like Sam."

Spike turned and jogged out as Jules was being wheeled out of the room and up to the O.R. Greg snagged one of the nurses. "I think that is her husband who just arrived, if it is, he will be taking my place." The nurse nodded, and just then, Greg saw a flash of blonde hair and hear the distraught man's emotional voice. "Jules! Hey sweetheart, I'm here. I'm here."

Spike walked up to Greg and slung his arm over his shoulders. "Talk about perfect timing. Lets head out to the waiting room and wait for the rest of the crew." And with that, the two men turned away from the retreating form of Sam and the team of nurses wheeling Jules to her surgery.

As they walked, one of the nurses began to tell Sam the changes in Jules' condition. "Mr. Braddock, your wife was shot in the base of her neck. The bullet was visualized in her chest with no issues upon initial presentation. We believe that one of her lungs has now collapsed. We believe one of the contractions caused the bullet to move."

"What does that mean? Is she going to be okay?" Worry filled Sam's voice, and his eyes prickled with tears.

"We are going to do everything we can for your wife. It does mean that we need to go in and remove the bullet and repair any damage. Your wife will need a chest tube to help re-inflate her lung. We do need to do an emergency cesarian first. You may stay for the birth, but after that we will need you to leave."

"She is only seven months along. It's too early to deliver! Is the baby-" Sam was shocked. How could this be happening? How was one of the happiest days of their lives turning into a nightmare?

The nurse laid a hand on Sam's shoulder. "Mr. Braddock, I know it is a little early for your baby to be born. But we have a top notch Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, and babies at this stage of gestation have a very high survival rate. I need you to put this suit on as well as the shoe covers and hairnet, then we are going to deliver your baby. It will happen fast and then your wife will be anesthetized for her surgery."

As the team finished packing up their gear and turning the scene over to investigators, the silence was overwhelming. Commander Holleran was still looming around, having given a brief statement to the press. Officers from the Guns & Gangs unit had arrived on scene, one of them being Wordy.

Walking up to Ed, Wordy didn't know what he could say to offer some modicum of comfort to his best friend of over 20 years. "Eddie, how are you holding up?"

"Honestly, I don't even know. It hasn't quite sunk in yet. He was a damn good cop." Ed swiped at his eyes brushing away the tears. "Did you hear about Jules?"

Confusion evident in his eyes, Wordy responded. With a worry filled voice. "No, I haven't. Is she okay?"

Sighing, Ed began to explain what had happened. "…Spike and Greg are with her now. Hopefully Sam is done with SIU soon so he can be there. But from what Rolie told me, she is going to be okay. She was apparently very lucky she wasn't executed."

Wordy was shocked at this update. "Man, I hope she is okay. She and Sam have worked hard to prove they can work together and be in a relationship. Plus, I know they are both excited for the baby."

Ed was about to respond when Commander Holleran came over to the two men. "Constable Wordsworth, always good to see you." Then turning to Ed, he continued. "Sergeant Lane. I have turned the scene over to the investigators as well as G . Team One is now off duty. Debrief will be tomorrow. Tell your team to go home, try to relax. We've got people if they need to talk to someone."

Ed shook Holleran's hand. "Thank you Commander." And with that, he turned and strode over to the rest of his team to tell them shift was over.

After a friendly exchange of good-bye's, Wordy headed back over to his squad to continue their investigation. He just hoped that he would be able to gain some intel to help provide closure for Team One.

Ed walked back over as Holleran was getting into his SUV. "Commander, has anyone told Lukas' mother? We sent Uni's over to make sure they were unharmed, but nobody had any information for her at that time."

With a heavy sigh, Holleran spoke. "I was actually on my way to tell her. You can meet me there if you would like, he was a member of your team."

Ed nodded, his face expressionless. "I will meet you there." And with that, Ed turned and walked to his SUV.

Sam finished dressing, and hurried into the operating room. He sat next to Jules' head, the drape blocking his view of what was happening. "Hey sweetheart, I'm right here. You are doing so good."

Jules was very short of breath due to the collapsed lung, but her eyes met Sam's and communicated everything she needed to say. 'I love you. I am going to fight, but take care of our girl until I can be there for her.'

Suddenly a small and weak cry broke out, the doctor announcing the baby was a girl. She was quickly wrapped in a blanket and the nurse let Sam and Jules have a quick look at their daughter.

"Why are her lips blue? What is happening?" As Sam was asking the nurses about his daughter, Jules' monitors started beeping like crazy.

"She is not getting enough oxygen, we are going to have to crack her chest."

"Lets get her intubated and decompressed so we can ventilate!"

As the doctors were giving out orders, another nurse quickly ushered Sam out of the O.R. and gave a hasty apology as she shut the door. Sam sank to the floor, head in his hands, he let the tears flow.

The door to the O.R. suddenly flung back open, a team of nurses speaking about the baby. "Move quickly, lets get her to the NICU. "

"I'm having trouble trying to ventilate her."

"I've lost a pulse, start CPR!"
