Chapter 27

Kagutsuchi- upper level

Exhausted from all the fighting and running around, Ruby set down on the ground to catch her breath.

"Ruby!"

Ruby looked up and saw Jaune running towards her.

"Jaune, you're alright! Have you seen my-"

"Ruby!" Jaune interrupted her, short of breath. "Pyrrha… is Pyrrha… Pyrrha is…"

"Jaune? Calm down. Take a deep breath."

"Ruby." Jaune calmed down a little. "Pyrrha is going to get herself killed!"

Alleyway- Platinum vs. Emerald

'Missiles! That fucking staff can fire missiles!'

Emerald was running for her life. Huge cartoon missiles were flying everywhere! At first she thought it was some kind of illusion, but she quickly decided that even if it were just an illusion, the explosion felt too real for her to risk it.

'Not worth the trouble! This is some magic shit!'

"Why are you running? Why are you running?" Taunted Platinum. "Beg for mercy! Who knows, maybe if you embarrassed yourself enough, Luna might let you off with just a half kill!"

"You sounded like a villain, Luna."

"Shut up, who asked you, Sena?"

'Now's my chance.'

"What the heck…"

In front, no, all around Platinum, are hundreds of Emeralds, aiming their guns at her! In response, Platinum created shields around her.

"What are you doing, Luna?"

"Are you blind, Sena?"

While Platinum argued with herself, Emerald escaped. Frustrated at how she underestimated her target, just because they were children.

'I underestimated the power of a Nox. Dammit, now I have to think about how to explain this to Cinder.'

NOL Military Hospital- Naoto Versus Mercury

Naoto blocked another of Mercury's roundhouse kicks, and at the same time, grabbed the leg, and pulled, trying to unbalance Mercury, but Mercury jumped, and aimed his other foot at Naoto's head, realizing what was coming, Naoto, let go of Mercury's leg, and ducked under the foot.

"Stop!" Naoto held out his hand. "Look, I get it, you are a petty little bastard, but come on! There are Grimms everywhere now! The only reason we are not swarmed by them is because my friend is keeping them at bay!"

Officially, Naoto and Raquel's relationship was that of master and servant, he just didn't like to tell people and then have to explain that.

"Then she can keep them at bay a little longer!"

"Fine then!"

OVERDRIVE! BLOOD REPULSOR!

Forming a blood greatsword in his hand, Naoto, slashed at Mercury repeatedly, forcing him to back down.

"I know your weakness, you can only activate Overdrive for a limited time! Which means, all I have to do, is wait it out!"

Waves and waves of blood from Naoto's sword slashed, but Mercury kept jumping back, and just like Mercury said, Naoto's hair turned back from white to black. Seeing this, Mercury charged back in, Naoto countered with a front kick, but Mercury jumped over his kick, and kicked him right in the face! sending his head backward and his body flying back.

There was no doubt about it, Mercury felt it! Naoto's neck snapped. Years of experience of killing people, the feeling of breaking someone's neck!

"SEE! That's what you get! Fucking cadet!"

However, Mercury still walked over to Naoto's body, just to make sure, and what he saw, shocked him. Naoto, standing up, using both his hands, snapping his head back into position.

"No…" Mercury was in shock. "You're dead! I broke your neck!"

"Well, I don't know what to say, man?" Naoto's hand on his neck. "Maybe it wasn't as broken as you thought?"

With a scream, Mercury ran toward Naoto, driven by rage, fear, and general confusion, attacking him like crazy, which Naoto dodged easily, Naoto then kicked forward, and Mercury reacted the same as before, jumping and doing the jump kick again, aiming for Naoto's face, but this time, Naoto grabbed the outstretched leg, turned, and smashed him into the ground face first with an over shoulder throw!

"Ahhh…"

Mercury tried to get up right away, but his leg had malfunctioned yet again! And a massive axe of blood smashed down on him.

Raquel flew down. "He still lives."

Naoto's bent over, with his hands on his knees. "I'm too tired. Let's just run."

"I'll finish this."

Raquel created what looked like a spinning chakram of wind, only visible because of dust and leaves.

"Wait, I'll do it." Said Naoto, stopping her.

Naoto stood back up and walked over to Mercury. Naoto did not consider himself a pacifist, but even so, he still has hesitations about killing an unconscious enemy. He understands Raquel was trying to spare his conscience, but this was his responsibility.

?: "So sorry, but I still have use of this one."

Naoto immediately jumped back! Just in time to dodge a green chain! and then, another chain, attached itself to Mercury, and pulled back! Disappearing into the shadow.

"What was that?" Asked Naoto.

"A Nox." Answered Requel. "Ouroboros."

"Do you know who that was?"

"No. I only know to whom it used to belong."

"Oh, one of the six, I remember now."

"Yes, the betrayer."

In Front of the Cathedral

Ragna looked up at the top of the cathedral, and saw something that wasn't there the last time he was there.

'What the hell is that? Looks like a monument?'

Ragna then felt a chill, not like a feeling, but a real drop in temperature. He looked down, and saw white, cold air underneath his feet, and immediately drew his sword, and shattered a flying sword of ice.

"Jin."

That was just a warning shot, a challenge. Another flying ice sword, this time Ragna dodged, Jin dashed towards him, and the two swords clashed.

"For the third fucking time today, I really, really do not have the time for this!"

"Then make time."

Ragna raised an eyebrow. 'He's calmer than last time. The last time we met, he was… crazy.'

Ragna pushed Jin away. "Look!" Ragna decided that, for once in his life, he would try talking it out. "I need to… save someone, Noel, an NOL officer, you know her right? Blonde, annoying-" 'like you, but Looks like Saya.'

"Yes, I do know who Noel is."

The way he said that, Ragna had a bad feeling, and it was proven right as Jin sent a blade of ice straight at him at high speed, and Rgana countered with a wave of darkness. The ice blade froze the darkness, but also exploded immediately after! And then, out of the dust, a flash of sword, aiming for his eyes, if not for Ragna immediately tilting his head back, he would have already lost both of his eyes!

"You crazy son of-" Ragna stopped himself, remembered they had the same mother, possibly.

"But I finally understand now."

"Understand what you crazy freak?"

"You, are the centre of all this, the centre of all evil."

"What the hell?"

'I thought he had regained some sanity, but that was too good to be true…'

"Fine, I'll just kick your ass quick."

Elsewhere…

'He ditched me!' Thought Winter.

When the black-haired girl left the frozen building, she asked about Jin, but the girl said he left before she did. Now Winter was left with two choices, find Weiss, or go after Jin. Weiss, according to her teammate, was last seen at the arena, Jin, however, was unknown.

'Weiss, and the citizens will need all the help they can get, but I still have my duty, to hand Major Kisaragi over to the General.' While it does seem heartless, to even think about putting duty before family, but that was what it meant to be a soldier.

'Weiss is fine. She's well-trained, and there are other hunters among the Remnants. They have their duties, and I have mine, a job only I can do.'

Winter took out her Scroll, and opened the map.

'I can't believe he never found the tracker!'

Winter looked back in the direction of the arena one last time, before heading out.

"Weiss, don't die on me."

Outside Kagutsuchi Arena

Neptune killed another Nevermore, and then leaned against his glaive to rest.

"Dude!" Called out Sun. "Don't stop!"

"No." Said Weiss "The Grimm, at least the ones coming from underground, have stopped coming."

Underneath the Mountain

In front of the entrance into the mountain, the one the White Fang blew open, stood a horde of Grimms, stopped in its tracks. Even though the creatures of Grimm were thought to be soulless, their behaviors can only be described as cautious, if not fearful.

"It's that all you have to offer, Creatures of Grimm?" said the source of the Grimm's perplexity.

Before the entrance, stood a white figure, Hakumen, with his greatsword held high.

"Pitiful creatures, I consider this a mercy, to wipe you from existence."

In Front of the Cathedral

Winter followed her tracker, even when Jin was still not in her sight, she could already hear swords crashing, the earth shaking, and the temperature draping.

"What's wrong? Brother, is that all you have? Surely not? You, the Grim Reaper, the all evil!"

That was Jin's voice, and he was fighting someone.

"Shut your trap!"

A voice she did not recognize.

'Brother?' Thought Winter.

A few more steps, and she saw it, Jin, fighting a white-haired man. While the face was different, but, that powerful Aura, that sword, and that red jacket.

"Ragna, The Bloodedge."

Ragna stopped, and turned his head. "Another one? Wait your turn-"

Ragna didn't even finish, and Jin was already flying towards him, riding on his ice sword! Ragna dodged to the side, at the same time slashed at the passing Jin, but Jin reacted, and parried the attack with his scabbard.

"Major, I'll help-"

"Leave, Specialist Schnee."

"Sorry Major, but Ragna the Bloodedge is also a wanted man in Atlas."

"What?" Ragna stopped again. "What did I-"

Again, Jin acted, with his hand on the ground, he froze the ground Ragna stood on, limiting his movement, and skated toward him, Ragna responded by lifting his great sword upward, and slamming down on the frozen ground, shattering the ice, stopping Jin's advance.

"What the hell!" Said Ragna. "I didn't attack you when you talked!"

"You're still treating this as a game, brother."

"Brother?" Asked Winter. "What's going on?"

"Hell if I know! He is, was always the aggressor!" Ragna said, pointing his sword at Jin.

"You are the source of all evil, that is why you must die!" Answered Jin.

Winter looked over at Ragna.

"Really? And what did I do? Ten years ago, when we were boys, what the fuck did I do, that was so evil, that you cut off my freaking arm!"

Winter looked over at Jin.

"That wasn't me, and of no importance! The only thing that matters now, is the world wants you dead!"

"See!" Ragna looked at Winter, gesturing to Jin. "Crazy!"

"So… you two, are brothers…"

Winter, having two siblings of her own, knew a little something about sibling rivalry, but this was something else.

'This is so stupid, and not important. Duty came first!'

"Both of you are coming with me." Winter pointed her sword at Ragna. "Starting with you."

Ragna rolled his eyes. "Oh, for fuck's sake."

Ragna stared at Jin, and suddenly turned! And rushed toward Winter, Winter summoned three small Nevermores and sent them at Ragna while preparing glyphs all around her, but she underestimated Ragna's speed; he was already in front of her. Winter raised her sword, and Ragna grabbed it with his right hand, Winter tried to pull her sword out, but Ragna had already grabbed her collar, and thrown her at Jin! Jin caught her, and Ragna used the chance to escape…

"I'll kick your ass later, Jin!" Said A voice from a distance.

Jin was not happy.

"I'm sorry, it was my fault." Said Winter, apologetic.

"I'm going after him, do not follow me, Specialist."

It was then, they heard wings, flapping. They looked up, and saw, a dragon.

Top of the Cathedral

While Cinder was flying, she saw, and sensed something peculiar. On top of the cathedral, was a dark, rectangular stone Ragna left, she returned to check it out, but the moment she flew near the monument, she immediately felt wrong, even so, she landed before it. Negativity, that was what she was sensing, she didn't know how she knew, but that was what it was. Cinder wanted to leave, but then sensed something else, or someone else, someone has follow her here.

"Ah, the wonder girl." Said Cinder, switched to her natural arrogant face, and turned around.

"Don't tell me you actually instead to fight me?" Cinder sneered. "Not even Ragna the Bloodedge would dare fight me."

Pyrrha ignored her and drew her shield and spear.

"What went through your mind when you decided to challenge me? Do you have so much confidence in yourself? Or are you just suicidal?"

"Do you believe in destiny?" Pyrrha finally said something.

"What?"

"Perhaps it's not my destiny to defect you, but, to me, destiny is the goal you work towards."

In front of the Cathedral

After hearing everything from Jaune, both of them followed the flying Cinder, it wasn't hard, as she left a trail of fire behind her. Ruby was faster and went on ahead, when she got to the cathedral, she saw two people fighting… a dragon!

"You!" Said the white-haired woman. "Do not come any closer! This Grimm is extremely dangerous!"

"Weiss' sister?" Said Ruby.

Ruby looked up at the cathedral, and bent over into a running position.

"What are you doing?" Asked Winter. "I told you to-"

And she transformed into a stream of rose petals, flying up the cathedral.

Top of the Cathedral

After a few minutes of running upstairs, Ragna finally reached the top, and what he saw, surprised him. He was expecting Tarumi, waiting for him, instead, he saw Rudy lying on the ground, and Cinder, screaming in pain.

"About time you show up. What were you doing? Taking a dump?"

And there he is, suddenly appearing before him, and Ragna drew his sword.

"Ah… ahahah…" Cider mourned in pain.

"Will you shut up, bitch? You're ruining the act! Phantom! Give this bitch out of here!"

And a purple shadow appeared and disappeared just as fast, along with Cinder.

"Well, now that that is taken care of, let us return to our own story, shall we?"
